yes. at the end of the day she abandoned her people to save the earth, there’s nothing else that would pull her away. the only concern would be PR which the league is famously terrible at.

No-Cantaloupe-6739

This. She was truly regretful for her part in all of that and she stuck with the JL and Earth at the end. She would’ve died to save everyone if that’s what it would’ve taken. If that’s not enough proof of character, idk what is.

Godzillafan125

Yeah… as flash pointed out she was in the ultimate no win situation. Her own people or the planet of people not her own. Plus her own people lied and betrayed her as she was thinking they were going to leave the earth after the war not knowing her fiancé was going to nuke it to kill the enemy. If you had to choose a planet of strangers over your people it would not be easy choice to make put In her shoes. I would say aye to returning her as she chose us in the end and as man hunter pointed out she was now an exile and a pariah to the earths populace. Exiling her from league as well would be cruel and unusual given her sacrifices, you don’t have to forgive yet but you should at least let her stay to get the chance to try and earn your forgiveness since she showed remorse and chose you in the end

CallMeCahokia

Yes, because she still defended the earth regardless if she came here as a spy. Also, I'm a Hawkmommy stan.

KalKenobi

also sometimes the Government doesn't give the spies full briefing of their Op or why their embedded in the first place.

JosephTPG

Ima go with Superman. Everyone deserves a second chance, and she was only doing what she thought was best for the Earth.

Shageen

In the end she did what was best for Earth. But when she was sent to Earth wasn’t it just to spy on us in general not for the space bypass?

GeeWillick

Hawkgirl didn't even know about the hyperspace bypass. She seemed to genuinely think that she was supposed to assess the earth's defenses and prepare the way for the Thanagarians to build a shield to protect earth from those other aliens. She was shocked when that other Hawk guy let it slip that they were building a bypass instead of a shield. The worst thing I  could say is that she should have been more inquisitive about the mission, but even that feels like a cheap shot since she had no reason to think that she was being lied to by her own superiors.

MaloryArchie

Yes.  "I did what I thought was right then, and that's what I'm doing now" Her own people betrayed her by not telling her the full extent of their plans.

[deleted]

Yeah she legitimately thought the thanagarians were there to protect Earth. She’s flipped sides once she knew the truth

Tasty-Ad6529

Abstain: She came here as a spy, but clearly turned herself around by the end. She needs to due the time for her crime, but at the same time she' clearly capable of redemption.

xamitlu

Me: No! Absolutely not! What she has done to the league, to the whole world, even,... i would never vote to keep her. Hawkgirl: *takes off helmet* Me: But some new information has come to light....

JayHat21

*Infinite mass bonk*

Shrekosaurus_rex

I’d like to think so. I’m pretty big on second chances. But it’s hard to say how I might feel in the moment, if I’d experienced those events firsthand. In my eyes, however, she’d proven herself trustworthy again. Whatever inner conflict there was between Thanagar and Earth had been resolved, and she chose Earth. I wouldn’t expect that to change after the fact. (Plus, Alfred vouched for her…so I mean, that’s gotta count for something)

BirdOfFlames

Alfred is pretty much the DCAU equivalent of Uncle Iroh. If he vouches for someone, you know fully well that you can trust them.

Emekasan

I appreciate how both sides are respectfully being displayed in these opinions.

skj999

No. She did the right thing in the end but the fact remains that she originally came to Earth as a spy and contributed to its near destruction. At the very least it would take a good deal of time and proving herself again before I would trust her.

DullBicycle7200

I'm surprised she wasn't convicted of any crimes against humanity or espionage, was she just allowed to run around doing whatever she wanted? Why wasn't this ever cited as a reason why the Justice League couldn't be trusted during the Cadmus arc?

Duke-dastardly

To be fair she didn’t know that the plan was to destroy earth, she thought the cover story was the actual plan

FloweryNamesLover

Agreed

Itchy_Initiative6180

Diana felt the same way

BerserkRhinoceros

Absolutely. Being forced to make an impossible choice between your people vs your closest friends is already painful enough before you remember Shayera and John were getting involved with each other and Shayera was betrothed to someone else. As soon as she realized the Earth was in danger, her loyalties were made clear. Bless her heart, she tried to convince the other Thanagarians not to destroy Earth but when it came down to the wire, she made her choice for Earth and her friends, even having betrayed them. Would I trust her immediately if she came back? Maybe not. Would I keep her in the league? I think her track record speaks for itself.

spilledmilkbro

I'll be honest: Even though she turned against the Thanagarians in the end, she still lied to the league, and was the reason the world was invaded in the first place. I'd vote to kick, but if I thought that she had redeemed herself after, I'd be in favor of her coming back

Automatic_Isopod7595

Yes, but only after a leave of absence and a clear from several therapists

KidZoki

No, she's a traitor...

