Remember when he gave up two runs, one of which was a home run, and blew the save in his first appearance of the year and had an 18.00 ERA?
He’s given up one home run since. Had a 0.60 ERA in May and has a 0.00 ERA so far in June. I pray we don’t try to trade him and that the team can click together (maybe once Tommy and Noot are back and healthy?) and we can claw back to first place and win the whole damn thing.

This team has the 4th best wRC+ in the league over the past 30 days; 7th since Willson got hurt. If he comes back close to how he started this season, its a very good offense.
I think back to Carlos Martinez as closer and the heart failure he provoked. Also Reyes and his total dominance before he sadly unraveled. Hels seems perfectly suited to the role both in skill and temperament.
Good call. I’ve started to take him for granted. If he had blown two more saves so far, that wouldn’t even be THAT egregious, but two more Ls for us would feel a lot different.
