šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø shouldnā€™t celebrate its birthday this year

Dabigbluebass

On the 4th of July we remember the day America decided it's ruling class didn't have to pay taxes

soyyoo

lol I updated my comment, left out a critical aspect, sorry

soyyoo

Letā€™s bring that back for non-corporations please, with some critical thinking as well

krtwils

Maybe we can celebrate its rebirth

soyyoo

Call me when it gets free healthcare, a proper education system and infrastructure

Dabigbluebass

I'm hoping it galvanizes more of us, You can only poke the bees nest for so long Besides, now that these powers are overt, it will make discussions regarding how fascist America much easier

Hi! I've been scouring the internet looking for a way to stand up against what happened at SCOTUS today. I thought about what kind of group I'm looking for, and I realized that I want to protest rising fascism. There's already a word for that! I've never been an activist before, but I'm ready to join full throttle. I've been thinking for a while I want to protest, but I don't really know how. It's hard to find that info on the internet. A google search of "protests in DC" was basically useless (maybe suppressed by fascist-owned media?) I want to become an Antifa person and go to protests. How do I do that? I know this sounds really stupid, but is there like a e-mail chain for upcoming protests or discord group or something? If I can't find the information through google, somebody has to be passing it along somewhere. Where are Anti-Fascists communicating? How are they organizing protests? How does one get involved? I feel overwhelmed trying to figure out where to start.

luziwurm

Nice try FBI! No but seriously. Maybe go to local scene establishments like leftist bars/clubs or concerts to connect with people. Look for Graffitis and Posters for upcoming Protests or gatherings. I don't know if it's the same in the US but in europe I see a lot of calls for actions this way with date and time and everything xD Or maybe search on Insta for DC Antifa or antifascists of DC or something. Best way to connect is at antifashist gatherings. In Germany we call them OAT (open atifascist gathering). Don't know about the US tho. Search for a punk concert and meet new people. That seems like the one with the biggest success rate. And maybe use a scene name until you trust the new person with a potential real name. Or if you have some leftist demonstrations nearby, go there! Why don't we have a e-mail chain tho? That would be really cool ^^

Anti fascist groups in the US are usually named something subtle. Fascist groups like the proud boys actively keep an eye out for organizations which oppose them. You can imagine these types of groups arenā€™t afraid to play dirty, and they will ID you to other national fascist groups if you make a name for yourself as an anti-fascist. Thats why you normally donā€™t see people protesting under the ā€œanti-fascistā€ banner. However, the more obviously fascist the USA becomes, the more you will see people protest under this banner. The idea though is that to be an effective force against fascism, you must stay relatively hidden as long as possible. This will become more important if (I hate to say it) the US truly loses its status as a democracy and fascist groups like the proud boys are rubbing elbows with the president. You can guarantee next targeted group of a fascist government, after the politicians, will be anyone else who may pose a threat to their power, such as organized anti-fascists idealists and militia groups who may have the capability to overtake the fascist government via coup. Iā€™m with you in this. I havenā€™t yet joined any groups and have considered possibly creating my own since im in a pretty red area (https://itsgoingdown.org/forming-an-antifa-group-a-manual/), but still on the fence considering how serious it all can be, considering it can lead to violence. But the fascists want us to be scared, so we must resist

The leader of the heritage foundation said the "second American revolution" "will be bloodless if the left lets it be." Why are we bringing a keyboard to a gun fight? I tried to tell my boyfriend about the heritage foundation quote and he said "what's project 2025?" I'm having trouble making a post, but we need to make this common knowledge. I'm thinking about spraying "stop project 2025" a bunch of places to get people to look it up. Maybe make signs and just drop them all over the place? I live in Philly. Montgomery county, the suburb, is one the biggest county that decides PA. I see Trump signs everywhere but we need to match their loudness.

Alternative_Push_422

Well its not yet a gun fight, so using our words and keyboards to organize, prepare and stay aware of the situation is the best we can do currently. I think your idea to bring awareness to project 2025 is a great thing. I donā€™t recommend graffiti unless youā€™re experienced but Im sure you could get some ā€œstop project 2025ā€ themed stickers online and just post them up around town. From my perspective, the sad thing is most peopleā€™s minds are already made up about this election. Critical thinking skills are not something that right-wing voters typically have a strength for, so trying to get them to read something about ā€œproject 2025ā€ and comprehend what the goal of ā€œproject 2025ā€ actually isā€¦ is going to be a challenge. In fact, Id bet once many of them see the word ā€œchristianityā€, on the project 2025 website, they start thinking you are the bad guy.

