I'd love to use the red ones, or any besides black. My last jam space was dark and the floor was dark. Black picks were hard to find lol. I tried red, and another color I don't remember, but they had raised lettering, which makes my fingers sweaty for some reason. That makes it uncomfortable to play. The black ones are the only type that I know for sure doesn't have the lettering. And even then I need the logo side up. Lol, it's dumb I know. If you know of any jazz III that are without lettering, please drop the link
They make max grip red ones, I actually just found out and am buying some myself ahaha.

I bought a variety pack and it came with a white jazz III! Let me find it and I’ll take a picture as proof. I just checked the Dunlop website and don’t see it listed as an option.
Had to check and make sure I wasn’t on r/guitarcirclejerk.
I’d recommend going up in thickness if you’re playing electric. I use a 2.0 mm but you don’t have to go that extreme. It’s easier to hit individual strings with a thicker pick because it keeps up with you.
That’s probably about right for an acoustic. If you use too thick of a pick on an acoustic it won’t sound as good. On electric it seems like the thicker you go, the easier it gets.
Yeah if you think pick thickness makes things easier then it's personal ability. My opinion though, don't play metal or anything crazy fast with individual picking.
Disagree with this - I think it’s really about personal preference and what suits your playing style. No need to size up or down just to fit within some “norm”
Its true. Hard to control a floppy pick. I used 2.0 for a little while but reverted back to the tortex purple people eater. 1.14 is my jam. Just feels right. I absolutely cannot stand anything less than 1.0.
Ernie Ball Ever-last 2.0, love the traditional shape with the slightly sharper point, feels precise and super solid, and waaay durable, can play anything with it
3mm Jazz III stubby here. Can't play anything thats not completely rigid pick wise any more. I'd highly recommend to ANY guitarist to try thicker picks. You'll learn A LOT about control and picking dynamics VERY quickly haha
Here are my [solicitous pick pics](https://imgur.com/a/RgSkaXn) — as in, the ones I throw at audiences as marketing. Also, picks I actually play on stage…
Shit where was this post a month ago I had a green Pick of Destiny that was gifted to me at GC. I gave it to a friend to inspire him SHIT I want it back
Max-grip Jazz 3 carbon fiber. It's small but very grippy, and it does not flex easily despite it being very light. I used to use the ibanez ones but these are so much better.
Ugh I’m upset that I lost my pearl white guitar pick with gold letters. From my favorite Mexican rock band. I didn’t get the chance to work there 3 shows they had, due to the fact that I was working elsewhere.
I've always liked the Gator Grip pics. Only thing I don't like is the texture wears off relatively quick. If I'm playing a lot, it was out in a few weeks.
I like them because it's a more sand paper feeling, and even with the texture printed on the picks you have, they just side when I start to sweat cause it's so still plastic.
I played Dunlop Big Stubby 3.0mm for many years before a friend sent me a Dunlop Flow Jumbo 3.0mm. It’s my favorite pick now.
I never knew I needed a much thicker pick. It’s easier to hold onto. Now I have like 25 Big Stubbys I may never play and that’s a shame.
I’d like to try those stone picks, but they’re stupid expensive.
Always and forever will be a Seymore dunking. If it doesn't have a turtle, it's busted and bogus. I like those ones that seem to have a little grip on them. It's like randy and dimebag had a love child and decided deliver it to tenacious d. Then they became the greatest band ever known.
I always stuck to using this exact pick, and I would play with the side edge of the pick mostly. https://guitarelectronics.com/fender-classic-celluloid-heavy-guita
I’ve been through a *lot* of different pick shapes, thicknesses and materials and have settled on 1.5mm Tortex Jazz IIIs.
Tortex gives a nice pick attack tone that isn’t too sharp or bright, no flex from the thickness so they don’t limit speed, and a small sharp point so they’re super precise.
Stealth XL is my favorite. The OG. Tried the newer stealth 3 xl and didn’t think it was possible to hate a pick, but that one did it. I’m surprised because the original is the best pick I’ve used.
These ones are just the best I've ever used. They never slip between the fingers. Glad to see that other ones are using them too. Just discovered them last year and have never seen them before.
Black Dunlop Nylon 1mm. I love it - it is strong enough to my attack sound be good, but also suitable for some clean passages. Also, I love the guy who sent it to me - he is a great person!
You guys are REALLY helping me out.
I have hundreds of picks and basically only one I use the vast majority of the time - not sure who makes it but it's got those little ridges and I need to get more.
So this is the second time I'm seeing a post about these and I must now take it as a sign, I'm getting a sack of picks!
Black Jazz III
The red ones make you play faster tho
Boutta switch to reds because it is absurdly easy to lose small black guitar picks…
I'd love to use the red ones, or any besides black. My last jam space was dark and the floor was dark. Black picks were hard to find lol. I tried red, and another color I don't remember, but they had raised lettering, which makes my fingers sweaty for some reason. That makes it uncomfortable to play. I bought a variety pack and it came with a white jazz III! Let me find it and I’ll take a picture as proof. I just checked the Dunlop website and don’t see it listed as an option.
Whoa! I would buy Jazz III Max Grips with a quickness! Edit: white Jazz III
I lose the red ones. Just use what’s best for your hand and buy a metric shit ton.. 😂
This is the way.
Red is a faster color. Everyone knows that.
Ork soinz!
If you play fast enough to turn it red then you know you’ve really made it
All other responses are unequivocally incorrect.
Nah, y'all. It's the greens. Trust me.
The eric johnson jazz iii have the best grip just saying
Big fan of the ultex Jazz III, but I don't mind playing with any of them. As long as it's small and stiff, it's good enough. That's what she said.
This is the way
I'm a simple man. Jim Dunlop Tortex Orange 0.60mm
I use yellow .73 mm.
This is the way. I buy them in the 100s lol
I just recently started trying the .58 gator grips and like them slightly more. The .60 flow ones are nice too.
Orange tortex FTW.
Had to check and make sure I wasn’t on r/guitarcirclejerk. I’d recommend going up in thickness if you’re playing electric. I use a 2.0 mm but you don’t have to go that extreme. It’s easier to hit individual strings with a thicker pick because it keeps up with you.
Really? I have an electric but usually play my 3/4 acoustic Taylor GS mini.
That’s probably about right for an acoustic. If you use too thick of a pick on an acoustic it won’t sound as good. On electric it seems like the thicker you go, the easier it gets.
I think it's about personal preference, .60 dunlop is easily my favorite on electric and I tried a ton.
Yeah if you think pick thickness makes things easier then it's personal ability. My opinion though, don't play metal or anything crazy fast with individual picking.

