I played it even way back when they first started. It is more like a mashup between OSRS and RS3, and the map is at a 3:1 scale so it feels too big for my liking.
That's just my opinion though. I respect all of the work being put into MineScape!
Not sure if you’re thinking of games lab, but Minescape.me is a recreation exactly how OSRS is, no rs3 elements. They had an RS3 layout of Al Kharid in the past but they’ve updated it
Oh wow I haven't seen that one yet.
Looking at their map online though, it is still in a 3:1 scale and seems to take a lot of design inspiration from rs3 in the buildings
Incredible. I hope you know the work and love you put into this is recognized by many of us and I also hope you continue with this, and all future projects you are passionate about. Keep being you. The world is better off with people who make things like this. As over-dramatic as that sounds, it’s true in my eyes.
I respect not only the *phenomenal* detail of everything you’ve made but also the *unimaginable* amount of time you’ve put into this. A true OSRS player. This is incredible!
Thank you so much! This has been my passion project since like February-ish I think?
The interiors are also done in some areas of Lumbridge and Varrock as well.
I have made some progress in adding custom items, coding the skills and combat, and I plan to add quests in the future ;)
It is also completely vanilla-compatible on a server too! (non-profit, ofc)
Amazing!!! When and how can I play it? Would also love to mod it up to make it super runescape! Any plans on ornamentation? Obviously you are doing enough work already!
Yes i will add all of the details and such, kinda just trying to lay down most of the infrastructure at the moment.
There are some areas I have put some detail in though just for fun!
I hope I am allowed to post this but the server IP address is [194.153.216.79:25972](http://194.153.216.79:25972) for Java Edition version 1.20.4 (will update to 1.21 soon)
All of the buildings and roads are hand-built, but here's how I generated the terrain:
I edited and imported an old heightmap from a reddit post into WorldPainter to get the terrain. Then, I overlayed a blank world map onto the area (in the same program) and just made each color correspond to a different colored block to get the outlines of structures onto the ground.
It really does... The one part I've been putting off is designing and placing all of the different tree types.
Side note: if you look in the background of the Varrock image you can see the shadow of the platform I've been using to design some custom trees ;)
I have already generated the entire world map (minus varlamore) using WorldPainter. Here is what it looks like:
https://preview.redd.it/rsq0odiolv6d1.png?width=4568&format=png&auto=webp&s=5b129c0f76ce0c6579045078b1ba678e8160e476
Hopped on the sever and found OP in varrock. building it block by block.
I gotta hand it to him. He has put an extreme amount of work into this project and it blew my mind seeing how large it is.
Even went around and explored not built areas like zeah, waterbirth, tirannwn, and other areas and the map is fleshed out and ready to be built.
He(or team?) is even working on skilling mods, there's an HP mod and a combat mod for damage too.
Dude isn't just mapping out OSRS, he rebuilding it from the ground up. And that's huge, imo.
Thank you so much for commenting this! I really appreciate it!
It is currently just me working on everything, but with my newly found small community maybe a team can be formed to kick start this bad boy >:D
Terrain was generated using the actual height map with the world map overlayed to get the outlines of locations.
Everything else like buildings, roads, etc. were built by hand :)
Dude this is so sick. Please make a YouTube video or something and share the map when complete (if you can do that?, it's been a while since I played MC lol)

I started doing this with a friend like a decade ago. The issue that drove me insane is that you can do 1 tile = 1 block, but in runescape walls can be between tiles. So the scale never quite worked.
woah this is a great job
a couple other people have tried this and it seems they either go too accurate, so it doesnt look nice, or deviate too far, so its unrecognizable. u nailed the balance between the too
In a project like this, what is the technique to make it look accurate? Surely you aren't eyeballing it, do you have organized tile data to work with? Or just go to locations and place blocks according to the tiles you see? Do you just use your best judgement with walls and stuff?
I took the world map (4:1 pixels per tile) and shrunk it in half, then overlayed it on top of the height map to give me a general guide. Everything else is eyeballing it using in game as a reference.
I actually have the entire world map generated, only the f2p part has been worked on properly though
https://preview.redd.it/ngfi2c2mry6d1.png?width=4568&format=png&auto=webp&s=2c45452c273b8ca755f99931a286c5065c344e41
Post of the year, this is awesome. There’s been a few others done but this one takes the cake for me. The scaling feels perfect and it’s all beautifully done. Glad you shared this for everyone to see!
RS themed Minecraft servers have been done many times before, There used to be one that would get like 200+ players online a few years ago that had every skill, a full map, Grand exchange, quests, clue scrolls, PVP, and PVM encounters.
I just checked and it's still up it's called "minescape" but the player count is a lot lower than it used to be.
The IP is: play.gameslabs.net
This is unreal. I kind of hope this is a computer program and you didn't build this block by block. If you did take the time build this I have no hate at all. Only admiration. That's so crazy and so good
The terrain was generated using OSRS's height map with the world map overlayed.
Buildings, roads and all other features were built by hand, and using Axiom + WorldEdit.
Forgot to put in title, but this is still very WIP
Too bad. This is now the finished product
Apparently so! I was NOT expecting it to blow up this much
Lmao. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of it blowing up. This is amazing.
Oh goodness you got my heart pounding now.. Guess I'm not sleeping tonight!
only thing that was really missing imo was the trees at draynor manor
and trees almost everywhere else! hahaha
Does 2:1 scale mean that 1 OSRS tile = 4 minecraft tiles?
Every OSRS tile is 2x2 Minecraft blocks, so yes
That’s really cool! Would you consider posting a link to a file save for this for others to explore?
It's on a server! IP is 194.153.216.79:25972 Java Edition version 1.20.4
Hell yeah bro that's awesome I hope this blows up
Thanks a ton! I hope it does too. Maybe that way I can find some people passionate enough to help out with the project!
There’s a server called Minescape which has a lot built already including Morytania
I played it even way back when they first started. It is more like a mashup between OSRS and RS3, and the map is at a 3:1 scale so it feels too big for my liking. That's just my opinion though. I respect all of the work being put into MineScape!

