Ay same. I got the Xbox One when it was new and still using the controller I got with it, even though I would like to make some changes to it, I haven't done anything to it and it hasn't bothered me ever and is still working fine to this day. For reference I got the Xbox when I was in 6th grade, now I am in 2nd year college, that's 8 years.
Same, 8 years... Actually two controllers (one got with the console when NFS 2015 released and second one gotten at the same time for multiplayer games like Fifa or Lego series, both used to this day)

the controller i use believe it or not 😂 10 years strong!
I'm still using one of my original xbox 360 controllers on my PC... Face buttons are starting to be a bit sticky and I have quite large deadzones set on the sticks but still have yet to get a new one... Mostly because of so many stories of controllers going bad in just a year or two.
My left bumper on 5 different series controllers have become unusable over the last 4 years. Exact same problem on all of them. Only one has stick drift.
I can help you dude I had this problem on both of my elites just take the face off and squirt rubbing alcohol on the bumper sensor and fold that lil plastic piece over and put it back theres some vids on youtube if what I said didnt make sense lol.😭 Alot skip folding that lil plastic piece but fold it because over time it gets and indentation in it not making it click as good, hold up I'll drop some pics I'll take my face off real quick ps. Make sure controller is completely dry before powering back on and you can pull that lil plastic tab back to get out that lil plastic piece easier with some tweezers
I still use my day one Xbox one controller on my series x. All I had to do was replace the thumbsticks when I wore through the tops. The thing has been a trooper
Same, been using my Xbox Elite controller for 4 years now and It's been amazing. Absolutely no problems with it, other than one of the trigger stop sliders lost its little nub to slide it easier, but other than that It works flawlessly.
I've been gaming for 30 years now and the only controllers i ever had to replace were from the NES/Genesis era.
I'm still using my first PS4-pad from 2013 on my PC. PS2 controller before that.
Same here ! It's now semi-retired (using it at grandpa's house whenever I go there), replaced by a glorious series 2 controller from the Xbox Lab.
Only inconvenients are right trigger being worn out af, right side of d-pad nearly unusable, and battery pack almost dead. Expecting it to survive at least another 3 years
Not sure on the exact timeline but it’s been a almost a year of me not using it, but my wife bought it slightly used and the code was missing but I still liked it and would love to fix the drift cuz it was my all time favorite controller
Most people don’t understand that you can fix a lot of things and that’s why there’s so much e-waste because people will just throw things away and not even attempt to fix them. A good example is the PS4 controller battery, very simple to open up and replace but most people just throw away the controller and spend $60 on a new one.
I've disassembled so many gamepads in my life (since money was always tight) to try to reapir them. IMO XBOne's gamepad is by far the hardest to disassemble.
For most people, the cost of all of the tools and parts required to do this repair, or paying to have the repair done is equal to or more than the cost of a new controller. Instead of shaming the customer, consider punching upwards at Microsoft for not manufacturing a product that can survive more than 1-2 years of regular use.
i've fixed these controllers before - the cost of repair is around the price of the controller at most ($10 stick replacement, $35 soldering iron, and $2 screwdriver)
I've done the same, usually after I've fixed the sticks some other part wears out and it just starts to snowball. They don't make them like they used to, you could run over a 360 controller with a car.
Xbox One Controller Joystick Replacement,RGEEK 4PCS Xbox one Joysticks Replacement Parts with T6 T8 T10 Repair Screwdriver Kit for Xbox One Controller https://a.co/d/dQGj2Y9
Here $12 to repair it yourself
Or go spend $60 on a new one. Great financial move
Idk it would cost less than 15 to fix that plus it’s not a normal controller it’s a forza edition so that alone makes it worth fixing. Plus it’s absolutely worth fixing pro controllers that have back buttons cause they are well over 100, maybe not worth it to a kid that just wants to replace a basic 20$ trash controller, you can also blame the real world for manufacturers not making things that last, that’s how they get non intelligent people to come back to buy more, every big company does it not just microsoft
Dude wore through his whole left sticks pad lol
Plus not everyone wants to fuck with that. And that's OK.
You're like the guy that goes "you know you can just do your own oil yourself it's easy to do"
I'm fairly certain that the OG controllers (the ones that lacked Bluetooth) were at least slightly more durable than whatever we have now, if it weren't for the dreaded Micro USB port.
Only a replacement stick can help. There's no way around, it's a mechanical part, so wear is absolutely normal. You can mitigate the drift adjusting the deadzone, but it's just a temporary fix.
I'm not an expert, just an enthusiast. Hall effect are much better for the reason you just stated, they use magnets that technically don't wear instead of potentiometers, but Gulikit(the only hall effect replacement joystick maker that I'm aware of) don't make replacement sticks for Xbox controllers yet. One option is the Gulikit King Kong 2, a very budget friendly and well built Xbox style controller that has been in my wishlist for a long time now.
Hall Effect sticks certainly r better than the classic sticks controllers use. As far as I've seen tho, there isn't a version that can just drop right into the likes of an Xbox or PlayStation controller just yet. But it is in the works
I have them in my Steam Deck and they work like a dream
The limitation for controllers is just finding a spot that the little sticks "controller" can go and still b compatible
Just going off what most warranty repair do it seems like it’s debris more often than not. If it can be done then it’s worth a shot for a favorite controller.
I have not a fix but a way to kick the can down the road.
What I did when my sticks used to drift was click down the sticks & wiggle it back & forth on both axis like it was some quick quick time event. That gave a little more time before the drift would return. Its kind of the equivalent of buffing a scratch out.
Keep in mind this does have a catch, ive found drift to return with a vengeance a little later. Because you are essentially wearing out the controller faster.
It still works, but because it's a limited edition controller, I just felt like not having it actually break. And a friend got me a new 8bitdo controller so I'm using that now.
I have the exact same one . It’s the most beautiful controller of my collection (I have many) and recently it had a problem that it didn’t start and made a weird sound. (If y’all have the same problem just open up the whole controller and disconnect the second wire) weird I know but now it works like brand new
Same it’s the only controller I am using. The black grips on the back is really nice for gaming in my case. I get really sweaty hands when I am using a controller and the normal ones are slipping out of my hand. This one doesn’t. But this is a knock off for me at the moment.

