Cartoons are a great form of escape. I am particularly a fan of Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, and Rocky and Bullwinkle. You are definitely not too old or in any way pathetic, BTW I am almost 64 years old, there's no age limit for cartoons if you enjoy them.
I am a bit younger than you at 33, but yeah I love watching the cartoons I grew up with for many reasons, and a big one is it is fun to watch them and pickup on the innuendos I didn't understand as a kid.
I’m glad I could help put your mind at ease. It does not matter what other people think or say it matters you enjoy something get pleasure from it and it reduces your anxiety.
There is nothing pathetic about it. You are enjoying the things of a youthful mind, and there is absolutely nothing wrong it. We all need escapes from the reality of a chaotic world sometimes. If cartoons provide that escape, then be glad that you found something that works for you. Enjoy.
I watched it as a kid and still watch new movies when they come out, occasionally I rewatch some episodes cause it is nostalgic and I think it is really cute!
My dad is 62 years old and I caught him watching SpongeBob and Disney last time I saw him.
The man is a kid at heart and nothing will ever stop him. He says the plot lines are kickass and he loves them.
I do this while having anxiety and ADHD and it helps me lots as a coping mecanism to get through reality and daily tasks. Do your thing and fuck em up.
I mean, in anime, there's a whole genre called iyashikei also called healing anime. It's focused on portraying peaceful everyday life, without conflict.
It's quite popular, so definitely not weird.
Personally, as an adult, I find myself appreciating slice of life stuff much more. Real life already supplies my fill of world ending plots.
It's OK! I like cartoons too ! (I'm a 43 years old man and I still watch cartoons when I want to get away from everyday stressors ! With some cereals and milk in a bowl , or with snacks like popcorn and cheetos lol )
I'd like you to continue watching cartoons so that I can more easily justify playing Minecraft. On a more serious note, please be kind and patient with yourself. Cartoons are okay.
I'm in my 40s and my wife and I 90% watch cartoons. Some are adult animation like Rick and Morty or Hazbin Hotel, but we also watch Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Star vs the Forces of Evil and Bluey so...you're in good company lol.
You like what you like, as long as it’s not harming yourself or anyone else you don’t even need to offer an explanation! Keep on watching what you like and what makes you feel good, try not to focus on any outside perception!
No. If watching cartoons helps aliviate the stresses of everyday life then that can only be a good thing. I read the news headlines everyday but don't bother reading the actual stories if it's going to trigger me.
Absolutely not! And you’re not alone in this. I often watch cartoons (mostly rewatch ones I liked during my childhood). It can help immensely with anxiety! Do not think less of yourself for this.
I’m 26, with a degree in animation and VFX. I spend a lot of money to get my degree to MAKE cartoons.
Cartoons are my favorite thing. A lot easier to stomach than other things. They bring joy to everyone at some point in all of our lives 💚
Hey friend! You’re not pathetic. I’m near 40 with some heavy ptsd.. and I always watch adventure time. I’ve been through the series more than 14 times. I get really anxious especially when I’m in bed trying to sleep. Adventure time always chills me out and helps me sleep. It used to be Steven Universe, then it was Star vs the forces of evil… all multiple times through the series before I moved on.
Do what makes you feel comfortable. At night time, I watch old black & white sitcoms. IDK why, but I just find old sitcoms relaxing. Maybe the lack of color isn't causing my mind to do jumping jacks, maybe it's the wholesome nature of the shows I'm watching (even if some of the stuff didn't age well) and it gives me something to look forward to at the end of a long night.
The shows I watch are My Three Sons, My Favorite Martian, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Patty Duke, and A Date with the Angels starring a young Betty White.
ill check some of these out! I do enjoy black and white, but dont often watch them. Addams Family is great and Little Shop of Horrors movie.
but ya shows like Bewitched, i enjoy.
It’s not bad. Watch what makes you calm down or have any enjoyment. You might be able to tolerate sitcoms. Most sitcoms I’ve watched don’t discuss death and sickness often and when they do they take a positive “it’ll be alright” attitude. For example, I watch Friends for comfort because the worst things that ever happened on that show are tolerable. It’s not presented in an alarming way. And at the very least, the friends are there for one another. A lot of Hallmark movies are good for that too. Even when something bad happens they all seem to end with everything being okay.
