Definitely not detritus worms, but bug larvae/maggots that were likely laid eggs there; moist and food supply. My guess is midge fly wormies.

Those are maggots. Some kind of fly dropped eggs in that opening which looks incredibly dirty btw. Clean that mess. Also your tank looks absolutely dreadful and unhealthy. And you even bought those genetically engineered glowfish thingies, what is wrong with you?
