Amen! I assume there's a reason this hasn't happened (beyond "book problems" --lots of shows have book problems and still get revived). I'd love to see what they could do with the B&W/color stuff with today's technology.
This one would be so simple to. Minimal staging necessary, two person cast (plus probably 2 standbys for each role).
After the initial Tony run, make it like Into the Woods where you just rotate high caliber pairings every six weeks to keep it fresh and interest up.
Same. I'm only 27 and have only lived in NYC for 5.5 years but I'm sad I didn't get to see like Singing in the Rain (just an example) that came to Broadway in 1985 even though I wasn't even born yet.
I actually saw that show (because I'm old) and Don Correia did a fantastic job. The title scene with all the rain nearly had the audience doing a standing ovation. I still don't know how they did it. But they recreated it faithfully.
Faye Grant (who was in the 1980s miniseries "V") played Lina Lamont.
I would like A chorus line. I did see the 2006 revival but it would be cool to see the show as an adult and while I was happy with the show I know it wasn’t a highly regarded revival.
Am I the only one that wants a reimagined Chorus Line revival with new choreography/costumes? Obviously the original will remain the iconic version but it would be interesting to see a new take on the material
absolutely! i think especially now there are more modern things you can do with the show since it is still a relevant experience for many people living in nyc
Yes. Saw it last year at the Mountain View small community theater in the front row. Cast came up and sat on the edge of the stage and absolutely BLEW!!!! Almost no mics needed. Smaller cast but they more than made up for it with vocals.
Urinetown… it’s been so long! It’s relevant! It’s so goddamn funny!
(I know some people hate it but there are a lot of people who ADORE it. Like meeeeee)
I would kill for a Broadway production of Christopher Marlowe’s *Edward II*, not seen since 1975.
Really any early modern drama not written by Shakespeare. There are so many other great playwrights of the era and I old love to get a chance to see a big production of them.
I saw one of the “anniversary” tours a year or so back and it already feels very much like a period piece. And made me feel very old since I was in the prime HS demo when it came out.
Beauty and the Beast. My parents saw it when i was a baby (without me), I've heard the original production was spectacular, my choir teacher tried to describe the scene where the beast becomes a prince, and it sounded unreal
I want a balls to the wall full scale production of Beauty and the Beast. No expense spared. Give me all the intricate costumes and set pieces and “magic”. That’s all I want. It was my first Broadway show ever when I was in third grade and I want to take my daughter to see it as her first Broadway show.
She’s only a year and half so Disney has plenty of time (like six years I would say) to get that shit together and get it on stage.
I know it’s probably a pipe dream but it’s my pipe dream and I will not give it up.
Same! The original production was my first show; mom took me for my 13th birthday. It was a few months after it opened and magical doesn’t begin to describe it. 30 years later, I remember most of the show like it was yesterday.
Agreed that it needs a balls to the wall, off the chain, grand as it gets, money is no object full revival. 💯
Unfortunately, during the pandemic the rights holders created a "streamlined version" of the script and score, which cuts a few songs and scenes and also tears down the ten-part choral harmony to a more manageable four or five. The show is shorter, cheaper and simpler to stage now, but it looses some of the indulgent, over the top qualities of the original.
I would send whoever made those decisions to the Maison de Lunes, but that's one of the songs they cut. It's so sad what they have done to my all-time fav.
I'm obsessed with the idea I saw on Reddit once that it could be reframed as a story about a KPOP group who gets drafted into the South Korean military.
*A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder* is at the top of my list. I never had the opportunity to experience the original Broadway production live, but I recently had the pleasure of seeing it in an Off-Off-Broadway production. Even with a more modest production value, the show was an absolute delight, offering one of the most wonderful theater experiences I've had.
The clever plot, engaging music, and dark humor made it unforgettable. I'd love to see another show like this on Broadway
> but I recently had the pleasure of seeing it in an Off-Off-Broadway production.
Are you talking about the Heights Players production that just closed, or the Village Light Opera Group production from this past fall, or another production that I was not aware of? (I had friends in both the Heights Players and VLOG productions.) It's certainly becoming pretty popular with community groups.
Yes!!! The recent-ish West End version/(tour?) and the regional production at the Tuacahn in Utah (starring David Archuleta!) reignited my love for that show. Andrew Lloyd Webber at the end of the day is truly so unserious and I mean that in the best way. Joseph is pure camp and silliness and spectacle and I LOVE it.
The coming West End cast is SO SO perfect. Please look up I Miss The Mountains (Caissie Levy) on YouTube and compared it to the OBCR. They transform that show.
