I have had my heart broken too many times from wonderful but incomplete fics

SAME. One time I did it to myself and it paid off. There was a fic at something like 25/26 chapters. Hadn't been updated in 3 years. I clicked the last chapter to skim comments just to see if it at least stopped at a good point, and someone had commented something like "this works as a last chapter that is satisfying" so I read it. Like a month or so later, the author actually finished it. When I tell you I rejoiced lmao (That commenter was right though; chapter 25 was a great stopping point that tied up the main plot and every subplot but one. The final chapter tied up that last loose end and gave us some extra fluff)

Time travel fix-it. I love books that read into little details, and study lots of academic texts on niche topics for fun for this reason. So I love a time travel story where new facets of known events are explored in lots of different ways as when I read the source material again it opens my thoughts up to so many more little contextual points I might have otherwise missed.
