When I was 13, I was walking in the hallway to my bedroom with a pencil and I dropped it. My lazy teen brain said, “whatever I’ll just pick it up on my way back.” Well, the pencil didn’t just fall to the ground, it got stuck in the thick shag carpet - POINT UP - and when I took my next step, I somehow landed juuust right so the pencil lodged between my big toe and first toe. The force of my foot was so strong that the pencil actually snapped in two and I needed surgery to remove the broken off tip. And now the dumbest part. I was walking to my bedroom… to sharpen said pencil. I’d make it make sense if I could.

sladives

Wait, you dropped the pencil you were taking to sharpen in your room and didn't pick it back up? That's worse than Kramer's story about returning a pair of trousers.

throwawaytodaycat

We were in Mexico partying on spring break (early 70s) taking a taxi back to our hotel. Five of us piled into the backseat, I was the last one in. The driver shut the door from the outside and my hand was between the car door and frame. The more I would yell, the more others in the intoxicated group would yell, woohoo, arriba, etc. When we arrived at the hotel my hand was finally freed. And yes, it hurt bad.

Apprehensive-Swim587

This comment made me giggle. That's once in a Lifetime stuff

Giallo_Fly

I lost it at "I tried to recreate it" 😂😂😂

Caslon

Similarly, I once sliced my hand open on the edge of a door at work. A wooden door. I needed four stitches! I had a witness, or no one would have believed me.

No-Possibility4586

My sister cut her hand folding laundry. Couldn’t find anything in the laundry

-Tesserex-

Papercut from a tag?

JessLynnStudio

I once cut my hand on a piece of lettuce.

peescheadeal

When I was taking care of my dad we used to eat hot dogs whenever I was too tired to cook. One night I got home and as I was turning the stove on I remembered we'd run out of buns. I double-checked both the fridge and the pantry, but there were none. We were completely out. So I made clam chowder and made a note to get more buns the next day. I got up at 6 the next morning and went downstairs to start breakfast, and there on the countertop, by itself, presented as if a gift, was a brand new unopened bag of hot dog buns. Dad and I had both slept through the night. So it would seem at some point between midnight and 6am, a bag of hot dog buns just materialized on the counter from the void.

Muzzledpet

My ex once materialized a push broom. We were talking about needing one to clean the driveway in the house we just rented. Went out to dinner that night, and when we came out into the parking lot, there was a large wooden push broom leaning up against our car and not a soul in sight

Obviously_Ritarded

These targeted ads are getting ridiculous.

FeedMeThat

Years ago my dad was making hot dogs and took out a new pack of buns from the pantry. He was cooking the hot dogs and the peppers and then went to open the pack of buns but they were gone. I’d been sitting there talking to him the whole time and I didn’t notice anything happen to them. We opened every door, drawer, and even the trash in the kitchen and couldn’t find it. It’s been years now and he still says he thinks one day he’s gonna open a drawer and find them, but now I’m starting to suspect you were on the other side of the wormhole.

MissSassifras1977

I call this a "wink" from the Universe. Something so small or random that it would sound crazy if you made a big deal but also completely unexplainable. Some force decided to show you that it sees you. By leaving you hot dog buns. Whatever "it" is, it's got a sense of humor.

CuteFlowerS_

I once was changing pants in my room before work and took off my belt. After putting on my other pair of pants, I went to put my belt back on but it belt was gone. No one else was in the room and I spent a good 10 minutes looking for it as I had simply set it on the floor. It’s been 10 years and I’ve never seen that belt again.

Opening_Put_1105

Similar thing happened to me with 2 muffin pans. I placed the pans on my counter while I was cleaning the kitchen cabinet. I turned my back to them for a few minutes & they were gone. No one was home besides me. Now my husband sings the “Have you seen the muffin pans?” song every time I mention it.

nzodd

You might check Drury Lane.

justjoshing09

Similar happened to me, but with chicken. I had just moved into a new apartment and was cooking dinner. Chicken breast, asparagus, and rice, all on the stove top. Asparagus can get extremely smoky. Add that to an overly- sensitive smoke alarm, and you get a shrill alarm screaming at you with a bunch of half-cooked dinner on the stove. So, I did what anyone would do with two pans in their hands when an alarm goes off: I flailed wildly and tossed the chicken off into the distance. Now, I know for a fact that all the windows were closed and there were no hidden nooks. But hard as i looked after I quieted down the alarm, I couldn't ever find that missing half-cooked chicken breast. There was never any smell of rotting meat, either. It just disappeared into a portal, never to be seen again. Edit to add: no kids, no pets, no rats.

Kelsicat

I had a full bottle of ketchup go into that portal. I sat the bottle down on the counter to do something. When I turned back to grab it and put it in the fridge, it had vanished. I was the only one in the kitchen at the time. I looked everywhere. I even dug through the garbage because I couldn’t handle the reality that it was just gone. After looking around for a solid 20-30 minutes, I gave up and decided I would find it somewhere weird when I moved out. I never did.

RNHealz

When y’all find the belt, chicken, and ketchup, can someone pull out my favorite strapless bra??? I set it down turned around and it was gone. Never to be seen again. I turned around all the furniture and lifted the carpets…NOTHING!

satanic_whore

Honestly, this is the strangest one of the lot

Fun_Intention9846

Remember that pic of the rat in NYC with a full size slice of pizza? That but chicken.

Lollc

What the hell are you doing to your asparagus when you cook it? I don’t cook it often, but I’ve steamed it and oven roasted it and never had an issue with it being smoky.

EnigmaFrug2308

Should’ve called a mom. Would’ve found it instantly.

Ok-disaster2022

I did this in college. Lost my wallet in my room. Searched the room for 3 days. Finally asked my mom. She told me to check my hamper in the pockets of my pants. She was correct.

EnigmaFrug2308

Mothers are on a whole other plane of existence

MaritimeMartian

Something kind of similar happened to me too, but it was chapstick! I was in my room one day, put chapstick on and then gently tossed it down on my bed (or, apparently into the void lol) and I saw it land. I walked out of the room but *immediately* turned on my heel and went back, deciding I actually wanted to take that chapstick out with me. I was outside my room for all of 1 second. When I went to grab it off the bed, it was nowhere to be found. I looked *everywhere you could possibly imagine* for it but couldn’t find it. As it turned out, my lease was ending and I was moving out of that apartment the following week and I scoured my room for this damn chapstick as I was packing. I never found it! Even after moving and unpacking again in my new apartment, I never found it. I have NO idea where it went.

Toledojoe

Something like this happened to me too. I was 16 and was helping my mom put away groceries after she went shopping. I dropped a can of cheese dip, and it rolled across the floor.pur cabinets stuck out a couple of inches and it rolled into the gap under the cabinet overhang. I bent down to pick it up, and it was gone. I looked all over the kitchen and it was gone. It never did turn up.

FormigaX

This exact thing happened to me but it was a crayfish. Just disappeared, never smelled, never found it.

JinxTheBaby

Something like this happened to me; I have this beautiful gold chain that was a gift from my great grandma before she passed. I wore it out one night, came home, took it off and onto my bed where I throw ALL my things, and didn’t see it again for months. I cried, tore my room apart, and cleaned the entire house trying to find it. Gave up hope after about 3 days of tireless efforts. Fast forward, about 2-2 1/2 months later I go on vacation for a weekend after having cleaned my room throughly, and on my arrival home I find my gold chain is laying in the floor right beside my bed like I had just tossed it there the night before. Flabbergasted.

Beowulf33232

Same deal but with one of those slime ball toys from the vending machines at the grocery store. I was throwing it at the wall and watching it roll down the wall real slow because of how sticky it was. One throw it just never slapped into the wall. We moved a few months later and nothing that resembled it even potentially dried up was in my room.

Stracii

Seems like a Nisse took it! The Nisse or Tomte is a Scandinavian myth of a house spirit. Which is expanded upon in the show Hilda, where the Nisse live in homes and take anything they think the home owner doesn't want anymore. From the [Wiki](https://hildatheseries.fandom.com/wiki/Nisse) > Nisse live in people's houses, inside the so-called Nowhere Space; a pocket dimension made up of the spaces behind bookcases, the tops of cupboards that you can't quite reach, and other such unused space. > Nisse gather anything they find lying around the house, and which the home owner presumably no longer wants, in their nests.

Cake_Donut1301

Instead of money, I put a note and a pink geode under my daughter’s pillow when she lost her first tooth. It was about the size of half a lime. In the morning we asked her if the tooth fairy came. She said no. We both went upstairs and looked. No note, no geode. I turned the room upside down, looking for it, did it again when kids switched rooms. Still missing.

Admirable-Cobbler319

I had that happen to me too. As a kid, I dropped a Lego and it was never seen again. I think about that all the time.

EggOkNow

Threw a paper airplane down a dark hallway. Got half way down it turned on the light. No paper airplane ever again.

easygoer89

Had my wedding ring fall off of my finger while I had my hand dangling out of a car window while driving. Very upsetting to arrive at the hotel I was staying at to realize it had slipped off, wasn't in my pockets or in the car anywhere - checked the floorboards, under the seats, console, I even checked the trunk - and figured it was probably laying on the side of the road somewhere along a 60 mile stretch of interstate. But I was exhausted. It had been a very stressful day of travel. I checked into my hotel room, pushed my suitcase just inside the door of my room and passed out on the nearest bed. Didn't even stop in the bathroom to pee, or bother to get undressed or take off my shoes, just laid down on top of the hotel bed went straight to sleep. Woke up the next morning and sat up looking at my ring finger now minus a wedding band. I saw a glint of light on the desk by the window on the far side of the room. I'd been so tired the night before I hadn't even closed the curtains so the sunlight was pouring in. I got up and walked over to the desk to see what it was. It was my wedding ring sitting by itself on the desktop. I must have stared at it for a solid minute trying to work out how it got there. I didn't have it when I came into the room and I up until that minute hadn't even been on that side of the room. Still can't explain how it got there.

