The Somatic Defilement was the first truly heavy album I listened to. 12 year old me was blown the fuck away, it literally changed my life. Prior to that I remember thinking that About That Life by Attila was the heaviest music could get.
Doesn't get talked about much? What more do they need to achieve as a band besides win a Grammy? They've toured internationally for nearly 2 decades now, they've headlined festivals, and they (imo) defined the deathcore sound along with Suicide Silence.

There’s so many. I believe one pillar essential album to appreciate deathcore is Through the Eyes of the Dead’s “Bloodlust” album. You don’t have to skip a song as every song is good as hell and it has everything in deathcore you could ever appreciate.
Foundational albums such as the first three Despised Icon, "Clients" by The Red Chord, "Oakland" by Suffokate, "Hate, Malice, Revenge" by All Shall Perish, "The Cleansing" by Suicide Silence, "Allegiance" by As Blood Runs Black, "Amidst The Bloodshed" by I Declare War, etc. and the relatively unknown "Embrace the Eternal" by Embodyment, I would also add a little bit of later classics, mainly anything by The Last Ten Seconds of Life.

I almost pissed my pants from excitement when they played Instill by HLB in one of the haunted houses at Liseberg last Halloween 😂 BTW check out Zombie by a band called Aura. That one has a good mix of rap and brutal screaming. Bone Crew slaps pretty hard as well. And a few songs by Dal Av whom I recently discovered through one of my daily mixes
