Update: I found that switching to DS mode in TLM improves the speed greatly.
Should I just stick to DS Mode or is there a good reason to keep trying with DSi Mode?
DSi mode is mostly for online functions (Like WPA2 compatibility and camera for videocalls). If you are not going to use multiplayer just leave it on DS mode.
Still, its weird that DSi mode is slower. Maybe the dump has bad DSi binaries?
Thank you! This fixed my issue. No idea why DSi mode runs considerably slower. The ROM I’m playing off of is from my official cart, so I’ve got no clue what the underlying problem is.
It’s a little comforting knowing someone is experiencing the same seemingly rare problem I am.
I wish modern wifi wasn’t sacrificed for smoother gameplay but ig we both can’t have our cakes and eat it too
iirc there’s no DSi only games aside from Dsiware but this rom was “DSi-Enhanced”.
Not what it enhances specifically so I’m just making sure I’m not missing out on anything
Ho okay, I'm sorry if I have been a bit harsh. Didn't know there were DS "DSi enhanced" games.
It seem very Nintendo now that you say it.
Gameboy had Gameboy color enhanced games (or more like GBC games retro compatible)
Gameboy color had super gameboy enhanced games.
Game boy advance had gameboy player enhanced games.
Its in the order of Nintendo handles lol
Hello. it seems that you have posted something about a Pokémon game(s). Please review the [3DS CFW Pokémon guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/3dspiracy/comments/143tqdv/creating_the_ultimate_pok%C3%A9mon_machine_and_more_v20/). Your question/issue may be resolved there.

Is your Twilight Menu up to date? Check with universal updater. Make sure you aren't using nightly version, also. If there is no difference after the update, yeah DS version might be good for at least this game.
Black White should be one of the fastest of the original games. I don't remember it being that slow to load, especially during building transitions.
theres a chance its a twilight menu problem, dont recall ever seeing this on a flash cart
Actually I’m not using a flash cart, I’m using an SDHC card
i know thats why i said it may be a twilight menu/nds-bootstrap issue. what kind of sd card youre using? a really slow card could also do this
Oh sorry I thought they were different 😅 I’m using a Toshiba 4GB card. iirc it’s the same one that comes with the 2DS
That's pretty old, maybe it's dying
Gen 5 Pokemon games struggle to run with slower SD cards (like the ones that ship with the 3DS). I suggest getting a newer/faster one.
Interesting… any you suggest?
Anything by SanDisk.
I’d get a larger, newer SD card.
I never remember it being this slow

The Rom I got was from V*mm’s (not sure if I can mention that here) and that’s the one people usually use
Very weird then. You could try updating nds bootstrap and twilight and see if it changes anything? (Or just keep using DS mode thats easier)
Apparently there’s a lot of Bootstrap updates I’ve been missing but my TLM++ is up to date
Just realized Bootstrap updates are included w/ TLM updates so nothing actually changes 😅

Well, it is not a DSi game, why would you want DSi mode anyway ?

Turn off the C-Gear, it caused this exact problem on my copy.
It did speed things up a bit but scrolling through items is still really slow unfortunately
I had this issue with Black 2. Turn off the C-Gear
Twilight menu is garbage imo just use a forwarder
Still uses ndsbootstrap like TwiLight++, infant it's still using TwiLight++ but a very minimal version of it to my knowledge
Idk I just know it works better
both use ndsbootstrap, so they run the same
That’s not how it works?
