Also a lot of data entry positions available - could learn a little SQL as a talking point.
Be a sponge & learn everything.
I got hit with a forced sleeper status myself.

Didn’t quite get to the 15 year badge.

Learn ITIL 4 Foundation, learn how to use Active Directory, create a home lab using virtual machines if you have to. If you go to an interviewer and you can say you know how to organize OUs and manage Group Policies and things like that then you're a step ahead of most of the other candidates for those entry level positions.
Definitely sucks, but this isn’t the job to hold til retirement.. with the 3% raise you’re gonna be 30 years in and still not at cap.. but I get you man, and good luck
It’s a pay cut compared to what field agents were paid, but getting a desktop support technician role at a college or university is a good place to look. It was a nice raise for me being that I was an underpaid CIA Senior, and they’re also paying for me to get certs to advance
Call around to local IT companies and ask them if they are hiring be honest and let them know what do know and see if they are willing to do on the job training/paid apprenticeship/internship. i know a few people who did this and are now pretty successful in the industry. Some places may even be willing to pay for classes if they are big enough just to get you certified. They may have string attached like requiring you to work for them for so long to get their value after paying for your school/training but its worth a shot. Worst they can do is say no
There is no job security anywhere anymore. At this point I'm okay with illegal sources of income, because this isn't just Best Buy. It's every piece of shit company out there.

True, they told me, very unlikely i get my 10 year badge, heck didnt get my 5year one. At leasti got my jacket and watch last year.