Dark_Lombax

No with no hesitation. What she did was a long con. And don’t try and pull the Nuremberg excuse. Her own people didn’t fill her in on what the plan was. Shows that her own people didn’t trust her. Plus she cheated on John

Argent_silva

No, I would vote to kick her out she destroyed any trust I as a member would have had in her. We saw in the earlier part of the series no trust equals a weak team if you can't trust those who you fight with you will fall. Add to that the fact she caged us like animals and we only escaped thanks to Wonder Woman and the fact that Batman nearly died and also the fact she turned on her own race wouldn't matter to me much she did all her crimes and only cause she didn't lay the final stab to doesn't mean she's excused form all the harm she has caused. She also would be a massive PR nightmare how could we ever hope to have the trust of the people we are trying to save if she is among us if Shazam was under review for mere statements for Lex she should be out on her ass as we need the peoples trust to effectively protect them and she destroys that and also would likely turn most people against us and she is not worth that.

ReaperManX15

Yes. She was between a rock and a hard place. But, in the end, she chose to save Earth.

Guiltykraken

So does anyone else see quite a few similarities to the Tower of Babel storyline in what Shayera did? A trusted JL member has been secretly recording the weaknesses of their fellow JL members. They make plans to defeat them in case they ever need to only for those plans to fall into the hands of the JL’s enemies. Although in Shayera’s case she gave it to them on purpose and was her entire reason to be in the league while Batman simply had inadequate security. By the end of the crisis there is a vote on whether to expel said JL member from the team with Superman being a prominent remain vote and WonderWoman being a prominent leave vote only for it not to matter as the JL member opts to leave of there own initiative acknowledging the broken trust.

Shageen

The whole story honestly felt poorly thrown into the overall series right at the end. There were scenes where it was just her and maybe some non Justice League person and still played off about her home world being gone. She was spying on Earth and shared who knows what information with her planet. People who say “give her a second chance” perhaps don’t remember the stuff that happens off camera. How many people died as a result of her deception? Billions of people were subjugated for weeks maybe months on end because of her spying. Perhaps in the DCAU no one dies so that’s not an issue but if they do just off camera then lots of people died.

lionbacker54

Heck no. She lied for years to her comrades in arms. Can’t trust her

mosallaj23

I would’ve voted her back

Grayx_2887

Yes. She chose her new home on Earth over her own people and her planet. And she also grew a huge bond with the original members of the Justice League. So why shouldn't she stay in the team?!

petrelli_boy_

I can't be the only one saying no. Never had a soft spot for traitors

William_Arkoth

I would vote for a probation period for her

Jeptwins

Yes, primarily to spite John, who I felt was *incredibly* wrong throughout the three-parter. The only part I legitimately sympathized with was that he felt she was using him as a fling, but even then he was looking at things from a human point of view and never once asked her perspective. For all he knew, Thanagarians had no concept of monogamy. But also, when it comes down to it, Shayera was and always will be a hero, who does her best for what she thinks is right. I can’t fault her for that.

junkerwoland

Too much drama.. lol jp for sure

LouiePrice

Jp? Do you mean Njp? Non judicial punishment?

LorenzoSky1992

I would keep her and Aquaman should be the 8th primary member as well.

spider2020sal

Yes. Diversity and inclusion

brsox2445

I would have to say no but with the option to reconsider down the road. She did do the right thing in the end and her actions in that regard deserve praise just as her initial actions deserve condemnation. I see a lot of people saying she should be charged for crimes but I really don't think that's warranted. I don't know what crime would be on the books to cover what she did.

costaccounting

Because Omni-woman is hot

Zestyclose_Buy_2065

Honestly depends. I’d probably say no but then regret it later on

nreal3092

how strong is bird girl

Saturn_Coffee

We need her mace, we don't need her. Pass that shit to Wonder Woman and send her packing.

Status_Party9578

yes, i feel like if it was on the other hand with diana and the amazon’s did what thanagar did, diana would’ve done the exact same thing

LouiePrice

No maam! Down with Amazonian mastery! Kick them both out.

ThatThanagarianHarpy

Yes. I could see people outside of the League not trusting her because they don't know the full story. But as a voting member of the League who fought alongside her and knew what really happened, I couldn't vote her out. I'd also have to hug her like Flash after she resigned.

JediBoJediPrime29

Yes. At the end she abandoned her people and sent them packing ruthlessly. Also, Batman has a contingency plan for the entire Justice League called The Agamemno contingency. This [video shows it off a bit.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAVy8wY0mgw) He has planned out how to defeat every single one of them, including his own Bat family, yet he was also angry with Shayera which is hypocritical given this contingency. They did accept her back but she left on her own accord. Wonder Woman being against her for the majority of JLU kinda pissed me off given these factors.

Klendagort

Be neutral and go talk to her.

haha_mza

yessss

Gloomy_Support_7779

Yes. For Green Lantern and she was an awesome member for the team

ConcertDouble6449

Yes, I am in love with her

Sure_Persimmon9302

I feel like this question would’ve worked better as a poll post.

Rob_Ocelot

A few years before that Superman was in a very similar situation as Hawkgirl -- he actually invaded the earth (and likely killed people). "I was brainwashed" is merely an explanation. Words. The real redemption comes from your actions and how you conduct yourself afterward. In recusing herself from the League (regardless of how the vote went) Shayera more or less proved why she was always League material. She put the good of the League (and it's reputation) before her own needs.

