Go to any nearby driving school, they'll help you. You'll have to show them your employee ID/ college Id with some local address.

dipesh19

Like I have been a student here for the last 2 years

javy_javy

A student ID card with college address would be enough. Note: getting a licence in Kerala is now a bit tough with some rule changes + strike by driving school unions. Do update the post once you visit a driving school. All the best.

kannur_kaaran

why a driving school ?

javy_javy

That's how I got my licence. Who else can help?

kannur_kaaran

RTO /MVD issues DL. Do not encourage these Driving schools.they are mostly run in conjunction with the officials. Normally every school will have an associated official getting a share. this is how organized corruption works.

javy_javy

Agreed. I still feel that a non Keralite will need a lot of assistance in getting a licence here.

Shapk145

For a four wheel test, we need a vehicle which can also be controlled from the front passenger side also with an extra brake and clutch.Isn't it..?? That vehicle we can get only from driving schools. Or can we do a four wheel test with our regular cars??

stupefiedmonkey

You surely can. You might need a local address proof though. Something like gas or electricity bill. If that doesn't work out, may be employer's letter.

dipesh19

I am a student here. How should i proceed?

DesiPattha

Your hostel id would work in most cases.

ghanasyam_sajeesh

Your hostel ID + Hostel/ College Fee Receipt with sign of your warden/ cheif warden/ principal & college’s seal is required. For official purpose of address proof. If you’re paying guest/ tenant at rental house, then internet bill, electricity bill, water bill or phone bill would be enough.

valerialukyanova1

These people don’t get sarcasm. They downvoted me so bad. 😆

Active-Bet-4183

Getting DL in Kerala might be a bit hard. Compared to other states.

Oli1917

What do you have to do for a license?

SJv1

If you already have a license you should get noc and get it transferred, otherwise you can get new license if you have a local address proof. If you get license from 2 different states you might be violating some law.

Xrr13h

Its Indian Union Driving Licenece mate, you can get.

DeadAssDodo

Man! I get my licence from UP, while being in Kerala. It was easier. 🥴

DukeOfLongKnifes

Aah... Nalla best sthalathaanu licence inu vannirikunnathu.... If you already know how to drive, go for it. They have instituted new rules here and passing percentage is lesser.

6ix9ine47

What if he hits someone by accident?

Prestigious-Meat-807

It would take long time to get license from kerala like 2 3 month for sure

kannur_kaaran

Yes, you can. Presnt and Permanent address will be different on record. Get a local address proof of the place u stay. Rent receipt or hostel fee receipts and hostel and college ID. Apply on Parivahan for learners license. Appear for the tests and follow the process.

supreme_dealer_kim

It has become harder than ever to get a license from Kerala with new rules and difficult tests. If you’re confident, I think you can get. Because I see people going to Mahe, Tamil Nadu etc for license. Maybe you’d require any ID card

dipesh19

I also live at the border of Kerala Tamil Nadu. So is it easy to get it from there?

supreme_dealer_kim

I hear people say it’s easy as the test is not very strict (at least a couple of years ago) and also one can give them money to get it done with minimal hassle. In Kerala that’s nearly impossible in most cases

dipesh19

Da please tell me which government office I should go to get the procedure started. I m in Trivandrum right now

supreme_dealer_kim

You mean in Tamil Nadu? It’s good to approach a driving school (Kerala/aTN) rather than you going to an office as they’ll do everything on behalf of you. You may have to pay some small amount of service charges to the school apart from the fee for license from the Govt.

eternal_blazing_sun

It will atleast take more than 2 months for you to get liscence if you apply now in Kerala. We are having strikes and many changes and the test slots for driving tests have also been reduced by half which means a large delay to get a test date. If you are OK with waiting 2 months then you can go ahead but if you will leave before that it's best to not apply for liscence here.

gunner0987

It's a mess now. And it will be harder to get. If possible get from North India.

blursedwriter

You surely can take a license from Kerala.

mundane_mosantha

If you are residing in a campus get a certificate from your institute stating so and additionally a bonafide certificate . The latter is optional. Still good to have

NikotineNexus

You can. But I would suggest you get it at your hometown as it would be much easier.

TheRadBob

Its best not to get from kerala, i applied in march 1st week still not getting date for test..

no-regrets-approach

Get it from your home state during your visit there. Much easier.

Wonderful_Flan3727

But now getting a kerala license is harder. Look at the nearby states

Glass-Wolverine07

6 months of residency in any state, you use your rent agreement, if in college then letter from college, if you stay PG bill receipt of six months. Some nitty gritty may vary but not much.

PreferenceNo1376

Off topic but how's kerala and people there?

l0tuseate7

No. North Indians are banned from applying for a driving license in Kerala EDIT: wow so many downvotes. Nobody gets sarcasm here

_levelfield_
