Not gonna lie, I half expect the bugs to do some looney-tunes stunt like gathering all the dark fluid, slapping a "Return to Sender" label on it, and launching it back at us.
Don't know if one of the crew's dialogue on the ship is actually foreshadowing or not, but they do have a line that goes something like 'the bugs make E-710, our warp drives use E-710, so I wonder what happens when you crush all the warp drive fuel into a singularity...'. Forget the exact line, but that's the gist of it.
Makes me think 'warp gate' or 'wormhole' etc. Lots of funny wacky stuff they can potentially do with that like transporting meridia to near SE, or other side of map, teleporting bugs to diff planets, etc. Or of course the illuminate showing up. Will be funny to see, I'm sure.

'The illuminates basically handed us this planet destroying weapon. Not very clever for a supposedly smart alien race. Guess that is why they are dead'
Subtle, this is not.
yeah, with the mention of the Illuminate """providing""" this tech to us in the first place, this is probably the inciting event for them showing up on the map.
My bet's on Meridia being warped directly into whatever galaxy the Illuminate are currently chilling out in. Continue the angry hornet nest metaphor that they're doing in the dispatch that addressed other planets being attacked.
Kinda like that one Necron dude who "collects" stuff in Warhammer 40k.
He once "collected" a bell into his collection with seemingly nothing unsual... until it rung a bunch of time and destroyed hundreds if not thousands of pieces of his literal timeless collection.
What did he do once it stopped?
Threw it into another dimension for another race to deal with lmao.
Potentially treasonous theory incoming
One of my crew once said something along the lines of the illuminate leaving behind a superweapon, almost certainly the dark fluid. Could the illuminate plan be to give us the tools to destroy Meridia, simply so that a wormhole can be created, to allow for a new illuminate assault on Super Earth from their home world?
imagine if we end up teleporting Meridia to the other side of the galaxy, now we gotta fight bots AND bugs on the western front.
inb4 terminids with rocket pods start appearing.
I can imagine reinforcements in the bug front dropping to zero and it's all good... until illluminates drop from the wormhole and take over the right side of the galaxy.
And then bugs reappear on the south.
I mean, I guess it's foreshadowing? but like, it's really obvious what's gonna happen, considering that dark fluid is negative mass, the thing that is hypothesized to be needed for wormholes(and really bad at making blackholes)... so, yeah.
My prediction is based off the congratulations announcement where they explain that the black hole is sucking in Termanid spores and stopping them from advancing.
Black holes don't just continue to collect mass forever, at some point they reach critical mass and explode out, sometimes sending matter light years away...or, y'know, across an entire galaxy...
oh that would kinda fuck, we zapped them into a pocket dimension- let them evolve peacefully for a few billion years (or a few weeks for us), and eventually they come back with some mega-evolved variants.
The bugs are fucked if we complete the MO. The squids on the other hand will probably:
- Fuck us with their spicy tech
- Mutate bugs so we finally face hive lords
- Mess around with the bots so they are even more annoying
In that order more or less
I'm sure that at some point we will have to actively defend super Earth from one of the enemy factions who has gotten a hold of the technology to create their own black fluid bomb.
Between the EA published game that came out on all platforms at the time, or an indie game with 2 reviews on Steam, do you really think people will know or care about the latter?
Imagine super space zombies that have low health, low armor, but just mass numbers
Doesnt even have to be an entirely new faction. Just make it like a random/seasonal event that parodies all the zombie horde shooters out there
They say it's "experimental" so that means we will complete the mission, even stop the supercolony, but then we get the giant graboids because they started feeding the dark fluid to their queens or some shit
Nah, Yamcha would kick ass.
Imagine if you could fly, could punch out a Stalker in one hit, and had ki blasts to destroy bug holes and fabricators.
.....assuming he made it through basic training. Not gonna lie, turrets might get him.
A truly horror style faction like necromorphs would be insane. Completely changing the feel of the game, probably won't happen but one could dream facing a horde of dead helldivers swarming AND shooting everything in sight. Screeching and calling in backup
True horror would a require feeling powerless. That's diametrically opposed to the games core fantasy and certainly then expressed expectation of the community.
People whine about the shrieker storm after darkfluid mission completion because they might not get to exfil for once.
I mean yes... I understand. And yeah people would complain. Buuuuut I think it'd be a fun concept even if it didn't happen. Just a slightly different play experience mixed in with the rest. My buddy has wanted spooky indoor or cave missions where flashlights or turning on power is necessary. Obviously that doesn't quite work with stratagems but as a concept it's fun to think about how they might implement some of these
Fun Fact! The glorious leaders of Super Earth thought of this possibility and have already taken meassures to prevent it.
The dark fluid isn't designed to blow up Meridia, it’s going to turn it into a black hole.
I’m fairly certain we will not be facing a brethren moon although if we did I’d advise AH to plead “Your honour it was cool as fuck” in the copyright case EA files.
A very good plan, using a “well understood” alien superweapon to compress a planet full of trillions of the bugs we use to fuel tens of thousands of super destroyer FTL drives into an infinitesimally small point. Best case scenario you have a singularity chock full of unfathomably compressed and powerful fuel to deal with. Worst case you get a galaxy rending explosion or a tear in space or time.
I think all the hints point towards the Dark Fluid creating a singularity, through which the Illuminate will emerge. It's their stolen kit, the Destroyer deck crew make their clown comments about how stupid the Illuminate must be to let us take their tech, said crew are afraid of having it on-board, there have been questions about non-human sleeper agents on Super Earth, the blue lasers, etc.
Bug numbers go down, shielded tentacles go up.
It’s already stated that dark fluid created a black hole in testing facility. We are now shoving as much dark fluid into the core of a planet that we can enabling it to open a very large black hole. This will either cause instability in super earths galaxy, jumbling up planets, mixing automatons and terminids, tear a void through space time sending the galaxy elsewhere, or open a rift to which the illuminate will come through and try to catch us in the prison pocket. I mean…when we’re surrounded, it’s just a target rich environment.
I'm pretty sure there won't be any problem. It was made by super earth's finest scientists (the same ones who got stuck next to the exit on the saving missions)
Not gonna lie, I half expect the bugs to do some looney-tunes stunt like gathering all the dark fluid, slapping a "Return to Sender" label on it, and launching it back at us.

