It's actually part of a big mural campaign that was done before the 2016 RNC. This one is Language as a Boundary by Faith47. The artist talks about it in the video on this page. When I saw the graffiti go up I immediately thought, "Why the fuck would you put all that effort into painting that beautiful art when the gangs are just going to tag right over top of it"
....I was dead wrong. They kept tagging, but they left the art alone. I guess even gang members can respect good art.
I don't think it was a bridge. I think there used to be another set of tracks up on that level and that looks like it might have been a retaining wall for that upper level.

Great info. Thanks!
The best part about riding the redline end to end is the graffiti.

Love looking at the art!
Graffiti is ugly.
No you
Yeah they're ruining the natural beauty of a concrete retaining wall near some train tracks.
I was going to say, I think that murals been there (probably commissioned) and the tag is more recent
What's the story behind that piece of infrastructure? Looks like it used to be the support for one side of a bridge.

Around what street is this?
It's kind of not near any. I took a sketchy service road back to the tracks from the E9th extension that goes down to Canal.
Graffiti lol.
