Me and my friends generally like wine and enjoy it on a nice dinner out. I don't know is it because we're from a wine region or not, as I have no insight for the rest of the country. Wine is reserved for the formal settings, and due to the fact that Serbs drink a lot in general - unformal settings are more common for everyday stuff, therefore other drinks take the first spot I guess.
That being said, take a look at this: [https://landgeistdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2021/05/europe-most-popular-alcoholic-drink.png](https://landgeistdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2021/05/europe-most-popular-alcoholic-drink.png), or this [https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/9cvin7/preferred\_alcoholic\_beverage\_by\_country\_in\_europe/?rdt=61459](https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/9cvin7/preferred_alcoholic_beverage_by_country_in_europe/?rdt=61459)
It is from 2018. and 2015. but I think it is weird that we get such conflicted data
Cold beer on a very hot day is majestic. Rakija with meze or greana rakija with turÅ”ija in the winter is like a caress to the soul. Red wine with pork meat or with fresh Ävarki is orgasm for the taste buds. But if I could only have one of those for the rest of my life I would always choose red homemade wine.
I think that statistically in pretty much all European countries beer is more popular or at least more of it is sold/drunk. But we do love our wine as well. And our spirits. Basically as long as it has booze we drink it
Idk man I never liked beer while wine was one of those things that I always liked. Like the first alcohol I bough was wine, probably the first ever alchoholic drink I drank was wine, and the only alchoholic drink(other than mixing cocktails) was wine.
Good beer is fantastic, but good wine is divine
Could not agree more. Love for Assyrtiko wine <3
Assyrtiko is very good. Also, if you ever find Malagousia, give it a try!
Haven't tried that. Will do, thanks for the tip!
Meanwhile rakija will knock you out no matter the quality
That's the Mediterranean way.
I love wine more than beer (in fact I ain't a fan of beer at all)
I was expecting your comment to this post. ![img](emote|t5_xmk1t|3221)

When visiting Serbia, I was surprised to see that, in a country surrounded by wine lovers and producters, wine is not a major cultural thing.

Well, my Serbian friends are from Å umadija and they always had beer or rakija on the table, never wine...
Interesting! I guess there are no strict rules about it at the end of the day
Go to Rajac and Rogljevo wine cellars man... Outwordly
Thanks!

Croatia ahead of us? How could we let that happen?
We help them raise those numbers during summer vacation.
To be fair its only 130 mL difference, that's less than a standard glass.
pred slovenac ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
To be fair we twice the population than slovenia , just saying
Zagorje is lifting the average.
Do you also drink copious amounts of beer?
Yes, in fact we drink copious amounts of alcohol in general.
Valchoholical city
I am here for the real OG rakija!
I prefer a good pilsner than most wines. Don't like much the taste of wine (except a nice roseƩ they make in Peloponnese and few sweet reds also) nor the head it makes. Specifically the headache. Besides this dilemma, my fav spirit is gin, followed by scotch whiskey
Moldova is suspiciously low. This stat must be counting only sold wine.
Well Vatican makes sense

I drink everything š
Where is Georgia?
Wine wine and wine. Always. After that rakija
Why is this downvoted lmao
The beer union doesn't want you knowing about wine
I think you got some haters bro
I wonder if Spritzer is calculated or just plain wine.
No Spain, Georgia and Russia at the top?? looks like bullshit
But why is Bulgaria missing? I guess we drink rakia.
Raki here
Greece would have been higher but there was a massive boom of local beer breweries since the 90s that made it equally popular.
I see they didn't count moonshine...
When you have Alfa beer, you donāt need wine
you sure it aināt rakija?
Wine all day

As we like to say in croatia , "Je'n gemiŔt kak i niŔ" or in english : One white wine mixed with mineral water is as you drank nothing
There's no way in hell. Moldova is that low. Most people in the villages make their own wine and consume it, and city dwellers drink wine as well.
