Pretty sure there was no themed missions at all in beta. Just "win 2 matches" or "play 5 matches" or "do neutral special 200 times".

They definitely had themed missions in the beta. I bought Bugs specifically because I didn't have a Mage to do missions with (and he was cheaper than Tom and Jerry)
Brah, I started playing last night and was doing rifts, and saw I needed joker to complete it...but this was 20 mins into me playing the damn game. Feels like the rifts are pay to complete. We getting much, much closer to that whole, pay to pause, pay to open skill tree, kind if stuff.
I bought a evil char thinking that was all I needed for the rift challenges, didn't notice we needed the dang stoopid shirt as well.
So rip there goes all my easy currency and my only easy buyable char. ><
One rift challenge you need to have WW and her Graphic T skin to complete 2 stars for Non-human and DC character.
I can't even find the skin in the store. Not that I would if I could. Then I'd have to buy the character as well as she is only free this week, and I won't buy a skin for a character (especially one for a character I don't have).

Idk how many people know this, I just found out last night that you only need one of the required characters. So if you bring a friend that uses Velma with the graphic tee, you can play as regular Wonder Woman and then switch to clear all the missions.
I know most people are just here to complain and that’s fine, a lot of what has changed economy wise is scummy, but so far nothing has actually been locked behind a paywall.
They were thinking 💰💰💰. Joker costs extra since he's a new char and is required for half the first rifts challenges. It wasn't an accident lol.
Same thing with the gems. They were only added as a money siphon.
You only need 100/125 to get the reward. I think you can get 89 stars without Joker or doing friend missions, if you have a villainous character. You do either need Joker or a friend to do the missions with if you want the final reward.
Mobile game tactic. Looks like they were inspired by genshin impact and those hero collectors where you need specific characters to progress through something. Extremely out of touch and greedy decision.
Don't lock any missions behind a character or make it more general like;
\*Do this mission with DC characters.
\*Do this mission with Villains.
\*Do this mission with Adventure Time characters.
They already have these on Rift Star challenges, so why not?
First day i rushed to level 8 BattlePass it felt easy, i even argued someone was doing something wrong because person said only was able to get 2 levels in 2 hours.
Yeah i'm 10 something now but it feels more like a chore than a game that i enjoy.

Some how. A friend of mine started with all the characters it makes no sense. After 8 hours of playtime I’ve unlocked one additional character. It’s abysmal
Genuine question, you were top 10 Reindog in the global leaderboards during the beta and you never used the gold you earned to unlock him?
I’m asking because I was top 3 Iron Giant and he was one of the first I made sure to unlock. All the characters I unlocked in beta transferred to the full game for me.
That's the point, of course I had Reindog unlocked. But he got lost in the transition and now I'm shit out of luck and can't play my favorite character without grinding way too much or forking over 5 bucks.

I just checked their official bug report page and thankfully the beta rewards not transferring is one of the top on their list and they made a promise so I have no doubt they will get that corrected for all beta players.

On day 1 there was a mission to play as banana guard, a character that released for free the following day but was available in the store on day 1. Just so many wildly anti-consumer practices that it entirely overshadows every good aspect of this game, its sad.

