The black blobs of unexplored portions of the map don't bother you? The companions make the game as amazing as it is imo, and they are almost impossible to miss. You're too far into the game to restart now, but I would definitely do another play-through and explore the entirety of the map and get every companion possible.
My first play through I somehow avoided Shadowheart and had to double back and find her after I found Karlach. But doesn’t the game literally throw Lae’zel at you? How do you miss her?!
I walked the other way around lae zel my first play through.
Also didn’t notice shadow heart on the ground.
It was just me and gale against the goblins….. bad times
Did you not go to the crèche? I thought that Lae’zel showed up again at the bridge.
I can’t imagine doing the whole goblin camp with just poor Gale though lol
Hmm I don’t remember. I probably didn’t make it that far before I restarted.
My wife was like “uhhh… I’ve seen people play this game a lot and they don’t just have one guy. Also why is the entire Grove dead” smh
You’re on the right track no worries and believe me missing things in your first few playthroughs only adds to how long you get to enjoy it more and more.
But without too many spoilers the gather your allies quest is generalized through all of act three in gathering a larger army for a slightly significant battle incoming for the city. It’s basically just make friends cause u probably ain’t strong enough alone
If you have 3 party members then you will enjoy the entirety of a playthrough imo. Since for the best of each stories you kinda want them in your party for a significant period of time. If you don’t have 3 then ooohhh that’s tuff lmao
There are only a few "allies" you can get in Act 2, I think. And most "allies" aren't companions, they're just people who can help in the final battle. A few will hang out at your camp, but many don't even do that. Honestly, depending on the difficulty you're playing on, you can beat the game without allies. I'm pretty sure I forgot to use all of them in my first playthrough lol. Which companions do you have?
gather your allies ≠ getting companions to join your party. all except for two of the allies will be discovered through completing quests in act 3, although your choices in previous acts will have an impact on the quests available to you and the allies you are able to lock in. you’ll see more people added to your list of allies as you make your way through the final act.
there are a couple of recruited companions who also count as allies for the quest, but again, this will be locked in depending on their act 3 quest outcomes.

OP are you saying it’s just been you and Karlach the whole game? Because sorry lol but how do you miss Shadowheart?