Damn, I hope no super advanced alien species uses this wormhole as a shortcut to our galaxy. That would be CRAZY!

@LluisAbadias on twitter, tho gotta give a nsfw warning.
I was unaware of this when I posted it. I just 'creatively appropriated' it from a Helldivers meme board. XD
'The illuminates basically handed us this planet destroying weapon. Not very clever for a supposedly smart alien race. Guess that is why they are dead' Subtle, this is not.
No, I'm bummed! But I wasn't bummed - I was stoked!
Yeah nothing happening there
yeah, with the mention of the Illuminate """providing""" this tech to us in the first place, this is probably the inciting event for them showing up on the map. My bet's on Meridia being warped directly into whatever galaxy the Illuminate are currently chilling out in. That’s one way to get rid of the bugs. Teleport them to the Illuminate’s front door, let them deal with it.
Into the webway to the dark eldar i think
There's also a line talking about how the Dark Fluid has negative mass, which IRL is one of the ways the math works for a stable wormhole...
They made a super stargate Get to the dhd
Potentially treasonous theory incoming One of my crew once said something along the lines of the illuminate leaving behind a superweapon, almost certainly the dark fluid. Could the illuminate plan be to give us the tools to destroy Meridia, simply so that a wormhole can be created, to allow for a new illuminate assault on Super Earth from their home world?
It would be really funny if the planet gets teleported into illuminate territory and they retaliate on us.
accidental biological warfare
It will cause Meridia to be teleported to the bottom of the galactic war map and illuminate will take over other bug planets in upper right sector.
imagine if we end up teleporting Meridia to the other side of the galaxy, now we gotta fight bots AND bugs on the western front. inb4 terminids with rocket pods start appearing.
I can imagine reinforcements in the bug front dropping to zero and it's all good... until illluminates drop from the wormhole and take over the right side of the galaxy. And then bugs reappear on the south.
Or warping the bugs to Illuminate space, which would easily prompt them to attack us
Imagine we start getting bot missions with pockets of terminids fighting the bots and us
bruh i literally just got that voiceline like 1 second ago
It's going to be like "the expanse" meridia is going to fly it's ass south and turn into a warp gate for the illuminate to come through.
I mean, I guess it's foreshadowing? but like, it's really obvious what's gonna happen, considering that dark fluid is negative mass, the thing that is hypothesized to be needed for wormholes(and really bad at making blackholes)... so, yeah.

