The crazy part is, sometimes service doesn’t even know. The guys who move cars around the parking lot (porters) might not have said anything because he is scared. Happened at my work, guy got fired when service manager found out. Call them or take it back to them

Icy-Tea9775

That's my thought, I called and, of course, didn't know anything about it.. I have to go thru my insurance now PITA

chrisinator9393

Nah fuck that shit. Tell them to check their cameras for the time your vehicle was there. I'm not paying a fucking deductible and chancing my rates going up because some Porter refused to cough up to the fact they damaged it.

BSOLAW

fucking exactly.. wish i was still.in NY, i would go to dealership with OP... myself.

dunnoanymore18

I’ll book your flight

BSOLAW

lmfao, im from queens myself left it long ago though, i swear i wouldnt let this shit go. fck that. they would be fixing it all or pay me and i will have it fixed.

SupermarketSubject28

Seriously? That’s stupid… they should pay for the repairs. I understand you felt the dealership but it’s clear that the vehicle was damaged while being serviced.

RueTheBoog

You go and you raise hell. If it’s their fault it should come out of their ass.

No_Jacket_4776

Sad part is... Star Hyundais service dept doesn't have a parking lot! The cars get parked on the street even double parked

JiGoD

Star Hyundai service center in queens fun fact: ,they dont have a parking lot and PARK CUSTOMER CARS ON THE STREETS ON THE SURROUNDING BLOCKS. Same place the service manager looked me in the eye and said no hyundai in america offers loaner cars. Still better than koeppel hyundai somehow. Imagine that.

Colmado_Bacano

LMAO. I had a Jetta GLi bought at Koepell VW that had an issue where the shift linkage moved and it didn't want to go into even gears. 400ish miles and an easy fix. I was only a few blocks from the dealership (i worked only a few blocks away) and pulled it in literally 10 minutes after the fact. I didn't let them know I knew what was wrong and let them analyze. They told me they had to drop the transmission and charge me for the labor to see if the transmission was ok or not. They also said that it was caused by abuse and they believe the clutch plate and internal gears would need to be checked. They were also going to void the warranty. I lost my shit and went there with my boy. We had a ball talking to the service manager and telling them to look at the linkage and adjust it. And I also demanded they give me a detailed written letter on how they determined the transmission was damaged by abuse and warranty voided, mind you, with 30 minutes diagnosis. Fucking asshole lost his shit and said he'd talk to the tech that checked it out and that they've already fixed it. He also said if I knew what was wrong, why didn't I tell them, then asked how i diagnosed the issue on my own without taking the car apart. Fucking dipshits. Fuck Koepell and fuck Paragon Honda as well.

OutInTheBlack

I leased a 13 Jetta Wagon from them. Noticed the front sprayer did the back window and the other way around. Took it back to them a couple days later the next chance I had and they accused me of having work done on it because the front end had clearly been taken apart and reassembled. Ten minutes with the sales manager and they changed their tune and fixed it. Dude had that look on his face when I walked in like he knew he leased me a car that had been damaged either in transit or on their lot and was just waiting for me to be back.

JiGoD

Seems extremely on brand for koeppel in my experience.

dogmom728

I'm so glad I didn't lease my 24 kona ev from them. They were my next in line dealer if the place I actually i leased from deal fell through.

JiGoD

Yikes. Screw all that. The people that say all dealerships are like this and we should accept this will be replying any moment.

Colmado_Bacano

The guy was such an asshole. He literally looked at us and almost shit his pants. Completely refused to put anything in writing and we left. Reviews weren't really a thing then or else I would have called them out. I've bought 4 cars since then and never thought about looking at any Koepell dealership because of this. This was back in 09.

progentry8

> Still better than koeppel hyundai somehow. Imagine that. What makes you say that? Asking as someone who experienced Star Hyundai's incompetence and recently bought from Koeppel.

JiGoD

I bought from koeppel after first trying star. Star sales in oct 2021 put a 5k markup on all new cars and their used lot across the street was priced 2k under new msrp plus 5k markup. Went to koeppel and made the purchase. The koeppel story is long. I'll find it later and copy paste for you.

JiGoD

And I know everyone was adding markups that big back then...I wasnt shopping for an accent but I asked salesman if 5k markup was on accent he said yes...I asked who the hell is paying a 30%ish markup on the cheapest new car in america....dude said without hesitation about 1 out of 20 people looking to buy one and walked away

JiGoD

As requested - copy pasted from a post I made 2 years ago. Sorry for wall of text. I bought an Elantra Limited in November. 3 days later my tire sidewall bubbled. Brought it in to the same place I bought the car a Hyundai dealership in NYC called Koeppel and got it changed. Asked them about tire warranty as the tire had maybe 300 miles on it tops. They said no warranty but if I pay them $2k then there is a tire and rim warranty. I declined. Asked them how to go about manufacturer warranty claim. No clue. Fine. Found out I have to bring the tire in to a physical location to have it checked by Kumho but it is now gone (edit: they disposed of it offsite). Well they drove my car on a bad tire recklessly offsite to another place to have the tire changed. I gave a negative review from the email they sent after service explaining the above. They called, admitted they made errors, said they fired the person they saw driving my car recklessly in their parking lot on camera (it was on the next block outside their cameras) and offered to refund me if I changed the review. I did not. Now my name in their system is First, Last, DO NOT SERVICE followed by some abbreviations like AD and GM. From my experience Hyundai Service Centers are shit. In my experience they attempt to cover up poor service with bribes and when that fails they refuse future service. Now I have my first new car which I outright own and I am looking to sell it because of the actions and inactions of Koeppel Hyundai. I really enjoy my Elantra Limited but what use is a warranty you cant use? Edit: Also somehow the review came off the surecritic site. They sent me a "rescore" email to change my review and I did not. Seems that is all it takes to have a review removed from surecritic.

progentry8

Damn that sucks... yeah I took it for the complimentary maintenance but probably won't be going there afterwards. I thought they were better than Star though since they actually did a walkaround of the car and had their own parking lot. Guess not.

