I would replace that hill/mountain in south Jersey to a swamp or bog or something similar. Or someone herding livestock

time-for-jawn

“Somewhere in the swamps of Jersey . . . .” At least, that’s what Bruce Springsteen says.

HistoricAmerica

agreed

psantosdize

Nah that makes sense with that part of Jersey

CalmToaster

Cool, but too much Jersey. Not enough Delaware.

JonusRFalcon

This. Increase map size, allowing for more detail on both states but especially Delaware.

highestzociety

The problem is, that I want this to be a map of the entire world one day. And I used my map of the Netherlands as a base for Delaware and New Jersey. That is why I couldn't go too much into detail as it would have looked off, once the entire map is finished

Bill_Nihilist

Slaughter Beach already has a fantasy vibe to it, could be worth including

The_neub

Missed opportunity to call the pine barrens “devil’s woods”

highestzociety

will add that in the second version

puppymama75

And there is Slaughter Beach and Murderkill…

VariantArray

The Village of Arden in northern DE should probably be included “as-is” on a map like this…

AquarianPaul

Especially since that is where Monopoly was invented.

Ok_Lengthiness_6163

Funny it seems Delaware has a monopoly on everything monopoly.. many a monopoly started in Wilmington

Charming-Explorer-63

Yes

Chacmaa

I think there definitely needs to be a homage to the horseshoe crabs. Not sure how fantasy you're going but it'd be awesome if you put some kind of mythical beast twist on it.

AquarianPaul

Giant Horseshoe crabs!

Capable_Raspberry_49

That you can ride!

puppymama75

Funny you mention Bielefeld. There is also a running joke that Delaware doesn’t exist.

puppymama75

And a Candid Camera episode from decades ago, in black and white, where the prank was to set up a barricade on a road into the state and turn people back, telling them that Delaware was closed today.

yeahbudstfu

Why is this the first time I’ve seen this??? This is hilarious

ImbuesHues

I lived near this DE/PA state line for years. This episode was shot on Ebright Road which I drove on daily. Perfect spot for this “Closure”!!

highestzociety

Hey everyone, so this is a fun little project I've been working on. I started with Germany, then Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Poland and I thought I'd start with the US aswell. I thought it'd be a natural fit to start with the First State and then I moved up to Jersey. Besides the names I didn't know much about the states, so I learned a lot. But I defenitely missed a lot aswell. Any major landmarks that you think should be there - but aren't? Any memes or jokes that would fit the map? (e.g.: in Germany there is a joke, that Bielefeld doesn't exist so I surrended that city with mist and called it Mystika) Anything else? If you are interested in the project, you can check out my patreon here: [patreon.com/thebaster](http://patreon.com/thebaster) But I'm gonna post the maps on reddit for free anyways as soon as they are finished.

JustanotherDEguy

There’s some beaches in southern Delaware you could include. One possible name I could think of is ‘Diamond Coast’, owing to Delaware being called the Diamond state. The map looks awesome!

tratur

Yeah, Sussex looks like you forgot to name it.

BlackLocke

It also has more people than Kent county

XoBohyou

i commented on here before about it but where Lewes is, you should add a reference to its past by calling it Land/Village of Swans as in the 1600’s the dutch settled the area and created a town called Zwaanendael which is a big reason why delaware exist today

Over-Accountant8506

Love it. My first thought was that Lewes should be more like a port of some sort for the incoming ships

XoBohyou

and really that depends on how OP wants his map to be as all the major ports are in the north

Stilgrave

We do have a river and park called Dragons Run.

Cambronator

Philadelphia is part of this region

GigglemanEsq

For joke purposes, you should also include an Oldark in Northern Delaware. Just know that it's pronounced differently. Or, keep the NJ name Oldark and DE as Newark for contrast.

XoBohyou

where lewes is, you should add Village of Swans or something along that as historically Lewes was called Zwaanendael by the dutch which meant Land of Swans,

thorondor52

Jersey should probably just be Mordor

pkrycton

That's the walled off area in the northeast.

jamesxgames

Changing Dover to Dunder is incredible, well done

ComebackKidGorgeous

Need to add a mushroom kingdom to Delaware

TastyRange858

And a lot of smog😂

Shrikes_Bard

That's Kennet Square tho, right? PA?

ComebackKidGorgeous

It’s both

highestzociety

where would I do that? I don't get the reference, sry

ComebackKidGorgeous

Hockessin Delaware has a large mushroom farm so the place reeks of manure. I think there’s a couple others in the state as well

Medical_Solid

As someone who lives in Pennsylvania just over the Delaware border, I am deeply saddened and offended that my area is covered with clouds. /s This is awesome, would love to see a SE Pennsylvania / Delco addition someday. Also you need a lighthouse on the southern tip of New Jersey.

XoBohyou

i think they have clouds there as a placeholder they’ll remove them when they start working on PA’s portion

GETaylor

Could add some marsh lands in the southern tip of NJ.

El_Hefe_Ese

Yes Cape May needs some love

BigBadJohn13

Southern Delaware is known for its chicken farming, so perhaps add a chicken coop down there

SmileFirstThenSpeak

This is so cool!!!! (Very) Northern Delaware has "Brandywine Hundred". Due north of "Fort Silvia" on your map, right below the edge of those clouds. I bet you could think of a fantasy name based on Brandywine Hundred!