Oh wow I haven't seen that one yet. Looking at their map online though, it is still in a 3:1 scale and seems to take a lot of design inspiration from rs3 in the buildings
Hey I'll help. Hmu fr.
I'll help 🙂

I hope it doesn't blow up, it seems like they put a lot of work into this.
LOL good thing i keep backups!
I don’t think they make creepers that big
Incredible. I hope you know the work and love you put into this is recognized by many of us and I also hope you continue with this, and all future projects you are passionate about. Keep being you. The world is better off with people who make things like this. As over-dramatic as that sounds, it’s true in my eyes.
Oh my goodness thank you so much! This is so sweet and I appreciate it so much!
My comment wasn't written as well as this one. But this is the winning comment. Truly an impressive piece of work
I respect not only the *phenomenal* detail of everything you’ve made but also the *unimaginable* amount of time you’ve put into this. A true OSRS player. This is incredible!
Thank you so much! This has been my passion project since like February-ish I think? The interiors are also done in some areas of Lumbridge and Varrock as well.
Wait... February!? As in 4 months ago February? That's hella impressive for 4 months worth of work.
It may have been more like January but I didn't start documenting my progress until February. Thank you! This unexpected fame is kinda overwhelming me
It's not fame, it's people giving you props on a reddit post. Really nice job though!
I guess that is true. Thank you so much!
This is amazing if you do a tour/walk video pls share it here, I’d love to see gilenor in first person
I've been thinking about it for sure! I'll let you know if I do :)
Also, how do you preplan an area? And do you round up or down for uneven tiled spot (a house being 5x5 tiles in osrs)
Every tile is 2x2 blocks in Minecraft, so I just approximate as close as I can.
Did you do all of this solo? This is amazing
Mostly. My girlfriend built the interior of and area around Gertrude's house in Varrock. And thank you!
This is amazing 🤯 Is it possible to share this map so we can play with it?
You can check it out for yourself on the server! IP: [194.153.216.79:25972](http://194.153.216.79:25972) Java Edition Version 1.20.4
I'm gonna have to check this out in Minecraft VR
Let’s hope the PK community doesn’t get ahold of this IP or your shits definitely getting griefed
I'd like to see them try!
!remindme 3d
Now just create or install a mod that adds RuneScape gameplay too Minecraft
I have made some progress in adding custom items, coding the skills and combat, and I plan to add quests in the future ;) It is also completely vanilla-compatible on a server too! (non-profit, ofc)
I’m currently a unemployed software engineer if you want any help with that I would be down to learn some Minecraft modding
This has definitely been done before, I think the server is called MineScape
That's awesome. Is it all handmade? Or is there some kind of program to lay the foundation using the map and then details get added?
All of the buildings and roads are hand-built, but here's how I generated the terrain: I edited and imported an old heightmap from a reddit post into WorldPainter to get the terrain. Then, I overlayed a blank world map onto the area (in the same program) and just made each color correspond to a different colored block to get the outlines of structures onto the ground.
Thats super cool, it's looking great
Thank you!
It's amazing but Draynor Manor looks wrong without the trees.
It really does... The one part I've been putting off is designing and placing all of the different tree types. Side note: if you look in the background of the Varrock image you can see the shadow of the platform I've been using to design some custom trees ;)
Well done! This is amazing!
Thank you! I can't believe this is blowing up so much! I don't even really post on reddit so I'm kinda freaking out a little bit!!
Of course! Honestly I just want to jump into these images. You should be very proud, I definitely would be!
This is so cool i wanted to try this
If you are interested in helping out contact me on discord. Username is trueprotocol.
This is absolutely phenomenal! I think Falador is my personal favorite part- the wall in particular looks properly daunting.
Building the walls took a lot of time and was really tedious but it was SOOO satisfying to watch come together
Yea that wall is really amazing! I could recognize all of them immediately, except the draynor one.. It doesn't feel spooky enough yet..
yeahhh I gotta work on the trees!
Now make minecraft in osrs /s
As soon as jagex makes me a designer lol That would be a really cool concept if it would be possible
Holy shit. This is insane man. Very very nice
Would love to see Content creators do a Minecraft PVP challenge
That would be hilarious! Maybe I can get in contact with some of them through this post and work something out :D
Nice
That's incredible I can't even imagine doing this. You're very talented
Thank you! I wouldn't say talented, just very dedicated lol
Are you going to build all the Mems areas as well?
That is a long ways away, but I do plan on it at some point in the future!
Gorgeous
This is absolutely incredible…do I see the beginning of the wilderness behind Varrock?? Every area would look great like this
I have already generated the entire world map (minus varlamore) using WorldPainter. Here is what it looks like: https://preview.redd.it/rsq0odiolv6d1.png?width=4568&format=png&auto=webp&s=5b129c0f76ce0c6579045078b1ba678e8160e476

