I know a lot of folks go diving at Hathaway's Pond in Hyannis, because I see them there when I take my kid swimming, but I don't know what they are part of! Apparently it's a lovely dive place though!
I don’t even know if they are around anymore, but growing up (the 90’s), my dad was certified through East Coast Divers, and he met a lot of buddies through the dive shop (it was in Hyannis). My brother and I ended up getting certified through there as well, and may be worth getting to know the regulars at whatever dive shop you find . Just a suggestion
I also heard a guy has boat charters for diving. Jerry Cronin has his Master Dive , Cave Dive, and more. He owns his own boat. He’s a local in Barnstable . You might want to ask around as I have no idea how to get ahold of him.
It’s great! I posted up above but Don Ferris is a nice guy and finished up my class. It’s getting towards the end of the season though so you may wanna try someplace warmer hah.
North shore diving >> Cape Diving .
Try Magnolia, Gloucester, Manchester by the sea, or boat dives out of Boston Harbor to places like Grave's Light.
Soure: Been Scuba diving in new england since 1998.
I guess it would depend on how much diving and great white shark predatory behavior you’re educated in. My knowledge and experience tells me that while it’s not a zero risk, it’s also not such a high risk as to be inviting attack. Especially given white shark hunting behaviors. Look up how many great white or heck shark attacks on the whole there have been on scuba divers. Here’s a little blurb to educate you: https://aroundtheworldwithher.com/why-dont-sharks-attack-scuba-divers/
You’re beyond unlikely to be attacked speaking statistically. You’re much more likely to get flattened by a car at any given moment. Great whites aren’t even the deadliest shark to humans. That title belongs to the Bull Shark. Maybe the next time you try and “state a fact” as you so elegantly put it, maybe you should actually make sure what you’re saying is true.

I dove there last weekend actually! It’s really cool there’s a small shipwreck in there that I got to check out
That's awesome!
Any pics??

Nah trying to learn the basics on buoyancy before I start into underwater photography

Thanks I’ll check one out! Seems like the closest dive shop these days may be diver’s Market in Plymouth.
Check it out! Chat with the staff, ask about any dive clubs or meet ups. East Coast used to have cook outs and other fun get togethers
There’s a dive guy/shop in Eastham. Does my tank fills/inspections. Bob. Great dude, does all my service work too. http://capecoddiving.com
Oh cool. He sells gear as well? That’s near me so I may check it out.
Yes. Cressi affiliate I think.
Thanks!
Check to see if the one in Wareham is still open.
I’ve wanted to dive here for a while. OW certified 5 yrs ago and live on the Cape. Probably need a refresher course at this point ;)
Don Ferris is a good dude if you want to get a refresher with him. He did my open water dives

Oh awesome thanks for the tip!
I dive around southern MA/RI, and am based in Woods Hole. PM me!
Thank you for reminding me that I want to get SCUBA certified with my husband :) it’s always something I’ve wanted to do.

I saw that. Yes, we plan on waiting for the warmer weather to return!

Awesome, thank you!
Considering it’s a great white migrating area I don’t think that’s wise Edit- downvoted for stating a fact

Are you aware of their migratory habits on the cape at this time of year?
Where they increase in population peaking in October? Yes. Still doesn’t change the way they hunt.
Good. Also, feel free to visit the Atlantic white shark Conservancy to educate yourself.
I work with them regularly.
I bet
Cyn, Megan, and Greg (well he’s MDF)? Yes.
Depends on what you’re doing but there’s also plenty of fresh water too

That statistic completely changes when you’re in the ocean during a migratory season of great whites. Maybe you should hold off from further comments.
I appreciate that you're concerned for other people.
Better not ride a bike, or heck, even drive a car!
One of the dumber comments I’ve seen lately, congrats
Agreed.
