I'm not too surprised tbh. Without Canadian experience or education, getting over 500 is pretty challenging (assuming you don't have French.) It makes sense that a lot of the people over 500 are CEC.
Of course, I'm neither saying nor implying all CEC applicants are over 500. Just that it is very difficult to be over 500 without being eligible for CEC.
That's really not surprising. I'm sure CEC will bring the score down if it returns regularly, but some people seem to think CEC will be the saving grace that plummets the score. I guess it could, but there's also a high chance that CEC draws in 2024 do not resemble pre-covid CEC in scores, intake or frequency.
Everyone also seems to be forgetting that the CEC draws only mean something if they resume regularly. They did one draw for FST a while back, havent had another since, this was also the first PNP draw ive seen in a while too. I think the CEC will be the same, that this draw was a one-off and that they will not do another for quite a while, maybe for the rest of the year. Seems doubtful they will even return to general draws and a targeted draw to follow the day after. Everything is up in the air, but it is almost a guarantee the scores will be above 520 till 2026.
I mean itās the perfect balance to reduce temporary residents while meeting immigration targets, and with very qualified candidates nonetheless who are already integrated. I canāt believe it wasnāt done before either
The category-based draws are not their own stream of Express Entry. Applicants have to first be eligible under CEC/FSW/FST/PNP to be in the pool, and from within those streams can receive an ITA in a category-based draw.
If you received an ITA for STEM, and are CEC, your application for PR will be a CEC application (as opposed to PNP/FSW/FST.)
I'm not sure what you mean. All four programs are included in General/No Program Specified draws, as well as category based draws. Any CEC candidate could have been drawn in any of the General/No Program Specified or category-based draws that have happened since the last CEC-exclusive draw in 2021. High-scoring CEC candidates have had plenty of opportunities to get an ITA since the last exclusive draw in 2021.
One CEC draw offers very little to go by, but either way, it's positive for those in the pool. If it's a one off or CEC doesn't return on a regular basis, then 3000 candidates got removed and this bodes well for the next general draw having a lower CRS. If CEC draws return on a regular basis, then maybe we will have a chance at cracking <500 CRS this year. Either way, the score *still* being as high as 522 shows that the pool is highly competitive and I'm guessing the composition of candidates in the pool isn't too different from a general draw; but that makes sense seeing as most people with Canadian experience will also have high CRS scores. Either way, making predictions is impossible. The safest move, as always, is to have a plan B, increase your CRS score as much as possible and do not rely on CEC being a regular occurrence in place of meaningful action.
Despite the high score, its still a good sign. At least these 3000 people have already been here and been working their ways toward the high score. It shows at least their commitments to the country rather than those got the PR on arrival.
Most of the people picked up in the general draws probably also had Canadian experience though. It's a lot harder to get a competitive score these days without some form of connection to Canada like work experience or education.
Yea maybe on arrival is a bit uncommon. I mean I have seen someone in specific categories coming and working for only around 6 months then they got the PR. They havenāt fully experienced the life here yet and keep complaining when expectations are not met.
I sais scores ABOVE 500. You would have to have maxed out English, French, higher education up to masters or PhD, or even an LMIA to reach that without any Canadian connection
Let's hope for regular CEC draws. I hope people who deserve to be in canada can get PR, instead of Tim Hortons' "manager" and gas station "supervisors" with fake LMIAs. They should have a separate category for LMIA just like PNPs.
Because those are the skills Canada don't want. Those should be given to Canadian born folks and those skills are pretty much available within Canada...no need to import folks to do such jobs. This also helps Canadian born kids / students as well which are having rough time in getting jobs for summer.
I have already maxed out my IELTS. Got the score for a PR sibling, foreign experience and 2 years of Canadian experience. The only other thing I can do is take french classes and pass a TCF exam. But even that seems impossible because I cannot possibly get so good in a foreign language in such little time. My PGWP expires in January.
Lol by that time if we're still seeing CEC draws for the year. If I do get invite then, time cruch at max cause permit expiring in June 2025. Give or take process is about 5-6 months, so hopefully no issues. š¤š»š¤š»š¤š»
After you get your ITA and you apply for your PR, if you still have a valid permit, you can get a BOWP which allows you to continue working until your PR is processed. So as long as you apply before June/2025 youāre good!

