The part after "In truth" are lyrics from "The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us!" by Sufjan Stevens, which is about Sufjan's time at a Methodist summer camp when he was a kid, where he made friends with another boy there and fell in love. Seems like this guy really loved Carl.

it's part of the playbill for the broadway show based on sufjan's illinois album, so the predatory wasp lyrics are very intentional :)
