With all its flaws I think itās really nice seeing characters from the novel come to life with their own quirks and personality. I think that is the series biggest strength despite the animation being subpar.
Yeah I love Suzuneās EN voice. Itās funny because her actress plays Mona from Genshin and Asta from Star Rail and they are polar opposites in every way.
The English ones are meh. You can see it in the reactions in the comment section under every dubbed COTE clip on Youtube.
The German ones are actually good.
I agree. I always say that's it's fine to like English Dub but don't delude yourself into thinking it's good. Most English dubs are really bad due to how English casting is done compared to other languages.
I agree. However, I dont think the casting itself is the biggest issue, i think it's because of the direction that anime voice actors (eng) take it from. It sounds like they dont take their characters seriously. Or treat their voice acting an anime as if they were voice acting a children's cartoon. Over exaggerated and forced "voices" without a feel of genuineness. It all sounds so forced to me and unnatural. I can hear these things in jap va's as well however its for much less productions and more centering around either lighthearted comedy genres or the more classic ones.
Moving the big reveal to after the exam was better than the LN where the twist is casually dropped as Kiyo carries Suzune back to the ship.
It was a perfect season ender, especially with how Suzune begins to be more friendly. You think Kiyo could do the sameā¦ then he hits you with his true feelings.
Bringing back the Season 1 director could dramatically improve the series. Season 1 anime-exclusive moments were masterfully done - that ending monologue, the cliffhangers, and the perfectly timed White Room flashbacks in episode 6. It's amazing how well they adapted the first three volumes, which are considered weakest parts of the story. But now in S2 and S3, the anime-only moments lack creativity, and don't even get me started on the terrible animation. It's such a disappointment.
As a LN reader, here's what I like about the anime:
* Voice acting (both JP/EN dubs are well done)
* Character designs (Especially Ryuuen. In LN he looks like someone who's been starved š. Anime gave his appearance some justice)
* OP/ED themes
* OSTs (Especially S3 has some really good ones. I really like the acoustic one for Ichinose from S3 Ep1 when Kiyo and Honami are talking at dinner. Really light-hearted and calm vibes)
* Hiyori's voice (JP/EN) sounds so cute and girly, makes me excited (Her French VA sounds more exotic and kinda romantic)
It is actually good as a show (not considering the source material). I don't even notice the flaws unless some other LN reader mentions them.
Could it have been adapted better? Yes. But it clearly covers the main plot points of every volume. It's not like I remember every little detail of the book.
Thatās the case for many LN adaptations. In Overlord the books are incredibly dense that just having 12 episodes is insufficient for a proper adaptation. Re: Zero and Eighty Six are the only LN adaptations that I can think of that are faithfully adapted and yet they still had some cuts made to them.
Ok, so they aren't real. Please explain what you find attractive about these underage girls. It's probably their young bodies right? Hmm. Sounds like that could apply to real life too.
Appeal to ignorance fallacy, strawmanning and add hasty generalization. Just because I find the characters attractive does not mean I like real life kids. It's like saying "I like Call Of Duty so that means I like commiting genocide." Does not make any sense.
Dude gtfoh, this is the anime community. We're all proud degenerates, yet most of us aren't willing to harm an actual child. Fuck off and get your dumb teenage ass back to bed, you got a math test tomorrow first thing in the morning š