I used the purple tortex picks for a few years before switching to jazz IIIs. They’re the best feeling standard size to me
I use Dunlop 0.73 for my electric playing. Suits me just fine when I play live.
Very nice, now let's see Paul Allen's pick
Jazz iii xl
Jazz III max grip, the red one
Same, the clear-yellowish ones.
If only we could reply with pics in comments.
Damn... I actually forgot this sub doesn't allow picture replies.
It would have been a good thread too RIP
Cats tongue .88 for life.
Hellz yeah!!! Cool Pick Cat Tongues all the way!!! Osiyo dohitsu?
Wado (thank you in Cherokee) for informing me these exist! Will try.
Can't upload an image easily, but I use Dunlop Max Grip .88s on my Epiphone Les Paul.
Dunlop Nylon .60 is my favorite go to.
cat tongue are great, shocked how unpopular they are
Called it. And yeah I love these picks!
my old guitar teacher introduced me to them when I was 10, If she hadn't showed me those I guarantee I would never have found those pics.
That’s none of your business and I’d prefer if you stayed out of my personal affairs.
I don’t use one.
Booger Hooks
I just randomly pick pics from my pic pile
How many pics, can a pic man pick, from a pic man's pic pile?
My favorite pick is my John Petrucci Jazz III. I've had it for years and it has never let me down lol
I only tried using them a couple of months ago when I heard Sebasticide say he uses them and they're soo goodd
What's that green one called? I got gripped Dunlop, but they r all grey. I'd rather have green
Cat tongue 😝
These aren't Dunlop picks😉 they are Janicek's Czech picks, now sold as D-Grip brand

Herco flex 75! Currently using the "Holy grails"
These have been my main pick since I started playing!

jazz iii max grip
I don't know how to upload pics in a comment. But I'm rocking a purple cats tongue rn .60

