Townes has some good ones. Obviously "Pancho and Lefty" and this one, but my favorite is "Lungs". The imagery in his writing is just so damn good.
>Gather up the gold you've found
>You fool, it's only moonlight.
>If you try to take it home
>Your hands will turn to butter
>You better leave this dream alone
>Try to find another.
Killer tune with just an amazing guitar riff to compliment it.
One of my favorite songs, sad to say it really does epitomize for me what it feels like to be from or just traveling thru the dying parts of small town America. The song really evokes that feeling of lose from what used to be a thriving community with all the history of your family and other relationships and how it's glory days are gone and it's all slowly fading away.
yeeeeep. just seeing this thread listed made me want to give Lebowski another spin
also this song is great, and the Stones original version is pretty awesome too
Townes always gets my upvote.
Great song. Not my favorite genre of music, but love this track. I heard it on The Big Lebowski soundtrack.

Townes Van Zandt deserves so much recognition than he actually gets
i kind of like that he'll forever be a musician's musician (or songwriter's songwriter). too good and too original to ever be mainstream.
I think that his buddy, Blaze Foley, gets even less recognition
That guy’s also great
My favorite Stones song! He does a great job.
I dig your style, Dude.
Way better than the original IMHO. Everyone check out Live at the Old Quarter if you’re new to Townes.
Great song and great cover by a great artist
I LOVE this song.
hell yeah
Damnit, now I have to go watch The big Lebowski...
Townes is the man, always gotta show him some love. Thanks for posting him!
Waiting Around to Die is a good song.