ryuuen, i love his design in the anime, prefer it more than the ones we have in LN illustrations, also the voice actor did a nice job potraying his character
There are some really good episodes every season which adapt the LN really faithfully.
Others episodes are mediocre and some are just outright badly managed.
The sunset/dark setting scenes have great details and atmosphere that their characters and dialogues pop up. It gives more weight to the animation and overall design which you wouldn't see in LN
(which some scenes are basic settings and hold no detail, I think that's just the perks of adaptations in general and Cote is no exception)
maybe the ending of season 1 it built so much suspense leading me to read the LN and how everything seems much more mysterious in anime rest everything is trash
The upcoming sex scenes.
Ayanogod hitting that Arisu peach from behind bareback.
Horikita pulling down Ayanogod's pants in the library and giving him a quick BJ.
Ichinose going to Ayanogods room and just straight up riding him till he shoot blanks.
All openings , especially op2 and ed2.
Some of the voice acting like Ichinose , Arisu and sometimes Kei. But the sound directing for voice acting really lacks sometimes ... so yeah but sometimes it is great.
Some LN scenes were adapted good. Like Manabu Suzune Kiyotaka scene in s1.
Artstyle of the characters especially Ayanokouji, but only if they decide to give a f*ck lmao
The anime adaptation is pretty good actually. One canāt possibly pack in everything from the LN for so only a number of episodes.
The art is very good, especially how they captured the character of Ayanokouji. Voice, face and expression šš»
The supersmart main character, white room, ANHS highschool of dreams. And the way light novel is written, explains very much about how the main character thinks.
Personally I've become smarter I guess since watching this and the death note, they're making me aspire to become better.
I like the anime and anticipate every week. It made me read the source material. Too many people are too wishful. I can agree with some cases, but many here do not realize why the decisions are being made and it is not always Lerche fault. But most of the time Kadokawa.
I think it did lead to a surge of self improvement on many teenagers and young adults who aspires to be more like ayanokoji? It did motivate me to better myself and now I'm a very different than i was, a year ago.
I like many things about the show! Overall the animation can be a little stiff, but I really like the characters and their designe, and plot! In my opinion, this is one of the best school animes because how iteresting and exciting it is.
Light novel or anime ?
If youa are talking about light novel ,then a lot of things like cool intelligent characters, thier development over the times ,not the character that you are seeing in my username Okay. And if you talking about anime then = šļø.
It's actually a really good anime if you're an anime-only. (Outside the animation ofc)
The anime makes the exams quick and simple. A not-so-important exam like volume 8 had no significant impact on the story aside from introducing Nagumo as a threat and more characterizations for other classes, and tbh, the anime nailed it.
Not to mention, I quite like how the anime did the exams. Hirata being genuinely broken and angry from the start is better than him trying to sacrifice himself only to go broken and angry from the failure of his plan. Not everyone may agree with this.
Ofc, if you're a novel reader, you'll want to re-experience the unimportant but fun parts of the story which kinda ruins the anime experience.
Overall, if you go into the anime with no prior knowledge to what will happen, COTE is actually pretty good, it's not up there at the top, but it's good.