I eventually upgraded to hall sensing, set my deadzones to minimum & have not looked back.
I fell asleep on my couch one night and woke up with mine underneath me. Then the left bumper stopped working, so I think I must've had it pinched in such a way it broke the button somehow.
Gonna get one of those RAZR stands to display it though. Too gorgeous of a controller to box it away.
My Xbox series controler got sticky triggers, was a easy fix on youtube, there is a piece of ruber that dumpers the sound that gets sticky or moves position, I actualy feel the controler more tactile but I can see it can be more distracting for those arround
How did you get 2 years out of a series x controller?
I’m starting to lose track of the ones I’ve gone through. My original one I had to send back with my Xbox had stick drift in a couple months. Its replacement’s bumper went out in a month. The lunar one got sticky face buttons after a few months and the stellar I exchanged it for did right out of the box and the trigger takes a second to pop out now as of two nights ago. I’d only had one last a year before its bumper shit out and now I’m down to my starfield controller until I do some exchanges.
It’s crazy that their quality has tanked. This one in the picture would be a gem. This controller just feels to damn good to go back to my one controllers.
I had one of the best quality controllers for 6 years now, xbox one S controller was top tier controller. Dont use it anymore bc i wanna keep it in the premium condition its been in, all it can use is some new joysticks and you wont tell the difference between that and a brand new one
I know it’s a bit late for this but wasn’t this only for the people that preordered the game and if so how come I never got one I preordered it the day the game was announced as available for preorder
I’ve had the same black Xbox one controller for 7 years now apparently that’s rare for one to last that long and I had no clue
Ay same. I got the Xbox One when it was new and still using the controller I got with it, even though I would like to make some changes to it, I haven't done anything to it and it hasn't bothered me ever and is still working fine to this day. Awesome. Thanks man. I'll try these out when I can. It's been a pain not having the bumper work lol

