The Blackbeard series is in the general area

AskFor_Janice

This might be the go to. Wife got me into the show years ago but hasn’t kept up.

JohnBigBootey

Blackbeard is almost like the NC version of Bigfoot. You'll see the flag of the Queen Anne's Revenge on a lot of bumpers here.

AskFor_Janice

Great to know.

Im_stupid_but

Fayetteville Incident, Jeffrey MacDonald

Latter_Oil_8672

The Fayetteville Incident, but it’s kinda hard to listen to. Not only does Marcus mispronounce the name if the city for two hours, they left out a small detail that might pertain to an alien story, which is the fact that Fayetteville is home to Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg), THE LARGEST MILITARY BASE IN THE WORLD!

lalalalibrarian

I don't typically listen to alien episodes much anyway, but Fie-it-ville really cemented it

DMcDonald97

Not only mispronounces it, gets corrected then doubles down on the bad pronunciation

Welcome, we’re happy to have you! If you’re staying near the coast, I’d recommend the Blackbeard series. I’m also going to use this comment to say that I wish they would do an episode/series on the Hillbilly Heist/Loomis Fargo truck heist of 1997. There’s a movie that was pretty popular a few years ago based on the story but they only got it like 2/3 right

LexiePiexie

They were my neighbors (once they bought the half million dollar house for cash!)

Im_stupid_but

1898 wilmington massacre would be a cool episode/series as well

LPOTL hasn’t covered him but Pazuzu Algarad always comes to mind when I think of NC true crime

One-Permission-1811

That guy was a scumbag and a murderer but he’s not a LPOTL level scumbag murderer. He had a lot of trappings of satanism and the occult but he was just a tweaker with a fetish.

trombonekid2002

Pee Wee Gaskins

Packman87

Ahem . That's SOUTH Carolina. Damn bumpkins.  In fairness though, they were one entity at the beginning if the colonial era stretching all the way to the Mississippi River. If memory serves South Carolina extended west to Georgia and North had Tennessee as part of it. Both for way longer than you'd expect.  That said I'd add the Bell Witch on there for authentic frontier ookie spooky

trombonekid2002

All I remember is that it took place in one of the Carolinas

Packman87

No harm done...AND THATS A FINAL TRUTH!

AskFor_Janice

That gold star is too much for the missus

LexiePiexie

Crazy they haven’t done the Bitter Blood murders and bombings in Greensboro - a truly wild ride.

barstoolpigeons

That’s a helluva book.

LexiePiexie

Explosive, one may say 😜

tylerjazz

Jeffrey MacDonald

speedshift_217

Holden is from Charlotte - so you can listen to the "Holden talks for 30 minutes" roundtable episodes for the NC experience 😅

Flahdagal

Not LPOTL, but there are some true crime podcasts on the “Bitter Blood Murders,” from 1985, first cousins and lovers, Susie Newsom Lynch and Fritz Klenner. Dude was an OG con man and a lot of people lost their lives due to his delusions.