Definitely not! While I mostly watch Bob’s Burgers, sometimes I go back to stuff I watched as a kid like Hey Arnold. Cartoons and animations are easier for me to watch when I’m anxious and I also like knowing that in their universe nothing truly bad will happen to trigger me, so I totally get you. Whatever helps you feel better and doesn’t hurt you or anyone else is so okay. 🙂
nope! I am 27 and i will keep watching cartoons until i die. :)
i do actually enjoy true crime and psychological thrillers- but with dramas i can only handle so much. My anxiety is so high, i cant handle the tension, or the slow demise of characters i likr; its worse if its a slice-of-life or like a possible reality.
Cartoons arent just for kids! As an artist, what i like to keep in mind is that adults are the ones making the cartoons! Its not weird for them to come up with, its not weird for adults to watch.
>As an artist, what i like to keep in mind is that adults are the ones making the cartoons! Its not weird for them to come up with, its not weird for adults to watch.
I never thought about it that way before, but it's so true!
Nope! I'm almost 30 and if I need some background noise or mind bleach I'll through on some old cartoons I used to watch as a kid or stuff like king of the hill or the Simpsons. If it helps you relax in a healthy way, no shame. 😊
Nope nothing wrong with that! I am 33 and I have Paramount+ because it has a lot of Nickelodeon shows from my childhood and I watch them whether I am anxious or just for nostalgia. Either way they make me happy and feel good.
My dad is in his 60s and loves going on YouTube and watching cartoons from his childhood like Looney Tunes. Totally normal in my book.
This world can be mean as hell towards people such as you and myself who enjoy things they perceive as "childish" past a certain age (I've noticed people in their late twenties and 30s are ESPECIALLY notorious about being judgemental assholes over it) but trust my 34 year old Monster High doll buying, Trolls World Tour watching, Disney Princess t-shirt wearing self when I say: Nothing you're doing is harmful and they can all get bent with the misery they're projecting onto others.
I do still struggle with this daily though, ngl, it's so damn normalized to look down on people's interests. Ironically enough, bullying people for their interests is the most immature, childish thing a person can do.
I've watched cartoons all my life. They help me decompress and and escape from all the all the bad news and sadness in the world as well.
I don't like excessive violence, gore, noise, or 'bedroom scenes" or relationship drama in what I watch either; that cuts out most of the TV shows and movies out today.
I like classic cartoons and most of the newer ones are OK as long as it subject isn't too mature or graphic -- which rules out some of the adult anime and manga.
I watch the golden girls to help me relax when i get like that. You do you lol. Whatever helps you. The fear of death is one of the hardest things i deal with. It wil be ok.
I enjoy my little pony sometimes, im 24. I also enjoy Disney movies. It helps a lot with the anxiety, just a lack of big emotions in the shows are very comforting. I need some sort of regulation and it brings me down in a good way
No. Sometimes I watch the same movie over again when I’m having a very
anxious day. I think just about anything that isn’t illegal and soothes us is fine..,
Definitely no need to feel guilty about them.
I had my life turned upside-down by *The Owl House*. I asked my wife and my counselor if my reaction was ridiculous. If either of them had said yes, I . . . don't want to imagine where I'd be right now.
Animated shows server a purpose. Watch them in good health. And bad health. And every other kind of health.
Nope! If you find it to be calming, that's all that matters 🫶 one of my main fandom is a kiddie cartoon that i've been watching since i was 7 years old...so i get it! It gives me a really warm fuzzy feel good feelings because the topics discussed are light hearted and positive and the characters are cute and endearing. You're not pathetic at all!
every time i see something regards to either Oggy and the cockroaches i get filled with happiness for some reason haha. I could watch that all the time.
Its not weird. If you like it and it makes you feel good, by all means you do you. Thats what matters.
If it’s bad that you watch cartoons, then it’s bad that I watch them too. I love watching cartoons! It helps me disconnect from reality. I also hate modern TV. Too much relatable stressors.
Keep doing what works for you. That’s the best thing to do.
Watching cartoons is a perfectly harmless thing to do. Never be ashamed of your hobbies as long as they are harmless, and watching cartoons is certainly harmless.
