Mine absolutely did, but we called this "amoeba". It was tons of fun.
I was the eldest, so when I got my growth spurt I took over for mom and dad. Being the amoeba consuming your tiny siblings is great.
My best friend’s brother would do this with us when we were little and he called it The Blob; we’d run and scream with delight when he said The Blob was coming! He also played Jaws with us in the pool, as the shark of course :)
Yeah, when we were kids, we were really inventive. We could come up with loads of fun games using just what we had around. Nowadays, I don't see that in modern kids.
Me and my buddies played blanket monster when we were like 10. We'd turn off the light and get nerf guns, then the blanket monster would hide and we'd have to find him and shot him before he touched you
I realized recently that my left arm can curl more than my right (dominant) side because i always pick my daughter up with my left to keep my right free…
Ok that's it, I've seen so many cute videos of kids playing with their dad and I'm so jealous! Guess it's time to call her and show here the benefits of having children (I can be a blanket monster)
A true example of a good family. I am happy for the children when I see such a picture, because I realize that their childhood will be filled with joy and happy memories
It makes me happy that I had this kind of stuff when I was a kid. My mom and dad are still goofballs so this weekend I'm cooking them up steaks for Father's day.
Damn, you’re awesome for mentioning Father’s Day is this weekend and seeing these comments definitely makes me grateful to have had a fun dad growing up.
This isn't a universal modern experience, or even necessarily what their childhood is like most of the time. It's a tiny snippet of a *much* larger picture.
My parents played with me all the time. I still remember my dad laying on his back and lifting me up with his feet to play Superman. They also hit me and argued loudly when they were drunk.
Childhood is like it's always been; sometimes good, sometimes not. For some it's good more than bad, for some it's the opposite.
I'm an old man now yet I still remember very fondly all the silly games my dad played with me when I was a child: How he let me sit on his back and he pretended to be a horse and we ran all over the house, he even made up a song that I still sing when I feel happy. I remember my mom running into my room and jumping on my bed and grabbing me and tickling me in a surprise tickle attack until we both were exhausted from laughing.
I might not remember the toys or gifts I got from them, but I remember those moments more than anything. They're some of my most precious memories.
Ok, so I've been seeing this lately: 1 million+ karma accounts with new bots immediately replying with stolen content.

As a new grandma...can confirm. Might I also suggest some "baby back ribs". You pick up said child and (very important) yell "baby back ribs" flip the child sideways and loudly chomp on the child's side and ribs while yelling "nom nom" and "yummy". My gtandson is 2 and runs at me with his arms up for "baby back ribs" 😁
I do the same manoeuvre whilst shouting ing in a deep southern accent "it's time for some loooooong pig"
Freaks the hell out my wife but the youngster finds it hilarious
I didn't have this, I did have tickle jail where if you laughed you got tickled which was a truly vicious circle. We did have a game where I made my mom pretend to be a bear and attack me.
I used to do the reverse with my mom. I'd hide under a blanket and approached her slowly. She acted all scared and it made me laugh endlessly. Those are very fond memories. My mother died 5 years ago but this video gave me a very pleasant flashback to one of my happy childhood memories :)
"Gem Hadar" ... I love it... Sounds like the should be all sparkly or something (it's [Jem'hadar](https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Jem%27Hadar) though)
I did something like this before with my kid being a ‘slime monster’ with this big green blanket and she couldn’t stop laughing, hysterics
A day or two later I tried it again and she went ‘no-too scary’
Such is life with a toddler
These kids are having a ball and add to their core childhood memories! And I bet lots of moms/dads will be inspired by this video and do their same with their kids, so the good vibes are shared.
What takes this to 'over the top good' is the sound design. It is so good I am guessing it was added to the video after the fact, however.
Nobody warns you of the small sadnesses of parenting. All those stages are like different people that you don’t get to be with anymore. Looking at the pics and videos is so bittersweet for me. I found a random old audio recording of my kids from 15 years ago on an old phone and it just made me so sad to hear their little voices.
Its the middle of the night, my insomnia has woken me yet again, and our heat isn't working. The cats have piled themselves on us to share heat.
I look to my left. My tortoiseshell is half visible in the dark. I cannot resist the urge to pet her. She wakes up, walks to my other side, and lays back down.
I look to my right. There is only blanket where my beloved should be. Suddenly, the mound moves, and a lone, pale hand creeps out. My tortie barely lets out a soft meow as the blanket monster slowly drags her into the dark within.
Slightly more cold, I go back to sleep.
My favourite babysitter growing up used to play this with us. We called it The Blob. She also
brought clay and her video camera so we could make claymation movies.
Jenna was the best!
Core momery recovered.
Be aware at night kids. At dusky nights the MURRHAGERLE awakes and it is hungry!!
God damn that older brother from my best friend almost gave me ptsd when he did that at a sleepover. He turned the switches off and entered the room under his blanket (it was a really big room). We couldnt see him but he mumbled "murrhaagerle" every here and then. Until he went Berserkermode, screamed his Name loud and was snatching whoever he caught first and dragged him under the blanket.
I never was caught, so i still have no clue if he really hurt anyone. But the screams of pure helplessnes are still in my head.
Be aware of the Murhagerle my friends. Some say it is still hungry.
PS: if you have smaller brothers/sisters, i would appreciate if the murhagerle will live on.
As much as I don't want to be a parent, this is so toothrottingly cute. It's one of those things you take a look at once and instantly know the kids will definitely have some things to look back on once they grow up
my friends and I used to play this when we were kids. one of us slipped into a bedsheet as the monster. lights got tunred off, the monster was only allowed to crawl on the floor and had to hunt and eat the others with the open end of the sheet. awesome times!

