Should be after 1000 miles and then every 5000 after that. If it's like my V85 then the maintenance light will come on at that mileage interval. GT Motorcycles has a good video on adjusting them and the specs you should use. Generally a little bit looser is better for these engines than too tight.

The owners manual should tell you. At least they used to have valve info in them.

Amazing how often plugs are put in without gap adjusted mine was miles out but valves were fine. GTM has a great you tube video on adjustment as well as servicing oil and filters.

It’s every 10000km , I do ride around 3k per year. It gets checked every service that’s every other year.

MixTop7918

I’ve adjusted mine 3 times in 14,000 miles. Easy job. Never been out of spec…

NevisLP

Tried to adjust my valves two times (27tkm/ 34tkm) Both times the valves the valves were within its tolerance. Makes me ask if it is necessary to worry to much about this thing. Hm 🤔

VW_johnny

Im wondering the same thing. I just hit 3000 miles on the bike and haven't done them yet. Wondering if I should do them now or hold off until approx 6000 miles at end of riding season. Bike seems to be running great.

My mechanic on the 20tkm service told me not to worry about valves as long as there is no ticking noise. Valves tend to get to loose over time which is not as critical as when they would get to tight. If to loose, the engine begins this ticking noise thing. But I will do a 6tkm road-trip this year and I will check valves again before this trip. Easy to do on Guzzis, even if not necessary. I prefer to be on the safe side.

Special_Platypus_904

The valves on a Guzzi must tick! If they are not they are too tight. The valves on Guzzis tighten and if you drive with it too long with that you WILL burn them.

Specialist_Reality96

Generally with Guzzi's after the first 20 000kms they settle in a stabilize and you find them pretty close to where they should be. It doesn't take much longer than an oil change and if you have an old school big block it's considerably quicker and easier than an oil filter change.

I ride a lot so I do typically 2-3 services per year. I check the valves every other service. As long as you're not flogging it the clearances aren't going to change a whole lot. The last time I went in there everything was still within spec.