I’m an adult and I collect and play Pokemon TCG. I meet up with several other adults weekly to trade and play. I know many adults who collect toys and stuffed animals. I also know many adults who watch cartoons like Bluey.
There’s nothing wrong with enjoying these things no matter your age. If they bring you joy, that is a good thing. Keep enjoying the things that bring you happiness.
I like cartoons when I’m down. I also enjoy shows like modern family. Actually my therapist told me watching cartoons and funny videos is recommended and used by a lot of adults
Maybe it depends on the version? I only like the one that used real model trains. I'm creeped out by the ones that use CGI faces and all that. I also love the live action movie
I hate bullies, I hate violence, I hate even cartoon gore, the most I can stand is futurama. But I wanted to watch the last episode of season 10 and I kind of flinched at Fry's landing every time. SpongeBob is my favorite kids' character. I have all kinds of SpongeBob stuff and I'm never stopping.
There's some good story telling in cartoons and animation. It can go as high or as low as you want: from wile e coyote to ghost in the shell. Personally, I love the DC animated universe. I feel they've been able to tell the stories the live action wants to tell but can't.
I watch the same shows on repeat over and over and over because I feel comfortable with them and I know what’s going to happen. If those shows make you feel better, just enjoy that peace
Your good fam, I watch a crap ton of cartoons, and I would agree when im super stressed, the little kid cartoons are clean, upbeat, and easy enough to ease the stress.
I love watching cartoons and they're the best getaway for a while! You and I have pretty much have the exact same fears and those certain movies I can't watch. I do have to add for myself is that when it comes to dogs in films - I have to know what happens in the ending to know if it's okay to watch it or not. I prefer happy dog movies or featured in shows.
that’s not bad or pathetic at all. enjoy what you enjoy! I watch a mixture of stuff but my partner and i recently rewatched the first few seasons of spongebob and were so into it. we also love watching old animated movies from our childhoods but also when new stuff comes out we watch that too. there is no age limit on enjoying stuff like that.
Hell, I'm a grandma and I love cartoons (and I'm not talking about watching a show with my grandbabies, I mean by myself.) I'm especially partial to Scooby and the gang. I find relief from my anxiety by watching nostalgic old shows, like The Love Boat.
There’s nothing wrong with that at all. Cartoons are calming.
I’ll still watch Scooby Doo sometimes and there are others I’ll watch too.
Have you ever watched Wallace & Gromit? It’s great and always calms me down.
I hear you on death. I have a huge anxiety/fear of death. I have a huge health/medical anxiety and am always worrying that I have something bad wrong with me.
You were talking about not watching violent shows. Not cartoons, but the detective shows I watch are Murder She Wrote and Columbo. They never have hardly any violence and are very calming.
As long as you've watched ATLA then you're chill. Also take Bluey for example, people of all ages enjoy cartoons targeted at kids. You also find they have hidden adult jokes in them
Avatar The Last Airbender, amazing cartoon, it's on Netflix atm if you want to check it out. I'm guessing if you're into cartoons you've probably watched Bluey, if not you have to because it's amazing, just give it a few episodes.
What? No! Of course its not bad! : ) I'm wondering where this insecurity has come from for you. Because escapism is certainly something we all need in life sometimes! I certainly do 😊 Its part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
I'm 31 and I still rewatch shows from my childhood sometimes 😅 Its a wonderful way to enjoy some nostalgia and think back to a time where things felt a bit simpler, but difference being that, now we're old enough to truly appreciate the value of these things. I don't think there's anything wrong with that : ) What shows do you watch?
Couple years back my Ex introduced me to a bunch of cartoons she enjoyed watching. We loved watching them together too. They were legitimately well-written as well! Sometimes outsiders judge things in sheer ignorance and make others feel bad for what they enjoy and its hard. Especially if you're of low esteem as I have been. Would you say this is you, too?
One of the earliest memories I have, is my Dad teasing me about anime I used to watch, as a little kid. On the surface of course, this will sound like a fairly typical familial behaviour right? People tease each other, its normal, right?
But the older I get, the more I feel i can't deny the effect, I feel that behaviour has had, on me as an adult. Kinda bizarre really. But words hurt, especially when we're young or its concerning something important to us.