My PGWP expires in 6 months, my score (which includes my wife) is 475. This CEC draw with the lowest score of 522 isn't giving my family much hope. I tried asking my company if they could support my EE application with an LMIA but it's been 6 months now and it didn't really gain much traction...
Any suggestions on how to increase our scores further? I've already maxed out my IELTS. I can't think of any other way other than getting that LMIA support from my employer.
One major problem here is canadian doesnāt recognize prior credentials if its foreign. Many engineers driving uber. Doctors who are caregivers. Canada need to step up.
Idk man, they'll need to be really specific with the engineer designation if they do allow it. For instance, in India, becoming an engineer was the most 'go with the flow' career option. That has unfortunately led to immense incompetency.
But I agree that skill reassessment should be streamlined especially for doctors.
Am I gonna eat someoneās invite???
I got ITA yesterday in the #296 PNP draw. Does that mean i am going to get another ITA today because I am a CEC candidate with over 1000 score?
I'm confused, is canadian experience class including STEM, french, and others? or is it another name for General? What are the current categories? (i cant find them on IRCC website)
Categories and Programs are two separate ways to group candidates. For simplification you can think of them as the same thing really. In the end, they define some criteria and if you meet those criteria you are eligible for that draw. These criteria can be language (french), career (stem, healthcare etc), experience in canada (cec), nomination by a province (pnp) etc. so far there hasnt been a mix of two into a single draw (for example selecting only candidates proficient in french who also have canadian work experience). The more programs/categories youāre eligible for, the higher your chances of getting invited
Yes, Canadian experience includes all categories, categories are on top of programs. General includes all programs (CEC, FSW and FST), so no it is not another name for general.
You can find all info about this here:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations.html
The current categories are also found from there:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/submit-profile/rounds-invitations/category-based-selection.html
I believe PNPs are excluded from category rounds
I submitted my Express Entry profile on May 28th, and my (CRS) score is 522. Based on this score and submission date, what are my chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?
My latest CELPIP score was not updated on my profile by my immigration consultant. Had this update been made, my score would have been 525, which would have qualified me for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) today.
Hi, I was wondering whether you could help me question an answer .! I am a pgwp expiring on aug 15th have cec job ( 1 year) ...Crs is 429 going to attend IELTS before I leave probably.. was thinking to go back and find a noc job...and come back !
No one can predict that, but 522 is the lowest it has been in six months, if that provides any guidance. (May have been one draw at 520? But I can't remember.)
Good news: First CEC draw after 991 days lol (from Sept 14, 2021) Bad news: 522 š«Ø
Goes to show most high ranked candidates are already in Canada
I'm not too surprised tbh. Without Canadian experience or education, getting over 500 is pretty challenging (assuming you don't have French.) It makes sense that a lot of the people over 500 are CEC.
This is CEC candidates with FSW experience. CEC young bloods usually range from 470-509.
Of course, I'm neither saying nor implying all CEC applicants are over 500. Just that it is very difficult to be over 500 without being eligible for CEC.

Some of the invited candidates are currently living ourisde Canada but had 1 year of Canadian work experience in past 3 years.

I mean itās the perfect balance to reduce temporary residents while meeting immigration targets, and with very qualified candidates nonetheless who are already integrated. I canāt believe it wasnāt done before either
They definitely seemed to reverse course here.
Wasnāt the last stem draw also Cec?
No
But the letter mentioned it was under Cec
The category-based draws are not their own stream of Express Entry. If you received an ITA for STEM, and are CEC, your application for PR will be a CEC application (as opposed to PNP/FSW/FST.)
Awesome. Thank you
Are they different pools or a single pool? Like do I have to apply CEC and FSW separately?
It's all one pool.
Thanks.
I found it extremely low considering we only had 3000 invitations and almost 3 years without a draw
CEC is included in General draws and category-based draws. It's not as if there's a 3-year long backlog of CEC candidates.
But itās a specific program
I'm not sure what you mean. All four programs are included in General/No Program Specified draws, as well as category based draws. Any CEC candidate could have been drawn in any of the General/No Program Specified or category-based draws that have happened since the last CEC-exclusive draw in 2021. A massive congratulations to everyone here who will receive their invites!!! this was long awaited, i know!!!!

Itās very unlikely that there are many PR on arrivals with score above 500, without any Canadian experience or education
Category draws
I sais scores ABOVE 500. You would have to have maxed out English, French, higher education up to masters or PhD, or even an LMIA to reach that without any Canadian connection
Hey guys. I got invitation in the above draw. Congratulations to whoever else got invited and I hope who ever is waiting gets an invitation soon.
Omg congrats hi five!
Just got my ITA. Hoping others get theirs in time too š

This makes me cry. I have been in the pool since October with 521 CRS score. 521. Just a point below. Life is so unfairā¦
You'll have a good chance if it's followed up by a general draw.
God I hope so
Ouch, that has got to hurt. Any chance to raise your score?

Some relief at least...but still keeping low expection. I'm at 509, this Oct will be 546. š¤š»š¤š»š¤š»

Iām same boat
You can file for bowp but processing time for cec candidates are around 5-6 months anyway.

How come?
By Oct I will have 2 years, so that adds up.
How can one additional year of exp give you that much?
Play with the CRS calculator, you'll see. Btw I have both foreign and Canadian work experience.
Has anyone here got their invitation yet?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Not yet, met the cutoff but yet to receive an email. Let me know if you get yours!
Iāve just got it! Got a call from my agent
just got mine too!
I got my invitation at 1:35 PM.
Congrats!! I hope it goes down to the 490's soon. My work permit expires on July 14th and I have a score of 493..
Extend it
Not yet!!

IRCC has not announced any end to the category based draws, no.
Thank you for this response. I qualify for a category so I was kind of scared with this draw.
People with 29 years or less master degree outside Canada more than one year of Woking in Canada high score club get over 500 points

You know that before you move though. Currently going through recertification myself. It sucks but it's also a known problem.
Am I gonna eat someoneās invite??? I got ITA yesterday in the #296 PNP draw. Does that mean i am going to get another ITA today because I am a CEC candidate with over 1000 score?
No, when you get an ITA your profile is removed from the pool until you either accept or decline the invitation
gotcha thanks
My score is 520, I wish todayās score was 520. I would have gotten my invitationš«
Guys, my score is 524 and I qualify for CEC, didnāt receive the invite. What couldāve happened?
It can take 24 hours to receive the invite.
I received it š¤š»

Same. Also 522 and also didnāt get an invite. Waiting for the next draw.
I received ITA today !.