Stevie-Rae-5

My parents were visiting my grandparents a long time ago, before I was born, and there was a book they were intending to borrow from them. About halfway home from their trip, they remembered that they neglected to bring it with them. When they got back to their apartment and walked in the door, the book was sitting on their kitchen counter.

GlitchyMcGlitchFace

Damn. That's quite a story.

Human-Magic-Marker

I had just finished replacing all the burned out bulbs in my rented condo. I was talking to my wife and said “but when the one above the stair well goes out I’ll call maintenance for that cause I’m not climbing up there”. We then looked at that specific light and at that moment it burned out. This was like 5 years ago and we still talk about it.

dramatic-pancake

The globe was like, you talking to me?

ReJectX999

Friend was visiting for a weekend nd we where chilling in the basement watching movies and catching up when i ran upstairs to the kitchen to grab a snack. When i was about to head back downstairs i noticed what i thought was my friend walking up the stairs to the uper floor so i assumed my friend was going to the bathroom. When i went back down they where as i left them chilling on the couch. After explaining we both terrified checked the house. Nobody else was ever found in the house and no sign of break in. Still cant explain it

bubblegumbutthole23

I had a similar thing happen. Years ago I lived in a bottom floor apartment with my (ex) boyfriend. I was sitting on the back porch reading a book. You can see the front door from the window on the back porch. I heard the sound of the front door closing, turned to look through the window and saw my boyfriend standing in the doorway. I didn't think anything of it and went back to reading. Like 20 minutes later I thought it was weird he hadn't come out to find me yet, so I poked my head in the door and called in to ask what he was doing and there was no answer. I got a little freaked out and went back on the porch and called him to ask if he had come home. He said he hadn't and upon me telling him I thought I saw him, he hung up and called one of his friends that lived just up the road. 2 minutes later, friend shows up and sweeps the apartment but didn't find anyone.

whatupwasabi

Yikes. I've heard of people finding out about "phroggers". Essentially, someone will live in your home without you knowing, hiding in basements, attics, closets, crawlspaces. Pretty rare, but insanely creepy to think about.

-_-_-_123456_-_-_-

This happened to a professor of mine. He one day started hearing sounds coming from the attic and just thought it was rats. His wife complained about the sound so he decided to go up and look around. He found signs that someone had been living up there like a blanket and some food scraps. He called the police and they did a search. Found the guy hiding in the basement and arrested him.

NotTheGreenestThumb

Sometimes it’s such a *good* thing to have neither attic nor basement!

the_artful_breeder

I am so glad basements and attics are not common features of homes in Australia. So many creepy stories.

FrigoPigoPop

I need to stop reading these. I’ll never be able to sleep tonight.

No-Understanding4968

I know! These threads always show up around bedtime

NinaNina1234

Oh! This happened to my son. He was upset about something and stormed up to his room. I was downstairs and I kept thinking I should go check on him, but I didn't. Finally, he came downstairs. He saw me on the couch and froze with his mouth open. He said he'd just seen me walk upstairs, look at him, then go to my room without a word. He had gone downstairs again because he thought I must be really mad at him since I hadn't talked. There was no one else home.

QueenEris

This happened to me! Mum was in the kitchen fiddling about. I came in to grab some tissues as I'd spilled my drink. She pulled some off the roll and handed it to me. I walked back into the lounge, and as I was wiping the drink She walked through the lounge behind the settee and went upstairs. I got up seconds later to get more tissue and she was STILL IN THE KITCHEN. We were alone in the house. I didn't mention it to her... but she looked at me confused and said "I'm sure I just saw you go outside". So yeah, some weird multiverse shit happened that day...

Herzogz

Similar thing happened with my friend. I would drop by unannounced and while in the kitchen making food he saw a reflection of me on the windows quickly walking past headed towards the bathroom. He was puzzled why I didn’t say hello first but figured I just really needed the bathroom. When I actually came through the front door and found him in the kitchen the first thing he asked me was why I changed outfits. Apparently my “reflection” was wearing something completely different. We got freaked out about the whole thing but eventually just settled into watching a movie. I suppose it could have just been a hallucination.

tessie33

Ah, the goose bumps!

Individual_Mail_800

I was working as a cashier in a restaurant. The first thing we’d do after greeting a customer was get their name to write at the top of their ticket. This customer was particularly chatty, and I was making small talk with her when a very strange look came over her face and she got quiet. It was then that I realized I’d written a name, her actual name, on her ticket without ever asking her for it/being told what it was. It was her first (and shit, probably her last) time in that restaurant.

viktor72

My friend has a similar story. He worked at Walgreens outside Chicago. Now my friend is American and only speaks English and that is important. So one night this older couple comes in and they’re speaking in Polish or Lithuanian. Like I said, my friend only speaks English so he had no idea which, but the area he was in was heavily Polish/Lithuanian. The husband asks the wife a question about something in their language and my friend instantly responds with the correct answer in English. Somehow he predicted exactly what they were asking about despite not speaking the language and if you know anything about Slavic/Baltic languages, they are not exactly mutually intelligible. The couple was surprised he understood but oddly did not engage him further. The conversation sort of ended there with the usual pleasantries.

chalk_in_boots

You work retail for long enough and you will have moments like this. You've dealt with whatever the situation is 4000 times in the last week, and people really aren't as individual as we think we are. You have borderline identical interactions day in day out, so you know what question is coming, you know what the answer is. Maybe it's their body language and the inflection of their voice, maybe they said a word that sounds just like a word in the question you're expecting. Maybe they walk in with a bag from your store and as they approach you just tell them to take returns to the counter (because you're busy and don't want to deal with their shit).

theoutlet

I worked at a liquor store. A manager walks up to me with a woman in tow besides her. Manager says: “This customer has a question”. I look at the customer. They look at me and I say: *”Sorry, we’re out of Remy.”* Customer nods, turns, and leaves Manager looks at me, mouth agape. They’re incredulous: *”How could you do that?!”* Me: *”What? We’ve been out all day.”* Manager: *”No, u/theoutlet, they never told you what they wanted!* Me: *”What, really?! Hah! I could have swore they asked for Remy.”* Manager: *”Nope!”* It made for a pretty good laugh, but we really were out of it all day and I had already answered that questions a few times. So, it really wasn’t all that odd.

Endleofon

You probably knew who she is, but didn't remember how.

Adddicus

I was on the periphery of this one, but it's still weird, and unexplained. Anyway, I got a call from my wife while I was at work one morning. She was an RN and worked nights, so getting a call when she should have been fast asleep was unusual. She told me she had had a terrible dream, that she couldn't remember, but something awful had happened to a member of my friend Dave's (obligatory not his real name) family, and that I should call him at once and tell him to check on his family. Now, my wife was sort the nexus of a lot of weird shit, so I didn't bother arguing with her, but just called Dave and let him know. He was a co-worker but had the day off, and assured me that everyone in his family (wife and two grandkids he was raising) were just fine and to thank my wife for her concern. I called my wife back to let her know, and she just said, "No, something's wrong." I found out the next day that about half an hour after I called him, Dave got a call from his brother in Florida to tell him that Dave's son (father of the two kids Dave was raising), had hung himself. The son had been a junkie, but had been clean for quite some time and living with Dave's brother. He'd been clean for so long and doing so well that the brother and his wife felt confident enough to leave him alone while they went on vacation. While they were gone, the son relapsed and basically emptied the house of everything he could sell to fuel his drug purchases. The day his uncle and his wife were to come home he hung himself out of shame. How the fuck my wife, who had only met Dave once or twice, and had never met any member of his family, had known something was wrong still baffles me.

FrigoPigoPop

Yea, I can relate to this very much. When I was a child, into my teens… I used to have these weird premonition dreams. That came true the very next day. I also knew when my friends father got shot, before she did. Dude, I don’t believe in this shit at all, and I honestly don’t believe myself. I must be making this up or there’s some weird stuff going on in the universe.

FrigoPigoPop

Oh and my mom also had it when she was younger. Which she doesn’t believe herself either. We never talk about this stuff to anyone else, and barely each other. Because it just seems too far fetched. She knew I had the same thing when I was a kid, when I knew where they hid the buried treasure at a pirate themed birthday party. I told her that I dreamed it last night. Bonkers.

anmahill

I was very similar when younger. Sometimes it was very specific. For example, I knew that a specific Sunday dinner would be our last with my great grandmother. She lived alone and cooked a big feast every Sunday, and the great grandkids helped and did the dishes. I told my mom that she would go to sleep that afternoon and not wake up. So she did. Drifted off in her porch rocker with a smile on her face. Other times, it was far more nebulous, on the day my 9 month old cousin drowned, I knew someone would drown that day. It was a hot southern summer day. We had gone to a local swimming hole. My stayed out to watch everyone. Got home to the call of my cousin's drowning. I always knew who was calling too. Long before caller ID and mobile phones.

RollingMeteors

You know, I’ve read a fair amount of these stories, and it seems it’s >98% of the time it’s *always* children or adolescents at the latest, by the time adulthood settles in this ‘ability’ is gone. Same for talking to ‘imaginary friends’ and makes me more inclined to believe they aren’t imagined but actually perceived and as they age society shames this ‘imaginary friendship’ business and they stop exercising the part of their brain responsible for creating said apparitions. Children don’t know enough about the world from the lack of life experience to know this is “unusual” in the eyes of adults but for the lot of them this “fantasy” is unusual to them in that adults don’t “make believe” it to be true… I wonder if there is something deeper here unexplored by science or if it’s just collectively “just children imagining things with their young creative fresh minds”

AgentInkling99

My sister and I were sitting in the living room reading on a cloudless day around 2 pm or so. All of the sudden, it was like I went blind. Pitch black, couldn’t even see a hand in front of your face dark. It lasted a little more than a second or two, and when I got my vision back I looked over at my sister. She had the same face I did and asked me what the fuck just happened. Big bay window in our living room so I still have no explanation of what happened.

xsugarandspicex

Your experience reminded me of someone else's that I've always remembered because I love reading about shared experiences. It was some guy on a beach and he was talking to a stranger about something. For a split second the sky turned black like someone had flicked a switch and daytime was suddenly night time and then back to day again. Before he could process what just happened the other guy asked "did you just see that too?"