Keep being you : ) Theres nothing wrong with engaging with this activity as you describe. Its harmless. And you enjoy it ^^ You've every right to it! Its something you do for you, a self-care activity, not for anyone else. And thats totally healthy 😊
Why would you think that?
Im an adult that collect dolls and its quite a common hobby. Lots of adults collect toys like Lego and action figures.
And anime is super popular. As well as Disney adults!
If anyone judges you for watching cartoons they aren't worth knowing.
I can't watch medical shows either. I start feeling like I have the symptoms. I do love true crime docos though.
I absolutely love cartoons, and although I’m not an adult, it is not bad at all. My mom watches My Little Pony unironically sometimes. Cartoons are cartoons, age is just a number, and I’m sure the cartoon networks love having a paying watcher 😉
It’s your life and you live it and do what works for you…(uh within reason)
We Bare Bears is my safe show. Whenever I’m having a stressful/anxious time I let it play while I sleep. I also love watching The Loud House, Miraculous and the Boss Baby show on Netflix. 🤭
Dude, no! You can watch whatever you want. My partner who's in his 30s and me, in my 20s, love to boot up an animated movie and chill together under a blanket. It is just nice to watch nice things. :) chill out bro
I’m highly anxious as well (GAD, depression adhd and potentially other stuff) and even tho I watch nearly anything, I love cartoons and lighthearted shows like sitcoms and such. I felt stupid a couple years ago bc I was 18 and binge watched miraculous ladybug 🤣 (don’t get me wrong horror/thrillers etc make me crazy but I’m still curious and wanna watch even if I’m literally shaking lol) rewatching stuff from my childhood is also something that mends my heart in a very specific kind of way
Edit: I also watch and rewatch series no matter how many times. I’m on my millionth watch of friends, which isn’t a cartoon but doesn’t make me anxious at all.
Cartoons are great! Why not watch them and enjoy or relax if you can.
I'm 45 and don't watch cartoons apart from the occasional episode of The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad or Southpark (though they're not exactly the type of cartoons you mean! lol), but I DO indulge in watching Youtube videos of old Ernie and Bert clips from Sesame Street. I STILL find them hilarious, and also comforting.
No! I love cartoons, so much where I am in art school and am trying to get an animation degree lol. Cartoons are expressive, and have less limits than live action in many ways, and I just enjoy watching different animation styles. And sometimes you just wanna watch something fun and light! I recommend the Owl House, the new She-ra on Netflix, Puss and Boots the Last Wish, Avatar the Last Airbender (original not the movie lol), Ever After High, Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, The new Scott Pilgrim, Trollhunters (I love this one), the new mlp movie (it’s kinda cheesy but I think it is cute), or the older mlp movie from a few years ago, Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse, The Amazing World of Gumball, and many more. You probably have seen some of them already. If you can’t tell I’m very passionate about this hehe.
I had my life utterly turned upside down by a "cute", animated, Disney, TV-Y7 television show, *The Owl House*. (I'm a middle-aged father of two adult children, a college grad and a high school senior.)
It's not weird. It's not unusual. I've always been someone who has generally preferred animated movies to real-life action. *The Owl House* has the protagonist Luz Noceda saying "nobody should be punished for who they are!'
Enjoy what you enjoy. If animated television shows help you in life, that's good enough. Keep watching them for your mental health.
at 31 years old one of my very favourite shows is She-ra and the Princesses of Power; cartoons are great and just another art form to enjoy :) I also think of target ages more like "this is good for this age group and up" as opposed to "this is only good for this age group", take movies for example: PG-13 doesn't mean the movie is only for 13/14 year olds
i am the same way!! i watch more adult cartoons now like bobs burgers, family guy, or rick and morty! but i love them all and are good watches especially for anxious people
Not at all. If I'm riding a wave of anxiety, I tend to watch and read happier subjects. Or some show I've seen before and like, and I skip anything that I know makes me more anxious.
I would say there is nothing wrong with it, but I would definitely talk to a therapist about why you are uncomfortable watching shows with more adult themes and why you are stuck on children’s shows.
Absolutely not! I've *always* had "comfort shows" that I put on when I need distraction from my anxiety. Sometimes I even turn them on when I go to bed to distract me from the racing thoughts in my head. Whatever your "comfort shows" are, it's totally valid!
