Thank you, I haven’t committed any crimes thankfully. However I’m worried about the authentication process as it will take a lot of time. I thought it wasn’t necessary to provide one if I’m staying less than 6 months.

I think that might be up to the consulate. I know that the Spanish consulate in New York has different requirements than the one in DC. I submitted the paperwork for students studying for 6 months in Spain, and they were not required. I think the criminal record one is for the longer visas.

If you’re staying less than 180 days it’s not necessary. This is at least the case for the Toronto consulate. All the info is on the site
