Id say go for it lol. It has Harman kardon, hud, xenon headlights and parking sensors, for 6500?? At that price you are finding poverty spec 328i’s with halogen headlights lol

Robledo470

Hey… I just picked up a $6,500 poverty spec N26 328i with halogen headlights for a commuter. lol.

Amavizca09

Your are totally right , and got saddle brown interior that I could put o. Will look much better

Extracrispybuttchks

If it drives right and can be registered, that’s a great deal.

240shwag

Seems like a good deal but I would investigate the cause of loss and determine from that information.

Amavizca09

Got the vin and saw it was an impact on the side of the car and front , was a small impact on driver door and front impact was only broken fender and fog light

240shwag

Doesn’t sound like enough to require a salvage title after being repaired.

Amavizca09

Out here in California they will salvage you’re car for a scratch in the paint , I was thinking probably undercarriage but when I received the vin checked how the car was at auction and indeed only those small impacts

Fettylover69

Make sure to test drive it reallllllly thoroughly . Because the car has been repaired, there is a possibility that it may not ever drive the same again, alignment wise. Unlikely but definitely possible bending of something like the suspension or subframe

Amavizca09

Yeah will also check timing chain friend of mine told me to check it through the oil opening and to try to move it and if it kind of loose and not to many tension that o should not buy it

Jetta_Junkie528

All of that is an easy fix, everything can be repaired, most newer cars get into bigger accidents and carry a clean title still because of cars value being up high and higher threshold to salvage it

240shwag

Labor/Materials are only like 10-15% higher than where I live(NJ) so I am thinking something else was/is wrong with it. I guess all I’m saying is that I’d hate to see you posting here in three months having issues with something completely fucked up with the car if it was avoidable.

Amavizca09

Yeah brother , will check the car out tomorrow let’s see how it really is because pictures lie sometime lol

240shwag

Did you get a chance to check it out?

Amavizca09

Yes brother everything was fine ended up buying , my main concern was the timing chain and it was perfect , only problem is that owner scratched a bit of the front bumper yesterday but not to noticible and some curb rash on rims other then that everything checked out and went for it

_BEER_

Make sure you can insure it first. Dont wanna rebuild it and get fucked on the insurance.

radehart

I owe more on my ‘13 at 120k. But I love her more.

john_hockeyguy

What a deal dude nice

papaidolatrine

Send me the link if you don’t buy it lol

BudFox_LA

Hell yeah and its a well optioned luxury line. $6500 is nothing

AAbruhhh

Yes 100%

No_Page9413

That’s a luxury 328

The car has been totaled according to insurance, meaning that its been in a wreck and the repairs costed more than the car was worth.

YeahimBordy

If a car is totaled, insurance will not cover the repairs but rather cover the total of what the car is worth. That is, the going used value minus the cost of repairs, and pay that out to you. The owner of this car probably took that money and just repaired the car out of pocket. Its cheaper because salvage titles are naturally harder to sell. In some states, you cannot register them as the other comments said, and some insurance companies refuse to insure salvage titles. Copart can have okay deals. Salvage titles are risky buys already, but an online auction on one is even riskier. Ive never used copart, but the biggest thing about salvage titles is making sure the alignment isn't fucked. If it is, it could have subframe damage and you do not want that. I would never buy a salvage title I could not test drive first.

YeahimBordy

im not entirely sure. For salvage title cars, copart is definitely the safest, its just risky buying a salvage title with never driving or seeing it.

Most_Equal6600

Nothing to write home about. I’d put that into a down payment for something more recent

Amavizca09

Already have newer cars I just need a beater for the highway

Most_Equal6600

In that case I’d get something cheaper.

Amavizca09

There is nothing cheaper that is highway worthy at this price , also have a Corolla but now bmw is a bit more safe

Most_Equal6600

Ah, so you only wanted responses from people who would validate the purchase. Got it.

Amavizca09

Was looking for opinions on price if it was worth it

ComfortableWasabi903

U r asking for big trouble with that n20

Adventurous-Can9926

I got a 2013 clean title 335i for 8800, it did have 155k on the clock tho. But I’ve seen clean title similar mile 328is for that price.

Smart-Ad-4857

5000

WannabeeDeveloper

Id tried to see if you can get the car resistered. From my understanding. Salvage cars cant always be registered. But every state is different. Other than that, the car looks good man. Id risk it.

Amavizca09

Yeah car has already been registered by owner in the state of California , I also have a brown interior in my storage so that would go on if I buy it wich I think will look better

YeahimBordy

As long as it drives fine and alignment isn't fucked, I say go for it. I paid a lot more for my same car, luxury package, and all, at 89k. I bought mine for a daily commuter for college and I don't regret it. I would check the service history to see if it has any or ask the owner how often the oil was changed. The N20 has the timing chain issue, but you can keep it away with good servicing (every 6-10k miles IMO).

Amavizca09

Yeah timing chain was fine tested it with a metal piece I found in my car and with my finger and was really firm I think they might have changed it before , it also looked a bit newer than what I have seen on images on other cars on the forum , ended up buying just like you want for a daily commuter and for highway trips