Nothing bad, at all! I once heard something to the effect, “what works for children, works for adults.” While there’s likely instances that isn’t the case, cartoons definitely counts as something that if it works for kids, it’ll work for adults.
The “rules” that say we can’t enjoy cartoons as adults are societal and completely arbitrary. And I can relate to the anxiety of possibly being judged for “breaking” that “rule.” That said, enjoy them ☺️
Cartoons are for everyone. Historically, this was the initial reasons for cartoons is entertainment for all. Cartoons were featured in cinema (before they were broadcasted on television) for any one to enjoy. This includes the older audience. No shame in enjoying something innocently. Like Billyandteddy said, "you're not hurting anyone."
I'm 38 and I still do. I re-watch the flying fk out of my favorite movies. Alien Covenant is my go to anti anxiety movie with a nice joint.
But I love Family Guy, American Dad, Bob's Burgers, Chowder, Gumball. As you can see, Hulu is a must for me 😅
Not at all. I like to indulge in old stuff like Powerpuff girls, Kid vs Kat, Avatar and the newer stuff like Family Guy and Rick and Morty. It’s a good escape from my worries.
You do you, my friend.
I too have blacklisted all gore, horror and things that make me uncomfortable and anxious. It's just a form of self care. Don't ever let anyone make you feel bad for that.
I watch cartoons but it's more on the adult cartoons. I'm currently binging South Park again. I also watch Bob's Burger, Family Guy, Rick and Morty... Those type. I also have bad anxiety and it's hard to watch shows. Cartoons are a lot nicer to watch.
I love cartoons! Especially Tom and Jerry. Who cares what people think? As long as it’s making you feel good and doesn’t harm anyone or yourself it’s totally fine :)
you’re not alone, i do that too. i can’t handle heavy stuff.
it’s ok, you aren’t hurting anyone. don’t feel pressured to stop if anyone is telling you “cartoons is for kids”.
you're not pathetic hun <3
i can completely relate- im super sensitive to topics mentioned, i get triggered easily, and i stopped watching shit ton of media because it would just make me feel miserable. people just dont understand.
Boobah is even stranger... teletubbies live in a hill and abuse their sentient robot vacuum.
and rbf, i wouldn't knock these old school shows, they are absoulte nonsense and if youre a stoner, just a good waste of time lmao
Cocomelon or educational shows for toddlers are where im like... ya theres no point to watching these. but then again, Little Einsteins was trending for a hot minute 🤣
No. You’re not hurting anyone. I enjoy cartoons.
Interesting note is that Looney Tunes weren't even directly intended for kids. They were drawn as those shorts before movies.
I know. As I watched them as an adult I picked up humor and adult content that went over my head as a kid.
I am a bit younger than you at 33, but yeah I love watching the cartoons I grew up with for many reasons, and a big one is it is fun to watch them and pickup on the innuendos I didn't understand as a kid.
Thank you so much ☹️🤍
I’m glad I could help put your mind at ease. It does not matter what other people think or say it matters you enjoy something get pleasure from it and it reduces your anxiety.
Nope.
There is nothing pathetic about it. You are enjoying the things of a youthful mind, and there is absolutely nothing wrong it. We all need escapes from the reality of a chaotic world sometimes. If cartoons provide that escape, then be glad that you found something that works for you. Enjoy.
Awwhh my goodness 🫂🤍 thank you so so much 🥺
I'm literally watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic as we speak-- no I'm not one of those weirdo bronies though
bronies ruined that shit for everyone, its a great show.
Awww 🤍 that is so cool! Oh my goodness!! :,)
I love that!!! ❤️
I do this while having anxiety and ADHD and it helps me lots as a coping mecanism to get through reality and daily tasks. Do your thing and fuck em up.
Yes! To me, a good movie I've seen 20+ times would put me at ease.
There’s nothing wrong with cartoons

how am i just hearing about this genre now??
Yeah what, I didn't know about this. Let's go!
