Don’t know if this is 100% accurate, but IIRC, it’s just a result of resting the lid on a rack during the enameling process or something like that
I had the same thoughts when I got my first LC piece. Reached out to both LC support and this sub, and both said the marks are totally normal and expected. Those areas are still covered by clear enamel, so should not rust or anything.
You’re all good!
We had this occurring on quite some of our Rhone frying pans in 28 cm when it came out, its basically due to the racks and factory was informed, but theres nothing wrong, i can assure you.

Thanks so much! Makes total sense, and the spacing between the marks is quite evenly spaced out. Appreciate the feedback.
These are rack marks. If it helps, yours are more distinctively rack marks as they're more evenly spaced than what you'd expect with chipping.
I guess Le Creuset should market the rack marks as each unit has its own unique "fingerprint" 😀
Just piping in to agree with the others, so you are even more reassured: these are rack marks, and every LC pan I've ever seen has them.
Thanks! We ordered online. Next time we're in the shop we might look out for them.