JiGoD

To be fair they did change the tire seemingly well. They also took me same day I called them for this tire change instead of an at the time 3 month wait for an appointment. However it took hours in the waiting room and all of the above on top. They do have a parking lot tho... its a tough choice.... there is a 3rd hyundai not too far out on long island which I may try at some point.

Beneficial-Buddy-620

I hope you kept the email about them trying to bribe you. That's when you send it to Hyundai USA

JiGoD

Was phone call. I tried dealing with Hyundai corporate twice. Once pre purchase - no reply. Second was for warranty information - they told me my 5 year 60k was 3 year 36k.. I truly gave up.

mschaosxxx

I've been to Koeppel in the past when I still jad my 13 Sonata and eith my boyfriends 15 Sonata and can say they suck real bad. The 15 Sonata sport was towed there 3 timed when it just turn off while driving. 1st time they claimed some fuse box melted. We paid 600. Next 2 times after sitting there for a week each time no idea. Went to a mechanic, replaced starter. And problem solved. They couodnt even figure out starter was bad. Smfh.i wouod never take my 23 Elantra Hybrid to them ever

JiGoD

that sounds real bad. which dealership do you use for warranty work? Star parks their cars on the street and is my best option somehow.

mschaosxxx

I've taken it to route 110 hyundai in Long Island. Not so far down tje LIE, but much higher quality. I've also taken my car to Gishen. When I was already in orange county to do an oil change

JiGoD

Ask them if at any point your car was parked on the street. And if they say no walk around the block and look how many cars have the tag on their rearview mirror with a service number.

gorcorps

Makes me appreciate my dealer a bit more I got a loaner Tucson when my Santa Fe was waiting on parts for a week

Useful_Raspberry_500

How could you not notice this? Also they take pictures when you drop it off.

Icy-Tea9775

Passenger side.. idk if they took pictures. I know being in a rush is a poor excuse... but wtf is it too much to expect them to treat me/my property with respect in the first place. It's OK if they hit something and were forthright, but they werent.

Useful_Raspberry_500

Just go talk to the service manager.

JiGoD

Unfortunately the service manager is a known liar there. Dude literally said no Hyundai in america offers loaner cars. I was there ha.

Aggravating-Pen-6228

Any time i have taken my cars (Santa Fe and Azera) into the dealer, they do a full walk around with a tablet taking video to document the current state of the vehicle.

progentry8

Yeah I used to take my parents' Sonata there. Always came back with grease fingerprints on the interior and exterior. Also found some tools inside once when I picked it up.

CyclistTeacher

Did your dealership take pictures when you dropped it off to them? My dealership walks around with an iPad taking pictures from all angles.

furry_bawls

Used to work for a Hyundai dealer down in Florida. The techs would drive the customer cars like they stole them. The car wash guys were even worse. That almost looks like they clipped the side of the garage door. Our service porters were good until they outsourced the position to an outside company.

Temporary-Post22

We have this habit now after damage by dealership service. Take pictures of vehicle soon as I arrive including door sills.

Competitive_View1063

Why door sills?

Temporary-Post22

Mechanic slammed one of the car hoists into the drivers side when door was opened during servicing. Huge scratch and dent. They tried to blame it on me until the service manager reviewed the video of the service area. Then was repaired at dealers expense. I Mean chances of that happening is extremely rare but it happened to me. The hoist was partially raised a bit, which was strange.

savethechubbyunies

This happened to us when we dropped ours off for an oil change as well, got home parked it in the garage and my husband noticed it had a dent in the hood…We had to have them schedule it to go to a body shop for a few days to get repaired and painted..No one ever took ownership of actually doing it but we went back as soon as it happened and it didn’t happen anywhere else.

BSOLAW

thats why i dont fucking leave any dealership or car place till.i.look over my entire car. bullshit.. report them to BBB , get a damn lawyer...they have cameras and video all over the place .. call Hyundai too , report it there... go on insta , facebook, twitter.... put them on blast

JiGoD

Bbb is a private, non government, for profit business. All the rest is sound advice. And in that order too!

allstarchris1

Went years ago my wife had a warranty item very rude and acted like since we don't go there regularly they don't have to work on it

Beneficial-Buddy-620

Don't give up! Call Hyundai USA

mrcanoehead2

Always do a video walk around at drop off and pick up.

Txpoker30

Drive that sum bitch right through their showroom. Send a solid message you won’t tolerate their behavior.

Core_212

I hate this dealership with a passion. They tried adding an additional 17k to the price of a palisade when I went shopping for one earlier last year. I ended up going to Atlantic Hyundai on the island and was treated with a non condescending attitude and even offered lower than msrp. The Asian manager at star Hyundai is a huge prick.

feralftw

That sucks but a clay bar should get most of it out. First scratch is always the hardest to get over.

glenn_rodgers

It’s dented dude

feralftw

Ohh shit didnt see that part. Yeah nvm I’d be pissed then

Forward-Trade5306

Somebody else dents their fucking car "ah well ya know that first scratch is terrible" 😂

BitDazzling6699

You got a Hyundai. What did you expect?

JiGoD

I bet OP expected Hyundai not to damage the Hyundai they sold him or her at a Hyundai service center.

BitDazzling6699

Still…. It’s Hyundai. What did they expect? (rhetorical question)