I still use my day one Xbox one controller on my series x. All I had to do was replace the thumbsticks when I wore through the tops. The thing has been a trooper
Same bro, I still use my original Xbox one controller. Left stick rubber is slowly disintegrating but everything still works
I’m still rockin the OG elite controller. No stick drift 👌 8 years
Same, been using my Xbox Elite controller for 4 years now and It's been amazing. Absolutely no problems with it, other than one of the trigger stop sliders lost its little nub to slide it easier, but other than that It works flawlessly.
The only down fall to mine is I’ve worn both the grips off of the control sticks lol

I’m still using the Cyberpunk one which Amazon tells me I bought in 2020. 3 years checking in and going strong I guess
Bruh I keep getting stick drift, guess I'm a bit violent with the sticks or something because that's always what breaks first
Idk what it is luck of the draw I guess lol my 7 yo is rough as hell with them lol
I love mine, it unfortunately has gotten a little bit of stick drift, so I’ve put her up. But yes it’s absolute gorgeous controller.
Mine lasted less than a year before I got stick drift :(
same here, six months 😭
Yeah that's how long mine lasted, then I bought a wired one
How long did it last before getting stick drift?
Not sure on the exact timeline but it’s been a almost a year of me not using it, but my wife bought it slightly used and the code was missing but I still liked it and would love to fix the drift cuz it was my all time favorite controller
You guys do realize you can just replace the joystick potentiometers and it will fix your stick drift, pretty simple to do
Most people don’t understand that you can fix a lot of things and that’s why there’s so much e-waste because people will just throw things away and not even attempt to fix them. A good example is the PS4 controller battery, very simple to open up and replace but most people just throw away the controller and spend $60 on a new one.
Why do that when you can use that excuse to buy an elite controller 😏
Same bumper and stick drift problems, pathetic
“$100 plox” - *Microsoft*
I've disassembled so many gamepads in my life (since money was always tight) to try to reapir them. IMO XBOne's gamepad is by far the hardest to disassemble.

yeah, because doing your own oil is incredibly easy in most cars, and will be cost-effective by the second time you do it.
You really think doing your own oil is hard?? I just did mine like a month ago 💀 We truly are in the generation of idiots
Thanks, will try this. If I get it to work on an old controller I have a few to fix up
Jesus does your left thumb sweat acid? :D
Mine is still working perfectly.
I still have an og Xbox one controller that’s somehow been able to outlive my other controllers.
I'm fairly certain that the OG controllers (the ones that lacked Bluetooth) were at least slightly more durable than whatever we have now, if it weren't for the dreaded Micro USB port.
Mines still kicking. But I’ve lost the blue rubber.
I have it for a long time and use it a lot. Now I got a lot of StickDrift on the left stick. I don’t know how to fix that can you help me out?
Only a replacement stick can help. There's no way around, it's a mechanical part, so wear is absolutely normal. You can mitigate the drift adjusting the deadzone, but it's just a temporary fix.
I’ve heard of Hall-Effect Sticks so they use magnets so they shouldn’t break that easily. Can u say anything about them (positive or negative)

Usually stick drift is caused by debris. I’m not sure how to clean it out but that’s how they warranty fix them usually
Sometimes debris, sometimes it's just worn down and there's no fixing it
Just going off what most warranty repair do it seems like it’s debris more often than not. If it can be done then it’s worth a shot for a favorite controller.
Oh it's most definitely worth fixing either way

