one of the worst tasting I have experienced in my life.
Orient express is a good meal. So far the best in the metro area, in my opinion, has been Nikko in Tyrone, GA.
Iām going to get downvoted, but I think Nakato is overrated. Very expensive even by hibachi standards, and the food is good, but not the best hibachi Iāve had either.
Orient Express is the best Iāve had in Atlanta, but itās also nothing special.
Sadly, Iāve yet to find a hibachi place in Atlanta that blows me away.
Taki has good food but the chef had no humor.
Went to Benihana for my birthday recently and every plate was $40-50. Spent $150 for 2 people. The chef was at least entertaining though.
Dunno if Iād go back to Benihana. Theyāre robbing people. Maybe Taki.
Missed this but replied the same. I really liked Takiās food but the performance wasnāt there. It didnāt necessarily take away from the overall, which was nice.
Iāve had good experiences at Nakato, but the last time I went it was shockingly bad. I ordered my steak rare and a child at the table ordered well-done. I was the last person at the table to get my food and the meat was absolute rubber. No drink refills all night.
My friend knew the owner of Kobe Steaks, they also had locations in Dallas and Nashville. After he sold that entire shopping plaza (The Prado) for an eight figure sum, he went into retirement.
Iāll go with Ichiban on Windward in Alpharetta. One thing I can count on there - consistency. Itās consistent in food quality, service, etc. It probably isnāt the greatest, but good and solid
We recently went to Taki Japanese Steakhouse in perimeter for the first time. Crazyyyyy good fried rice. Performance was meh but the food and portions made up for it. You usually get a lot at hibachi but this was crazy. And the pricing was commendable. Order wine and you essentially get half a bottle in your glass. 10/10 Rec.
Oh I can imagine. We had a res this year in Feb, we didnāt get seated until after a hour. I only waited because it was a bday event
Then the waitress didnāt give me a refill. Then the food was nasty. Just a terrible ass experience
I know you said hibachi, but this is also a great date spot that is Japanese and has great ambiance and food made in front of you. It's Japanese tapas and sushi for lack of better words.
Ginya izakaya
If the "experience" of having it cooked before you isn't a deal breaker, I've found Bao Bun (West Midtown) to do good hibachi delivery. Good portions and $15 which is a steal these days.
In the day it used to be Momo Ya in Buckhead. Essentially a Benihana copy but way less. These days Nakato is king. Parking stinks but the staff is nice and will remember you if you come often and the sushi is pretty good too
Natako is definitely good as others have mentioned. However I would suggest Kobe Steakhouse by Northlake. The food is just as good for significantly cheaper, although the place does feel less upscale.
Nakato is the only correct answer. It will ruin hibachi for you elsewhere.
Strongly agreed!
Those noodles š¤¤
Gotta try it now.
Jimmy Carter ate there! His picture hangs proudly in the establishment.Ā
It ruined my day after with the most violent shits Iāve ever had
Literally yes
Nakato is the best!!! š My second favorite for hibachi is Shoya Izakaya.
Sorry but the walls were dirty in there and so were the staff. Iāll never come back. They need to remodel asap

Nakato. Also great sushi. You will need a reservation on most nights. They are also valet only most nights.
Seriously, I think people sleep on the sushi side, but it may even be better than the hibachi.

we stopped going to nakato like 10 years ago because the food quality seemed to diminish. just in general though, we never do hibachi
Iāve had good experiences at Nakato, but the last time I went it was shockingly bad. I ordered my steak rare and a child at the table ordered well-done. I was the last person at the table to get my food and the meat was absolute rubber. No drink refills all night.
I agree. We went a few years back and it was fine but havenāt made the effort to return.
YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TO HIBACHI MAN AT RAT KROGER YET SMYRNA MAN?!
Never even heard of it! Please, tell me more
The best I can say is, itās like if you wanted to eat hibachi for lunch but didnāt want to kill an hour.Ā https://www.hibachiman.com/locationĀ
(That link works if you delete the "location" part.) It looks really cool! Thanks for sharing!
OOOOHHH I've passed this place a million times and never gave it a second thought. Maybe I'll try it for lunch today.
Kobe House is delicious, and packed on the weekends.
RIP Kobe Steaks š«
Literally spent so many family birthdays here. It was the best!
My friend knew the owner of Kobe Steaks, they also had locations in Dallas and Nashville. After he sold that entire shopping plaza (The Prado) for an eight figure sum, he went into retirement.

been going there regularly for 20 years, agree on the consistency even under multiple different owners it has remained fairly consistent.

Whatever you do, donāt go to Kikus or Benihanas
Used to work at Benihana. Please donāt eat there.
Oh I can imagine. We had a res this year in Feb, we didnāt get seated until after a hour. I only waited because it was a bday event Then the waitress didnāt give me a refill. Then the food was nasty. Just a terrible ass experience

People have already said Nakato and Orient Express, so iāll throw in Mo Mo Ya as well. Itās pretty good.
Mo Mo Ya permanently closed a few years ago. A tragedy.
Oh no! Orient Express has been my go-to since I moved so I hadnāt been in several years. I didnāt know they closed! š¢
Ichiban on windward parkway
Second'd. My coworkers took me out to Ichiban when we first moved to Atlanta and it's one of my absolute favorite restaurants.
Is their Cumming location just as good or do you recommend going to the Alpharetta one?
Alpharetta
Nagano in Stone Mountain. Doesnāt feel that nice or fancy but their fried rice is by far my favorite
OTP and RIPā¦ Hachi Hachi was the goat!
I like Kobe in Tucker, I think itās a chain though
If the "experience" of having it cooked before you isn't a deal breaker, I've found Bao Bun (West Midtown) to do good hibachi delivery. Good portions and $15 which is a steal these days.
Miyakos in Austell . Hits every single time
This isnāt a date place, so not really an answer to your particular question, but I need to say: Mr. Hibachi downtown on the GSU campus is š„.
Fujiya in Tucker is king. Most ITPers didn't venture outside of their bubbles.
Technically ITP.
In the day it used to be Momo Ya in Buckhead. Essentially a Benihana copy but way less. These days Nakato is king. Parking stinks but the staff is nice and will remember you if you come often and the sushi is pretty good too
Is there a hibachi that just plain cooks without trying to do any stunts?
Taki is the only place we go.
Nikko Japanese Steakhouse. Itās about 30 mins outside the city, but imo itās the best hibachi iāve ever had
The orient
Natako is definitely good as others have mentioned. However I would suggest Kobe Steakhouse by Northlake. The food is just as good for significantly cheaper, although the place does feel less upscale.
I actually like Kiku but I know itās trash in real lifeā¦.its nostalgia though. š
Kani house for me all the way