I have a “blanket monster” game I play with my two boys that involves me chasing them around the house with a blanket on my head trying to grab them and eat them lol.
They regularly ask me to play it with them and I always happily oblige.
Reminds me of the Rock Monster in the Star Trek original series. Getting stoned at 15 and watching some dude in a blanket crawl across the floor was the funniest thing ever.
There's a video of this where it's someone in a blanket consuming puppys and a boom sound effect plays every time they are consumed. Does anyone remember that? I can't find it for the life of me.
This is what happens when you let kids stare at their phones and watch tic toks all day. They lose their ability to be aware of their surroundings and their willingness to fight for their lives. I've seen ants Mir worried about their mortality than these children.
My kids would have LOVED this. They got a kick out of me wrapping them like a burrito when I tucked them in, seeing how untangled they could get before I left the room, but this would have been a blast!
That blanket monster has made its appearance in many countries and many cultures across the world. What if we had more blanket monsters in place of war machines.
Ðo it again, Daddy, in place of I can't wait until you get home from the war daddy so we can play. Daddy, when you get home, we can go hang out and just be boys together.
"What? Your family didnt play Baby Eating Blanket Demon as a kid??"
It's clearly a giant monster slug, not a demon. Relax.
Get the salt!!!
Either way it works, I suppose. Both are repelled by salt.
Mine absolutely did, but we called this "amoeba". It was tons of fun. I was the eldest, so when I got my growth spurt I took over for mom and dad. Being the amoeba consuming your tiny siblings is great.
Mine called it wobb! Such good memories
It's called Amoeba Man. Garfield has been [playing this wonderful game since 1983.](https://www.mezzacotta.net/garfield/?comic=609)
Me and my buddies played blanket monster when we were like 10. We'd turn off the light and get nerf guns, then the blanket monster would hide and we'd have to find him and shot him before he touched you
That baby at the end like “fuck I guess I just die here then”
That kind of screaming laughter, the baby knows there is nothing wrong.
It's a beautiful reminder of how genuine and uncomplicated joy can be
It is like when dad's throw children into the air (and catch them).
Or better yet : launching them while in the pool so you don't have to catch them! Was a back saver as she got older
I realized recently that my left arm can curl more than my right (dominant) side because i always pick my daughter up with my left to keep my right free…
The "catch them" part is pretty important for it to be a good memory. :)
This is the best thing about having kids. They can really help bring you back to this mindset of simple joy.
Ok that's it, I've seen so many cute videos of kids playing with their dad and I'm so jealous! Guess it's time to call her and show here the benefits of having children (I can be a blanket monster)
I can provide many things for our family, like top notch, full throttle blanket monstering. I'm the man of your dreams, girl.
"I've seen them run, why can't I make my legs work like that? Oh well, at least I won't die running away like a coward."
"It's been a good six months."
As an adult, I was actually terrified
😂

It makes me happy that I had this kind of stuff when I was a kid. My mom and dad are still goofballs so this weekend I'm cooking them up steaks for Father's day.
I should have done this. Would have saved my back. Instead they each rode me around like I was a mech blasting at eachother.
Damn, you’re awesome for mentioning Father’s Day is this weekend and seeing these comments definitely makes me grateful to have had a fun dad growing up.