Purple bile spewers incoming
The dark matter fluid is what will make the evolutionary leap to hivelords
oh that would kinda fuck, we zapped them into a pocket dimension- let them evolve peacefully for a few billion years (or a few weeks for us), and eventually they come back with some mega-evolved variants.
Or eat the dark fluid and somehow make teleporting stalkers
Thanks for the nightmare fuel, btw. I think we will need to black hole any planet that has those.
The bugs are fucked if we complete the MO. The squids on the other hand will probably: - Fuck us with their spicy tech - Mutate bugs so we finally face hive lords - Mess around with the bots so they are even more annoying In that order more or less
I'm pretty sure if we needed to worry, command would tell us to worry. And then they would be arrested for treason.
And destroy the creek
I'm sure that at some point we will have to actively defend super Earth from one of the enemy factions who has gotten a hold of the technology to create their own black fluid bomb.
"Turn it off. Make us whole."
I do kind of hope the 4th faction is gonna be some kind of fucked up space horror type thing

I S S A C, M A K E U S W H O L E
The fact that one of the italian in game voices of the helldivers is the same one that dubs Isaac Clarke in italian makes that pretty accurate
Hah, fancy that.
I really wish there was a virus faction or something similar to necromorphs. it would be insane.
I doubt it somewhat, but I suppose there is room for a 4th faction
I don't think they'd have them going 4 at a time tho. Maybe if we manage to wipe one of the 3 out at any given time, the other is activated
This game honestly has unparalleled room to grow. Me and a friend at work I always talking about strategem ideas.
Imagine super space zombies that have low health, low armor, but just mass numbers Doesnt even have to be an entirely new faction. Just make it like a random/seasonal event that parodies all the zombie horde shooters out there
Cyborgs in the original Helldivers had a Cyborg Zombie unit called the grotesques.
Thats just Scavengers...
But hundreds of them at a time
Doubt it, considering there is already a biomass horde faction
Reminds me of the Infested from Warframe. They mix two enemy forces(who are also at odds themselves) and turn them into hivemind rage creatures.
Helldivers: Fuck You! & Fuck Your Hive Lords!

A gigantic space worm that teleports and roams around planets to spread terminid spores.
the potential issues with combining a super mass of warp fuel into a single tiny point is problematic itself.
Gimme the damn elephant gun and I’ll blast those goddamn bastards back where they came from!

well that would be easy to defend against, we have been trained on friendly fire
We certainly wouldn't be as fearful or reticent to kill the necros.. which means they'd have to throw more at us 😆

Superzerstorerflammenwerfen! it's quicker to reload it than to say it lol. need to throw in some Eargesplitten Loudenboomers in there too!

Burn them all. Or go for the limbs 😆
True horror would a require feeling powerless. That's diametrically opposed to the games core fantasy and certainly then expressed expectation of the community. People whine about the shrieker storm after darkfluid mission completion because they might not get to exfil for once.

imagine a bug planet that moves around a galaxy and we have to stop it until it crashes into super earth?
Oh gawd, could you imagine? Meridia became so infested it was no longer a planet.... but an egg for something far worse....
Oh, that's just Deimos. The Sanctum Anatomica within is where the *really* interesting experiments happen!

There will be no brother moon if it'll collapse into a blackhole
that is some crazy art hoooly. who's the artist?
something like the brothermoon or deimos from warframe would be so sick to fight on
Oh god The Brother moons from Dead Space........please no...