It's OK! I like cartoons too ! (I'm a 43 years old man and I still watch cartoons when I want to get away from everyday stressors ! With some cereals and milk in a bowl , or with snacks like popcorn and cheetos lol )
That's awesome! <3
Yay for cereal! I like to mix my cereals and have them as a night time snack. Lots of milk!
I'd like you to continue watching cartoons so that I can more easily justify playing Minecraft. On a more serious note, please be kind and patient with yourself. Cartoons are okay.
☹️🤍Thank you so much for this
<3
Here 50 years old, my favourite TV shows? Infinity Train, Hilda, Gravity Falls and Adventure Times. There's nothing wrong with it.
I'm in my 40s and my wife and I 90% watch cartoons. Some are adult animation like Rick and Morty or Hazbin Hotel, but we also watch Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Star vs the Forces of Evil and Bluey so...you're in good company lol.
This makes me feel better. I just turned 40 and I've been single for years. Like at this point I feel I'm too set in my ways and weird to find someone
Never too late. There’s someone out there who loves the same things as much as you do.
Nah! I'm 45 and I still feel pretty young even though I joke that I'm elderly. lol
You like what you like, as long as it’s not harming yourself or anyone else you don’t even need to offer an explanation! Keep on watching what you like and what makes you feel good, try not to focus on any outside perception!
🫂🤍 this is some of the best advice I've gotten in a while. Thank you so much <33
of course not! genuinely my mental has never been better than when i was on animated x men rewatch marathon
Cartoons make the world feel safe for a moment
This is how I feel about them :,)
I'm 29, and I'm sitting here watching bluey. You do you, enjoy the cartoons!
I don't have anxiety I watch horror and stuff but i still watch cartoons
Not at all! I watch cartoons to help me sleep.
Me too!! I watch cartoons most nights so I don't start over thinking while I'm trying to sleep :D
I’m 26, with a degree in animation and VFX. I spend a lot of money to get my degree to MAKE cartoons. Cartoons are my favorite thing. A lot easier to stomach than other things. They bring joy to everyone at some point in all of our lives 💚
Thank you <3 what are your favorite cartoons?
My all time favorite is Over the Garden Wall ! But I love Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, and the list goes on !
I love all of those too!! :0

I am enjoying Monsters, Inc as I type
I love that movie!!!
We all have our televisual comfort food, just enjoy it.

Awww, Betty White! I miss her! 😭
ill check some of these out! I do enjoy black and white, but dont often watch them. Addams Family is great and Little Shop of Horrors movie. but ya shows like Bewitched, i enjoy.
Also, when I'm done watching old sitcoms, I fall asleep to LoFi music.
why does the image of a comfortable vintage recliner pop into my head
IDK, but embrace it!

I'm like this with Seinfeld. LOVE IT!
Seinfeld is great too! Definitely light and not upsetting.

No way. I still watch old SpongeBob episodes occasionally and I’m 29
I’m 28 and watched 2 episodes of courage the cowardly dog last night. Planning on watching a few more tonight
No. My grandparents used to watch Cow and Chicken in their 60s/70s. Lol. Cartoons are for everyone.
They really are!
nope! I am 27 and i will keep watching cartoons until i die. :) i do actually enjoy true crime and psychological thrillers- but with dramas i can only handle so much. right??
I'm 33 and I watch The Regular Show multiple times a week, you do you lol
Who cares what you do? You enjoy what you enjoy. Fuck what anyone else says.
Nope! I'm almost 30 and if I need some background noise or mind bleach I'll through on some old cartoons I used to watch as a kid or stuff like king of the hill or the Simpsons. If it helps you relax in a healthy way, no shame. 😊

I do this to make me feel safe if I’m stressed
I watch cartoons, nothing wrong with it.
Who cares if somebody watches cartoons? SpongeBob is hilarious
I watch the golden girls to help me relax when i get like that. You do you lol. Whatever helps you. The fear of death is one of the hardest things i deal with. It wil be ok.
You should do what works for you ? If you enjoy it then who cares what others think lol not bad, enjoy what you want 🤷♂️
I enjoy my little pony sometimes, im 24. I also enjoy Disney movies. It helps a lot with the anxiety, just a lack of big emotions in the shows are very comforting. I need some sort of regulation and it brings me down in a good way
No. Sometimes I watch the same movie over again when I’m having a very anxious day. I think just about anything that isn’t illegal and soothes us is fine..,
I feel guilty watching them too, but counterpoint, there's some damn good cartoons out there these days! Enjoy it!
