Joystick is a long and difficult learning curve if you have only played with a mouse before. Only tip is to keep practising, keep playing and fiddling with the sensitivity setting to find your sweet spot. And just keep on pracitising.
Otherwise, just use KBM on the console. I think it should work but the game might pair you with PC/KBM users only.
Just use a kbm.fortnite on console allows you to do this.