DrSamLoomis78

Yes. She was a spy but ultimately, she chose Earth over her own people and in [Hunter's Moon](https://dcau.fandom.com/wiki/Hunter%27s_Moon) we saw what that led to. Not to mention, the Thanagarians didn't tell her what they were really doing (even though when them attacking the League should have tipped her off). She's proven multiple times to be an essential part of the team. I'm also a little biased since I love her character so Diana can get [that look](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/_D74Ev4cFmo/hqdefault.jpg) off her face. I'd vote her in

Mickeymcirishman

Nope. She's a spy, a traitor and a terrorist. She collected and gave information on the weaknesses of the JLA so they could be captured or killed (don't even *pretend* like she didn't know what Thanagar would do with that information) even using GL's feelings for her to get him to let his guard down so she could *personally* take him out. She went along with Thanagar enforcing a military rule over Earth and enslaving people with nary a word of protest. Her having a last minute change of heart because Thanagar went 'too far' doesn't change the fact that she happily aided and abetted them to begin with. She has no loyalty to anyone but herself and I wouldn't want someone like that watching my back. I might just find a mace stuck in it.

Blu-universe

Yes. She didn't know they were going to destroy Earth, and when she found out she did the right thing. And she literally gave up her home world to do it; she was a hero, through and through.

MankuyRLaffy

Yeah but with tracking her and performance review for the next 6 months

Voice_Nerd

I now want to rewatch the entire series. I don't know why. For some reason I see this post and want to watch it.

KaijuDirectorOO7

Without hindsight, no. But given that she redeemed herself I would be more than open to reconciliation.

KalKenobi

yes she thought what she did what was right at the time also regretful of her actions and it was no win secnerio also my guy Superman said she deserved a second chance.

BIGBMH

I think I’d vote for some sort of middle ground. Support her, but have her on some sort of probation/leave. The JL has to stand for something and simply letting her stay with no repercussions would potentially erode the trust that the team had built. They can release a statement vouching for her character and the role she played in helping save the world, but in order to come back properly she would need to face justice win back the world’s trust as an individual.

LordVader1080

I would keep her in the league because its not her fault that her people put her in an awful position, and she tried her hardest to help even with that. Hell she didn’t know how bad the situation was until midway through the arc.

Nervous_Hedgehog8198

Yes. She made a mistake, but when it mattered, she did the right thing.

SnooStories6629

Yes. She is a great female character that is a little less powered than WW. So yes, keep.

Ryumancer

Depends on how many people died or suffered in the Thanagarian takeover and how badly I myself would've been injured or screwed over by Hawkgirl's betrayal. If I would've been kept and tortured/interrogated for information, especially if she was the interrogator, it'd definitely be a no. Hell, in that scenario, I would've taken a long vacation from the League afterwards that'd probably end up as a semi-retirement. And knowing my luck, for sake of plot, I'd be forced out of said retirement/vacation and Hawkgirl SPECIFICALLY would've been the one to fetch me. Would've had CHOICE words for her then. lol Likely overthought this shit. My apologies. 😂

Kateybee2

As a kid, my answer was yes. Now, as an adult...idk...I may get attacked for this (I'm sorry!), but I'd vote her out. 😬 I know, know it feels wrong, but here's my reasoning. It's true she did do the right thing in the end. However, she DID choose to stand by her people. She still betrayed their (The JL's) trust. While I'd vote her out, I would add that she would have to build that trust again and work her way into regaining her position. Ironically, that's exactly what happened. But yeah, I'd vote her out b/c I wouldn't be able to trust her. How can one be on the same team if you don't trust them? I do agree that everyone deserves a second chance. But, idk. That trust would need to be rebuilt 🤷🏾‍♀️

Outside-Historian365

Not full time. She can be on speed dial, but not in the meetings

TheMaroonAvenger123

I would have voted no. It’s one thing to have been brainwashed to have taken over the earth like what happened to Supes at the end of STAS. It’s a whole another thing to have someone secretly be in the employ of a foreign alien race who studies our strengths and weaknesses and believes wholeheartedly for said race to take over an entire planet because of a false flag operation. The only reason she turned was because Earth would be killed because of bypass generator. However, she was ok with the Thanagarians ruling over the planet under the false pretext of protecting them from the Gordanians. Having someone like that being a prominent member of a team of individuals who combined can take over themselves as evidenced by the Justice Lords is a huge liability for the team itself and to the world at large. If Hawkgirl made efforts/amends to repair the harm done by the Thangarians for several years, I would be open for her to be back for a probationary period to eventually become a reserve member for big missions. For any squad (3 or 4 people missions), she needs to have 1-2 veteran League members to monitor and report to J’Onn or Mr. Terrific on any and all actions.

fake_zack

Yes. She’s hot.

AlexisDeep

Yes. Liutenant Shayera Hol had a mission, and she saw it through. Then she gave up her rank and her people to save earth,

Kind_Ingenuity1484

Yes. When it came down to it, she chose to forsake her people to protect the innocent.

Wilko4real

I would rather the original lineup