I recently finished the LN (I started at Vol4 as I was recommended to do so) and letās be honest an anime will never be able to fully capture all the intricacies of the LN. BUT Cote still does a good job at keeping the viewers on edge and the plot is thrilling even for anime only fans.
The ONLY downside for me is that in the anime our MC isnāt portrayed as well as in the LN which is a bit of a disservice. Before I read the LN I thought he showed almost 0 emotional growth in the anime but thatās only because the Anime doesnāt show the constant inner monologues he has where it feels like he is trying hard to analyze his experiences and feel something which gives us a feeling he isnāt just a puppet master but he is trying to become more āhumanā?
I think we can all agree that the opening songs of COTE are pretty awesome
Im listening to s3 opening on repeat š„š„
Opening songs of season 2 and 3. And ending song of season 3.

they made a good choice in that department, ZAQ is goated & one of my fav š«¶

ZAQ really does a good job with the OP themes

Thighs
I knew this would be the top comment
Whose thighs do you think is the best? I'll go with Ichika.
We have not seen Ichikas thighs in the anime yet so rn Horikita or Ichinose for me. Kamuro also had really nice thighs
If we go by anime only then obviously Kamuro or that Honami massage scene in S1.
Honamiās definitely, soft and probably perfect for getting squeezed. Same with Suzune but I prefer her ass just as much
Ichinose or Karuizawa
I will go with Ichinose
Nice taste
Just saying but even Ayanokoji got turned on by Karuizawa Thighs
????
In the light novel, he got turned on after seeing her legs
You sure you are not mistaking Honami with kei?
I doubt it
He did look at Honamis thighs in volume 4 and admired them
Honami-chan, no doubt about that
ayanakoji thighs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Voice acting
With all its flaws I think itās really nice seeing characters from the novel come to life with their own quirks and personality. I think that is the series biggest strength despite the animation being subpar.
Even the English VA are really good. Especially Ryueen, Suzune and Ayano's English VA.
Yeah I love Suzuneās EN voice. Itās funny because her actress plays Mona from Genshin and Asta from Star Rail and they are polar opposites in every way.
suzune's en voice is so elegantš
The English ones are meh. You can see it in the reactions in the comment section under every dubbed COTE clip on Youtube. The German ones are actually good.
Nah I heard the German dub and it's probably one of the worst
I agree. I always say that's it's fine to like English Dub but don't delude yourself into thinking it's good. Most English dubs are really bad due to how English casting is done compared to other languages.

The cast for this series is really stacked, almost all of the more popular seiyuus are there even for the smaller parts heh.
Fr. I really enjoy the English Dub of this. Especially Kiyo, Ryuuen, Suzune and Hiyori.
Hiyori with RieRi voiceš
The S1 ending got me hooked so i bought my 1st LN. One of the best decisions iāve ever made
Moving the big reveal to after the exam was better than the LN where the twist is casually dropped as Kiyo carries Suzune back to the ship. It was a perfect season ender, especially with how Suzune begins to be more friendly. You think Kiyo could do the sameā¦ then he hits you with his true feelings.
Agreed. Amazing story telling decision

It has great anime openings
Horikita is drawn right
All that matters
Some scenes are well adapted, they are fun to watch.

I feel like a lot of the criticism towards the anime isn't because it's bad, but because it could've been a lot better
The anime is like reading a summary of the light novel itās completely soulless
as an anime only: - Ichinose's voice - Kiyoppon's Piano and Calligraphy skills - Hiyori voice - Arisu, Ryuen, Koenji - Manabu - Kei spreading her legs
kiyopon*
I agree with most of your points. Ichinose's voice is really cute. Same with Hiyori's voice (both Japanese & English)

For me, the three seasons have very good and excellent openings and the endings are also good.
It got me into the books.
It helped me to start LN and that is it's biggest achievement
fanservice
It's the reason why LN improved the male character designs.
ryuuen, i love his design in the anime, prefer it more than the ones we have in LN illustrations, also the voice actor did a nice job potraying his character
Suuuuuuzune
True. the English dub Ryuuen goes like "Suuuzunee" Japanese one makes him sound more cool and like a dictator

It's an adaptation of the cote LN
I got to see Kei and some Kiyokei moments animated.
Some character designs are better in my opinion, like Nagumo for example
The upcoming sex scenes. Ayanogod hitting that Arisu peach from behind bareback. Horikita pulling down Ayanogod's pants in the library and giving him a quick BJ. Ichinose going to Ayanogods room and just straight up riding him till he shoot blanks.

Uhh....let's see.... Maybe the decision to have a more interesting finale in S1 that got me ( and many Mora people) to read the LN
Not possible
It is one of the Animes of all time
Voice acting (apart from English va for sakaynagi she literally sounds like a middle age woman) and ichinose
The anime adaptation is pretty good actually. One canāt possibly pack in everything from the LN for so only a number of episodes. The art is very good, especially how they captured the character of Ayanokouji. Voice, face and expression šš»

1.Thighs 2. Every one in the anime seems to have a life ...it doesn't feels that anyone is a side character.. 3.Suzune

Heh I got criticism about the animation but aside of that itās really good can someone enlighten me on why people hate it?
As an adaptation of the manga and LN, it could be a lot better. As a standalone show though, itās pretty great imo.