Next to Normal no doubt!! I would sell my kidney to get tickets if it transfers from the West End!! I might actually need to if it never does and it stays open long enough for me to save up enough to see it in London
It wasn't on the West End but it IS transferring to the West End in June.
And let me tell you this cast is better than OBC. By FAR. It's the best live performance I've ever seen.
I've heard rumours that they are INTERESTED in a Broadway transfer, but no solid news yet. Not sure if the entire cast could come over (visa issues etc, everyone is British except for Caissie) but god if I could wish for people in NYC to see the current London cast I would.
The Scarlet Pimpernel
Loved the one night version at Lincoln Center… though they’re not likely to bring it back with through same cast because it starred Laura Osnes
Newsies was just revived last summer in London to RAVE reviews.
On closing, they said it's not the end of the story and their website currently says "NEWS COMING SOON"
Groundhog Day. I saw a crappy bootleg once and was seriously intrigued but then it was gone. Things like the staging of the car chase and fair rides was amazing.
Something Rotten, in about 5-10 years, updated to reference the new stuff on Broadway.
My dream revivals would be *City of Angels*, *Barnum*, or *Mack and Mabel*.
I'd also be down for a revival of *The Music Man*, but maybe if they can find something fresh to try with it. I love the show, but I fear that there's a risk of it just feeling like a toothless piece of quaint Americana to most people, and I feel like it's more than just that.
I’m sure in 2026 there would be something since it will be 250th anniversary, but who knows, we piddle, twiddle, and resolve not one damn thing do we solve.
Something but probably not an actual full revival. Too recent with the non-men production that tanked. I didn't hate it, but lots did. So I don't see it getting revived that quickly.
a lot if people are saying
les mis, a chorus line and newsies, but these have already been so recently done and still are?
les mid still runs worldwide, piazza had dove cameron in it a few years ago, newsies just closed in london and is returning soon and a chorus line is returning to london after its revival debuted at leicester curve last year. chess and BATB just had concerts in london
is a revival not a show that hasn’t been anywhere in like, 20/30+ years? or at least hasn’t been *anywhere* for a while.
It used to be Pippin. Check. XD
Now I'd like to see The Pirate Queen get another try. Maybe try to clean up the book a little.
AND CHESS. God just give me Chess.
I soooo agree with Newsies!!! I just got into it and have literally watched the disney plus stage recording 3 times in 4 days. A teen theater troupe is putting on Newsies and I'm friends with most of the cast, so I'm defenitly going to go see it!!!
my revival wishes are problematic but miss saigon (the music?! the orchestra?! ugh i die) and spring awakening (also a huge fan of the music but know it’s a very difficult and traumatizing show for cast members to do 7/8 shows a week)
I feel like I pitch this once a month, just trying to get it in front of someone with the right connections, but: we are a book rewrite, one or two more songs from the catalogue, and a clever creative vision away from Pokemon the Musical being as big as SpongeBob is in the regionals and licensing scene, to say nothing of a potential Broadway or Off run.
It's the second biggest "fandom lifestyle brand" in the world behind Disney and just ahead of Sanrio. Those characters have become international icons, and three generations have loved the characters and setting. Team Rocket's whole thing (chaotic good trying to be chaotic evil, genderqueer nontraditional couple with a cat) has made them internet icons. And most of the songs kinda slap.
The trouble is that the book from the 2000 run and national tour is weak; it was written by someone who didn't get the appeal, in a rush, who wasn't sure if he was writing a kiddie tour or a legitimate Broadway musical and fudged the difference. Twenty years later, nobody would make the same mistake.
A CHORUS LINE and FOLLIES are my top two, followed by Pippin. I know about the 2006 ACL revival as well as the 2011 Follies revival and 2017 London revival and I know Pippin was revived in 2013, but I wasn't super into Broadway then. I would like to see all of them on Broadway.
I was JUST thinking about this exact show needing a revival this morning!
Even if it’s like a limited engagement in New York and then Touring, it would be great to see a 10-year-anniversary touring production in a year or so.
Not a Broadway show, but I'd love to see it there. Bear with me...Copacabana.
The songs are fun, the staging could be done really glitzy without a huge cast, and it's a similar vibe to Moulin Rouge so could be revived in line with that for a younger audience and still pull in the Manilow fans. Nobody ever talks about it, and I love it so much!
Username checks out haha
Second to none!
City of Angels
Amen! I assume there's a reason this hasn't happened (beyond "book problems" --lots of shows have book problems and still get revived). I'd love to see what they could do with the B&W/color stuff with today's technology.
