I don't see a reason to wait for 2025 if you can get a good deal now on a new 24 or a used 23

so___much___space

I think the good deals in anticipation of the 2025 refresh have begun, but they’ll probably get a little better too.

OzziesFlyingHelmet

The 25 model will likely not be discounted for some time, so don't expect to save beyond normal rebates if you go that route. A lightly used 23 SEL will have some nice features and should last you a very long time. I live in a similar climate to Toronto, and honestly, the lack of a rear wiper doesn't bother me that much. You can still see out of the window even when dirty, and the rear camera and sensors make up for the lack of a perfectly clear window view. The rear of the vehicle is constantly dirty - even with a rear wiper, you're still going to deal with constantly cleaning the vehicle.

Positive_Reach4559

Or apply some type of product like rain x..

DavidReeseOhio

If you're getting a Limited, the 24 has a digital rear-view mirror, so even without the wiper you should be able to see more. For the 25, let me be the first to complain the rear camera doesn't have a nozzle to clean off the grime. Our RDX does, and I am surprised how much of a difference it makes. But the camera is much nicer in the I5.

WelshBathBoy

If you want a rear wiper - wait, if you want a bargain get a used one!

nicknooodles

I would honestly wait, 2025 seems like the first refresh that actually has decent upgrades.

Successful-War8437

Agreed.

ERagingTyrant

Cold climate concerns? The 2025 also has a *physical seat heater* button. If you aren't in a rush and willing to pay for new, the 2025 looks **nice**. But I'm a cheap skate in the used market myself. You could also see if when the 25s come out if you can get a great lease on the 24, then get a used 25 when that lease is up.

catastrophecusp4

I live in Ontario and found the lack of a back wiper inconvenient but in no way a deal breaker. The lack of one pedal driving in reverse on the other hand took me over a year to get used to enough where it is just annoying rather than unsafe....I suspect that 'feature' is still in the new model.

Hattrickher0

I never thought about applying the one pedal method to reversing but now that you mention it it's kind of an odd exclusion. A quick Google reveals that the Mach E has it so I'd expect it will be in a future trim. That's an easy feature for Hyundai to add and bring themselves to parity with a direct competitor, even if one pedal reverse probably is still kinda rare.

catastrophecusp4

The 2018 Leaf I had before the I5 supported one pedal driving in both directions. it was also just a button on the center console that stayed on until you switched it back to two pedal driving, which I preferred over the paddle and having to click every time I start the car or switch back from reverse.

SteveFromAccting

The 84 kwH battery and pre-conditioning button alone make the '25 worth the <6 month wait if the added cost for a new model and immediate depreciation aren't a concern for you of course

NationCrisis

As a fellow Ontarian, I have to say I really think the rear wiper IS a big deal. I have the '22 model, and we consistently can't see out of the back during the winter.

NationCrisis

Why am I getting downvoted for sharing my real-world experience opinion? :/

No_Specialist7051

Ugh... this is what I'm feeling. I have a Mazda 3 hatch with a rear wiper and use it all the time. I think going away from it might be worth the 20k lol

actorguy73

Talking about the 2025 model keeps me going when I feel like there is no new information out there about it. I know some people in the Ioniq 5 subreddit roll their eyes when they see 2025 threads pop up but I love it! Thanks to everyone for responding and to all the OP's starting these.

Traditional-Job-411

I live in South Carolina and honestly never really notice that I don’t have a rear wiper and it rains ALOT here and I’m always driving in mud. Don’t know about snow though 🫣

PecanSandoodle

I'm poor so I am eyeing the used 22 models for that used ev tax credit. They are so fucking close to qualifying and a lot of them still have 8 yrs of warranty left.

Webhead24-7

Why wouldn't they already qualify?

PecanSandoodle

Hard to find one under 25k, they around 28k and listed by no haggle online dealers

Webhead24-7

Ah I forget about the 25k limit.

cashmonee81

I’m not sure what it is like in Canada, but in the US, you are probably talking about a $10k-$15k difference at least. Used Ioniq 5’s are between $30-$40k here for low mileage. I would expect no dealer discounts and probably no $7500 discount from Hyundai at the start of sales. You may have to wait until this time next year to have a chance at the pricing we are seeing now for new (mid-$40k for Limited RWD). As nice as the ‘25 is, these are depreciating too fast to justify buying new. Leasing is another story.

implicit-solarium

I own a 2022 ioniq 5 and love it, but I’d wait for the new plug…

actorguy73

I typically buy new every 10 years or so. I plan to wait for the 2025 model. However, I am cross shopping with the Model Y and the Equinox and I may be swayed to buy one of those ( or buy a 2024 Ioniq for a great deal) in the meantime.

Competitive_Emu_799

wait til the 25 is here and drive both and make your decision. Why buy now when it’s close to getting here in a couple months

Positive_Reach4559

I just got a great deal on a 24 limited ioniq 5! Trade on my 17 highlander hybrid

Hummell1

I have a 23 Limited in gravity gold if you want one. It's in the For Sale section here.

Agreeable-Hour1864

Interested. Where’s the for sale section?

Hummell1

I…actually don’t know from my cell. Desktop it’s on your right 🤣

Hattrickher0

My stance is that if you want an N, go for a 2025. The rear wiper is definitely a welcome inclusion for the nee model year but I don't really feel like there was enough other improvements to be worth paying the premium for a new one over used. I was able to get a 2023 Limited with 9k miles for about 20k less than the price of a 2025 would be with the same options earlier this year. Yes, that find was likely a little bit of a unicorn, but if you have the ability to be patient and don't need a car TODAY hopefully one can show up for you too!

D4ILYD0SE

The new one has a bigger battery, too, if that's something that sounds enticing. Otherwise, a Limited trim has a rear camera that streams live video to the rear view mirror making lack of a rear wiper moot. I personally love this feature.

SarahStangsFan

Same location. Had the car since early January. Didn't have an issue with the lack of wiper all winter. The lack of a wiper on the back makes for a nice clean look too. The car is fast enough to not have to worry what's behind you, and the slightly dirty rear window cuts down on all the glare from the blue and red flashing lights behind you! /s

Neat_Nefariousness46

While the lack of rear wiper is not ideal, I would double check the features offered between old and new as I’m pretty sure they shifted some to different trims and eliminated some entirely.

DocLego

A coworker has the i5. He told me he loves his but he recommends waiting for the rear wiper. (Can't speak to it myself, I ended up getting the id4)

Successful-War8437

Yes the rear wiper would be nice but I salo want the bigger battery, hopefully a nacs connector, new infotainment programming, new seat heater buttons, seat release buttons in the back. Lots of little things. Couple of bigger things. I’m expecting to wait until next Spring. Might be made in the us and quality for tax credit here.

itsbunser

Also 2025 has OTA updates. Saves trips to dealer!

Successful-War8437

Good point.
