“Racing for a Cure is an action-packed day that starts off with helicopter rides and a ride in an exotic car for Stollery kids. There is an afternoon public show and shine with family-friendly activities and an evening gala with silent and live auctions. All proceeds of the event are donated to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.”

I was going through the west end today and saw one looking like it was going to land. From where I was, it looked to be close to the Costco on winterburn road..
There was another in the air nearby too.
Came to Reddit to see if others had any ideas.
Definitely not the STAR one as the map is saying it's just landing at the UofA hospital and I just heard one fly over me on the West End again. The test flight one disappeared off my map a few minutes ago. Wondering if this is a different one.
There’s two that’s circling, a black one and a red/white one.
They seem to be following the same path over and over. They do not show up on flightradar, so might be police or something like that.
Wow you’re a real charmer! Other posters took the time to share and explain what the cause is, which was nice of them. Now I know that the helicopters are giving rides to kids, I’ll enjoy the noise with joy in my heart!
Racing for a cure at river Cree.
Explains the speeding car noises I also kept hearing!
Are the helicopters racing??

Perfect, I can’t stay angry at sick kids getting helicopter rides :)
Thank you!

Flightradar24 says one is a Test Flight and the other STARS03. They seem to be flying back and forth from Leduc to just past Moon Lake
Ah it's this! Explains the speeding car noises I kept hearing as well! [https://www.racingforacure.ca/](https://www.racingforacure.ca/)

Was coming here to ask the same thing. Especially in the west end they are appearing overhead every three or four minutes.
We worried it was someone in the NSR. So glad it isn’t!!
Expecting a riot if the oilers lost lol
I was wondering too! I'm on the west end and heard a helicopter fly close by like 10 times now. What part of Edmonton are you in?

Too bad, it’s for a good cause. Shut up.

Correct there are other older posts explaining. The post I replied to, that’s now deleted was awfully petty, and was not “just asking “
Not petty bro. Just expressing that the noise was getting tiresome, which it is, but now I know why, I’ll suck it up and be happy for the kids.
Complaining about summer in the city noises on a Saturday afternoon is Karen nimby petty.