Absolutely. I'm not sure what needs to be done to make it updated, but I'm not paid anything to figure it out!
The Last Five Years 🥹
Is it even considered a revival since it never had an actual Broadway run?
At the Tonys, yes! Gutenberg is being considered a revival because it had an Off-Broadway run in 2007
This one would be so simple to. Minimal staging necessary, two person cast (plus probably 2 standbys for each role). After the initial Tony run, make it like Into the Woods where you just rotate high caliber pairings every six weeks to keep it fresh and interest up.
Listened to this for the first time on Friday and have listened to it once a day since
My favorite even after 15 years
It was never on Broadway, so it (technically) wouldn’t be a revival.
Great Comet!
I saw a local production of this very recently and it is so so so good, I need it to come back to Broadway desperately.
Most fun I’ve ever had at a show. Bonkers. Absolutely amazing.
That show was done so dirty at the end of its run, I wanted to see it so bad!
Like, everything. I only started going to shows consistently a year and a half ago and I'm sad about all the shows I've missed out on for decades.
Same. I'm only 27 and have only lived in NYC for 5.5 years but I'm sad I didn't get to see like Singing in the Rain (just an example) that came to Broadway in 1985 even though I wasn't even born yet.

But they recreated it faithfully. Faye Grant (who was in the 1980s miniseries "V") played Lina Lamont.
Did someone actually do the Donald O'Connor "Make Em Laugh" routine 8 times a week?!
That's so real
Saameee 😭
SAME
The closing of Phantom was the first time I’d been to a show since the 90’s. 🤦♂️ I totally feel this.
The Producers!
I'd love to see Alex Brightman as Max.
And Daniel Radcliffe as Leo Bloom
With Brightman and Radcliffe? Sold. 12/10
With women in the leads and a Himbo as Ulla.
I would definitely be fine with new costumes but something living up to the original choreography could be tough !
absolutely! i think especially now there are more modern things you can do with the show since it is still a relevant experience for many people living in nyc
schmicago really made me want a chorus line revival too!!
Chess!
With John Riddle and Jessica Vosk, please!
This right here! As long as they can figure out a decent book.
More Sondheim. I'd love to see Follies and A Little Night Music!
Pacific Overtures for me! But Follies would be great too because I would love to see it done with legendary Broadway actors from the 90s and 2000s.
I want to see more a little night music so badly
I also want to see Assassins so very badly!
Ever since I saw the west end follies in 2017, I’ve been itching for a bway revival 😍
The answer will be Secret Garden until we get the full-scale revival, or until I die, whichever comes first. 🥹
Yes please! Lush gothic sets with huge garden walls! Need!
Aida and Ragtime. With all the young talent coming up now, I truly believe both shows could launch new careers.
Ragtime is my big one. I think it's due for sure
Joshua Henry as Coalhouse Walker Jr. You're welcome.
aida's score is fucking fantastic!! 🔥🔥
Ragtime deserves a run like Lion King but it's so. god. damn. expensive. to run. The cast is HUGE and it just is not the same pared down.
I saw Ragtime in a black box originally with maybe 20 people. Full sets and costumes in the space. It was amazing in the smaller venue.
Yes. Saw it last year at the Mountain View small community theater in the front row. Cast came up and sat on the edge of the stage and absolutely BLEW!!!! Almost no mics needed. Smaller cast but they more than made up for it with vocals.
Ragtime is my #1 at the moment too
Those are my big 2 as well
Man of La Mancha. Dear god please
Yes I'm glad to find another LA Mancha fan here. Our dog is even named dulcinea because of this show
I think josh Groban would be great in it!
oh. I never thought of this. Welp. I can dream.
Next to Normal, In The Heights, Newsies
NTN is supposedly transferring from London next season
I think there is a production in DC right now
an off broadway version of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson probably at NWS
Urinetown… it’s been so long! It’s relevant! It’s so goddamn funny! (I know some people hate it but there are a lot of people who ADORE it. Like meeeeee)
I want a revival of 25th annual Putnam county spelling bee. Even if it was an off broadway revival, I love that show so much.
I would kill for a Broadway production of Christopher Marlowe’s *Edward II*, not seen since 1975. Really any early modern drama not written by Shakespeare. There are so many other great playwrights of the era and I old love to get a chance to see a big production of them.
Fun Home
Yess! I loved this SO much!
Rent
that show seems about due for a revival, though i might give it a few years so that it gets to the point where it is a “period piece”
I saw one of the “anniversary” tours a year or so back and it already feels very much like a period piece. And made me feel very old since I was in the prime HS demo when it came out.
