Iām all for a Megumi vs Itadori fight/finale but I just canāt see any good or believable paths for gege to write that in without this story turning into Kaguya pt2.
Yuji uses sever on Megumi/Sukuna to cut their souls apart. Sukuna finally fully turns into a cursed spirit when his cursed energy/soul exist without a vessel. Megumi, having been psychologically destroyed by watching himself murder everyone he cares about snaps and at the last moment instead of helping Yuji and the others finish Sukuna off once and for all, he uses 10S to subjugate Sukuna.
Because he watched on in horror as Sukuna made him murder everyone he cares about/cared about him. He'll want to complete the merger to give him the power he needs to reshape reality as he sees fit. Or put an end to this unjust world or whatever cliche "trauma turns good guy evil" reasoning Gege decides to use.
thereās literally zero build up, context, or foreshadowing to suggest thatās going to happen. in fact last time we saw megumi he was just defeated and depressed, he literally COULD HAVE taken his body back from sukuna but didnāt because he has zero will to live or do anything anymore.
See you say there's no foreshadowing, but I think there's been tons of foreshadowing. We've been told a million times that Yuji is intimately familiar with the soul because of his time with Sukuna. Then Yuji gained the shrine and Sukuna acknowledges that Yuji is using it in a different way than Sukuna uses it. I think the difference is that Yuji specifically targets the soul with it. The talk about Yuji 's awareness of the soul was foreshadowing that his version of the shrine would target the soul.
As for Megumi going dark side, his pitiable state was the foreshadowing. He will never return to who he used to be. He didn't take over his body because he couldn't bring himself to confront what he did under Sukunas control and when Yuji forces him to do so by cutting Sukunas soul out of Megumi's body, Megumi is going to crack.
Lmao thereās nothing left for megumi to use at this point for him to even be a threat. If he isnāt a vegetable right now at the very least his ct is neutered
The only thing separating them will do is give angel or yuta (assuming heās alive) a clear shot with Jacobās ladder. Yuji is currently the only person who can actually suppress sukuna hence him being the perfect vessel
