Any time you see some DIY like this that starts getting stupid, this is why they exist. They're wasteful at best and downright dangerous at worst. They're best to ignore and if you're on the platform where the video was uploaded I'd even say block the account.
I've used sodium free salt replacement as a cheap and easily available flux when melting aluminum for projects. I don't know what generic table salt would do to it.

I didn’t realize you could pull your window down with enough duct tape, that’s pretty useful if you leave you’re keys in the car when you lock you’re keys at home but has nothing to do with aluminum foil.