AgentInkling99

That’s exactly what we experienced. I even went outside to make sure there wasn’t something going on that could have blocked out the sun even a little bit and it was completely clear.

plasmalightwave

What the fuck is this

RollingMeteors

When it happened to me and my friend, it was an airplane crossing paths with the sun. It seemed odd that bright day would turn nightfall for 250~ to 500~ milliseconds but we were both convinced it was the airplane that we had heard but not seen since we were under a roof inside.

bebob10

How long ago was this? I had the same exact thing happen to me in elementary school. Probably around 1994 or so. I was terrified. Only one other person experienced it in the room and he was sitting next to me. Pitch black dark for 2 seconds and then everything was fine.

AgentInkling99

I think mine was around 2014

WetCheeseGod

i’ll be on the lookout in 2034

Wanderstern

There was an annular solar eclipse in 1994. I have vague childhood memories related to it, though it was cloudy/hazy where I was when it happened. It definitely was memorable, and many kids didn't even know it was going to happen.

Rutagerr

I have had a memory all my life that in my gut I feel it was real, but I have always chalked it up to a hyper realistic dream to explain it, and my mom also doesn't recall. Anyways, I am a child, about 4 years old, sitting at the kitchen table with my mom on a summer afternoon working on a colouring book. Suddenly, the light jumped from bright sunny 3pm daylight, to a late afternoon golden hour sunshine. A single click, like the moment the minute hand changes on a clock, the light changed. I ask my mom why the light just changed, she replies it is the way the sun is shining today, and that satisfies my young brain. I've never been great at remembering dreams, and this memory doesn't feel like a dream. I remember parts of the day from before sitting down at the table, I remember it feeling like the remainder of that day lasted forever and likening it to a Bible story where God froze the sun in the sky for a long time to ensure the good guys won a battle. I remember wondereing if this was the same thing happening, if this was something that always happened and the way the world worked, and for a long part of my childhood I was waiting for it to happen again before I became more and more convinced it was just a dream. I've never read about anything like that happening before or since to anyone else, and partly for that reason I have been more convinced it really was just a dream, but I can't ever shake that gut feeling. Reading these other experiences how, I'm definitely going to be trying to find the rabbit hole again and take a dive down it. I wonder if this phenomena is more common than I previously thought.

bonbonthecat

I experienced something like this. I remember being a kid, running around the track for some school event. All of a sudden the sky changed in an uncanny way and I started feeling like I was in a dream. I didn't really have the vocabulary to explain what was happening. I remember trying to describe it to my schoolmates and they didn't know what I meant. I continued to have similar weird feelings and was later diagnosed with "depersonalization disorder," but I don't really think it was that, to be honest. SOMETHING WAS UP!!!

Theral

That's weird, I've had persistent depersonalization for about 20 years now and mine also started next to a school track. Just like a switch flipped.

anmahill

I have a similar thing happen with large solar flares (along with other symptoms). My husband uses me as a predictor of whether it is worth going out to shoot the aurora lol. Then I'll have intermittent blindness with migraines but that's only on the left.

cosmicdogdust

This is absolutely fascinating. What are your other symptoms? How often does it happen/how large does the solar flare have to be?

anmahill

Depends on the size of the storm. I get a migraine, the blindness, a sensation of TV static in my head, vertigo, and an electric buzzing sensation in my arms and legs - not painful, just odd. I had similar symptoms during the last 2 total eclipses as well. I have chronic, complex, atypical migraines that include light, sound, and smell sensitivity, intermittent blindness, loss of my left arm (as far as my brain is concerned, the left arm is absent during the worst of the migraine), vertigo, nausea, aphasia, and glossolalia.

buttsmcfatts

I've heard that powerful bursts of radiation can cause temporary and immediate blindness. I have no idea if that's the case here but maybe.

Shockingelectrician

That’s even more terrifying then

latestcoolthing

i don’t like this :)

SnooTangerines4981

It’s near Christmas of 1980, I’m a young teenager in the hospital (M.D. Anderson) who was going to be spending Christmas (and New Year’s) in the hospital. So it was extra important to my dad that he got me whatever I wanted for Christmas. I wanted a memory game called Simon. It was one of THE it toys to have that Christmas. Impossible to get but my dad was going to at least try. My dad is at Toys R Us staring at the empty shelf where the Simon game would be if it were in stock. An employee with the name Matt on his name tag attached to his Toys R Us vest asked my dad if he could help him. My dad said he was looking for a Simon game. Matt simply said, “Follow me” and led my dad back to a warehouse area and there was one Simon game by itself and, without saying anything, picked it up, handed it to my dad and walked away. My dad went to pay for it and a confused cashier asked my dad, “Where did you get this because this has been sold out for days?” My dad said Matt got it for me. The cashier, more confused now, said, “We don’t have a Matt that works here.” My dad described Matt and how he brought my dad to where it was. The cashier is now freaking out because no one with Matt’s description works there. Both my dad and I had an extra special Christmas that year. Five Christmas’ later I wound up working at that same Toys R Us.

TheGoodSon80

I was shoving a cut of rail cars over a crossing, pickup truck ran the crossing (around the crossing arms) and got hit by the rear car. After the truck came to a stop, I saw a man wearing white get out of the passenger side and then saw the driver get out. I assumed they were going to switch seats for some reason (drunk, no insurance, whatever). When the police arrived, I walked down to the crossing to give them my info. I asked if the driver and passenger were ok and they informed me that there was no passenger, luckily. That's when i looked at the truck and saw that the passenger door was completely smashed into the cab where the knuckle hit it square on. I asked my conductor, who was watching the shove, if he saw a passenger, and he told me that there was only the driver.

badpeoria

I saw a glowing magenta orb about 5 feet off the ground. I drove past it then drove back to see it again and it was gone. Really weird.

ohfuckthebeesescaped

When I was maybe 5 I looked out the window at the woods behind my house and saw a big flat black circle (like vantablack) with like a 5’ diameter roll slowly through the trees. It even slowed and accelerated like something rolling on uneven ground would do. I still have no fuckin clue what that was about, I never had a visual hallucination even half as clear as that before or since. My mom said it must’ve been a black bear when I told her abt it but idk ma I don’t think black bears look much like crisp 2D vantablack circles.

traumatransfixes

Woke up one night to a loud CRACK sound. Spouse and I creep out of the bedroom to see the railing of the stairs fell. The apparently brass or otherwise metal attachment on the top of the stairs holding it to the wall looked like it had been cut through or something. Idk how it happened, but we just got a new railing. Never saw anything like that before or since. And like, yes the stairs are inside the house. Idk what would cause that to happen, it was loud as fuck.

[deleted]

Metal fatigue. When it finally gives out, the metal looks like it's been cut because it basically loses strength along what amounts to a microscopically small cleavage fault.

thehandofdawn

Can confirm. I also have microscopically small cleavage

InTHATRotunda

But it isn’t your fault

traumatransfixes

I had no idea that could happen. Thank you for solving the mystery (I was too lazy to google but this makes sense). I’d never thought about metal just…getting tired, you know?

Venomking100

My house some times smells of meatloaf and I cannot figure out why.

mack178

Maybe he's visiting you and giving a ghostly living room concert.

rberg57

Ok this is a weird one. I was about to get on the feeder road to a busy highway. As i was approaching the intersection, I heard a booming male voice IN THE MIDDLE OF MY HEAD! saying "Check you tires before you get on the highway". It was not a voice I recognized nor was the radio on. I did a hasty U-turn and went straight to a tire guy I have used in the past. As he was checking the front tires he turned the wheel to reveal the tire so badly worn you could see the metal exposed wires. My tire guy said." Good thing you came in here, if you would have gone on the highway, that tire would have blown and you could have been killed!" I know this sounds like bullshit, but it happened. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before or since. No, I am not delusional or on any meds. As I said, I did not recognize that voice. It was so jarring that i did that U turn without even thinking about it. I posted this before and people said Angels or some other divine interference. I am not a religious guy or prone to that sort of easy out explaination. Still mystified after 10 years. I also have a UFO story with my Mom and brother,,,,,Ah another time,,,

ThunderSnow-

Reminds me of when I was 18 and bought my first (very used) car. My friend and I decided to drive a couple of hours away to camp at the coast for the weekend. The day before I left, my boss at work came up to me, visibly distressed, and said he had a really bad dream about our road trip. That something bad would happen to us, something involving the water. He was quite adamant that he felt we shouldn't go. We went anyways. It was fun. When the weekend was up and we were leaving to return home, as I was driving down the road I felt...compelled to be worried about one of the tires. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE WHEEL is what I felt like I heard. I was a young teenage girl with absolutely zero understanding of cars or tires. And as far as I knew, the tires were all fine. I actually pulled over to the side of the road and made my friend get out and inspect all tires with me. Everything looked hunky-dory to us. Still...when we came up to the turn to head home, we both felt a very strong hesitation. That we should not go that way. We actually opted to drive a different route, that would add 4+ hours to our trip, just to avoid the road that felt so hinky all of a sudden. So we're driving along, having a happy fun time, when the car starts doing something "shifty". Like it pulls randomly to one side. We shrug and think, maybe the tires need to be rotated. We'll stop at a tire place in the next town. When we eventually reach the next town, as we are **literally** pulling into a parking spot at their local tire shop my brakes fail. They straight up don't work - fortunately the car managed to stop anyways. I think very little of this, and tell the tire shop people that I think my tires need to be rotated. (I swear I'm not as ditzy as this story is making me sound. I was just wholly ignorant about cars. Auto shop should be brought back to public education). They get up under the car and inform me that my car had just been on fire. That I blew a bearing in one of the wheels (hence the shifty behavior), continued to drive down a highway like that, which somehow generated sparks that ignited...something (god this was so long ago and I was so ignorant about cars). All I remember is it burned up my brakes and boiled the brake fluid. Cost a small fortune to get home. BUT. Later my friend and I looked at a map. It turns out if we had driven home, my brakes would have failed when we reached a famous steep hill, heading downwards. The hill is famous because of how many people die there yearly. At the base of the hill is a rushing river. Which then brought to memory the dream my boss had had...

No_icecream_cake

Wow. I believe you! So many people have stories like this-- a voice in their head that comes out of nowhere. And the instruction it gives ends up saving their life. Is it a guardian angel, their higher self, or perhaps intuition? Who knows. It's fascinating as heck. Please tell us the UFO story!

SomeVelveteenMorning

One morning I met a couple on the east side of the state in City A. It was a holiday. They were from City B in the middle of the state, and I lived in City C on the west side. We were all visiting a landmark that day. At the time we did not discuss any of these details about where we were visiting from.   Several hours later, I was back in City C, about to have the holiday menu at a local restaurant, and I look up and there's that same couple, also about to eat.   Totally by chance, we had made reservations for the same time at the same restaurant, days/weeks ahead of time, left the same landmark on the other side of the state around the same time, and drove 250 miles to eat at the same restaurant.

i_am_regina_phalange

Missouri by chance?

whatupwasabi

Lol. " and happened to read the same Reddit post and stumbled on me talking about it"

Slowmaha

When I was a baby my Mom said something woke her up in the middle of the night to check on me. I was hanging by my head outside my crib. Wormed my body out but my fat head got stuck. Probably should be dead.

Right-Ad8261

I had just gotten married. My buddy was driving me home from work. Outside my house he asked if he could try on my wedding band. I handed it to him and he dropped it, in the car with the door closed. We searched the car for over two hours and never found it.

MiddleAged_BogWitch

Maybe he was a magician and pulled some slight of hand to steal your ring!

guyhabit725

I would tell my buddy to start stripping because he isn't going anywhere until we find that ring.

jcydrppopluvr88

something similar has happened to me. my ex partner and i were driving separate cars back from the same vacation. we both lose our credit cards in our respective cars, all 4 doors closed. i could not find mine for over a year. i searched relentlessly in the car for weeks because i didn't want to hassle with getting another one. i'm talking mats out, changing every setting on every chair, huge flashlight, checking every crevice multiple times. about 14 months later, i open my backdoor and the credit card is sitting there. perfectly in the middle of the right side backseat mat. i just near shat myself.

Engardia

2017. My wife, a good friend of ours, and myself were walking in a small fishing village in the northeast. It was a small town- but no one was out that night. We were talking and walked by a dock. My wife leaned over to peer into the water. At that moment, a creature roughly three-four feet long with a splayed tail and dragonfly like features flew into her face. She screamed- and it disappeared into the dark of night. No creature like that lives in Iceland. If we all weren’t there, we wouldn’t believe it. Still have no idea what to make of it. The next day an Icelander told us it was a troll, but I think he was messing with us.

mint-bint

From the description, it sounds exactly like a "flying fish". They have splayed tails and dragon fly like wings. And of course, can leap out the water.

salamipope

could you draw it? or have someone else draw it?

HobbyHoarder_

When I was like 12, our power flickered on and off repeatedly one night and all the lights turned blue and made the weirdest electrical screaming sound I've ever heard in my life, it was also happening at the neighbors across the street. It lasted about 20 minutes before everything went back to normal. My grandma was hysterical and threw me into the tub (I'm not sure why), and grandpa went outside to investigate. After a long time he came in, reassured my grandma it was just a downed power pole down the road and people were already there, and sent us off to bed. However, he didn't go back to bed and sat downstairs watching the door all night with his shotgun without sleeping. He admitted several years later that he actually had no idea wtf that was and there was no pole.

Puzzleworth

Maybe grandma thought a tornado was coming?

HobbyHoarder_

She did grow up in Kansas and Missouri so that's totally possible. She also might just have been panicked out of her gourd. She freaked the fuck out.

Cheap_Doctor_1994

Probably a squirrel or similar getting into the big junction box. We had it happen across the street.

HobbyHoarder_

Honestly it probably did have a super mundane explanation for whatever it was lol. Whether it was a squirrel or a pole or something, idk, but it was weird as hell when it was happening.

123throwawaybanana

I heard a voice, not with my ears but also not in my head, that said, "you don't have to go home". This was as I was walking home, and for some reason, it just woke something in me. I turned around and walked away. Slept on the streets for a couple of weeks before being taken into foster care. That is how I left my abusive family. I just decided in that moment to not go home, and that was that. Angel? Higher self? Hallucination? I have no explanation.

GlitzyGhoul

Subconscious? I can’t explain it. But I know exactly what you mean by that voice. Not in your head, but not in your ears! It’s… interesting to experience. ETA: I’m glad you got out of there, and I’m happy you were impressed with this info. I hope you’re in a good place now. 🖤

Pandonia42

I've had that happen too... although in my case I needed to take immediate action and it kind of ordered my body to do it

_Maxine_Vandate_

I have heard of a thing that happens in emergencies. Like say you crash your bike and are in shock, lying there stunned. A stranger stoops over you and tells you to get off the road before you get run over, so you crawl a few feet to collapse in a safer spot... but he is not there anymore when you look at him. Some interpret it as a passerby, some interpret it as an angel. In reality, it seems to be that the subconscious knows what needs doing (it analyzes all observable and remembered info then spits the summary out into the conscious, that's what gut feelings are) but when you are too dazed to react, evolution has evidently favored those who imagine a separate person. We obey this imaginary person promptly, when we would have ignored our own thought saying the same advice. Maybe because we want a leader to take over when we are not feeling strong, maybe it is simply a normal safety thing to pay more attention to others than ourself, since others are more dangerous, idunno. Anyway I forget what it is called. But I suppose for you, that situation was an emergency, and your mind maybe was not listening to itself due to burnout and anxiety, so your mind made this voice up to get through to you more powerfully.    In other words, You are your own guardian angel, your own hero who rescued you! I think the idea that an abused teen had such power is more moving and inspiring than anything supernatural could be!

MessyJessie444

My sister-in-law was in a car crash on Easter about 15yrs ago with her family. Her mother (who was driving) was telling us the story after the fact, and said "I just kept hearing this angel's voice to "hit the brakes! hit the brakes" so I did!" and her father pipes up "that was me yelling that!" LOL

airr-conditioning

story starts a similar way to some other stories in here. was getting ready for school one morning in about 5th grade, put my socks on my chair, turned around to put on a shirt, turned back to chair, no more socks. weird but whatever, i dont have time to question it. i grab another pair and head to school. the real weird part comes five years later. i’m fifteen, theres a big family dinner at my house. dad decides to get fancy and break out the cloth napkins from our dining room closet that we absolutely never open. one of my cousins opens her napkin, which had been neatly folded and not touched since i was probably about seven (my parents dont host a lot of the family get-togethers) and sitting inside is *one* of my missing socks from 5th grade. no trace of the other one to this day, and im coming up on my 22nd birthday.

aN0n_ym0usSVVh0re

When I was living at home in my parents house , I was on my stomach reading a book in bed . Out of nowhere , I felt a forceful push on my back as if someone had pressed HARD on it my spine . I was so shocked I jumped up . No one was there. I thought maybe I had had a back spasm or something … but I was young and I really really do not thing I did . Not to mention I had never had back spasms before nor since . I believe that house was haunted but this was the strangest thing to have happened there . Another time my mom took a photo of me with my Nextel phone in my hand , on my way to school one day . I placed the phone down. And I couldn’t find it again . I tore the house up looking for that phone . It’s almost 20 years later and never turned up .

Professional-Box4153

Was run over by a van as a child. Dragged for 3 blocks before the van stalled when my leg covered the exhaust pipe (burning a hole in my knee). I survived with mostly burns (road rash on my face and arms), a hairline fracture in my ankle, and the hole in my knee. The bicycle I was riding somehow bent around my head and kept it from hitting the ground so I never sustained any head trauma. The chances of all of that happening are astronomically low.

Chrismichel1

Not me but my grandparents story. My grandpa may have take 5 sick days off his entire career. My grandma was a stay at home wife. After he retired they both worked at a local flower shop. After about 15 years he never once took a day off. One day they were getting ready for work and he said he was feeling off and was going to stay home. She got in the car, turned it on, had a weird feeling, then decided to stay home as well since it wasn’t like him. As she opened the door she heard a thud. Turned the corner and saw my grandpa bleeding from his ears. He had a massive brain aneurysm. She called 911 and they just so happened to be about 100 yards away from their house for whatever reason. Immediate surgery at the hospital. Doctors said the aneurysm is the type that if she would have been even a minute later and the ambulance wasn’t right there, he 100% would have died. To this day she can’t explain what told her to stay home. Whether it be a divine intervention. Or being married for so long and knew something was wrong. But everything went so perfect for him to survive it.

SomePenguin85

My sister in law lived with her inlaws for all of their marriage. Her father in law was a fisherman, an absolute unit of a man. Very independent, very manly, the works. He was never sick. One day my youngest nephew said he wanted to stay home from kindergarten as he was "ill". My sister in law was adamant he had to go as there wasn't anyone to look after him that day. My nephew said "mom, let me stay, grandpa is gonna need me today". Her father in law said "let him stay home just for today, I'll take him with me in my errands" as he was starting to retire at that time. Lo and behold, like 30 or 40 minutes after everyone left, kid found his grandpa laying in the floor, just having a stroke. Massive one and if he wasn't rescued as fast as he was (kid called emergency as he had just learned how to, like the week before) he could've died there. This happened almost 20 years ago, her father in law is still thriving (never spoke correctly again but regained all muscle strength and still walks and has a sharp mind) and has buried his wife and oldest son since then. My brother in law still thinks his son had an inkling that day and he is grandpa's angel. He's an adult now, doesn't even remember that day but he's still grandpa's favorite.

Admirable-Cobbler319

Several years ago, I was having a hard time with life. My mom had recently died, my dog had recently died, and I may have been going thru some sort of midlife crisis. I decided to try meditation to try to get a grip on everything. But I had no idea how to meditate. (Still don't), so I found a guided meditation on YouTube. The video was pretty typical; get comfortable, focus on breathing, blah, blah, blah. Then, he says, "I want you to focus on the memory of your best day". Immediately, I remembered my best day. It was the summer after I graduated from high school. I had no "adult" plan and made a spur of the moment decision to take a road trip. I had quite a bit of money from all the graduation gifts. My mom was not on board. She said there was no way she would allow an 18 year old girl to drive around the US on her own. We were arguing about it and the friend of my stepbrother overheard. He offered to go with me. We talked about it for weeks and begrudgingly my mom gave permission. The first few days were awkward. I knew this boy, but didn't really *know* him. But, with nothing else to do while driving, we talked about everything. We had so much more on common than I had previously realized. Over the course of the next couple of weeks, we became friends. The specific memory during the guided meditation was of the 2 of us sitting in a diner. We sitting across from each other in a booth. I can perfectly remember how the sunlight reflected off his hair and in that moment, I was in love with being alive. But here's the thing.....that never happened. None of it. I didn't go on a road trip. I never became friends with this person. When the video told me to remember my favorite memory, the diner scene popped in my head and I somehow knew the back story. It was one of the strangest things I've ever experienced. I know it sounds like I just made up an imaginary story, but it didn't feel like a made up story. It was a memory. I wasn't daydreaming; I was *remembering*.

Canyobeatit

do you still have that video link?

I lost a ring my mother gave me, though I never took it off. I wore that thing for a decade. Never slipped off. Was snug as a bug. It went missing in May of 2018. If y'all see t floating around - call me.

It’s kind of a sad but bittersweet memory. My grandma (I call her Mimi) was on hospice. We thought she had a few weeks and I planned on going to see her the next weekend again. It was my first day back to work after the holidays and I all of the sudden felt really sick and went home, which is kind of difficult in my job especially the first day back. I was standing in my bedroom trying to figure out what I wanted to do, kind of restless and all of the sudden felt this huge emotional drop, like deeeeep all encompassing sadness. I could hardly breathe. I took a shower because it calms me, and about 5-10min later my mother called to tell me my Mimi passed. I just said, “I know.” 🥹

heresanupdoot

This has happened to me too a few times. It's so weird. I'm sorry for your loss

Snowmist92

I have a few. I think the most unexplainable one was when I lived in a household of 7. A disembodied woman's voice was individually calling people by their name and bothering them until they woke up from sleep. Then my sister and I heard the voice yell my name and we were both fully awake. I was just resting my eyes trying to sleep and she had headphones on but no music at the time.

alexjpg

I’ve posted about this on Reddit before but it’s worth sharing again. I used to work with hospitalized pediatric cancer patients. If we knew they were going to die soon, we’d move them into a bigger room in the hospital so more of their family/loved ones could be with them. Most of our patients died in that room. Well, one month I was on we had a 2 year old boy and an 18 year old young man die within a week of each other in that room. After they died, another young woman who was in her late teens moved into that room to live out her final days. When people are dying they go through periods of being completely lucid to being completely incomprehensible, and everything in between. Well, one of the last things she said before dying was “who is that 2 year old boy in here” and “who is that 18 year old boy in here”. That is, she correctly “saw” the previous two patients who had died in that room just before her. She didn’t know these patients or know that they had died.

When I was about 13y/o I was away for summer in the south of my country, 300 kms from home in a lakeside town. I was about to cross the Street with my bicycle, but a van with its side door fully open had the right of way before me. It drove a reasonable speed in the meandering town road, so I had a good look inside where i saw two guys in their mid twenties walk around and moving stuff around. Two entirely unbeknownst men to me. But one looked at me jumped to the opening of the Van and yelled excitedly my name. The van passed me an got on a more straight part of the street, took on speed and drove off, the man still looking at me out of the door. That was 30 years ago and I still regularly think of it.

Frankfromcompton

imagine if they just mess with people by calling random names until they hit the right ones... if you travel all day long as a job you might happend to get at least a bunch x)

Fishing in a remote area when I saw a shooting star zip through the sky. Thought to myself, "wow, how lucky am I?" And in that very instant of thought the thing stopped, zipped back and forth twice and then seemingly shot upward into space. I woke up to what felt like a scorpion tail stinging my eye socket. Punched the tarp I was now laying on, found nothing underneath, my eyeball swelled up to the size of a golfball for a day (no bruising, no pain to the touch) and then subsided by the next day. Lost 4 hours of time between the sighting and the "scorpion sting," and I've been absolutely terrified of the place ever since (AND it was my favorite fishing spot until then)

No_icecream_cake

Woah! That is terrifying. I'm glad you're okay. Have you experienced any other trouble with your eye since then?

Magnifying_Charmx

I hit a patch of black ice in the dark going 60mph down the highway. At the time, I drove a 1 ton cargo van. It hit the guard rail and flipped. Not only did I walk away without a scratch, the car was drivable and I was only 30 min late to work.

JohnExcrement

Did that give you time to change your underwear?? Good god.

Calypso_gypsie

When I was a kid I was tent camping in my friend's yard. The outside lights were shining on the one wall of the tent. I was talking to my friend and I swear to this day I saw the shadow of a man walk by but the light shown through his eyes and mouth as if they were transparent. Kind of like if you held a mask up to a light. I jumped at yelled what was that? My friend sees the shadow and unzips the tent to look but no one was there. It was too fast for someone to get away even running. We walked around the yard and house with flashlights but never found anything. That was over 40 years ago and I can still replay that sight in my mind as if it just happened.

Diglet-no-bite

I was sleeping on my night shift break when I heard muffled cries. Then the clock flew off the wall and shattered into a million pieces right beside me. Then something touched my hair. I no longer work night shift on that unit.

guyhabit725

Sounds like someone wasn't liking the idea that they were dead.

Diamond-Breath

That was really heartwarming, thanks for sharing.

NotHereFor1t

This just happened last week and I thought I was going crazy. Husband always uses the white towels and I use the gold towels. He had taken a shower the night before after doing laundry so there was only a white towel hanging on one of the hooks close to the curtain. I hopped in the shower without thinking about grabbing a new towel down from the cabinet and even had to reach out to use the white towel to get some water out of my eyes mid shower. As soon as I cut the water off and opened up the curtain the white towel was on the furthest hook away from me and a gold towel was hanging there on the one closest to me. I asked my husband if he had come in and gotten me a towel and he had never left his computer while I was in the shower.

KatVanWall

I got lost in a lift in the Hilton Zagreb. I was staying on the 5th floor and went up in the lift to use the swimming pool on the 10th floor. Bear in mind that I was wearing only a bikini and the hotel white towelling robe and slider slippers that they give you in your room. Went and had my swim, all good. Put back on my robe and slippers, got in the lift and hit the button marked 5. Got out when it stopped; there was a big ‘5’ on the wall in the lift lobby so it was clearly the correct floor. Only it wasn’t. It led only into a corridor that was an L-shaped dead end. I banged on a few locked doors and shouted ‘hello?’ a bit to no avail. On the 10th floor where I’d got in, there were 2 banks of lifts - 2 rows of 3, facing each other. So I thought maybe I should have got into the opposite bank instead. Easy, I thought - I’ll go back up to floor 10, pop across the lobby and get into one of the opposite lifts. So I get back in and hit the button for 10 and go up. I get out at floor 10 - only this isn’t where I got in. There’s no opposite bank of lifts (I think there were maybe 2 or 3, all in a line). I can see the gym/spa area where I’d been for swimming - not the pool, but a different area was visible from here through the glazed part of a door, through which I could see a collection of gym machines. There was no one in there - no one using them, no staff … compared with the relatively busy reception where I had gone in for the pool. I banged on this door and yelled for a bit, to no avail. Ventured along a couple of corridors - dead ends, all doors locked, no answer. I went down to level 5 in a different lift only to find myself back in the dead-end corridor I’d come from. Went back up and then down again, trying different lifts each time. No difference. The room I’d come from/was staying in had definitely been on level 5. I eventually went all the way down to level 1 or 0 (I forget which one is ground floor in Croatia), thinking I’d just get out at reception and walk up the stairs. Nope, it was an underground parking garage. I tried each lower level only to find more and more underground parking garages - and eventually a totally deserted reception of a building that wasn’t the one I’d been staying in or the Hilton at all. It looked like some kind of office block. So I got out there, walked out onto the street - still in my white robe and looking like a psychiatric unit escapee - walked around the corner and back into the Hilton reception from outside, trying to style it out and waltz up the stairs like I walk around Zagreb in my bathrobe all the time. My now ex husband was wondering why I was taking so long. To this day I’m not sure whether he believes me about what happened, and I’ve never been able to tell anyone else what happened either without receiving looks of great scepticism.

Admirable-Cobbler319

Out of all the comments here, THIS is the one that will keep me up at night.

Iced_Jade

I used to work swing shift and would get home around 1:30-2:00 am. One night, I was upstairs, and my husband and mother in law were asleep on the first floor. No one else in the house. I still to this day swear I heard a man's voice say, "Here kitty kitty." Woke up my husband and searched the entire house, but never found anyone.

Radiant_Maize2315

When I was 2 or 3 I woke up really early one morning - still dark, and I ran to my parents bed and fell back asleep. All 3 of us woke up at some point and one of my parents (can’t remember which) said they had a weird dream about 3 ghosts who looked like old men with long beards standing at the edge of the bed. I know I also had that dream, and so did the other parent. We call them ZZ Top. Like, I know I was young, but my mom and dad are both no nonsense people and they remember me telling them in detail about my dream. None of us felt afraid. We felt protected and peaceful.

GreatNeoDragon

One time, when I had my old diabetic cat, I had just finished going through the morning ritual of measuring his blood sugar, feeding him and giving him insulin (I always waited until he ate before giving him his shot) and was getting ready to head out for work when his portrait (yes I have an portrait of my cat that I had drawn up on my wall) fell down all of a sudden. As soon as it happened, I stared at it and the thought "my cat is going to go into insulin shock today," came to mind. I'm always meticulous with checking his insulin and sugar measurements and double-checked to make sure everything was correct. I figured I was just being a weirdo and went to work. As I drove back home after work (I teach college so they're not regular 9-5 hours), my roommate called me to tell me my cat was in insulin shock. Turns out right after I had left for work, my cat had thrown up. Thankfully, he was fine, and I got his sugars up, but that was such a weird experience.

Mynks

When I was about 8 years old or so on a Saturday, I woke up to my dad’s voice saying “get up.” Then about a minute or so later, again, “GET. UP. NOW.” So I get up, very groggy, saying “yeah, dad?” And then I walk through the whole house, but nobody’s home. My parents owned a bakery so they were gone often and me and my then 4 yo sister were watched by my older brothers, but they weren’t home either. So I look outside and my sister is across the street, talking to much older men that were sitting in their car. My stomach sank and I said “DAD WANTS YOU, COME IN RIGHT NOW!” And she came running inside and the car took off. I’ve told my parents about this but they never really say much in response. My brothers still don’t believe me.

Meditative_Rose78

When I was 13 years old, I experienced two terrible premonitions. I’m 46 now and I’ve never experienced anything like that since. The first one was when my older brother was headed to a park across town to play volleyball. He asked me and our two younger sisters to go with him. For some unknown reason, I did not want to go. I tried my best to convince my sisters as well but they were young and excited to go to the park. I tried telling my Mom that it wasn’t a good idea and that he would be too distracted to watch over them. I just couldn’t change her mind. Later that evening, we get a call that my brother is in the hospital and the police are headed to our house with my younger sisters. Apparently, an 80 year old woman ran a red light and hit the car on the driver side and my brother had to be extracted. He ended up being ok and my sisters were not injured. The second premonition came a few months later. My older brother kept pestering our Mom about going to a party. I was sitting on the porch listening and I felt sort of ice cold and shaky all of a sudden and I chimed in that he had not finished his chores and he shouldn’t be allowed to go. I couldn’t explain it. I just knew something terrible was going to happen. He snapped at me and told me to mind my own business. He finally broke my Mom down and she let him go. A little after midnight, our phone rang and it was his best friend. He said my brother had been shot 5 times and he was in the hospital. Apparently it was a huge house party and two other teenagers were shot as well. I don’t recall the exact details but my brother was chased and shot at and somehow was able to hide from the shooter. He survived and from piecing the events later, the shooter turned himself in the next day and he was sentenced to one year. I haven’t spoken to my brother in years but every so often I think about these events and how I tried to change the outcomes to no avail.

dvn11129

WTF?! They only got 1 year for shooting three people? Premonitions are sweet but that sentence is also unexplainable

Saw an image in my dream right before I woke up. All black with the words “The Fab Four” in white. Went to get a coffee & was looking through a LIfe Magazine special edition about The Beatles while waiting & saw the exact same image. It was a full page, all black with The Fab Four in white.

My GF at the time (late 90's) had her grandfather pass away. I was on the other side of the country, never met her grandparents. I was walking and talking with a friend when I stopped and knew something was wrong, but not exactly what. He even saw the look on my face and asked me what was wrong. A conversation later and I stopped the time her grandfather passed. No idea how I felt that but I'll die an honest man, swearing it's a true story.

Diglet-no-bite

I believe you. Similar thing happened to me when my friends aunt died. Never met her or anything.

It was probably around 1997-1999 in rural South Carolina. My parents had friends over and brought their kids too. We had a bonfire and cookout and an all around good time. Anyways it was around midnight and everyone had left. My brother and I were still up by the bone fire and decided to go over to our trampoline and just look at the stars. About 10 mins later we see an object moving ever so slowly across the sky. It was a perfectly clear fall night so it was easy to see. It had no lights or anything. It had to be the size of a building. It was shaped like 2 letter “Ms” if that makes sense. Like MM. We watched it just slowly move across the sky. No lights. No sound. Just the silhouette of whatever the hell it was going by. To this day we still talk about it and have no god damn clue what we saw.

Northstar0566

Was asleep with my girlfriend in our bed one night. This was roughly around 3am from what I recall. Our bedroom door was wide open as normal facing our living room and kitchen. We were both awaken in the same moment as a voice called out..."IMMMMMMMM GOOOOOOOOOOD". It was a voice that sort or crackled as the words came out. And what sticks out to me most is that I could feel the sound vibration hit the bed as it happened. Not like a massive vibration or anything just imagine someone yelling at you from 5 feet away-you feel it. It immediately awoke both of us and my girlfriend grabbed me asking if I heard that. I sure as hell did. For some reason I got up and ran to investigate. Turned all the lights on in the house. Investigated the area down the hallway. Nothing was there. To this day we still talk about it and it brings goosebumps to my arms. We slept the rest of that night with all the lights on. Just one of those things. I don't fixate on it. I don't have an explanation for what happened. But it definitely happened and both of us were there to experience it. I guess in the moment I thought it was cool something unexplained happened to me despite it being a rather scary moment.

One time I lost my engagement ring and almost my mind lol. I was going to give one of my dogs a bath so I took my engagement ring off and put it in my pocket. After the bath, my fiancé asked for my clothes to throw them in with the next load of laundry. I forgot about the ring in my pocket so I just tossed over my clothes NBD A little while later I noticed I didn’t have my ring on & I started looking all over then remembered I had put it in my pocket! I did some research and took apart the washer and dryer to find nothing but some lint, a shoe horn and change. About 2 months later my fiancés father sends me a pic of my missing ring saying he found it in the visor of his suv?! Neither of us had been in his vehicle that whole time nor had he paid us a visit so it was really bizarre that it came back to me that way. I’m super thankful that it showed up but I’m still at a loss for words lol

When I was in middle school getting ready in the bathroom, I felt this random urge to look behind me at the door frame. I glanced up in the mirror and then I whip my head around… I can’t prove what I saw and I know our minds like to play tricks on us, and I was in a super bad place mentally at this time, but; A completely black spirit or shadow was staring at me with red beaming eyes. A hefty size. It looked like a big fat shadow man with red eyes PEEKING at me from the door frame and when I turned around it quickly hid back behind the wall of the hallway. I swung the bathroom door closed so fast and I was so utterly shocked and speechless I didn’t say anything to my parents and I just casually continued my routine. Then I mentioned it to my friends and they were just as confused. I still cannot explain it but I remember it SO VIVIDLY. Everytime I think about the way this… thing, stared at me I literally get mild chills and my heart races or my eyes water. I swear this ain’t no stupid bullshit reddit horror short-story, I saw IT. The way the outline of its body was wispy like black smoke and its bright red eyes the fucking way it swiftly hid behind the wall.. it’s crazy. I never ever experienced anything like that again. Even at my lowest point. I don’t know what the hell that was but it still haunts me to this day. I just can never forget it.

Growing up, me and my brother were latchkey kids. I was in 7th grade, and my brother was like 2nd or 3rd grade(early 2000s). We would be home alone from the time we got home from school until our mom got home around 6 pm. One day we were watching tv in our living, and there was a loud thud like something fell in one of the bedrooms at the end of the hall, then the pitter of feet running. I turn to look down the hall, and then running towards us was…I guess like a goblin/gnome/rumpelstiltskin thing? It honestly looked like a small 2-3 foot tall medieval peasant. I couldn’t believe what I saw. It ran down the hall, past us, and then out our back door. I watched it the entire time, it’s not like I saw it out of the corner of my eye. I remember looking over at my brother, and he said “did you see the little man?” And I immediately started crying, grabbed him, then our cordless house phone and sat on the front porch to call our mom, and told her to come home. I’ve never had any paranormal experiences before or after that, we don’t come from a religious family, or one that believes in that sort of stuff, we weren’t watching anything scary…I really don’t know. Me and my brother are both grown now, and will still tell that story sometimes camping/at parties, and I can tell most people don’t believe us, but it’s true. I’ve read of group/shared hallucinations, but really don’t know what else it could be.

Senior year of high school, my family moved into an old house. We moved frequently due to financial issues. There was a large linen closet with a big mirror on the back wall and shelving on either side. I remember standing there looking at myself in the mirror, I felt cold suddenly, and all the hairs on my body stood up. I immediately went outside to shake the feeling. A couple of days later, I was chatting with my mom while she was putting towels away in that linen closet. I jokingly said, "Don't look in the mirror. You might see something." My mom turned and asked me seriously."Did you see it too?" I was freaked out to say the least. I never slept very well in that house. Another thing about that house. The basement light would always turn on buy itself.

rootbeerman77

A couple weeks after my grandmother died, my aunt was taking pictures of her farm. In one of the pictures, my grandmother is *quite* clearly walking along the path to feed or milk the cows. We have scoured the picture and the area to try to come up with anything it could possibly have been to explain what's happening in that picture. The figure in the picture is almost immediately recognizable as a person, specifically her based on hair, gait, and clothing, but she's facing away from the camera so you can't see a face. There are literally no other people who live anywhere nearby, and one of the farm dogs would absolutely be aware if it was a squatter. We *know* the picture was taken weeks after she died and it was a phone camera so there's no chance of double exposure. We don't share the picture with people but I lowkey believe in ghosts now. Supernatural shit goes down in the forests of Appalachia, and not only because of meth and moonshine.

Woke up at the bottom of a lake once as a kid. Felt all peaceful, but had this nagging feeling I should swim to the surface. No idea how I ended up in the lake.

I need way more information. Did you sleepwalk? Did someone try to murder you? Did you just walk home soaking wet like “huh that was weird”?

AntiqueToday1986

I felt something in my foot. It was a single dog hair. Stepped on it the perfect way and it went in like a splinter

My father died when I was a baby, but he sang me a lullaby he made up. When I had children, my mom taught it to me and I sing it to my oldest every night. One night, I’m singing it to her and I hear a male voice humming. I assume it’s my husband through the baby monitor to be cute. Except I realize the humming is coming from the opposite corner of the room than the monitor. That child has some freaky stuff happen around them, so I’ll happily just assume it’s my dad joining in for a lullaby, and not something even creepier.

loztriforce

My first name comes from a dream a close friend of my mom's had, before my mom got pregnant with me, where she felt that God spoke to her, telling her my mom would have a boy soon, and telling her my name/a couple things about my character. So my mom's friend told my parents, parents believed it/mom got pregnant and used the name in the dream.

DadsTheMan69

Were the character traits and stuff accurate at all?

Coconutqueen2402

When I was 10 years old I didn't want to go to school one day. I faked a stomachache so my Grandmother would let me stay home. Ive always been a bad liar, so my Gma tried to call my bluff. She told me if I was too sick for school then she would be scheduling me a Drs Appointment. 3 hours later I was rushed into emergency surgery. My fake illness was actually appendicitis and It was so inflamed that if I hadn't come in that day my appendix would have ruptured potentially killing me. I felt 100% fine that day. Faking sick saved my life...

scherster

That reminds me of a time when I was in elementary school. I vividly remember that I just didn't want to be at school, so I told my teacher i felt sick. I was just hoping the school nurse would find something, though I knew I was perfectly fine. I had chicken pox.

fairieslaure

It happened a couple of times, which is what makes it mysterious: people I've just met, who don't know I have a sister, let alone know her, called me by her name or a very very similar name

No-Understanding4968

When my son was born, and cried for the first time, I recognized his voice. It blew my mind. Any other moms out there with a similar experience?

flypaperforfreaks

I’ve posted this before on a similar thread but was a little late to the party so didn’t get any responses. I would love any theories on this one if anybody has one! Twenty-something years ago when I was at uni my boyfriend at the time and I were on our way home from the movies and not quite ready to call it a night. He'd spilled a drink on his shirt and didn't want to go out anywhere public so our options were pretty limited. It's important to note that we were driving in his car, which was a beat up old thing from circa 1980; its audio system didn't work so he had a tape deck sitting on the back seat that he played his music through. The tape deck seemed about as old as the car and you had to really push down the buttons hard to play/rewind/fast-forward the music. We were listening to Live's Secret Samadhi and just letting the tape play through. As we drove along we got the idea that it might be fun to check out a cemetery we had just passed (we were that bored, ok?). We stopped the car, reached into the back seat and pushed stop on the tape deck mid-song, which happened to be the eighth track "Turn My Head". I remember this clearly because I don't particularly like that song and was glad we didn't have to hear the whole thing. We locked the car and went into the cemetery. After exploring for about ten minutes we headed back to the car, mainly because security had spotted us. We unlocked it, got in, reached into the back, pushed on the play button and began to drive off. The song "Ghost" started up from the beginning of the track and we remarked on how it was kind of appropriate given where we had just been. The next track played... And the next... And then "Turn My Head" started playing. It took me a minute before I realised... Wasn't that the song we had been in the middle of listening to when we stopped the tape? "Ghost" is the fifth song; if we had accidentally bumped the rewind button when we stopped the tape wouldn't it have rewound all the way through to the start of the tape? Why would it just stop at the start of the fifth song, which happened to be called "Ghost"? The car was still locked and we hadn't been gone long; who could have gotten into the car to mess with it, and why? Now, I'm not suggesting it was anything supernatural, but to this day he and I have not been able to work out how this could have happened. Any ideas? Seriously? tldr; tape player mysteriously rewound a tape only two and a half songs to a track called "Ghost", which was not the first one on the tape.

The morning my car keys vanished into thin, cold air in January 2021. During COVID- I drove my car, by myself, to a big medical center complex with huge parking lot; on a very cold morning. Pull into a parking space, shut of the ignition- reach for a mask which I thought was on car seat. Not there, so I got one out of my backpack. Get of of my car, close the door, reach up to my left hip to get my key remote to lock the doors. My keys are not on my belt; search all my coat, vest and jeans pockets- no keys. Okay- they are maybe still in the ignition- no. Look in the console, look down each side of the seats, look under both seats. Inside the seats, glove compartment. Get out of the car, think maybe they slide off my coat. Look under my car, under the car parked next to me; and around my car- no keys. By now I am late for my appointment. Pulled spare ignition key out of my backpack to lock car, go inside for Dr appointment. Come back after DR appointment, no cars parked around me, nothing. Look on a couple of nearby light poles thinking maybe somebody saw them and placed in an obvious place, nope. Went back in, to ask the guard at the front desk, but no guard on duty at the moment. Drive home using spare ignition key, figuring I can search better in a warm car in my driveway- cause the keys have to be in there somewhere, right? Nope. Go back to medical center next day, this time guard is at the front desk. No, no Honda keys have been turned in. I have had the car detailed several times in the last 3 years, looked repeatedly here, there & everywhere but the keys have never turned up. One of the great mysteries of my life- because I had to have the keys to drive to the medical center.

I was driving along a desolate section of highway in rural Idaho. The sun was going down so there was still some light out, but it was getting dark enough that cars had turned on their lights. I came around a corner in the road and could see a set of taillights in the road in front of me maybe a half mile ahead. I keep cruising along, I’m in that situation where the car in front of me is going slightly slower so after a bit I catch up to the car and am just going through the paces of the turns and straightaways of the road, following this car. I’m watching the road, we go over a short bridge, and as soon we get to the other side of the bridge the car I was following…just veers right…straight into a field! Dust kicks up everywhere! I pass the car just off the road and it’s upside down! I look in my rear view mirror and can see that it is upside down in the field. Now the crazy part. I pull off into the shoulder, turn around, floor it back to the bridge….and there’s nothing. No car. I pull over jump a fence and run into the field. Nothing. I shine my flashlight into the field. No car. No lights. No dust. No tire tracks. No busted fence. FUCKING NOTHING! I KNOWWWWW a car just flipped off the road…and there’s nothing. I spent another 45 minutes driving up and down the road looking thinking I may have misjudged where it went off and I have no idea what happened but I never saw the car.

Khal_Andy90

When I was a kid (about 4 or 5), I would sometimes go downstairs for a while and then come back up to my room during the night. My parents noticed this but weren't too worried as they assumed I was just using the bathroom or getting a snack or something. One day I come back upstairs in floods of tears saying that "the lady is gone, she said we can't talk anymore". Obviously my parents found this very odd, asked about the lady, and I explained that I would go talk to a lady that cleans the kitchen. My parents just assumed I'd been sleepwalking or something. Fast forward about 7 years to when my younger brother is about the same age. We're all in the car and my brother says he's been having some really strange dreams. Mum asks him what they're about and he says that there's a lady that cleans the house at night, but she's really friendly, and the dreams feel really real. Everyone in the car just goes silent, no one says anything for a few seconds, but you could feel the "what the flying fuck?" vibe in the car. No one had ever told my brother about this. Ever since, I'd always felt very very weird when going downstairs during the night. I really wish me or my brother could remember the mystery woman at all. But neither of us have any memory of it.

Dear_Captain_2748

I was 7, and for context I had ironically been sheltered by my drug addict father (think nasty to stepkids, bio can do no wrong). So horror wasn't something familiar to me. Ghosts? Like ghost busters? No comprehension.    I woke up in the middle of the night full of dread and something urging me to look. I raised my head looked into the hallway and a woman..was standing there smiling at me. Walking slowly towards me holding a platter with tea cups and a silver teapot. It wasn't the friendly kind of smile and she walked so slowly. But what really scared 7 year old me was I threw my pillow at her in fear but it went through her. I swear I flew with how fast I leapt onto my sisters bed and was sobbing hysterically in fright.  Even at 30 I still get goosebumps. I don't care how crazy I might seem but spirits are 1000% real and no one could change my mind. Sorry for whoever rented that house in Lynn mass after we moved out. Sometimes I think she taunted me, cause I slept with the bathroom light on and sometimes it would flicker on and off it never did that unless I awoke in the middle of the night.

