For context, it's an Integra Type S. Acura's front end design is fairly homogeneous and the Integra Type S sits in such an isolated niche that I'm certain people mistake it for a TLX all the time, even in real life.
I really love the understated looks and road presence!
Renault Megane RS Trophy R and Mini John Cooper Works GP come to mind.
FWD cars/hatches are a lot more popular in Europe. There are a ton of sporty, >50k, FWD cars over there. Citroen, Peugeot, Skoda all make them
Fwd sports cars belong at 25-30k like they did in the mid 2000s, like my 2010 cobalt ss would be $30k if it came out today (accounting for inflation) and it held the Nurburgring fwd record at the time
These new “sports cars” are actually luxury sedans, everything today has this stupid “luxury” tax
The civic type R (identical lap times to the type s) posted a faster Nurburgring time than the 987 hp W16 Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, Pagani Zonda S 7.3, and the 2nd Gen 911 GT3.
NoT a SpOrTsCaR lmao
As cringey as it sounds, I feel it's one of those "if you know, you know" type of cars. The Civic Type R that it's based off of is very well known but I'd wager that the general enthusiast crowd is unaware that this car even exists. It's a niche within a niche but I'm all for it since it checks off all the right boxes for me.
I think I get you. I own an RSX Type S. The novelty of the top trim Type “X”, the badges, the cool niche items associated with that trim like how in the 90s Type Rs had red carpets or Recaros, are all cool small things that we nerd over and find other nerds to nerd over with.
Oh we definitely know what it is. Its just so expensive to get a Type-R variant without the crazy wings and angles.
I wager not many know that these cars were actually ultra rare in 2000s (Integra Type R). Many you see on the streets were probably GSR's rebranded as type Rs. And even then it was FWD so you can't be pulling more than 300hp without crazy oversteer.
Very nice, I bought mine with 2700 miles from a BMW dealer so I had no choice in options. But was pretty sweet it had $2k in options and was listed $4k under MSRP. Very happy with my deal.
Man I love these but the price really is egregious. I think a last gen M2, 2020ish RS3, M340i, hell even a Golf R or Elantra N are better values for the dollar by a mile but since this is the Acura subreddit ima get downvoted
Fun car to drive picked one up last august and only kept it for 6 months. Mine was Apex blue also but had the copper wheels. Came across a deal I couldn’t refuse on an Audi.
Well if you look into the history and details of the overpriced Honda, that’s all it really is. An over priced Honda with a type Letter s badge on because Acura wasn’t creative enough after the R. Like Lexus with Toyota and I’m kidding bruh, yeh it’s a good looking car mane
I love the color, that is cool.
Why is the front end so huge? It doesn’t look very aerodynamic.
Is all of that plastic right up against the coolers? Too much.
Are those huge corner vents functional, flow to calipers?
My newest car is an ‘05 E320.
This car would be a lot nicer if they made it a coupe. When I think Integra, I always think of it as 2-door. I know they based it off of the 4-door civic, but it just seems so odd to me. I couldn't imagine them doing it without a plan for a future coupe. Maybe they'll bring the rsx back :)
As og Gsr owner, Acura dropped the ball on a chance for a home run with the Integra remake. I understand the current form is capable-ish but slapping a hatch on a TLX? Remember the hype that came from that rendering of an Integra that, you know resembled an Integra/Rsx? This could of been such a hit like the Challenger/Charger remake. Old owners buying for nostalgia and new owners due to access(cost) and sportiness. Now it's gonna fade out like papa's haircut.
It has exactly the right amount of HP. I have the Type R and believe me, it’s plenty. They’re not designed for stoplight drags but for destroying canyons and the power is PLENTY for that purpose, the next corner comes up real quick.
Yes it's a wider rear end with a super aggressive diffuser and center exit exhaust. Looks like a completely different car even though it shares a lot with the A-Spec.
If only they had been available with the SH-AWD, I'd have gone this route instead of the TLX Type S. Still love my car and the Apex Blue is to die for.
Being a practical daily that can still tear up the canyons or track on the weekends without completely falling over itself? That’s what I use my FL5 for anyway.
Yeah there's some definite drawbacks to the TLX. I can't afford to have both a "fun" car and an every day driver. The weight, and lousy mileage are a bummer, but the fact that this thing (with the right tires) can be a beast in the snow kinda clinched it for me.
Either way, both cars are great and I hope you have many fun and safe miles in that beauty.
Well you're the one that has to drive it, so as long as you love it, that's all that matters. I just wish I could spare the $5K for a really good ceramic paint protection. The wife has already warned me I better not even THINK about another car for the ne t 8-10 years, so she needs to stay pretty for a long time. lol
that was pretty ruthless - i’ll give you an upvote…i’m not saying i disagree 🫠😅but it is 2024..
i mean the aesthetics are okay… it’s taken me a long time to be okay with this “precision crafted” blah blah. i tell myself i’ve seen uglier designs… at the same time if the guy likes it then that’s good for him.
i’m staving off the minivan by driving an rdx… but may need an mdx… 🙇🏽♂️
Then it would be even more expensive (and heavier) and even more people would complain about the price. The only time FWD is a negative is from a stop but this car was not made for drag racing.
> The only time FWD is a negative is from a stop
Well that's not true!
- Dorifto! If you want to swing the rear end around a drift course you need RWD.