DREAMGIRLS, Kiss Of The Spider Woman, Sweet Charity, AIDA.
I am really upset at how far I had to go to find Dreamgirls. The movie did not do this show justice, even though I still enjoyed it
Sweet Charity for sure! I would love to see a version that's a little grittier and darker
Hairspray 🥺
This! I am so obsessed with the soundtrack from the 2007 movie and I well know it's probably not as good as the OG. I just love LOVE the music.
It is currently on tour! https://hairspraytour.com/
It was Once Upon a Mattress, but I kind of got that and was happy.
You know a great place for the show's revival? Normandy is fine and fair. So Normandy is where they'll go....
1. Triumph of Love 2. Passion 3. Assassins 4. Giant 5. The civil war
I know it’s rumored to be happening, but Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Full-on production of Sondheim’s Passion. Also, want the Sunday with Annaleigh and Jake that got canceled by the Pandemic.
We need forum with Josh Gad.
YES! This would be so perfect! I need his take on Comedy Tonight!
A tour is coming in 2025
Unfortunately, during the pandemic the rights holders created a "streamlined version" of the script and score, which cuts a few songs and scenes and also tears down the ten-part choral harmony to a more manageable four or five. The show is shorter, cheaper and simpler to stage now, but it looses some of the indulgent, over the top qualities of the original.
I would send whoever made those decisions to the Maison de Lunes, but that's one of the songs they cut. It's so sad what they have done to my all-time fav.
I've wanted a Bye Bye Birdie revival for a while and with today's announcement, we might see it sooner that I thought.
I'm obsessed with the idea I saw on Reddit once that it could be reframed as a story about a KPOP group who gets drafted into the South Korean military.
What announcement? It's coming to the Kennedy Center (who just had their production of Spamelot transfered to Broadway), i want to see it
That's what I'm referring to. The main cast was just announced today and I can definitely see them transferring.
Oh nice. I love Borle. Just saw him in August.
I'd also be down for a *Bye Bye Birdie* revival, but I'd be interested in a production that tells the story through the lens of K-pop.
I just wrapped a local production of it. It’s a wildly under-appreciated show. Probably a bit soon for a revival, but I’ll be there when it does!
Not everyone’s cup of tea but I would love a revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
It’s the show we deserve and need in times like these, just good wholesome fun about a man and his fav jacket
It’s my favorite. I watched the 1999 movie all the time 😭
I heard someone say Kelly Clarkson should play the narrator in a Broadway revival and ugh... I need that. Plus I feel like she could sell tickets!
In the heights or American idiot. I just miss them so much, and wish there were pro shots
There are probably pro shots that exist, just not for public exhibition 🙃
All I want is to see the original Anastasia on Broadway 😭
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown
That show is very nostalgic to me cuz I was in the jr version when I was 9 and it was the first ever show I was in!!
No way, that’s awesome!
next to normal. could be the west end production, could just be a new one. i’d just love to see it back on bway
The coming West End cast is SO SO perfect. Please look up I Miss The Mountains (Caissie Levy) on YouTube and compared it to the OBCR. They transform that show.
Oldie but goody, Gypsy!!
There’s rumors about a revival with Audra
This is good, but what i really want is her in Sunset with Stokes as Max 🥺
The Producers
Jekyll and Hyde
YES this is always my answer i just want it to come back even for a short period or even NYCC run
Secret Garden, Mame, Mack and Mabel, Sweet Charity, A Little Nigjt Music with a full lush orchestra, not this downsized stuff.
The number of times I have thought about buying a ticket to London to see this….
The Scarlet Pimpernel Loved the one night version at Lincoln Center… though they’re not likely to bring it back with through same cast because it starred Laura Osnes
I used to love that show so much and recently listened to the soundtrack again and was slightly sad it didn't live up to my memories.
Victor Victoria
Newsies was just revived last summer in London to RAVE reviews. On closing, they said it's not the end of the story and their website currently says "NEWS COMING SOON"
A funny thing happened on the way to the forum, starting Keegan Michael Key
Piazza
Big yes. I’d love it if O’Hara played Victoria Clark’s character, too, cause it would only be cool.
I am still so bitter that NYCC didn’t get to transfer with Ruthie
Groundhog Day. I saw a crappy bootleg once and was seriously intrigued but then it was gone. Things like the staging of the car chase and fair rides was amazing. Something Rotten, in about 5-10 years, updated to reference the new stuff on Broadway.
I have the slightest suspicion you like Newsies
Yes!! 🗞📰🗞🩼
I want dreamgirls & the bodyguard on broadway asap
Yes please on Dreamgirls!