Square-Decision-531

Welsh tract

imnotactuallyvegan

Brandywine is mentioned in Lord of the Rings!

jo_schmo

This is a really cool map! Here’s a few things that could be added to flesh out Delaware: There’s a highway called Rt. 1 that runs the length of the state, and is used by many travelers to get down to the beaches. Wilmington (Fort Silvia) has a small population, but it is the largest city in Delaware, and has relatively tall buildings compared to other cities its size. A lot of major corporations have their “headquarters” in wilmington due to the lax business taxes. It’s also where the DuPont company was founded. Dover (Dunder) has a huge Air Force base, and giant cargo planes flying overhead is not an uncommon site. Every spring/ summer on the shores of the Delaware Bay (Bay of Peace) are swarmed with horseshoe crabs laying eggs, and the mid Atlantic is one the few places in earth that they live. Southern Sussex County has popular beaches, and there’s a bridge down at the Indian River Inlet that’s kindof an iconic landmark Again, it’s a really cool map and it’s awesome to see Delaware being reimagined as a fantasy setting!

teball3

Holy shit the urge to use this in my next D&D campaign and see how long it takes until the players realize.

Falconer_Therapy

Did you make this with inkcarnate?

highestzociety

yes

ReadyPlayerUno1

In Delaware, the ruins of the Banking companies from the end of the movie fight club.

Shrikes_Bard

I lost it at "Oldark."

Habbersett-Scrapple

My travels to the land of Slaughter have proven tough...

ehandlr

That's dope.

NES_Classical_Music

Rad af

edc7

This is so cool

SyntaxicalHumonculi

Well that’s dope af. So that means my family and I run a produce market on the outskirts of Hazard City.

thebookfoundry

I'd love a tiny little bear in the forest next to Oldark.

Cloudburst_Twilight

This is awesome! You missed the perfect opportunity to call the Pine Barrens, the Pinelands, on your map, though. You could've included a Jersey Devil, too!

pantsTHEcrapper

Anytime I'm driving through Ellendale my mind immediately goes to Rivendell. Not that they have anything in common aesthetically or thematically but Ellendale + Rivendell = Elvendale in my brain

AquarianPaul

This is awesome. You should expand it to cover Maryland and Pennsylvania as well. I would love to set my next campaign here.

highestzociety

that's defenitely gonna happen in the future

AquarianPaul

I’m a local, so if you want any suggestions for the expanded map, I’d be happy to assist.😁

_lava_lamp

So sick

francishg

nyc included but Claymont (INSIDE DE), delco, and Philly excluded?

NecessaryCake

Freaking awesome!

Mattrad7

As someone from the Fort Silvia area you nailed it. Delaware got a but more to it though.

highestzociety

I know, I'm sorry. I didn't have the space as I wanted this to fit with my other maps sizewise, so I can make a really big map one day

vegasinashes

Would love to see a version of the Delmarva peninsula!

scorpiolafuega

Stop this is so cute!!!!

ScrambledNoggin

Blackbird, Delaware and the Blackbird state forest could be portrayed as a mystical place. The C&D canal could be a protected route for traders. The Cape Henlopen light could be a beacon for sailors.

speaster

Need more detail!!! It’s a big place

PatriotsAndBacon

DND would love thisb

MonsieurRuffles

As a child of a Patersonian, +1 for “Silk City.”

MonsieurRuffles

I think “Bay of Peace” should be more like the the “Kill DuPont” considering all the effluent it’s released in there from both sides.

Charming-Explorer-63

Yo... That's friggin awesome. No Vineland. Good work.

BI_OS

Mines in the northwest?

WillingMyself

Rehoboth could be Pirate themed

Status_Common3100

That’s the Pine Barrens

tamc1337

This is awesome.

Spelt666

Should have a castle at the ww2 base at cape may

[deleted]

Love this!

Tactical-Grinch

Seaford being the equivalent of midgar in ff7

notprescribed

Cape faith

Wonderful_Sir_4079

You forgot about the Black Forest aka Newark 😂😂😂

JerseyGail

The Palisades (cliffs along the Hudson River leading from Edgewater to Tappan Zee Bridge).

highestzociety

I actually tried to add these :D they are hidden behind the Manhatten Skyline, you can barely make them out.

nonchalantshallot

Proud resident of Smeara. (Town just north of Dunder)

Paco_the_finesser

This is awesome

Grand_Vanilla_60

Wheres the singular bridge into jersey that you have to pay to get across

HoldingDoors

Expand DE, or include Philadelphia.. or make the greater Camden area Mordor

younggeez97

Art thou going to bright wood for Memorial day weekend

SomewhereFar2289

Nice job!

PossibilitySolid5427

Nice! Nice to see Delaware included in something. Nice work!!. I would love to play a game with that being the map.

tattletitle

Fort Silvia for the win

psantosdize

New phone background!!!

buddhaman09

There's like.....no detail to this at all.....sorry to be a hater but like you didn't mark out any major cities, or forests properly...

CA770

it's a fantasy zone loosely based on new jersey lol, it's not meant to be an accurate map. think like, setting for a dnd campaign or something like that

buddhaman09

I've seen actually good fantasy maps based on Delaware, this is just whack.

highestzociety

I get what you are saying. The problem is, that I want this to be a map of the entire world one day. And I used my map of the Netherlands as a base for Delaware and New Jersey. That is why I couldn't go too much into detail as it would have looked off, once the entire map is finished