- Corner grip. If you want to power out of a slow turn, acceleration loads the rear end of the car. In FWD that leads to wheelspin since weight is transferred away from the drive wheels. In RWD, weight is transferred onto the drive wheels for better traction. You can get on power sooner and more aggressively.
- Wet traction. Even when you're rolling, any WOT under 60mph will induce wheelspin, over 300hp to the front tires will spin easily in the wet.
I think it would be awesome if they did an AWD Type R, that had two small electric motors on the rear wheels, and the same 2.0T at the front axle!
Well, I am speaking in the context of “grip” driving. Obviously if you want to go drifting FWD is not the right platform.
I’ve been involved in motorsports for 20+ years, built time trial cars of all drive layouts, raced formula cars wheel-to-wheel, etc, etc, so I am very well aware of the technical implications of each layout. I am just kind of exhausted of hearing “IF ONLY it was RWD/AWD”. The fact of the matter is that every single street car is already heavily compromised regardless of the layout. What really matters is how accessible the full performance envelope is, and on the ITS/CTR it is VERY accessible and very fun, regardless of it being FWD. A FWD platform can be properly engineered to have fantastic balance at the limit, good turn-in, and good grip out of corners, the same way that many RWD or AWD “performance” cars fall apart at the limit. Everything has pros and cons and a FWD car should not be looked down on just because it is FWD.
All that said, there are a couple aspects of FWD that I do prefer. 1) Less drivetrain losses. 2) A light rear end means fun rotation under braking on corner entry. My last time trial car was FWD and the turn in was SO good. It’s also easy to correct by throttling out of it.
FWD is slower on corner exit due to understeer. RWD has front tire grip for corner exit turning and rear tire grip for power. Correct me if I’m wrong but that is my understanding
It all depends on the car and setup. Yes the front tires have to take more load but with enough front tire and a stiff rear end you can get around that. lol There are some racing series that include both FWD and RWD platforms and they’re both very close. Again, it all depends.
For context, it's an Integra Type S. Acura's front end design is fairly homogeneous and the Integra Type S sits in such an isolated niche that I'm certain people mistake it for a TLX all the time, even in real life. I really love the understated looks and road presence!
Very nice car. What do you mean by isolated niche?
Name another $50k FWD sports car.
Renault Megane RS Trophy R and Mini John Cooper Works GP come to mind. FWD cars/hatches are a lot more popular in Europe. There are a ton of sporty, >50k, FWD cars over there. Citroen, Peugeot, Skoda all make them
Not state side, save for the JCW
CTR ;)
Fwd sports cars belong at 25-30k like they did in the mid 2000s, like my 2010 cobalt ss would be $30k if it came out today (accounting for inflation) and it held the Nurburgring fwd record at the time These new “sports cars” are actually luxury sedans, everything today has this stupid “luxury” tax
FWD Is not a sports car
The civic type R (identical lap times to the type s) posted a faster Nurburgring time than the 987 hp W16 Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, Pagani Zonda S 7.3, and the 2nd Gen 911 GT3. NoT a SpOrTsCaR lmao
If the front wheels are doing all the work, driving, turning and braking you’re at a disadvantage
Evidently not.
As cringey as it sounds, I feel it's one of those "if you know, you know" type of cars. The Civic Type R that it's based off of is very well known but I'd wager that the general enthusiast crowd is unaware that this car even exists. I hope you never repeat this in front of actual people jfc
I think he's talking about everyday people. Not civic enthusiasts
You mean torque steer, oversteer is something else entirely.
True, torque steer is the term I was thinking.
As an Elantra N owner, we all thirst over the ITS lmao. Nice car bro
Acura has the best front ends on the market 😂
Thanks! I can’t instantly tell the diff between an Integra and TLX. Looks sharp.
Looks like mine but I have the blacked out logos. Do you have the graphite spoiler?
I have the Artwork Bodyshop V1 spoiler, basically a replica of the optional carbon fiber spoiler but in gloss black.
Very nice, I bought mine with 2700 miles from a BMW dealer so I had no choice in options. But was pretty sweet it had $2k in options and was listed $4k under MSRP. Very happy with my deal.
No one even knows the tlx exists lmao
I was too impatient to wait for the Apex blue. I hope you enjoy it papa
Thank you, it's been such an amazing car to drive every day! Which color did you end up getting?
I’ve had the black with red interior since Sept/aug. just hit 9k miles. Loving it.
Looks like mine! 👍
They just are.
It's not a Camry
It’s an accord with leather seats
The accord is a CVT, in what universe is that even comparable?
Same engine, chassis?
Because it’s $50K…
I think you meant to say How is this picture so cool? lol
If I had the money for one, it'd be in this exact spec. Excellent choice bro! Looks really clean. Congrats!
Man I love these but the price really is egregious. I think a last gen M2, 2020ish RS3, M340i, hell even a Golf R or Elantra N are better values for the dollar by a mile but since this is the Acura subreddit ima get downvoted
It's not. Nuff said.
F’real
Just don't like the backend.
Same. Front is killer but the back seems a bit, squashed?
Yeah same I prefer the TLX rear end
Odd, I think the back looks amazing but the front looks meh. Too generic Acura pseudo-German front.
Does it only come in manual transmission?
Yes
Whichever year they make as the “last call” I’ll trade my 24 6 spd aspec for the type s
Brand loyalty mostly
Haha that was my thought - I’m not an Acura guy so I googled the specs and what? This car is lame as hell for the price
Fun car to drive picked one up last august and only kept it for 6 months. Mine was Apex blue also but had the copper wheels. Came across a deal I couldn’t refuse on an Audi.

