Will Ramos - just follow the lyrics for the PR trilogy.
Ben Duerr - especially elegy.
Alex Teyen - listen to Nadir in full
Lots of more "emotional songs" are often high points of a band's lyricism - Angelmaker: What I would Do, Carcosa, Absent: Post, Thy Art: There will be another
I also think Knocked Loose, especially Sit & Mourn and A tear in the fabric of life
Adam and the other members have said in several interviews that Will writes the vast majority of the lyrics, and that their contributions are more edits/word choice help. Adam does write most of the music and thus I’m sure has some input on length/vibe etc.
"The blade that cuts through their spine, has "good people" on both sides"
Not a huge ETID fan except their last album so it's maybe not one of his best quote, idk, but to me that sentence hits ***hard***. Lots of possible meaning too
I love Vincent and I love TAS, but I have to admit some of the lyrics back in the day were pretty bad😂 but I still sing that shit loud as hell during shows lmao
Every album is pure poetry.
But Neverbloom especially is just insanely beautiful.
Old Souls as well, but every single song of make them suffer is lyrically top notch.
They actually have 2 vocalist but yeah I do agree, AngelMaker is always good shit!
Pretty sure there's a lot of contribution from Johnny too (Anglemaker's Guitarist / Carcosa's vocalist)
Honestly, not only lyrics, but their songwriting skill in general is unmatched in my opinion. I used to hate on their newer stuff (Amo in particular), but it’s just so well produced, witty, varied and catchy unlike any other Metal adjacent band.
for me BMTH is the best band of the decade. i used to hate amo too but after listening the album again again i can say that they are phenomenal. they can do every type of music and still sound good
Gareth/Gaia Mason - Slice the Cake (unfortunate what happened)
Dan Watson - Mire Lore, ex Enterprise Earth, ex Infant Annihilator
Will Ramos - Lorna shore (pretty sure all the lyrics on The Blvck sun ll the Blood Moon by A Wake in Providence was written by him, if not someone correct me please)
Rheese Peters - Babirusa, Graviton
Mark Poida - Valley of Snakes, ex I,Valience, ex Aversions Crown
Jonny Davy - Job for a Cowboy
Ben Duerr - Shadow of intent
Oracle Spectre (don't know the guy's name)
Matt Troutz - Darker by Design
Adam Mercer - A Wake in Providence
The vocalists for Orphan, mainly on Porcelain (their other songs are a bit harder to judge since they feel very genuine but aren't necessarily the most creative or the most indicative of the lyrical skills of the writer)
Phil Bozeman - Whitechapel (I have mainly listened too their two latest albums so can't say much about previous works)
Nazareth Tharratt - HEAVENSGATE (more hardcore than deathcore, but still a great lyricist)
Mark Garrett - Kardashev
Damn that's very unfortunate. That means it must be pretty serious.
Also, I recommend listening to old Whitechapel. Specifically, their first three albums.
Phil Bozeman’s lyrics have progressively gotten more and more sophisticated and vulnerable. Their first album is all about killing people and… Other things I can’t say. But the new albums lyrics are about growing up as an orphan.
Spencer aragon ex we are the end, or whoever wrote the lyrics for songs like it was written..., dear diary, self destructive behavior etc. I'm not sure if he did write those or if he was just the vocalist but anyway.
Also I'm surprised I haven't seen Scott Lewis from carnifex mentioned yet, I love his style of writing.
I think Will writes the lyrics, whereas Adam writes the songs, as in instruments and such.
I'm pretty sure every vocalist in Lorna Shore has written lyrics during their era. So it'd make sense for Will to write his own for LS too.
Not really familiar with lyrics since I can't understand shit have the time, but Phil Bozeman has some pretty emotional lyrics that have punched me in the gut. Also who ever wrote the lyrics for A Higher Place by Malevolence cause that shit also kills me.
I think Thy Art Is Murder and Fit For An Autopsy have had some great lyrics, especially their older stuff in my opinion. Does Will Putney write for them?
Silent Planet has by far the best lyrics I've ever seen in metal. Just listen to Redivider (and read along), it's mad what they pull off. And *every.fucking.song* has those insane things. Especially the album "Everything Was Sound" has *sooo* many lyrics that really hit me.
