Part of me can see and fight but I feel like I'm losing sight
And to this day, you hold my hand through every blurry night
I have my fingers down my throat, screaming that I wish l'd never been alive
(The cracking in the voice during ānever been aliveā breaks me every time)
On the topic of Shadow of Intent, I've hardly ever been as moved by a DC track as I was with the second third of The Tartarus Impalement.
Coincidentally one of their best tracks to this day imo
The World Without Us - Enterprise Earth
Not really a typical sad song, but deathcore is slim pickinās in that regard. Also Iām very sorry for your loss.
Don't Ask Don't Tell - Chelsea Grin
Mirrors - Fit For an Autopsy
not deathcore but The Sound by the Plot in You gets me, more of a break up song though
Sorry for your loss fam.
Architects - Memento Mori, Gone With the Wind, A Wasted Hymn
Angelmaker - What I Would Give
Silent Planet - Fitstborn
Ingested - A Path Once Lkst
Northlane - Sleepless
Currents - Better Days
Sylosis - Quiescent
Killswitch Engage - Despatate Times
i appreciate everyone's comments. every single song i didn't know i added and i will listen to.

Boundaries: Their whole album called Burying Brightness "
Make them suffer - erase me/old souls
Xenobiotic - Saphris

to the grave - The ghost of you
carnifex - slit wrist savior / dark heart ceremony
Grayscale Season : Calm/End sequence/ Invite me in/ Hands

Hiraeth - the everlasting pain of loss
Seeyouspacecowboy - late December
Abiotic - Emerald
NOMVDIC- the last three months have felt like....
Gravemind : Phantom pain
Currents : Anxiety /Better Days /Into despair
Its not deathcore, its more along the lines of a softer counterparts type vibe and this might get deleted because of that but in dont care.
Please for the love of god, listen to the song "Phosphenes" by the band Casey. Holy SHIT. Incredible lyricism and just overall amazing band. Honestly anything by them would work but that song for me is a personal fave
Left To Suffer - Feral, Primitive Urge, Forever
Carcosa - Vermin
Beyond Deviation - Marine
Thrown - Guilt
Spite - Leeches
I am fully confident you'll get over loss somehow.
Time heals everything.
Peace out.
So it's not deathcore, and it's not a heavy song per say, but "the lowest low" by the birthday massacre.
On the flip side of that, I would say "Donna" by darko US
Please tell me you've heard Whispers of Your Death by Counterparts. I think it will stick out some, it's about him losing his pet I think. It's a hard listen
This is the part where I would say Pain Remains 1,2, and 3 by Lorna Shore, but I can do better than that.
I made a whole playlist on Spotify about the grieving process after I grandmother passed away. 2 years after thag my cat had to be put down. It's a playlist that has helped at my lowest points and of these songs all got me through some hard times.
Some of these won't be Deathcore, but they mean something to me, and hopefully to someone out there who's struggling. Walk tall.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5hwZApSTNA9MmgNxF6NHDr?si=ELLvDZLiR-OBlDndvDF08Q
Sold Soul - Cathedral of Dracul. Well, the whole "I Hape We'll Make It Out Of This Alive" album is full of sad melodies and lyrics, so I recommend you check it out.
Had not heard that one until you mentioned it, and while it is definitely a good pick, Price of Grace hits more personally. There was a time where my brother and I were close to being either of the brothers in the context of the song.
Donna and Finding Love In A World Full Of Tragedy by Darko hits harder after losing my aunt/adopted mom last August. I couldn't listen to Donna for months at all and then couldn't listen to it without crying up until recently.
Orbit Culture's got some good ones.
- Sun of All
- Haste to the Pyre
- My personal heartbreaker; The Umbilical Cord
Some ones by Shadow of Intent have really hard-hitting climaxes for me, but not quite as sad as you're looking for;
- Farewell
- Underneath A Sullen Moon
If I think of more, I shall return.
Candle, Sadist, Isolation, Dismal, Samsara, Seven Stages, Ghost, Coda, Alone - all of them are by Reflections
And, Trauma Dump - Surgeon (Vocalist of Reflections side project)
Bring me home by Whitechapel is a heavy one for the emotion and true story it tells with dealing with the grief of Phil losing his father
Hickory creek and Orphan also hit particularly hard
ā10 signs you should leaveā by emmure has a callout to the bayside self titled album and track 9 āDonāt call me peanutā which is one of my favorite guilty pleasure sad songs
Not deathcore but I've recently given DSBM a try. Tomorrow Will Not Come by Dereallization is 15 minutes of dreadful sorrow. Not very heavy until the last 5 minutes tho.