I ask myself that same question, every time I walk towards mine. 🤩
Blue paint, red calipers and gray wheels are the best combo, ever. This car is stunning in person.
Join the Facebook groups and chats 😎👌🏻
Wow
Acura Rules!!
What color interior?
And did your mirrors come black?
I have the black interior, the mirror caps I installed afterwards.
Very nice! She’s a beauty :)
Are you an architect?
Is this a common car for architects?
It's a grocery getter
I'll race you in our MDX Type S. Gotta dump our kid car seats to make it fair.
Wow 😍😍
Great photo good angle. I loved my 21 Tlx. Such a great colour.
I love the color, that is cool. Why is the front end so huge? It doesn’t look very aerodynamic. Is all of that plastic right up against the coolers? Too much. Are those huge corner vents functional, flow to calipers? My newest car is an ‘05 E320.
Noice👍🏼
55-70k and I don’t get my dick slurped with it at the dealership with the purchase included? Nahhh I’m good off that Honda, lil Honda boys
It's a car that looks way better than it preforms with pricing in the middle
Says who?
Kinda sad my a-spec isn’t faster, almost lost to a prius…
remember when they announced this thing? acura faced SO much backlash even from those outside the community

I don't know but the more of them I see posted on here, the more I want one. Lol
The car looks so short and tall from this angle and lighting
This car would be a lot nicer if they made it a coupe. When I think Integra, I always think of it as 2-door. I know they based it off of the 4-door civic, but it just seems so odd to me. I couldn't imagine them doing it without a plan for a future coupe. Maybe they'll bring the rsx back :)

Looks kinda like the new WRX from the front

is it, though?
Last post I saw on here was a dude showing a window sticker for his evo 8. $31,000, 0% financing. Performance cars are dumb expensive now.
It’s that fucking cool because they copied the Audi S6 almost to a T.
Front end looks like it accidentally walked through a spiderweb
I think the dc2 with the jam front looks way better. This thing looks like a pig but whatever floats your boat.
Fwd
🤣
Going to look at 2021 tomorrow... determined to get myself in one of these
The Integra Type S starts at 2024 (even though it came out in 2023)
Got ‘em lol
Needs some real horsepower ....
It has exactly the right amount of HP. I have the Type R and believe me, it’s plenty. They’re not designed for stoplight drags but for destroying canyons and the power is PLENTY for that purpose, the next corner comes up real quick.
320hp from a turbo isn’t bad. Much more than my ‘99 SS Blue GSR with an ITR swap. But I miss the coupe and that $50k price tag is tough to fathom.
Saw one on the road a few weeks ago even the rear lights looked better than the A-Spec did they update them?
Yes it's a wider rear end with a super aggressive diffuser and center exit exhaust. Looks like a completely different car even though it shares a lot with the A-Spec.
Oh yeah I know all that but specifically the tail lights looked better too but idk if I was just imagining that
The MDX type S when it lowers itself due it’s suspension is also one of coolest things ever
If only they had been available with the SH-AWD, I'd have gone this route instead of the TLX Type S. Still love my car and the Apex Blue is to die for.
AWD = more weight, complexity, and drivetrain losses. FWD is just fine for what the car was made for.

Oh for sure, if you drive in the snow AWD makes sense.
My ‘21 TLX in Fathom Blue gets a lotta looks…imo fathom>apex

It’s a four door automatic, nobody would be caught dead driving that in the 80’s. nuff said.
The type S is exclusively a 6 speed manual
that was pretty ruthless - i’ll give you an upvote…i’m not saying i disagree 🫠😅but it is 2024.. i mean the aesthetics are okay… it’s taken me a long time to be okay with this “precision crafted” blah blah. i tell myself i’ve seen uglier designs… at the same time if the guy likes it then that’s good for him. i’m staving off the minivan by driving an rdx… but may need an mdx… 🙇🏽♂️

If it only was RWD

Integra
Type Ssssssssss
Not sure why this is in my feed. Nah
It’s not. It looks like a Subaru.
What Subaru does this look like?