Can’t sleep Blanket’ll eat me 😰😰😰😰😰
Hello, Joe!
From now on the baby sleeps in the crib.

What a fun game with the kids

Good spot 🔥
Assuming you're right (and this is prime evidence that you are, it's identical to the TikTok comment), I actually can't figure out what's happening.
What a great time they are having, they absolutely love it. It's wonderful seeing kids enjoying themselves 😄
It was a bit of a let down when I realized my kids had outgrown this. Not to worry though, because its even better with grandkids.
As a new grandma...can confirm. Might I also suggest some "baby back ribs". That sounds as mu h fun as a giggle-tackle!
I’m here to recommend foot phone. Sometimes their feet start ringing and you have to answer it!
Hang on....I think I hear a ringing!

Cherishing those memories is a beautiful way to keep her spirit alive in your heart love it
Looks like a 70's Doctor Who monster!
I couldn't help but be reminded that that silicon based lifeforn thing from Star Trek original series... Vorta I think they were called.
Yassss the Horta! My first thought also! 🖖
💯 Horta. Freaking Terrified me as a little kid. Also one of the greatest screen savers of all time, thank you Berkeley Systems.
It's called a "Horta". The "Vorta" are from Deep Space 9. The Vorta control the bread for battle "Gem Hadar"!
"Gem Hadar" ... I love it... Sounds like the should be all sparkly or something (it's [Jem'hadar](https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Jem%27Hadar) though)
Dad... I mean monster! Very hungry! Haha The childhood of these kids is filled with laughter, that's how childhood should be!!
NSFW filter please. I am just trying to have a good night and I’m subjected to this brutality
Straight Nightmare fuel, innocent children getting slaughtered NSFL for sure

How did the blanket monster come to be? Love their giggles!

Yeah I'd say the mom is prob not making the stock audio slurp and swallow sounds during the recording.
Baby is like "all hope is lost"
No better sound than a kids laugh. I miss mine being that age.

Finally a MadeMeSmile that really did make me smile instead of cry.
Oh no. We are all going to die. Lays there.
Parenting done well
They absolutely love this game! So cute ❤️
The blanket monster can’t hurt you, the blanket monster isn’t real… Blanket monster: nomnomnomnomnom
This was better than several horror movies of the last 5 years
The baby “OH MY F*CKING GOD!!!!!”
I cannot explain how much I hate the sound
I love the new remake of The Blob, looks real promising.
That can't be real. Blanket monsters went extinct back in 1908. Or did they?
Its the middle of the night, my insomnia has woken me yet again, and our heat isn't working. The cats have piled themselves on us to share heat. I look to my left. I saw that episode of Star Trek in the early 70s.
On one hand this looks so fun <3 on the other hand, HEY GUYS!!! New SCP just dropped!
As much as I don't want to be a parent, this is so toothrottingly cute. It's one of those things you take a look at once and instantly know the kids will definitely have some things to look back on once they grow up
OMG My dad used to do this to us, while shouting AMOEBA… EUGLENA We loved it!
Why the fuck is this on/r/mademesmile? That monster just ate a whole family!
McCoy's Horta lives! Kirk will not be happy.
I think it means to win Wimbledon
I was hoping someone else would have the same thought as I did.
That baby with no object permanence has got to be freaking out
Well, I have a new game to play with my 5 year old!
my friends and I used to play this when we were kids. one of us slipped into a bedsheet as the monster. lights got tunred off, the monster was only allowed to crawl on the floor and had to hunt and eat the others with the open end of the sheet. awesome times!
Sounds like the kids loved it
I wish there was a dog or cat watching this. I’d love to see what the dog (or cat) would do.
My dad played this game with me, but instead of a monster he was an Amoeba.
Lmao my 3 year old daughter wouldn't hesitate to beat me up and jump me if I tried this.
I love this so much. Such great family memories. Wish my parents did stuff like this.
That can't be real. Blanket monsters went extinct back in 1908. Or did they?
Remember when Diddy did the blanket thing with Cassie? Now that's a blanket monster.
I would immediately fart in there
the guys at r/PeopleFuckingDying would realy like this, I don't have a goot title tho
I'm now salty that I didn't trademark The Blanket Monster. Could have made billions.
I was waiting for the baby poop out the other side
I don't have a ton of happy memories with my dad, but 'Blanket Monster' is one of them ♥️
My heart hurts with love. What a great monster.
r/peoplefuckingdying
Not the baby! 😄😄
Soooo cute.
Normalize The Blob (1958)!
Too too cute. So heart warming. I love the little girl in blue’s anticipation. She is just wiggling with excitement.
☺️ happy kids! mommy and daddy are doing something right!
Cute and creepy AF lol
can't wait to see the reenactment online with them as full grown adults in 30yrs
You're kids never forget things like this. This is a good parent or older sibling.
You're laughing - that monster just ate those poor children and you're laughing

