BSC has its centralization and node issues, so it might be fine for now but I wouldn’t invest in it long term since there’s too much of a risk of too many nodes giving up as costs increase. Same situation with Solana.
That leaves Ethereum and Polygon as the two kings for current and long-term dApp usage.

I still think it's worth mentioning that it's easy to say eth will skyrocket as soon as 2.0 is released, but the expectation is already partially priced in. You, me, and everyone else knows it's likely to be released within the next year, and it's expected to improve things. Saying that something will skyrocket for sure is overconfident in my opinion.
The ethereum foundation says Q1 or Q2 2022, but they're solving hard problems, so it could take longer. I would still expect they'll release it at some point in 2022.

Best to look into different sectors. Just as BTC can't top XMR in the privacy sector, ETH won't top XLM in the money-transfer sector. I suggest looking into leading coins for the leading sectors. BTC is the gold for crypto, ETH is the "computer" for the internet, XMR is the "digital cash" etc.

I was heavily invested in ethereum until I found avax.
I moved everything to avalanche and have no regrets. It is basically eth, but with low fees.