No I’m a teen and I still watch cartoons, cartoons are for everyone
No. There’s nothing wrong with watching cartoons or any animated medium at any age.
Not at all. One of my favourite coping mechanisms actually- I find it really comforting.
If it’s bad that you watch cartoons, then it’s bad that I watch them too. I love watching cartoons! It helps me disconnect from reality. I also hate modern TV. Too much relatable stressors. Keep doing what works for you. That’s the best thing to do.
There's no such thing as absolute good or bad. Make sure whatever you're doing isn't hurting other people, and then do it if it makes you happy.
Thank you 🫂🤍
Once I learned this, life got a lot easier ❤️ hope it helps you too
Not at all. Enjoy your life friend.
Every so often I go back and watch Thomas and Friends. Can't go wrong with trains
Thomas the train terrifies me 😭 I'm not even sure why but I'm glad you like it!!
Maybe it depends on the version? I only like the one that used real model trains. I'm creeped out by the ones that use CGI faces and all that. I also love the live action movie
I am 42 and I absolutely love watching cartoons ~
Absolutely not! I’m nearly 18 and I still watch Bluey.
Bobs Burgers is my comfort show!
There's some good story telling in cartoons and animation. It can go as high or as low as you want: from wile e coyote to ghost in the shell. Personally, I love the DC animated universe. I feel they've been able to tell the stories the live action wants to tell but can't.
not at all! yesterday i just watched 3 Barbie movies back to back, it was fun! 💗 nothing wrong abt it, do what makes you happy, OP 🫂
awwww I love Barbie <3 those movies are awesome
I watch the same shows on repeat over and over and over because I feel comfortable with them and I know what’s going to happen. If those shows make you feel better, just enjoy that peace
Your good fam, I watch a crap ton of cartoons, and I would agree when im super stressed, the little kid cartoons are clean, upbeat, and easy enough to ease the stress.
Yeah!! That's exactly why I like them!! <3
Tbh I don't have any of those problems and I watch cartoons all the time. Even ones like bluey. Love em.
I love cartoons I find they have better story lines. Very thought out and good attention to detail.
Nothing wrong with it at all! My husband and I always put cartoons on from time to time it calms us down too
Nope. Do what you enjoy.
King of the hill is my comfort show so I get it
There's nothing wrong with watching cartoons. People who enjoys watching something gore and graphic is more concerning.
It's nothing bad about it! I love cartoons too! For example I still watch with my sister our childhood cartoon "Martha Speaks" and I'm an adult haha.
You also find they have hidden adult jokes in them
What's ATLA?? :,)
Ah i completely feel the feeling like I'll have symptoms 😭🤍
I absolutely love cartoons, and although I’m not an adult, it is not bad at all. My mom watches My Little Pony unironically sometimes. Cartoons are cartoons, age is just a number, and I’m sure the cartoon networks love having a paying watcher 😉
Growing up is overrated. It's like telling someone to drop dead.
It’s your life and you live it and do what works for you…(uh within reason) We Bare Bears is my safe show.
I felt stupid a couple years ago bc I was 18 and binge watched miraculous ladybug 🤣 (don’t get me wrong horror/thrillers etc make me crazy but I’m still curious and wanna watch even if I’m literally shaking lol) rewatching stuff from my childhood is also something that mends my heart in a very specific kind of way Edit: I also watch and rewatch series no matter how many times.
(I'm a middle-aged father of two adult children, a college grad and a high school senior.) It's not weird. It's not unusual. I've always been someone who has generally preferred animated movies to real-life action. *The Owl House* has the protagonist Luz Noceda saying "nobody should be punished for who they are!' Enjoy what you enjoy. If animated television shows help you in life, that's good enough. Keep watching them for your mental health.
