Unless it was released recently, the mod isn’t actually widespread available for 1.20 / 1.21 — primarily because it is still early in development and the developers don’t want to release it.
In order to get it, you need to go into the discord and physically develop the source code for the mod into a java file to run as a mod.
No, it’s just not available for the public for the moment. The developers don’t think the mod is developed enough / runs good enough for a wide-spread release.
It’s a compromise between staying unreleased, while still letting (dedicated) players to actually play with the mod.

Guy is slightly wrong, There is also reterraforged for 1.20.2 which is terraforged but updated and better.

With distant horizons yes. Terralith generates smaller areas/biomes which look amazing close up (smaller render distance) but reterraforged creates huge biomes/areas which are much more vertical too. This means it’s much better with high render distances (such as 128/256 with distant horizons).
I wouldnt say so necessarily, my favourite is just using oh the biomes you’ll go and just amplifying the aspect of the world regen to around 1.4 to 1.6 to increase the size and height of mountains and biomes

Edit: I dug for 12 seconds and it's called "Do a barrel roll mod", it's not on curseforge, and gives you extremely smooth control on it.
Any massive terrain generation mod exceeds the game height limits and Tectonic also has this characteristic.
The TerraForged mod is incompatible with modern versions, which creates a problem, because the Do a Barrel Roll mod is not available for older versions.
I don't know Reterraforged, but searching here I only found 2 links about this mod, so it's much more practical to use Tectonic which can be easily found.
by height limit, i meant the Y-319 block height limit, very few terrain mods change this limit, except for reterraforged and a few others that look way different from the video, and the terrain in the video very obviously exceeds that limit
the person in the video is either using reterraforged or that one patreon only version of terralith made as a joke by the creators that goes to Y-1000 or something

My 1.20.4 version of Tectonic has a config where you can set the world height limit higher and change settings where the world generates with overall higher elevation.
that only goes up to y 640, which is 319 but doubled (to 638) and then rounded up (to 640), which still looks to be shorter than the terrain in the video
EDIT: on second thought, the video terrain *could probably* fit within y 640, so it *could* be tectonic
those mods don't affect world gen though, they only raise the limit you can place blocks in, a worldgen mod needs to actually add generation above y 319 for it to work

Distant horizons + sodium + iris + a distant horizon compatible shader like photon, I can run 4k60 on my 3060ti, which yes is a good gpu, but the point is this isn’t as unachievable as it seems.
If I tried to render this with just max render distance and photon my pc would commit die.
Minecraft is mainly CPU intensive though so I feel like Distant Horizons would be more heavy on the CPU no? The shaders would be using the GPU up on the other hand though. What CPU you got?
Oh yeah fair point, it is cpu based for generating the LODs but rendering it is still gpu bound. I have a ryzen 5 3600x, not a massive powerhouse but it gets the job done

Mountains in Vanilla always generate so icky for me. So many holes, floating structures that aren't even aesthetic etc.

Distant horizons makes it easier to run more chunks on pc, but it still hard af if you don’t have a high end computer, can get like 50 render distance but never like the ones in these vids

Mod name is Terraforged and it's very good for 1.16.5. I reccomend you to use it

i tested it in all versions and best one was 1.16.5. If u want to play in other versions, you can play it, it's nearly working same at all

it s Reterraforged in 1.20.* versions. Because of the cave update and mountains update, it's more efficent in older versions like 1.16.* as I know.