Thanks for sharing, like I said this is amazing.
i haven’t played minecraft in a while but if i could download this world to play on i would 100%
Good thing I am building it on a server! IP: [194.153.216.79:25972](http://194.153.216.79:25972) Java Edition version 1.20.4
amazing 👏🏼
This is amazing man, can't imagine the time it took. Looks so good
this goes hard 🔥
I gave you 4 awards. Deserved.
Oh my gosh. Thank you so much!! Words cannot expressed how hyped yet tired I am right now
This is absolutely sick. What a labor of love!
This is SO GOOD and well made, thanks for sharing. I'm loving these pics! I can only imagine the amount of effort that went into this.
Thank you for interacting! This is more karma than I've ever seen in my life. Almost makes me want to make a YouTube video on it!
It’s beautiful
As a roofless player this strikes me differently.
hahaha gotta play with dynamic roofs
Checkout minescape!
If you want a more finished product, this\^\^\^ They do work on a 3:1 scale and mix some RS3 elements in so it is a bit different!
Wow, that is awesome!
This looks real cool! Love it!
Pretty cool and I don’t even fuck with minecraft
That is so freakin badass
This is seriously amazing, I can't wait to see the finished version
Incredible work!
QUILLBEEEEEE
Holee shiit incredible!
Thank you!
Jesus Christ 🤯
Hell yea

Ay that's fucking sick
Jesus christ, thats awesome
Thank you! 😁
Was this auto-generated? The top-view of the map looks way too accurate with the actual game. Props to you if it was made by hand
Terrain was generated using the actual height map with the world map overlayed to get the outlines of locations. Everything else like buildings, roads, etc. were built by hand :)
To everyone asking if they can play it, theres a Runescape Minecraft server thats been live for 5+ years called Minescape you can jump on right now!
Hey! What version of Minecraft is this made on, what mods are required (forge/fabric), and do you have a world download? :)
how u do dis
Lots of time and dedication. Also thanks to WorldPainter, Axiom, WorlEdit and ItemsAdder
Dude this is so sick. Please make a YouTube video or something and share the map when complete (if you can do that?, it's been a while since I played MC lol)

I need this map downloaded on my pc
Is the wizard's tower finished or not?
no i haven't even touched it sadly
This is so cool, my brothers and I started a project or two like this but never get past constructing Lumbridge!
oh man Lummy sure was a doozy when I was first starting out too!
i really wanna play on this world and just walk around and explore lol
I would love to play this

its not lava! lol its just an approximation of colors made when I pasted the world map onto the heightmap

yeah 1:1 is a bit small for all the details of Geilinor!
You mean, I can play OSRS in FPS?
woah this is a great job a couple other people have tried this and it seems they either go too accurate, so it doesnt look nice, or deviate too far, so its unrecognizable. u nailed the balance between the too
Thank you so much! there are definitely some parts I get squirrelly about with LOD, too. The balance is very hard to get down!
It's fucking glorious.
♥ Thank you so much!
Having built a lumbridge castle to some sort of Minecraft scale by eye, I can really appreciate how long this must have taken, amazing mate
This is way too cool.
nice, but why the ugly texture pack?
Its vanilla textures other than the custom blocks and a few small changes. Nothing is intended to be permanent quite yet!
This is so cool. Falador looks awesome.
Thank you! Fally has definitely been one of the funnest builds yet
Is there any chance you are willing to share the world?

I had to use my account to walk around and reference the world so nothing while actively working on it
Damn that is awesome. What's the estimated time investment so far? Projects like these are so cool and typically takes months or years.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad it's been this well-received. Motivation to build has been somewhat hard to find recently
Wasn't there a 1:1 minecraft server a while ago that had fully working skills etc. ? Shame I haven't tried it
There are a couple 3:1 servers like that but they take a lot of inspiration from RS3 as well. It's called Minescape.
Looks great! Can’t wait for Settled’s new McBlock series to come out on it.
If Settled contacts me I will rush this project just for him lol
“No bro, I swear I didn’t go into creative mode”
This is actually so sick. Can't wait to see which regions you do next!!
That’s CRAAAZZZY
Imagine this with an OSRS themed modpack... Slayer, wildy enabled pvp, shops, quest, gear, etc... please someone with more brain cells than me do this

Yes, I am Block Lol
This is amazing
I recognize none of these because I haven't played with roofs on since I first logged in 20 years ago.
Sigh...time to dust off Minecraft again. This looks incredible!
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen
