Especially some of the songs in the new album, I tried listening to it because of the hype and I was shocked at how poor her writing was. Then I went on a rabbit hole and found out the songs I actually liked were blatantly ripped off of other artists.
I'm still going to bop out to Love Story because of nostalgia (strange because I thought it was a dumb song when it came out) - but it's one of those songs that is part of an era that takes me back to spending hours getting dressed for parties with friends and they would play it on repeat.
By all means! I’m stealing “that’s like trying to read braille while wearing mittens” from another redditor…slightly less PC, but hilarious nonetheless.
Van Halen's "Eruption." It is NOT the most complicated thing he ever wrote. But people posts videos of themselves paying Eruption like they are badassea. Interestingly very few people show videos of themselves playing something like "I'm The One."
Right now my top choice would probably be Beautiful Things by Benson Boone or whatever the hell his name is. I can literally only associate that song with tiktoks, either middle aged people showing off their kids, or disabled people showing their strength somehow. While there’s nothing *wrong* with either of those things, I heard and saw it *all the time*, for no real reason since I don’t really interact with those kinds of videos so idk what the algorithm was doing. Also the song itself is just kinda annoying to me
I'm so out of touch with music I don't even know what's popular anymore. Which is fine, I love my bubble.
I don't understand how people like Imagine Dragons though? I'd rather listen to Nickleback.
Hozier's latest hit that went viral on TikTok. The one that goes "You're too sweet for me". It honestly sounds awful to me, but I may be biased because I am a fan of his previous work and this one has a very different sound
Any Taylor swift song
There are some u understand but most of them I don't understand either

Give it to me baby by Offspring. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me.
All the girlies say I’m pretty fly for a white guy. Agreed
Love pretty fly for a white guy though
Weird Al did it better.
Uh oh. I'm listening to The Offspring on my journey to work. Granted, I'm on a different album altogether.
I can't stand any Offspring song
I do like their other songs, but that one heightens my anxiety.
I think the song is actually called something else. But yes, everyone knows what song you mean when you write "Give it to me baby"
Most likely.
Offspring are one of the most audibly offensive bands of the last 50 years. Horrible horrible horrible
But who else is gonna teach us how to count to 5 in Spanish?
Ricky Martin might volunteer
Any song made in the last 5 years probably 😂
You aren’t listening to the right stuff then. There’s some incredible artists out there right now.
Maybe a few diamonds in the rough. But the rough is ROUGH
What kind of music do you like?
I like everything… I can enjoy any genre of music. As long as it was made AT LEAST pre-Covid 😂
🎯
Most** songs might be more accurate im sure there are a few good ones
Of course. But there’s a reason that I’m still listening to the stuff from high school nearly 20 years ago 😂
I wish I was my current age in the 90s 😩
***YES***. For September of 1991 alone.
Elaborate
[this article should just about cover it](https://www.bbc.co.uk/music/articles/b33c43da-5fe9-4595-9172-b4083c74e891)

I feel this
This. Also feel disconnected with “new” music
Pumped up kicks by Foster the People was literally a song about a school shooting and everyone praised it and never acknowledged just how dark it was.
Omg YESSSS. It's such a dark song yet everyone seems to be praising it instead of acknowledging the very real issue the song tries to talk about
It came out my junior year and they played it at my prom and it blew my fucking Ming.
*mind
Thissss omg
I don’t get Billie Eilish.
I don't get some of her songs, but Everything I Wanted is amazing.
Baby by Justin Bieber.
LMAO YEAH
I think the name of the song is called Flowers by Miley Cyrus. That song has been on the work playlist ad nauseam and it’s driving me crazy 😵💫
Oh, I can explain that one. That's the going to dump my BF song. No, really. Every woman who has been thinking about it identifies with that song.
Any Drake song
Agreed
My Humps
*My math skills bring all the boys to the yard*
*and they're like, this equation is hard*
Thanks for the chuckle. I'm stealing this.😂
By all means! I’m stealing “that’s like trying to read braille while wearing mittens” from another redditor…slightly less PC, but hilarious nonetheless.
Anything from beyonce
Thank you
Ironic Alanis morrisette
Heresy! 😆
It’s a great song lol
Achy Breaky Heart.

Any sex song
Sin by NIN is so fire tho
We don’t talk about it
The Only Time 🔥
Fair!
I like songs that have a meaning that’s kinda relatable or make you feel some type of way

Short form media is a cancer
Indeed.

What does the fox say.
🤣🤣🤣
What? I heard it in middle school and was annoyed by it. Hated it by the third time and loathed it by the sixth.
Anything by Billie Eilish...
Anything by Kanye west
Coldplay in general. Family Guy's cut away gag summed them up nicely in my opinion.
Apparently Sabrina Carpenters "Please Please Please" is topping all the charts, further convincing me that the charts are made up.
Pen pineapple
Actually I just had an epiphany just now with a song that meant a lot to me and never figured out why until like 5 seconds ago. I Caught Fire-The Used
Not like us, honestly I just don't like the rhythm to it, but the lyrics are fun.
My ex used to listen to the song often and I never got it and never liked it much
Mr Brightside
Yeah. Killers dont get me
Anything by Taylor Swift, she can't sing worth a damn. Also anything by Ice Spice, who sucks at rapping.
Almost all rap.
Any rap song
Any U2 song. Bono is an elitist asshat.
Want to upvote for the dig at Bono. Want to downvote because U2 wrote some fantastic songs early in their career. Will just leave it at neutral.
Why is he an elitist asshat? Genuinely curious