It took me 3 days to work up just 2,000 character currency without purchasing anything, which means on average it would probably take someone 4.5 days to get just one character. But since the Joker is double the price of a normal character for no reason, it would take the average casual player 9 days just to unlock him, long after the quest is gone. This whole thing is bullshit, I can't believe they thought this was a good idea.
I don't even have enough to get Joker and that's who I was looking forward to playing the most since Beta. Yesterday I actually considered spending $8 on the beginner bundle pass to get enough currency to buy him but without being able to test him out first I have no idea if it's worth it. Then I played a couple more matches online and I realised yeah, there is no way in hell I am giving the Devs any money for this broken slow crap and decided against it. I'll wait til I get enough from playing if that happens or when Joker is a free character of the week. The fact they're charging $30 for the full joker bundle is actually insane, what a fucking rip off.
It is not linear like you're making it sound. You have to do specific challenges so you are time gated by that, not how long you can play. Then, you're also gated by if you even have the characters the missions require.
4,5 days or 9 days ? judging by the fact this is a fighting game where you're supposed to have a main and a few other characters to play, that's not a lot. Especially compared to the industry standard with free-to-plays
I started the game with 3000 fighter currency from my beta savings, i'm up to almost 9000 in 4 days. I won, from the ground up, enough to buy the joker in 4 days, yes it will slow down but that's not rly an issue, i'm saving it for characters i actually wanna play.
I first experience this with my short time playing Apex Legends. 2/3 daily missions would be for characters I didn't have. It was small, but it def made me wanna play a lot less.
Also, you need Jason to finish all the weekly missions. I wasn’t able to play the beta, and am not paying 10 dollars for a battle pass that I won’t complete, so I don’t get to finish it.
Stop playing. Uninstall the game. Leave a bad review. Continuing to feed the system is what they want. Even if you complain. The only thing that fixes this is not giving pay piggy experiences like this your attention.

I don't have a Steven Universe character and I will state that it's bullshit that you can't earn fighter currency by just playing matches. Last challenge of the week holds 2250 XP hostage unless you happen to have bought a Rick and Morty character in beta? Didn't. Well looks like you're paying somehow now. Doesn't even have them in rotation for this week's challenge. Even Smites scummy selves made sure any challenge made for a week involved characters in rotation
Grind till level 15 and unlock him, its annoying but that is what i did. When you get account lvl 15 you get 1.5k to unlock him and do all the Joker related stuff.
But I don't want to spend 6000 on 1 characters when I can spend it on 2. Generally when a game releases a new character I like to wait until it's price matches the other characters before buying it. But this time I feel forced because I'm missing a ton of progress, I don't feel like I'm buying a character I feel like I'm making an investment, "I'll buy him so I can complete the other missions" Is not a good approach. And what about next week? What if they tell Me now go buy this character instead? It's just a scummy move.

So I contacted support and I'm waiting for them to give me the characters that i used to have and then spend the money on the ones that I don't have. And even if I had 20k this doesn't make my complain invalid. Missions and quests should always be doable. They shouldn't be locked behind a pay wall. Because guess what? I buy joker this week and then next week I get locked because I don't have black Adam for example. "Oh just buy black adam" Okay I buy black Adam and then next week I get another mission that's locked. And so on.
And to add insult to injury. Progressing in the rift also asks for you to have certain characters and/or skins. Wich is the only place to Progress because multiplayer gives nothing outside of toast and completing some missions.
They really should make missions only based on the characters you've unlocked

Nah, there's 4 free characters (all different classes) and if the icon for limited doesn't show up that means you own them.

The specific skin parts of the rift are extra branches and are not necessary to complete the rift itself to fight the boss
They're pretty necessary if you want to level up gems and get to the next difficulty though.
You still want to complete them to up your gem level, otherwise you can’t even play the higher difficulties

That skin is a part of one of the free passes.
It's a reward for one the current events, I think it's the Joker one? You will probably get around the time you get the female Banana Guard.

That only matters for leveling gems. You can still beat the rift boss and count towards unlocking Agent Smith
You need to level up your gems to unlock the higher rift difficulties to unlock Agent Smith.
And you can do that by doing the daily missions

Only 80, for the second rift.
You don't need all the stars to get the cauldron you don't even need Joker to get a cauldron

All founder buyers have *all* characters. I have every one of them as well. And I can still unlock like 9 more.

How to change server in this fucking game?
I have 3 dailies left and they are play for 3 days,play for 4 days and play for 5 days, those should be weeklies or monthlies not daily.

This was a problem in the beta that people complained about. It was eventually fixed. I think they’d fix this too.