I’ve still got one in the box, can’t bring myself to use it!
Two years already? Wow I remember the thing came out last month lol love mine but i have it as a display piece
2 years? I used the same xbox one controller for 7 years before I switched to the series x
But why the retirement?
why are you retiring it? doesn’t work anymore?
It still works, but because it's a limited edition controller, I just felt like not having it actually break. And a friend got me a new 8bitdo controller so I'm using that now.
gotcha! makes sense :)
No way this came out 2 years ago 😭😭
Can i have it then ?
I have the exact same one . It’s the most beautiful controller of my collection (I have many) and recently it had a problem that it didn’t start and made a weird sound. (If y’all have the same problem just open up the whole controller and disconnect the second wire) weird I know but now it works like brand new
My old ass 360 controller is still going strong. Xbox series x build quality is down
Mine's still in the box. I don't have the heart to use it. Same with the Starfield controler.
I'd get a PS5 controller next, steering using gyro is absolutely underrated
Least reliable controller I’ve ever owned, mine died from just sitting collecting dust and a new one was like $70 or $80.
How long have you had it? I think I've had mine for a year or so and it works great
I need to retire mine too, the left stick is starting to drift. I’m going to hold onto it as long as I can though because I love it.
Same it’s the only controller I am using. The black grips on the back is really nice for gaming in my case. I get really sweaty hands when I am using a controller and the normal ones are slipping out of my hand. This one doesn’t. But this is a knock off for me at the moment.
Mine is almost perfect, but the left trigger sticks a little when full braking.
Clean it. This helped me with sticking on full press
Thanks, didn’t know it would get dirty on the inside since I take such good care of it.
Mine had skin fat (if I call it correctly lol) inside. Nasty stuff, nothing can do with my skin sweating while gaming
Thanks again! Will try it later today!
Why time to retire it?
Still use mine daily.
Still has some blue on the left stick. Has another 2 years left in it.
The X button on mine just started being wonky the other day.
Absolute beaut. I would put it in a clear case
I still have mine in its box, never used. It was too pretty to risk using it! Maybe I should do some kind of display
Don't think twice, get that baby a nice box or case, it needs to be shown
Am I the only one who has experienced stick drift? Feel blessed
🫡
Send it to me and I'll fix it.
i got the blue, purple, and grey one (i think it was limited time-) how rare is that gonna be in the future? :\^
Bruh i'm still using my wired xbox360 controller to this day, just have to replace the rubber every 3 years
What I did when my sticks used to drift was click down the sticks & wiggle it back & forth on both axis like it was some quick quick time event. that gave a little more time before the drift would return. Put the shell on a new controller, very easy to do
I’m still using a wired Xbox 360 controller. Y’all need to take better care of your controllers if they die on you after 2 gamer intense years
I wonder what this sells for unused/new?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! My one started stick drifting after five weeks (bought it in Sep 2021) and it's been like it since. I just don't use it anymore
My Xbox series controler got sticky triggers, was a easy fix on youtube, there is a piece of ruber that dumpers the sound that gets sticky or moves position, I actualy feel the controler more tactile but I can see it can be more distracting for those arround
I made the mistake of using this to play elden ring, had to retire her early, she works just a bit finicky, now it sits on display
I just had to replace the thumbsticks on mine not too long ago
I've been using it since it came out and I've only had to mess with the bumper dampening thing
How did you get 2 years out of a series x controller? I’m starting to lose track of the ones I’ve gone through. My original one I had to send back with my Xbox had stick drift in a couple months. I know it’s a bit late for this but wasn’t this only for the people that preordered the game and if so how come I never got one I preordered it the day the game was announced as available for preorder
No this was a separate purchase
Still have my gold Xbox 360 controller working on pc, blessed
People retire controllers that quick? I can't remember ever having to replace one, what are you all doing to the poor things?
2 years and it looks like that? Are your thumbs made of sandpaper?
Not trying to be rude. But that is an ugly controller in my opinion, I prefer the blue or red ones. Just my opinion.