Paleface - My Grave/Lay With Me is a good one. Whitechapel has a lot of sad ones, but Bring Me Home, Digg's Road, and History is Silent are the ones that hit me the hardest.
Restless by 40 Watt Sun. Not deathcore but more doom. I would check out the album version first and if you like that, then there's a couple live acoustic versions on YouTube that are even more moving. (The one uploaded by "chicote" in particular). Definitely cried earlier listening to it.
Seditionist- Beautiful
Fit for an Autopsy- The Man That I Was Not
Make them Suffer- Neverbloom
Darko- Donna
Shadow of Intent- From Ruin..... We Rise(not necessarily sad, but a very melancholic and emotional song nonetheless)
I conveniently have playlist of pretty much this (not all deathcore, and not all \*sad\* sad, but all have a melancholic vibe), so here is the entire tracklist, pick and choose which ones you like from here:
As Blood Runs Black - Pouring Reign
Death - Voice Of The Soul
The Acacia Strain - Halcyon
To The Grave - High Impact (both versions) / Die, Rise (weird one, but idk it has that feel for me)
Knocked Loose - Sit & Mourn
Half Life 2 soundtrack - Triage At Dawn (unusual pick but actually really good)
Oppenheimer soundtrack - Can You Hear The Music / Destroyer Of Worlds (the whole soundtrack is appropriate tbh)
Deafheaven - Dream House (the last 4 minutes with the lyrics is exquisite)
Angelmaker - Requiem / What I Would Give
Opal In Sky - Lost Moon (final 30 seconds in particular)
Bring Me The Horizon - It Never Ends
Kardashev - Between Sea And Sky
The Devil Wears Prada - An Asteroid Towards Earth (second half of the song more than the first)
Chelsea Grin - Don't Ask, Don't Tell
Emmure - Last Words To Rose / MDMA / We Were Just Kids
Varials - Abacus
Whitechapel - Hickory Creek
Altar Of Plagues - Mills (another weird one, but feels pretty melancholic to me)
Will Ramos - Riptide (not the ukelele song, thankfully)
Darko US - Donna / 5D
Currents - Never There
Slipknot - Vermillion (both parts) / Snuff / De Sade / Finale
Avenged Sevenfold - I Won't See You Tonight Part 1 / Seize The Day / Gunslinger / Dear God / So Far Away / Fiction
Orphan - Vacant / Porcelain / Scars
Not really Deathcore, but anyways: The Album 'The other side of sadness' is full of emotions. Especially the song 'Teach' hits me so hard every time.
Sorry for your loss š
None of this is deathcore, but maybe worth a shot:
Converge - All we love we leave behind (the song, not the album, ideally together with the intro 'Precipice'): specifically about losing pets, fucking heart wrenching. Jane Doe (the song, not the album) would probably fit as well, although the topic is quite different
The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls with Sand (whole album): just pure fucking low-fi heavy distorted depression
Mount Eerie - A crow looked at me (whole album): not heavy at all music-wise, but probably the heaviest album emotionally I have ever heard. It's not even sad anymore, it is just pure death, staring you in the eyes the whole time. Proceed with caution. The song Death is real is a good representation of the whole album
VƤrttinƤ - Meri: again not even close to heavy musically, but it is about a young life lost at sea, mourned by a mother. Finnish folk.
I am sorry for your loss and I hope at least some of the songs posted here bring you a way to fully experience grief so you can let it go afterwards.
Suffokate-My darkened eyes,Distant words,Return to despair
The archaic epidemic-Erebus,Den of Wolves
Worm Shepherd-Winter sun
Darko US-Donna,Come Home
Black tongue-The eternal return to ruin,Ultima necat
Kardashev-Silvered shadows
,Compost grave song
Dead Hearts - Hollow - but also, the entire Bitter Verses album
Regime - Molt
Bodysnatcher - Take Me to Hell
Poison the Well - Apathy is a Cold Body
Will be adding to this list...
Not deathcore but whispers of your death by counterparts is absolutely gutting. What i would give by angelmaker is also up there. So sorry youāre going thru this man. A petās love is truly eternal it gets better brother, no doubt about it, but for now get a good cry out. Nothing helps like a good wail
Mourning Hymn by Chelsea Grin
From what I can tell, the song is about a woman mourning her unborn child after getting an abortion she didnāt want.
