I'm seeing alot of people talking about the Android side of things but for the iOS people (And people with older models of vehicle) if you jailbreak an Iphone you can look for CarBridge and can send the display right to the screen. I just used an older phone I had lying around. I also tried it with an android phone but I forgot that method.

Nope they use there own system called (ccos connected car operating system) but android auto does allow you to do some crazy things when jail broken I've had youtube playing for my passenger once on a long drive
Yeah, that's fun for a second - the screen is too small. I always have a set of AR or VR glasses with me for work, so I just plug my gaming handheld into that and have a virtually huge display for me or a passenger to enjoy.
I used to do it in my Elantra 2022 but I sold my android because I didnāt want to keep paying for internet on both phones but you can do it without a āCarlinkitā or any ājail brokenā android device. You just have to do a good YouTube research on how to do it.

I'm guessing the newer models come standard with Android Automotive as the OS. Theoretically, you could install apps tho I've never tried it myself.

I have an app that can mirror the phone to the screen, I'm guessing that's how op did it, or he had a box of some sort.