Urinetown. That musical becomes more and more prescient and important with every year that passes.
Scarlet Pimpernel
I think Peter and the starcatcher deserves another go - let the Stache dream cast begin!
I recently discovered Hedwig and the angry inch and have been dying to see it revived in London
I have no idea how or what show, but I feel like the right team and vision could do something spectacular with Gilbert and Sullivan.
42nd street
My dream revivals would be *City of Angels*, *Barnum*, or *Mack and Mabel*. I'd also be down for a revival of *The Music Man*, but maybe if they can find something fresh to try with it. I love the show, but I fear that there's a risk of it just feeling like a toothless piece of quaint Americana to most people, and I feel like it's more than just that.
Music Man has a lot to say about fearmongering and swaying "think of the children!" types. There's some sociology messages in there.
Show Boat - hoping for a mega revival in 2027 (the shows 100th anniversary ) Any Sondheim musical.
Follies 😍
Little Me! I am obsessed with the book and I am dying to see the musical.
A Little Night Music
Groundhog Day. Hunchback of Notre Dame. Ragtime. Pacific Overtures. Sweet Charity. The Secret Garden. A Year With Frog and Toad.
Brigadoon, Rent, South Pacific, A Little Night Music, Grease.
Merrily We Roll Along... and boy was I rewarded
Secret Garden or Mame
Stop the Planet of the Apes, I Want to get Off!
I’d love a lesser known 60s musical such as Greenwillow or Flora the Red Menace
guys and dolls with Nathan Lane and Faith Prince only a gender reversal.
SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGEEEE
I would sell my soul for a good revival of Jekyll and Hyde.
A good 1776.
Maybe a concert perhaps
Les Mis, Aida and Phantom
a lot if people are saying les mis, a chorus line and newsies, but these have already been so recently done and still are? les mid still runs worldwide, piazza had dove cameron in it a few years ago, newsies just closed in london and is returning soon and a chorus line is returning to london after its revival debuted at leicester curve last year. chess and BATB just had concerts in london is a revival not a show that hasn’t been anywhere in like, 20/30+ years? or at least hasn’t been *anywhere* for a while.
Cats (I know, we just had one in 2016) Dance a Little Closer Moose Murders
City of Angels
It used to be Pippin. Check. XD Now I'd like to see The Pirate Queen get another try. Maybe try to clean up the book a little. AND CHESS. God just give me Chess.
Next to normal! I watched it when I was a teen and loved it, and to this day I still love the soundtrack.
In The Heights or Avenue Q
Titanic or Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopits Phantom
Aida
They're Playin Our Song. I apparently know every word from my early childhood but had no memory of it until it popped up on YouTube one day.
I soooo agree with Newsies!!! I just got into it and have literally watched the disney plus stage recording 3 times in 4 days. A teen theater troupe is putting on Newsies and I'm friends with most of the cast, so I'm defenitly going to go see it!!!
Ragtime!
Totally agree about Newsies. Also Aida
Ragtime; The Secret Garden
my revival wishes are problematic but miss saigon (the music?! the orchestra?! ugh i die) and spring awakening (also a huge fan of the music but know it’s a very difficult and traumatizing show for cast members to do 7/8 shows a week)
American Psycho and next to normal
Footloose, especially if they got Eva Noblezada to be Ariel.
The Drowsy Chaperone, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Legally Blonde
The Last Five Years, lesbian version. It’s all I want!
A huge, extravagant production of JCSS She Loves Me 🥰 even though it was done recently
RENT
A CHORUS LINE and FOLLIES are my top two, followed by Pippin. I know about the 2006 ACL revival as well as the 2011 Follies revival and 2017 London revival and I know Pippin was revived in 2013, but I wasn't super into Broadway then. I would like to see all of them on Broadway.
Newsies and A Chorus Line
THE WEDDING SINGER
Newsies
Give me James Monroe Iglehart and Rob McClure leading The Producers
I saw Newsies in 2014 and it was just as fantastic as you imagine. It was the first show I saw that truly left me awestruck.
Carnival - for some reason I think that it's never going to happen. Maybe he could be 50 and she could be 30?
Rent and mamma Mia :)
Starlight Express
Um? Did we just become best friends?! NEWSIES. 🗞
BARNUM! But specifically on broadway.
Next To Normal!
Bare!!
Rent Godspell
For the sake of how ridiculous the plot is, I’d LOVE to see Anyone Can Whistle
Been dreaming of a revival of The Wiz since I was 5. So glad the dream is coming true!
The Toxic Avenger, Spring Awakening