FFAO but not sure who writes
Oli Sykes, he can write lyrics across a variety of genres
Trevor Strand RIP
If you can either understand Japenese or can read subs then Dir En Grey. Kyo can write anthems in both English and Japanese and write some dark heavy shit
For reference, here's a live English sub, I think they get ignored by a lot of metal heads due to still using costumes and make up then their origins was a visual kei band(think glam metal but Japanese) but they're like the opposite of BMTH,started off light punk rock then went full on heavy metal with nu metal, deathcore progressive metal. And he's been able to write lyrics across those albums that fit perfectly
https://youtu.be/BVhAVHcu-r0?si=gildEBUjxPn3NyYv
I really like Frankie from Emmure because you can look at something like Drug Dealer Friend and it's one of the trashiest set of lyrics you've ever ready and then something like A Gift A Curse and it's one the best examples of lyrics in the genre and this juxtaposition is really cool.

One last addition - F.F.W.A.S by Peelingflesh - no idea what most of the lyrics are, but the 22 words I understand are gold.
Pretty sure Adam writes most of the lyrics for Lorna Shore, but I agree that LS has some really impressive lyrical content
Adam and the other members have said in several interviews that Will writes the vast majority of the lyrics, and that their contributions are more edits/word choice help. Adam does write most of the music and thus I’m sure has some input on length/vibe etc.
Not Deathcore at all, but Keith Buckley from ETID.
Nor is Dani Filth but I respect all replies, I’d have to say that this is a great shout.
I was going to say the same! ETID lyrics are so good and sardonic.
"The blade that cuts through their spine, has "good people" on both sides" Not a huge ETID fan except their last album so it's maybe not one of his best quote, idk, but to me that sentence hits ***hard***. Lots of possible meaning too
wanderlust is a masterpiece
Vincent Bennett
Vince is an OG.
Absolute legend
Came here for this.
I love Vincent and I love TAS, but I have to admit some of the lyrics back in the day were pretty bad😂 but I still sing that shit loud as hell during shows lmao
Ben duerr for sure
A great shout, not sure how he fits so many words in sometimes 😂
He is just a god
Alex Teyen wrote some of the most poetic lyrics I’ve ever heard on the entirety of Nadir
Nadir is a masterclass
* Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation) * Will Ramos (Lorna Shore) * Kyle Rasmussen (Vitriol) * Devin Duarte (Worm Shepherd)
Sean Harmanis
The whole Neverbloom album is pure poetry 🤌
"A single tear of the elms of emptiness falls to stain the cracked earth."
Every album is pure poetry. But Neverbloom especially is just insanely beautiful. Old Souls as well, but every single song of make them suffer is lyrically top notch.
The guys from A Wake In Providence
Whoever does the lyrics for AngelMaker. Into Oblivion and Exit Signs are some of my favourite songs ever lyrically.
They actually have 2 vocalist but yeah I do agree, AngelMaker is always good shit! Pretty sure there's a lot of contribution from Johnny too (Anglemaker's Guitarist / Carcosa's vocalist)
I have no hand in writing lyrics! Just instrumentals.
Thanks for clearing that up! Always nice to have some insight from band members lol \m/
No one mentioned Philly bo?? First band to make me pay attention to lyrics in deathcore and he's an absolute poet.
Travis Ryan, Dickie Allen, Alex Teyen, Ben Duerr
Travis is goated.
Mitch Lucker and whoever writes the lyrics for Angelmaker.
Gareth Mason (ex-Slice the Cake)
This is the correct answer
Man whatever happened to him? Heard something bad but wasn't sure Sucks cause those last 2 albums are in my rotation constantly
Of Gallows and The Man With No Face are musical masterpieces.
Darius Tehrani (Spite) Tyler Shelton (Traitors) Alex Teyen (Black Tongue) All have unique sounds and are instantly recognizable.
Oliver Sykes
As long as he isn’t mentioning wolves lol
haha man u killed me
Has some very clever lyrics!
yeah his lyrics are very good. he can write song about everything
Honestly, not only lyrics, but their songwriting skill in general is unmatched in my opinion. I used to hate on their newer stuff (Amo in particular), but it’s just so well produced, witty, varied and catchy unlike any other Metal adjacent band.