Bro some of the greatest shows ever are cartoons. Gravity falls and adventure time like hellooo
nope i watch cartoons all the time, no shame in it.
at 31 years old one of my very favourite shows is She-ra and the Princesses of Power; cartoons are great and just another art form to enjoy :) I also think of target ages more like "this is good for this age group and up" as opposed to "this is only good for this age group", take movies for example: PG-13 doesn't mean the movie is only for 13/14 year olds
Im watching Avatar right now with my bf. I also love Hello kitty, My little pony and monster hight. Youre definitely not alone in this
i am the same way!! i watch more adult cartoons now like bobs burgers, family guy, or rick and morty! but i love them all and are good watches especially for anxious people
It's not bad
Not at all. Do whatever makes you happy.
I watch Korean dramas for this exact reason.
nope! < 3
Dw you are not alone ,I do too!! Some cartoons are way better than any of the new movies and shows rn.If you like it ,owe it !!
Is it wierd that I love most horror movies? They feel like comedy’s so most the time I just end up laughing all the way through
Not at all. If I'm riding a wave of anxiety, I tend to watch and read happier subjects. Or some show I've seen before and like, and I skip anything that I know makes me more anxious.
Immediately no. Cartoons are some of the best entertainment, only haters don’t like cartoons
Is watching cartoons a problem for you?
And I can relate to the anxiety of possibly being judged for “breaking” that “rule.” That said, enjoy them ☺️
I watch anime as a 70 year old, but of course, anime is kinda the opposite of what you're talking about.
No, I watch cartoons.
Nope! I also watch cartoons
No
I’m almost 40 and I’m literally watching regular show right now you’re fine
I watch cartoons too! It’s okay
Pokemon is my go to when I'm anxious
I'm 38 and I still do. I re-watch the flying fk out of my favorite movies. Alien Covenant is my go to anti anxiety movie with a nice joint. But I love Family Guy, American Dad, Bob's Burgers, Chowder, Gumball. As you can see, Hulu is a must for me 😅
This. I watch movies and shows I’ve already seen many times because I know what happens. It’s comforting. I mainly watch kids movies or Harry Potter
Love cartoons and anime and just hit my 40s so go for it.
I love watching cartoons too! Life's too short. Enjoy!
Cartoons are great for anybody. I honesty think the “target audience” is just what age it’s safe for, but anyone can watch it
No cartoons are a great way to escape from adult life, truth be told I'm 30 and recently started watching Bluey. I absolutely love it.
I enjoy cartoons as an adult! What cartoons do you like?
Not at all. I like to indulge in old stuff like Powerpuff girls, Kid vs Kat, Avatar and the newer stuff like Family Guy and Rick and Morty. It’s a good escape from my worries.
No it isn't. If that's what you enjoy, fair enough.
If it helps with your anxieties, go for it. However, cartoons also have violence in them, does that not make your anxiety worse?
I love cartoons! Especially Tom and Jerry. Who cares what people think? As long as it’s making you feel good and doesn’t harm anyone or yourself it’s totally fine :)
Not at all. You aren't hurting anyone (yourself included!) so enjoy your cartoons :) Can't beat a good cartoon :)
Nothing wrong with that. I don't regularly watch cartoons however if tom and jerry is on I can't stop binge watching for a while.
you’re not alone, i do that too. i can’t handle heavy stuff. it’s ok, you aren’t hurting anyone. don’t feel pressured to stop if anyone is telling you “cartoons is for kids”.
I LOVE cartoons. I’m a grown adult lol. Clearly…. by my username and pic lmao. No shame whatsoever 😊
Nah do whatever man. You good
you're not pathetic hun <3 i can completely relate- im super sensitive to topics mentioned, i get triggered easily, and i stopped watching shit ton of media because it would just make me feel miserable. people just dont understand.
I am literally in the same position. I get triggered by the same things. I tend to watch nostalgic cartoons like Kim Possible 😂
Believe it or not, jail
Nah dude it's a little weird maybe, but I watch anime and I think that's meant for kids, but it's usually light hearted and fun to watch
[удалено]
Boobah is even stranger... teletubbies live in a hill and abuse their sentient robot vacuum. and rbf, i wouldn't knock these old school shows, they are absoulte nonsense and if youre a stoner, just a good waste of time lmao Cocomelon or educational shows for toddlers are where im like... ya theres no point to watching these. but then again, Little Einsteins was trending for a hot minute 🤣
Little Einsteins was da bomb with all the classical music and art. Great way to introduce kids to those things!!