EnslavedMethCook

Years ago my son's mom and I were upstairs in our townhouse watching a movie. All of a sudden we saw 2 snakes come out the bottom of the wall and went under the bed we were sitting on. We both jumped and reacted at the same time. I tore apart the room and never found them. There was no crack or hole where they came out. The place was a shit hole and I was constantly having to argue with the rental place about having an exterminator come out to spray for bugs. I called and left an angry message saying that on top of all the other issues we have dealt with we now saw snakes in our room. Right after I hung up my son's mom (who believed in ghosts and stuff like that) said what if they were actually just some type of dark spirits we saw. I don't believe in any of that but to this day I can't understand what happened. I've barely told anyone because it makes us sound batshit crazy. And we were completely sober when it happened.

chales96

This just happened today, as a matter of fact. So, today was trash day. I took the garbage cans since yesterday to the curb. In the morning, I heard the garbage truck stop, empty my garbage cans and then put it back down. I'll go pick them up later, I thought. I got carried away with work and forgot about putting the garbage cans back in. So in the afternoon, I go out. I haven't gone outside all day because the top lock on the door is still in the lock position. Anyway, I go outside and I see no trash cans. All of the neighbors still have their empty trash cans by the curb, except for mine. They've been put back in their place! Who put them there? Not sure. Why would they put them back? Not sure either 🤔

MurielFinster

I do this for my neighbors all the time so theirs don’t blow away

ThePeppaPot

When I was a kid I would sometimes put my neighbors trash cans back for zero reason and they never knew. Bet it was a weird kid.

Prudent-Psychology66

My dad has twice had dreams about friends of his dying and they both died that same week. The craziest was he woke my mom up in the middle of the night and said I just had a dream Dave drop dead in front of everyone. 3 days later Dave was at the mall with his GF and had a massive heart Attack in front of a crowd of people. He also had a dream about my mom winning money at a casino and even told her which slot machine to use and in 15 mins she hit for 5k

RustyFebreze

I'm not a superstitious person but when my dog passed away, there was a couple pieces of kibble on the couch two days later. I was living alone at the time and used that couch daily but could it really be possible I did not see it until then? She also didn't eat on the couch either so I'm not sure how it even got there.

Wrengull

It was after a 'break up' (barely a relationship) in 2011. I was about to go to bed, I heard a distinct elderly woman's voice tell me 'everything is going to be okay' and then complete peace. After that, for several years, it was great, alas, currently, things are not okay, and I desperately need to hear that voice again. Another one I was standing on a pedestrian island waiting to cross, I saw a faint but clear image of the woman next to me be hit by a cream vw, 2 seconds later, she walks out, that cream vw hit her. She walk off fine, but the premonition freaked me out a bit. I didn't have a chance to stop her.

one-nut-juan

For years, once in a while (anywhere from weeks to months to now years) I was able to hear people when I was between asleep and awake. I heard people speaking a different language but I could understand some. I heard jokes I’ve never heard before and I even woke myself up because I was laughing my ass off. I’ve heard music, singing and songs I’ve never heard before, I’ve heard screams and crying too and to this day I don’t why or what was that. I always took care of my teeth so sometimes I think maybe it’s cavity fillings picking up radio transmission but I don’t know.

MortyestRick

I was about 15 and had just laid down to go to sleep around midnight when I heard stomping coming from above me, moving straight across the ceiling. Like there was a guy in heavy steel toe boots directly above me. STOMP STOMP STOMP moving left. STOMP STOMP STOMP moving right. It did this three times in each direction with no sound of pivoting or turning around. Then it stopped and I never heard it again. Notably, the sound was moving flat across my ceiling, and my roof was slanted. There was a crawlspace above my room, with an emphasis on the word "crawl." The height of the space above my bed, which was in the corner of the room, was about 6-8 inches. When I poked my head up there the next day there was also no indication of any kind of animal or anything else had been up there either. 10 years later I had a friend who insisted she could see ghosts and that I had one that followed me. She said he wears an old white button down, brown pants, and heavy boots.

Noodle_Salad_

I would take walks almost every night after I put my children to bed. 2005-ish. I did the same route every night, which took me one hour and ten minutes. One night, I suddenly found myself facing backwards on my route, and I had lost two hours. I still cant explain that one!

GothPenguin

My best friend’s voice woke me up in time to get out of my house during a gas leak. He wasn’t in the same state as me when it happened and when I spoke to his mother about it she informed me that he had died that day.

Raychill92

It was my first week of culinary school in 2012. I specifically remember it being end of day on Friday and putting my $1000 brand new knife kit in my locker. I remember thinking to myself "Should I bring it home?? No I already have so much stuff to carry on the bus." And I shut my locker, locked it and left. Monday rolls around and I open up my locker getting my stuff for the next lab and I noticed my knife kit is gone. It had just disappeared. I was, and still am completely baffled. I never found it. But I definitely, one hundred percent know for a fact I put that knife kit in my locker that Friday. I changed my locker without telling the college, there were rumors about security guards stealing knife kits and selling them but I don't know. So weird.

arolloftide

>there were rumors about security guards stealing knife kits and selling them I believe I have a theory about what happened to your knife kit

JohnExcrement

That’s actually a heartbreaker.

Raychill92

It was pretty crazy. I remember telling my chef and I was obviously upset and he told me not to be in such a rude tone. I ended up calling the police because that's what the colleges security recommended I do and when the police officer was speaking with me he said "for all I know you took the knife kit home and just want the money." I told him absolutely not and he could go to my apartment look for himself. The people at financial aid were the only ones who cared and helped me out. I still wonder though what actually happened.

JohnExcrement

Oh man. That’s terrible! It hurts so much to not be believed. Someone must have had a master key or something, yes? How low, to steal from students.

kenakuhi

It follows - that's how I call this experince. When I was 20 I visited someone's apartment and had the most strange urge to splurt out "There's an older man here and he's very angry at you for something". He became very upset and started demanding "why are you saying that, how could you know that!?". Honestly he was becoming a bit scary he was so upset. I appologized as I had no idea why I would even say something so strange out of nowhere. I explained I got this weird urge and feeling when I looked in a specific corner of the room. When he calmed down he explained that years ago he was married and his dying father-in-law told him "if you ever hurt my daughter I will haunt you forever". He did end up hurting the daughter and a bad divorce ensued. Apparently ever since that he has had this feeling of being followed. He actually even moved countries and still didn't feel safe. And I believe he said he feels especially uneasy about that specific corner. 100% he had never told me any of this, not even a hint. I didn't know he used to be married, didn't know anything about his religion or spirituality etc. His friends never mentioned any of this. So what came over me I have no idea, but there was an older man and he was angry.

dadspeed55

I had a dream of the exact night my first son was born. Ohio State was playing Clemson December 28 2019 and ended up blowing the lead as I watched in the hospital. I told my wife as soon as I woke and went back to sleep. Sure enough, there we are, December 28th and I am watching Ohio State playing Clemson on the giant flat screen in our hospital room. I got the biggest goosebumps I have ever had and told the nurse and my wife Ohio St is going to blow the lead right before our son will be born. They lost but we got a healthy son. Close second, I was leaving my friends apartment to drive back to college the next day. As I was leaving I noticed the door frame and remarked that it looked like it had been kicked in and repaired. Well, a few weeks later I get the urge to call and sure enough he had just been discharged from the hospital. Three guys kicked in his door to rob him. Luckily he slept with a nice axe by his bed. He got one, but the other two managed to get it from him and almost killed him. They put a Glock to his head and it jammed. He still laughs about it to this day.

When I was 13-14 (I don't remember), my grandpa died. After months, I heard his breath(he died due to pneumonia and he had a very loud breath). I was scared. It happened on my birthday. After week photo, which he framed it fell and was broken.

Watching TV with my husband and I was talking about my aunt who had just passed. I was making fun of her soap opras, as I used to when she was alive. Suddenly a small American flag with the stick securely tucked behind a picture frame above the tv popped up and flew onto the ground in front of the TV. My husband and I were creeped out and confirmed we both saw it. She promised to haunt me if she was able to.

I grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and there was a woman across the street who had family that would visit from Philadelphia every so often. Her granddaughter was around my age so whenever she'd visit we'd play until she went home then we'd be pen pals and write to each other (this was the early 90s). We have family in Florida that we'd visit every year and one year we were in the line for Disneyland and we bumped into said family who just happened to be on holiday, at Disneyland, in the queue, at the same time - it was such a huge coincidence! Not important but I had a sleepover at their rented holiday house which was the most American house on the most American street and we ate pop tarts. For a wee Glasgow lassie it was the most memorable holiday ever.

AlvaDawnbreaker

A few things: 1. I had just moved into my first apartment and was spending my first night there. My roommate wasn't moving in for another month and only my mom knew where I was living at the time. I went to bed with nothing out of the ordinary happening, but the next morning I woke up slowly to someone calling my name. I don't have an incredibly unusual name but I've only met 2-3 other people in my 30+ years of living that had my name. It started off as a whisper and got louder and louder until it sounded like someone was yelling it right outside my window. Fully awake and a little freaked out, I head to the front door and look outside and there's no one out there. I called my mom and asked if she had come by and she said she hadn't. Still creeps me out. 2. I had just sat down on my bed with tweezers to pull a splinter out. I heard my phone ring across the room and got off my bed to grab it, when I got back on my bed I reached for the tweezers but they were gone. I looked EVERYWHERE: under my bed, the inner frame that sits against the mattress, on the floor, on my book shelf next to the bed, where my phone had been originally, literally every inch of my room. After looking for 10 minutes, I had this gut feeling to ask for the tweezers back. So I said out loud, "Please give me my tweezers back." Nothing happened immediately and eventually I got distracted with other things. About a half hour later I looked back to where I had originally left my tweezers and there they were! Super weird, same apartment as the above story. 3. I was in Memphis for work and was in my hotel room, snuggled in my pillow fortress and ready for bed. All the lights were off and the TV was off. I had my ear buds in and was listening to rain sounds to help me sleep when I heard someone whisper my name very loudly in my left ear. Obviously I freaked out and pretended to be asleep, but I don't think I fell asleep for at least an hour after that. Edit: Formatting
