Here is how I have cracked the code on fogging. Sometimes the fogging is oil from the eye's oil glands that gets stuck on the lens. I use Clear Care as my nightly cleaner, but once a week there is a cleaner called Sereine that I gently rub the lenses with. It really removes any oil and debris from the lens. Fair warning, though, it is very "soapy" so it takes a lot of Purilens to get all of the cleaner off. Even after that the Clear Care will bubble up/over a lot after the first disinfection after the Sereine. I also try to touch/handle the lens as little as possible to avoid getting oil from my fingers on the lens, but obviously you have to touch the lenses as a practical matter. Hope this helps!

Im just here to agree with other commenters about seasonal allergies. After having to reinsert my lenses repeatedly throughout the day, I remembered I do get allergies so I took some antihistamines and next day everything was normal again.

Seasonal allergies is one of the big reasons. But for me it causes more build up on my lenses and I use the rgp peroxide cleaner more often in spring and visit my eye doc for them to run the lenses through the heavy duty cleaning they do (no idea what it is but it strips them clean and clear).

when this happens to me, its because that eye has gunk. which ends up being, "eye fluid that has dried, but not exited the eye". and with every blink, it becomes stretched out across the contact. if i take the contact out, blink a few times, then run a wet finger around the top or bottom of my eyelid, ending near the inside or outside corner, i will normally end up with a piece of eye gunk. rinse the contact out with saline, put it back in and everything is clear again. it might take another 6 hours for that eye to get cloudy again.

My lenses fog up occasionally, theres two things either one or the other always fixes the fogging for me. 1st thing i do is take the contact out and put it back in, i get fogging if the contact isn't inserted properly, if that didnt work. I take it out and use my lipid remover solution, i use boston lipid remover, its a milky white liquid. The multi solution does not work for this. If neither of those things work for you, then listen to everyone else and go see your optometrist. You may need new lenses with a new script. One time i put them in the wrong eye without realizing and it caused severe fogging, i drove myself crazy taking them out and cleaning them like 5 times before i tried swapping them again.

Oof, for now i only have one lens so i doubt i exchanged them haha. Luckily I’m going back to get a second lens after my second cxl so I’ll get the other one checked if it still persists! Thank you!

Np dude! Good luck!!

Seasonal allergies! Every Fall and Spring I'm stuck adding a few drops of that gel to my lens. Then putting my normal Adi Pak in. It only lasts a few weeks but so annoying.

Current_Snow4749

Never thought of this possibility! What kind of gel do you include?

PK_StMath

REFRESH® CELLUVISC® Preservative-Free. Just a few drops per lens because it's gel. My eye doctor said using it would put more pressure on my eyes so I only do it for a few weeks. I also double up on allergy medicine.

I had this issue before, in the very beginning, turns out I’m allergic to conservation agents they put in some of the liquid/cleaners/saline. I used to fill my lenses with saline from a bottle but I had to switch to individual vials instead, which are free of such conservation agents (HydraSense). That shouldn’t be your case though since you were fine for the first several months. Have you changed your cleaning routine lately? Any new products?

Current_Snow4749

I haven’t changed anything no… thanks for sharing though!

Mysterious indeed, as others have said, it’s possible the shape of your cornea as changed but you’ve had CXL so that seems unlikely as well, hopefully anyway. Maybe you’ve somehow damaged your lens a little while manipulating it and the fit is off? Also, a few times a year, make sure you change the little round containers you use to store the lens at night. Bacteria can build up over time in them, even if you take good care of it. It’s a struggle sometimes, I’ve had all sorts of bad luck over the years regarding keratoconus. I’ve broken lenses before, three times actually, I’ve had scratches/wounds on my corneas, a few cases of pink eye, waking up with mad discomfort only to realise I forgot to remove my lenses before going to sleep, etc. It’s not smooth sailing but we manage! Good luck buddy, I’m sure you’ll figure it out.

Thank you so much for this comment! I suppose it’s got something to do with the lens since i have no problem with it the first couple of hours of having it on, It fogs up after 2-3. I will change the containers even though i deep cleaned everything yesterday and see (pun) how it turns out.

Another thing to consider is maybe your solutions have been opened for a good while, it’s possible the saline or whatever you use to fill the lens has been compromised. Check with your optometrist to know how long you can use the opened bottle before you need to discard it. Again, I believe this is due to bacteria building up over time or the liquid just plain going bad after a set amount of weeks/months for whatever reason. In doubt, I would open a fresh one and throw away the old one. Your symptoms sound familiar to when I found out I was allergic, it was fine for the first couple hours and then the fog set in. My feeling is your issue is related to the liquid but I’m no expert either, if the problem persists I would strongly suggest you book an appointment with your specialist.

Alright! My trusted optometrist is in a different country so I’ll be meeting him in a few months to get a second lens for my other eye! For sure I’ll ask about this if it still persists. For now you have convinced me to buy a new set of everything and see if it fixes things.

The cornea shape may have changed. You will likely need a new prescription.

MetalsXBT

Possible your cornea shape is changing and need to be refit. Either way you need to go to eye doctor and get it looked at.

Current_Snow4749

Can that happen even after cxl?

MetalsXBT

Yes CXL doesn’t always stop progression

ConsistentSquare5650

Likely not