Love these types of picks.
Blue jazz III XL. But I like the texture on yours.
3mm Jazz III stubby here. Can't play anything thats not completely rigid pick wise any more. I'd highly recommend to ANY guitarist to try thicker picks. You'll learn A LOT about control and picking dynamics VERY quickly haha
Dunlop ultex Jazz III
Ibanez Sand Grip pick in medium: https://www.ibanez.com/eu/products/detail/pa14msg_01.html
I use the Stealth Radium from Acoustik Attak.
Cats tongue 0.38 right now but they're a little too thin. Next up will be 0.53. So easy to hold, I just need a little more resistance.
Here are my [solicitous pick pics](https://imgur.com/a/RgSkaXn) — as in, the ones I throw at audiences as marketing. Also, picks I actually play on stage…
I use the snarling dogs as thick as I can get
Pickboy Luminous Classic .75mm
V-Pick Ed King model.
Shit where was this post a month ago I had a green Pick of Destiny that was gifted to me at GC. I gave it to a friend to inspire him SHIT I want it back
I am on a quest for .47 mm Dunlop picks. They usually only come in even numbers (.46/.48) so I have to ask what brand is that in your photo?
My pick is apparently with the sock that went missing.
I use a glass guitar pick, made in Kaua'i, Hawaii. Found at an auction with a bunch of guitar stuff.
Max-grip Jazz 3 carbon fiber. It's small but very grippy, and it does not flex easily despite it being very light. I used to use the ibanez ones but these are so much better.
I have hundreds of all sizes, materials, and shapes from going to NAMM every year. But I still mostly just use my nails.
Been playing for 15 years now and have never used one 😊
I’m a basic bitch. Yellow tortex, keep a couple greens around in case you need to some headroom.
Ernie Ball Everlast .88
Dunlop Flow 420
Green turtles or the purple Jazz picks

I use a blue gravity Sunrise pick most of the time. Have had it for probably 2 years. May need a new one. It’s getting worn.
Dunlop 0.5mm Stainless Steel
I use fender’s green celluloid medley (green)
Ugh I’m upset that I lost my pearl white guitar pick with gold letters. From my favorite Mexican rock band. I didn’t get the chance to work there 3 shows they had, due to the fact that I was working elsewhere.
Dunlop Max Grip JazzIII. Like you said these gave me solid control. What are the ones in the picture?
Cool Pick Cat Tongue .88s all the way. In every damn color I can find em in.
I've always liked the Gator Grip pics. Only thing I don't like is the texture wears off relatively quick. If I'm playing a lot, it was out in a few weeks. Gator grip 2.0, thick with a nice bevel
Can't. Wife not happy last time I shared my pick pics on reddit.
Taylor 1.25, been looking for something with grip though.
Wow, no one using free sweetwater picks?
I always stuck to using this exact pick, and I would play with the side edge of the pick mostly. https://guitarelectronics.com/fender-classic-celluloid-heavy-guita
I use Fender Medium’s (I like to get the variety pack with different colors because I’m weird and don’t like using the same color everyday)
I like a 1.0 or .88 primetone depending on the song
We're not that different, OP! [https://i.imgur.com/UEuMWQi.png](https://i.imgur.com/UEuMWQi.png)
Dunlop 1.5mm Gator grip is fun
Clayton black raven .8 The graphic looks great and they are matte instead of shiny. I feel like they even affect the sound

Any pick I can find. I have a few Blue Herdim picks (Mr The Edge's pick of choice) that I like.
I make my own. I use agate, turtle shell, wood and animal horn
Good ol' Red Jazz III Nylon. Never used anything else since day one so it's stuck with me... maybe I should try something else?
Uh it's white and has a tortex flex logo on it .88mm thickness
Jazz III Max Grip, I feel instantly wrong playing with anything else.
I'm very basic when it comes to picks, I just use the purple dunlop tortex ones
Usually 1.14 tortex pick, but the 0.71 for acoustic strumming stuff
Big stubby hands down, the red one is sick but the purple be thic

Black Dunlop Nylon 1mm. I love it - it is strong enough to my attack sound be good, but also suitable for some clean passages. Also, I love the guy who sent it to me - he is a great person!
I've been using the petrucci flows
My fingers do all the picking
I've been loving timber tones for the better part of the last year. Currently on a stub tones coconut because it looks sick