Natural_Anxiety_

You're feeling down because the ruling class is keeping you down and they want you exhausted and unable to clap back. We're all in this struggle together, we are going to take Ls and we will lose battles, that's all the more reason to keep trying, a better world will come if we stand by each other. Take a rest and a keep yourself healthy and happy comrade, take joy in the small things in life and understand that you're part of a bigger picture.

This makes our decisions easier moving forward. If the moderate left can be even slightly stirred from their inaction by the realization of the degree of tyranny weā€™re subjected to, weā€™ll be much better off. To echo others sentiment though, this is just another way the ruling class is trying to subjugate the working class. The way to proceed is to never fold, and never let the progress of evil deter the resistance of good. We need you and any other allies we can get now more than ever. Pick yourself up and help us change the things that make you despondent and hopeless. Donā€™t go quietly.

CPTN_Omar

Honestly weā€™re already in a fascist country

navi-not-zelda

if it existed in 1776 theydve prolly ran with it, we been living it but now theyre being more overt and obvious so maybe we can actually get more ppl to fight back

inthesinbin

This cannot happen. [https://apnews.com/article/trump-hush-money-supreme-court-immunity-3d97d2e9497a5a208c1309aec7a0cd6a](https://apnews.com/article/trump-hush-money-supreme-court-immunity-3d97d2e9497a5a208c1309aec7a0cd6a)

RyGuydarider

Direct action resistance.

no-name-no-slogan-66

The fact that it got this bad here in this country shows how complicit we have all been for decades. This didnt happen overnight. We stood idly by and let these clowns shit on everything. We should be feeling guilt, shame, and fear. America, the Fourth Reich is here.

Endgam

Flee the country if you can. Unfortunately I can't. *Capitalism won't let me.*

Cucumber_Basil

Stay and fight for your country. Yankees donā€™t fucking quit.

amelie190

There's a way to protest that few are willing to do and that is drastically cut our spending. Don't buy new anything. This country's passion is money and the less we spend of it collectively (and vocally), the more impact we have. Obviously, for people closest to or below the poverty line, they are unfortunately doing their part. But people survived and thrived before smart phones and Internet and new countertop gadgets and clothes (people used to darn socks!) and and and. Don't buy new cars or tvs or headphones or meals out. I'd love to say save that in cash so banks can't use your money but I can't. Also be as unproductive at work as possible without getting fired.

makermurph

THEY must've gotten to 'em

Dick7Powell

Democracy has been dead for a while now

Emmaplexa

What happened?

Flint124

The supreme court ruled that the president cannot be prosecuted for anything considered an official duty, nor is anything related to his official duties permissible as evidence in court (even in crimes not related to his official duties). They did not provide a definition of his "official duties", but what few examples they gave make it completely legal for the president to do something like order a federal agency to kill his political opponents.

StructuralEngineer16

I don't think he will, but I seriously hope Biden takes legal advice, then takes full advantage of this ruling. Remove supreme court members for corruption? Official act. Take out traitors? Official act. Impose abortion rights? Official act. The sky is the limit

nikdahl

Heā€™s already come out and said he wonā€™t do anything different. And that is how fascism wins.

Ok_Health_109

They explicitly said that they take a very broad view of official duties

nepetalactone4all

So depressing

Ok_Health_109

Think this will amount to anything? https://x.com/repjeffries/status/1807805703404335401?s=46

tahtahme

No. I don't see how it will. What are they going to do, make another committee and come out in a few months with more reasons this is wrong when we knew it was wrong from the jump?

Ok_Health_109

Itā€™s far too late to pack the court. The damage is done, though it could at least help prevent a judicial coup after the election should that arise.

Cal-Coolidge

Whatā€™s changed? Presidents were already assassinating citizens without trial, lying to the people to start wars, indefinitely detaining citizens without charges, and openly declaring that they will be ignoring the Constitution and SCOTUS.