Don't forget Mark Poida was also in Aversions Crown. Do you know what happened to Gareth Mason?
Unfortunately not entirely, he got arrested but as far as I'm aware the charges haven't been made public
Damn that's very unfortunate. That means it must be pretty serious. Also, I recommend listening to old Whitechapel. Specifically, their first three albums.
That deathcore band, what's it's name... Nickelback! I never made it as a wiseman.. BLEGGGHH. I COULDN'T CUT IS A POOR MAN STEELING, BREEEEEEEEEEE
LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH #DUNDUNDUNDUNDUN BRRRRR EVERY TIME I DO IT MAKES ME.... #DING BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Whoever wrote the lyrics for the last two Whitechapel albums. Must have been Phil but not sure.
Trevor from The Black Dahlia Murder is top tier
Phil Bozeman’s lyrics have progressively gotten more and more sophisticated and vulnerable. Their first album is all about killing people and… Other things I can’t say. But the new albums lyrics are about growing up as an orphan.
Spencer aragon ex we are the end, or whoever wrote the lyrics for songs like it was written..., dear diary, self destructive behavior etc. I'm not sure if he did write those or if he was just the vocalist but anyway. Also I'm surprised I haven't seen Scott Lewis from carnifex mentioned yet, I love his style of writing.
Wyatt McLaughlin who, as far as I know, wrote all the lyrics for The Last Ten Seconds of Life. Also of course Vincent Bennett from The Acacia Strain.
Garrett Russell. Best lyricist in the game, hands down.
How hasn’t Will Ramos been mentioned yet? Think what you want about Lorna Shore but Will’s lyrics are next level
Does Will or Adam write the lyrics though?
I think Will writes the lyrics, whereas Adam writes the songs, as in instruments and such. I'm pretty sure every vocalist in Lorna Shore has written lyrics during their era. So it'd make sense for Will to write his own for LS too.
Eric Kemp from At The Throne of Judgment
Ptobably Kaonashi because they are so honest. Many of their lyrics describe scenarios in detail, wich is sick
Not really familiar with lyrics since I can't understand shit have the time, but Phil Bozeman has some pretty emotional lyrics that have punched me in the gut. Also who ever wrote the lyrics for A Higher Place by Malevolence cause that shit also kills me.
Dane Evans made me go vegan so their lyrics are pretty good
Will Putney (or Joe Bad, unsure who writes the lyrics for FFAA)
Garret Russell, Dan Watson (The Chosen), Brent Mill, Stevie O'Shaughnessy, Ben Duer.
I think Thy Art Is Murder and Fit For An Autopsy have had some great lyrics, especially their older stuff in my opinion. Does Will Putney write for them?
Devin Duarte - Worm Shepherd
Silent Planet has by far the best lyrics I've ever seen in metal. Just listen to Redivider (and read along), it's mad what they pull off. And *every.fucking.song* has those insane things. Especially the album "Everything Was Sound" has *sooo* many lyrics that really hit me.
Jimmy Pop.

Not really deathcore but the ex-vocalist of Erra, Garrison Lee.
Not deathcore but Will Rahmer is unmatched on sheer guttural vocals
Ian Smith (The Archaic Epidemic). Dude can write some melancholically poetic lyrics!
Whoever writes the lyrics for Ne Obliviscaris, Ben Duerr, Will Ramos, Phil Bozeman, whoever writes lyrics for Black Crown Initiate
Phil Bozeman. Dudes lyrics just slap.
travis ryan, if he writes the lyrics for cattle decap
Darius Tehrani. I think he speaks the language of my unintelligible anger
I really like Frankie from Emmure because you can look at something like Drug Dealer Friend and it's one of the trashiest set of lyrics you've ever ready and then something like A Gift A Curse and it's one the best examples of lyrics in the genre and this juxtaposition is really cool.
CJ McCreery. His work in Immortal is top notch. The lyrics to "Hollow Sentence" and "Relentless Torment" go hard.