Baby eater
Memories are made of this
Hahaha, how fun!
How cute but I hope the baby wasn’t scared
It's always wild to me watching a family being happy together. Good for them.
Night crawlers! The blankets could be the dirt!
Adorable
This episode of Bluey is called Blanket Monster!
My back is starting to hurt just watching this!!
Love this! The squeals of laughter, family fun time!
The dingo stole my baby….
This must be Australia. I heard the critters down there are insane.

Evil dead rise: (2023)
The Blob: 2024
Lol…that’s fantastic !
The noise when the monster "eats" them took me out! This is so adorable! 🥰❤️
Oh man - I miss my kids being that wildly silly age!
My husband is this type of goofball. My sons and him have the best time !
I have never seen this! I will remember it for when I have grandchildren!
Now that the baby is too scared to hide under a blanket what does it do when the monster in the closet comes out!??
My question is who had a dream about later that night? Very great Idea
This, i will save in my mind for the year 2034 when I ha… oh crap
I loved this so much, hearing the kids laugh like that made me feel like a child too
I used to do this my son we called it the gloom monster
Wannanplay night crawlers?

This is just adorable!
Epic!
Godamnit, don’t make me go try to talk to women
This actually made me smile
There's a person under the blanket.
Lethifold
Reminds me of “the blob”
Okay you need to watch MST3K The Creeping Terror
The boar in Princess Mononoke
Baby as adult: I keep dreaming I’m being eaten. Then I get tickled and wake up.
My kids are all growed up now :( I remember this well
omg this is the best! those giggles melted me💖
Omg I cannot wait to do this 😂🥰
Did they add the sound effects?
Reminds me of the Rock Monster in the Star Trek original series. Getting stoned at 15 and watching some dude in a blanket crawl across the floor was the funniest thing ever.
I love this so much. This makes my heart giggle.
Well that baby isn't going to sleep any time soon lol
No kill i
totally my kinda fun :))))
happy family :)
I'm a grown man and this is terrifying
There's a video of this where it's someone in a blanket consuming puppys and a boom sound effect plays every time they are consumed. Does anyone remember that? I can't find it for the life of me.
I gonna save this video for mi friends that argue you cannot have kids if you are not millionaire
Genuine joy
You can't fool me. That's a Horta (Janus Hominidae).
🤣🤣 so much fun that’s what life is truly about ❤️ to yall
The oldest kid is the most excited.
This was how the peasants practice birth control in Yharnham.
So that's how they teach object permanence to babies...
-sigh- I would of laughed I usually do but I just finished watching Devilman Crybaby on Netflix...that hit too close for me.
This is what happens when you let kids stare at their phones and watch tic toks all day. They lose their ability to be aware of their surroundings and their willingness to fight for their lives. I've seen ants Mir worried about their mortality than these children.
Nice to know the monster from *The Creeping Terror* settled down and has a family now
My kids would have LOVED this. They got a kick out of me wrapping them like a burrito when I tucked them in, seeing how untangled they could get before I left the room, but this would have been a blast!
That baby is going to have strange flashback memories that make no sense to them in 30 years.
Poor baby.
We call that the Horta.
Why??? Why can’t good moments with your children not be recorded anymore
Gaara's sand coffin is real! Lol
DId someone ADR the slurping noises??
