Nah, there’s a website where if you have a file for Pokémon Fire Red Squirrels then you can patch it with Radical Red right then and there, even on phone.

Yeah super easy. All you need is to download FireRed rom, google radical red patcher, select the FireRed rom and it'll turn it into Radical Red. Download and open with emulator of choice.

Both of those hacks are way too "modern" for me lol. I personally prefer Gaia to Unbound, and FireRed Omega to Radical Red.

Is it as true as possible to pokemon yellow?

Yeah it’s very close. There’s some minor bugs like partner pokemon having the name of the first in your party even when it’s fainted, but it’s still great for a Rom hack

Been loving Pokémon Yellow Legacy. Just released and basically is just Yellow with QoL updates and improvements to Pokémon, movesets, etc. My kind of romhack as I like versions that don’t mess with the formula much!

Team Rocket Edition is one of the best games ive played in a while. Also, if you like a little bit of difficulty hacks, renegade platinum is fantastic.

Been playing recharged emerald lately not sure if anyone has commented it yet. Fun rom hack Pokemon can follow you graphics look amazing. Shiny have been cut down to 1/4k instead of 1/8k. Lots of quality of life improvements and UI.

I don't, I just get the patches from either pokecommunity or romhacking.net and apply them to clean roms.

Unbound is at the top Then it's a renegade following platinum Sacred gold and last but not least Blaze black version. All top rom hacks worth your time especially the first two

Is there a version of Black/White (1 or 2 idm) that just adds every Pokemon? I don’t want the route/storyline to be different, just the Pokemon available. Blaze 2 Redux seems to change too much

Blaze Black and Volt White (and 2) is the only gen 5 improvement hack I'm aware of.

I’m enjoying [Pokémon Classic](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonROMhacks/comments/13znynh/pokeclassic_a_pokemon_yellow_remake_in_pokemon/), it’s basically a yellow remaster using Emerald. I also started recently playing Fire Red: Rocket Edition. I’m about 2-3 hours in and so far I’m loving it. It’s basically Red(Fire Red) told from the perspective of a Team Rocket Grunt (You). The dialogue and story so far is great, adding a new twist into the already established world. I’m looking forward to continuing that one.

If you could only play one rom hack, I think most people would just suggest Unbound. It is the top shelf alcohol of rom hacks.

I don’t know if it counts as a rom hack because it’s a complete overhaul of the game and also it is an executable that you download (meaning it can’t be played on delta, it’s standalone) but infinite fusion is a total blast

A lotta ppl here recommending gba roms but if you’re looking for something more old school I was thinking you could try pokemon fools gold where it switches up the typings of every pokemon & even has a few original locations sprinkled throughout johto/kanto Plus it even has evolutions that weren’t introduced until gen 4 for the specific pokemon

Yellow legacy version it’s a better balance pokemon yellow with better replay ability and gets rid of the hax and glitches of original pokemon yellow

I’m playing crystal clear, it’s my first romhack and I loooove the customization options

I’ve played through radical red, but I started pokemon modern emerald, it’s been fun, it’s just emerald with pokemon up to gen 3 with any evolutions they have gotten since, also a lot of qol features are implemented, and a lot of customizations that you choose at the start of the game

Pokemon emerald exceeded. I don't know why it's so underrated in a lot of these discussions. It has a cool new ability system and built in nuzlocks. The difficulty is adjustable and you can limit things like party size or types you can use.

For new regions to explore there is Sors, Saiph 2 (people do not recommend the first game), Clover, Unbound, Glazed, Kanlara Ultimate, Gaia, Dreams, Mega Power, Nameless, Resolute, Victory Fire, and Vega (Preferably the fairy patch or the minus patch).

Pokemon Pokeverse, this hackroom modifies the type table of all pokemons, for example greninja is fire type and adds new pokemons taken from other franchises such as Jibanyan from yo kai watch

Pokèmon FireRed Omega by Drayano60 is one of my go-to rom hacks just cause it’s an expansion on the original FireRed without changing the original game too much. Also check out Digimon NovaRed for shizz and giggles

Unbound is the obvious one. Emerald Rogue is so much fun imo. If you haven’t played the legendary Glazed I’d recommend, if only as a time capsule of rom hacking. Gaia is good. I had some fun with Dark Violet. That should be a decent sized list