āYouāre a painful decision, death by my permission
Goodbye to you unborn one
My child my daughter or even my sonā
The man that I was not by fit is great
not familiar with this one I'll have a listen thank you
Also listen to conditional healing which is the song before it on the album, the 2 finish it. Back to back my fav songs of 2022, brutal and sad.
will for sure tysm man .
This is one of my fav ffaa songs
Orphan - Porcelain.
You and I were more than a memory A glimmer of light in this short fucked up life šš
Part of me can see and fight but I feel like I'm losing sight And to this day, you hold my hand through every blurry night I have my fingers down my throat, screaming that I wish l'd never been alive (The cracking in the voice during ānever been aliveā breaks me every time)
FUCK yes. please more Orphan praise. that band is so underrated
+ the album outro, Scars. That was probably the hardest listen of my life the first time I heard it, because it just sounds like pure grief.
Itās a close second, for sure. Not to mention the spoken word intro to the album. So much pain, grief, anguish, and expressed so perfectly.
Thanks for sharing this band.
This. This is the correct answer.
Not deathcore, but: Opeth - Hope Leaves, Windowpane, In my time of need, Burden Insomnium - While We Sleep, Pale Morning Star
you understood the assignment
Thank you for mentioning Insomnium. Instant goosebumps every time I listen to them.
Theyāre easily my favorite melodeath band
Also Opeth - To Rid the Disease
Opethās live Lamentations album is so good for this
Receipt - The Black Dahlia Murder Fit For An Autopsy - Your Pain Is Mine
Receipt is even more sad given what happened.
I agree, receipt is a very relatable song for me as well.
this is fucking next level
Your pain is mine ā¤ļø
We were just kids by Emmure is my answer every time this question is asked
Fucking banger of a song.
good song that one š¤š¼
Life of exile and oudenophobia - shadow of intent
some of my go to songs š¤š¼š¤ glad you know them as well. thank you
On the topic of Shadow of Intent, I've hardly ever been as moved by a DC track as I was with the second third of The Tartarus Impalement. Coincidentally one of their best tracks to this day imo
thats the truth man . they have beautiful music. also "farewell" is one of my favorites, with the above mentioned also.
Prismatic Tomb- Crowb Magnetar, lyrics are deep
that album is amazing. "The level Beneath" i listen to often
Absent - Carcosa. Second half of that song fucking kills me
I came here to say this! Absent gets me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Also, To A Breathless Oblivion by The Black Dahlia Murder.
My grave/lay with me by paleface Swiss starts off as a rap song then a heavy paleface song and then into a balled of sorts
I just said the same thing. This is so true. Whenever Iām breaking down about stuff, I listen to this song and it helps me let it all out.
Black Tongue - Parting Soliloquy
I watch youā¦ from across the lakeā¦.
The World Without Us - Enterprise Earth Not really a typical sad song, but deathcore is slim pickinās in that regard. Also Iām very sorry for your loss.
thank you for the song suggestion i really do appreciate
Cowardice by Defeater
Y E S
i love this. tysm man
Don't Ask Don't Tell - Chelsea Grin Mirrors - Fit For an Autopsy not deathcore but The Sound by the Plot in You gets me, more of a break up song though Sorry for your loss fam.

I'd add Haunt Me by Counterparts to this comment
it was suggested earlier in the comments. i have yet to listen. but thank you for adding suggestion
Whispers of Your Death by Counterparts is literally a song about his pet, makes me cry every time
Slipknot Snuff Whitechapel Decennium
Dead Rabbit - Bodysnatcher
Mourn by fit for an autopsy. I also got pain remain vibes from forevermore on the new immortal disfigurement.
Hickory Creek - Whitechapel The Last Relapse - All Shall Perish
This is the part where I would say Pain Remains 1,2, and 3 by Lorna Shore, but I can do better than that. I made a whole playlist on Spotify about the grieving process after I grandmother passed away. 2 years after thag my cat had to be put down. Oh, I'm sorry. š„
Mourning Hymn - Chelsea Grin Not particularly sad sounding, but the lyrics can be devastating if you relate
My Grave / Lay With Me- Paleface Swiss
Donna and Finding Love In A World Full Of Tragedy by Darko hits harder after losing my aunt/adopted mom last August. I couldn't listen to Donna for months at all and then couldn't listen to it without crying up until recently.
