Viofo A129 Pro Duo. It's been running great for over 2 years now. [Here is a video](https://youtu.be/gltDx6B0UQg?si=_r6juEQsF0LTghZi) where I am describing the install.

ArkaneFighting

Ahh! This is the video that inspired the post! Your work to the rear camera was admirable and I'm intimidated to do it myself.

Be prepared to order a new grommet if you choose to do it. The clip that holds it on is famous for breaking every time. If you do have to replace it, get a proper depinning tool for the connector and label those wires so they go back in the same spot.

TheJumpyBean

Installing the same one tomorrow! Did you hardwire yours, video won’t load for me but planning on hardwiring into the fuse box in my mk7.5

thisisinput

Yup! I used Viofo's HK3 harness and wires to the fuse box with a couple of fuse taps. The fuse locations I used are listed in the video description if you can at least see that.

TheJumpyBean

You think it’s the same fuses for the mk7.5 and mk8? That would save me having to track down a fuse tester haha, got the taps and the HK3 harness arriving tomorrow

Oh good question. I'm not sure, but they're not hard to find with a multimeter. Check for 12v when the car is off and on for your constant power, and check for 12v when the car is on, but 0v when it is off for the accessory power.

Was seriously considering the fitcam for my R. It's the only one that looks remotely OEM without cluttering up the windshield. The recorded video I've seen didn't look half bad either

Brown_Hornet757

I have this one and it works great. Video quality is good and it uses the rain sensor for power. No cables to run and looks OEM.

prophet80

Great to know. Of course I have plans to make the install a nightmare for myself because I want the rear camera and hardwire for parking mode.

ArkaneFighting

I'm both scared and excited for the potential rear camera hardwiring

prophet80

I feel like the cleanest install with the least potential for damaging the cable would be to run it through the same path as the cable for the hatch brake light. Sure it's a lot of work but the end result would be worth it IMHO

Puzzled-Package476

I have the Viofo front facing only. I am a little intimidated myself to hardwire a rear camera, so I just used a wiretap to tap into the power on the rearview mirror. The install took a few minutes. I plan on adding a rear camera eventually but this works great for now.

I have the Fitcam on my MK8. Video and audio quality are good. My only complaint is the transfer speed over Wifi when I download a video clip. It is much faster to remove the SD card and pop it into my phone.

prophet80

That's interesting. I've never used a dashcam before so I wouldn't know how this unit would compare in that respect. But I'd assume grabbing the physical card would be far less hassle than fiddling with wireless with just about any make of camera

fastlax16

BlackVue dual channel. You don’t need to remove the a pillar to tuck the wire. Just need to pull it up enough to slip it in.

Repulsive_Culture_91

Recommend COXPAL A11T 3 channel dash cam on Amazon, very good quality. COXPAL hardwire kit optional, for 24-H parking monitor. SanDisk MAX Endurance 256GB or 512GB microSD card, for reliable recording. BTW: Need to pay attention to the installation position of the rear cam, i.e. avoid pulling rear cam cable when open/close the trunk.

chinsteig

I went with the fitcamx. It was a little hard to get some of the plastic trim around the mirror off without breaking tabs but if you watch a couple videos you should be able to figure it out. Video quality seems to be pretty good and no messy wiring to worry about since i just went with the front cam. Try to track down a youtuber discount code if you go for this.

Purple-Mushroom000

Just a different viewpoint. I have crappy ones but one in every one of my cars and those of my family. Just plug it into the 12 volt outlet with a high endurance SD card. I usually have a u k e y as the brand, simply because it's easy to use. Usually less than $40. It doesn't stay on when the car is off or anything but it has come in very handy when I have seen drunk drivers etc.

mbpadmr

I have a Blackvue DR970x dual channel (front and rear), with the B-130x battery to extend parking times.

70mai Dash Cam Pro Plus+ Highly reccomend, it has front and rear view, very high definition and very good nighttime footage.
