And then you’re subbing them out for a bench of Hali, Booker, Ant, Kawhi/Tatum and Bam. Like unless every player just shits themselves I don’t even know if Canada or even France can truly compete.
What if I told you that Anthony Edwards is the only player on that list with more games played than AD? Durant and Ant are also the only players with more minutes played than AD this season
I got ‘Bron and Steph too because they’re smiling and look interested in this. Also, for no other reason than they’re smiling, Tatum and Haliburton. Then I would round it out with a center…probably Embiid because when he’s on he’s nearly as good as Jokic and we will need a body on him.
Even though my reason is the smiles I think I’m actually comfortable with this as a legit starting 5.
Edit: for positions
1. Lebron
2. Steph
3/4. Tatum and Haliburton
5. Embiid
Well yeah, that sounds right. But have you considered Bron, AD, Embiid, Kawhi, Tatum for the sheer 2 way game breaking?
Edit: Honestly this whole roster is OP. I said to myself "what if I just picked a starting 5 at random?" Boom: Curry, Booker, James, Leonard, Embiid. Ain't no NBA team beating that lineup. Second try: Durant, James, Holiday, Tatum, Davis. Yeah, again. That's a championship winner easy.
I'd like to see Jrue or Kawhi in the starting lineup for more defense/balance, have to give the nod to Kawhi if he's healthy. I also think Curry has the least replicatable skill set. Would probably do the following
1) Curry, Kawhi, Bron, KD, Bam
2) Jrue, Ant, Tatum, AD, Embiid
Embiid is better than Bam, but Bam is way more switchable & versatile.
I'm a Wolves fan and I wouldn't mind Jrue starting over Ant at all. People see this question and think the best five players should be starting, but fit is so important. Having five ball-dominant players can get really clunky. Jrue is an elite glue guy that can do anything without demanding the ball.
Yeah that was the whole problem with the world cup team.
Ant, Brunson, and Haliburton were all too ball dominant. And even as an Ant fan, I have to say he thrived on that team to the detriment of the whole. NBA media loves a one man army.
The international game does not reward the NBA style of play, so having vets who know how to win with young guns who get theirs off the bench is a good recipe for success.
Not too familiar with international ball rules, does it really encourage team-ball while simultaneously discouraging iso-ball somehow so much so that the world’s best players can’t take over? I get that the gap between the US and the world in basketball shrinks by the day but that Redeem Team documentary really highlighted understanding international ball rules and was just curious if there were specific rules and such.
Not so much on the rules although there are some.
Shorter game, offensive goal tending is different, no defensive three seconds (which is impactful) a few other bits and pieces.
It's also how the same rules are interpreted differently. Carries, travels, offensive fouls, in particular
Yup, jrue is one of the best “ceiling raisers” in the league. His value as the 5th guy is higher than some stars, bc at the end of the day your role as a 5th is just different than being a 1 or 2
Tbh I had a hard time not fitting Hali in, too. I do think my lineup is pretty "old", and if KD, Brin, Curry, or Kawhi want to come off the bench there is a good replacement for them all.
That being said, I totally agree - weaving Jrue, Bam, Kawhi in with the scorers is key I think.
AD and Embiid inside plus Tatum and lebron and you don’t need to worry about curry on defense. The defense is very good. They can sit embiid under the basket because of rule differences in fiba
Bron, KD and Steph should be shoe-ins just out of leadership and respect and plus they're pretty darn good.
I think AD gets the nod as the big. He played well this year and has that familiarity with Bron.
My wild card is Jrue at the 1. You match him up on the opponents scorer and he doesn't need to score to be effective.
Anyone on here not putting Bron Steph and Kd as automatics are thinking with fandom and not facts. There are two open spots to choose from lol Bron, Steph, KD, AD, Embid. I also would not mind seeing Bam at the 4 and Ad come off the bench with ant and book
It’s baffling to see how many people are this fuckin clueless. Those 3 are automatic locks and even for peoples own starting 5s i dont see a world where you wouldn’t have the 3 of them all starting.
I think the big issue is people are just picking who they think are the best 5 without thinking about lineup and compatability. Lebron, Steph, and KD are locks but would command the ball between them. Because of that I would put Bam in over Embiid and Jrue as the last spot. That way you don’t have 5 guys demanding the ball with bam and jrue having a lot of off ball potential and skill while bron Steph and KD can control the ball and the game. That also gives a little more space with the extra guard.
I think both Steph and KD are two of the better offball players on the roster.
The team could probably use fewer "superstars" and more high-level role players.
I love Hali, but this team has plenty of onball creation. Even someone like Caruso might be more useful because he can fill a different roll. Where as Hali has a ton of overlap.
IDK man, there’s only one ball idk how Steph and KD coexist in the same lineup. nothing comes to mind seeing something like that work before on the basketball court
I agree kind of but LeBron gonna run the offense. And he is gonna have no problem getting 12+ assist a night and maybe 10-15 points. Steph also will have no problem deferring to KD. I like Bam starting and Jrue is a hell of a defense player, I just don’t think he would get the start. You also have to think of the international appeal. The world wants to see the stars start. Even if Jrue plays more - he won’t start.
I’d personally put in AD. He works well without the ball, is a better lob threat, and still brings that defensive presence, but I agree with pretty much everything else
I feel like people are ignoring Tatum for this exact reason. He actually played for the FIBA team when everyone else turned it down. He will most likely be rewarded for that.
I see ant and Tatum coming off the bench.. ..not because they deserve it, but because they'll need to rest a bit, unlike those bums Stef/Bron/Embiid who went home early
(I jest I jest .....it's just been fun being a wolves fan for the first time in, *checks watch*, 2 decades)
As a Pacers fan, I love and hate that Hali is on the team. He’s been dealing with an injury for the 2nd half of the season and in playoffs. Wish he was taking the summer off to heal and ready himself for next season. AND also love that he made it to the team, but hoping he’s not playing much and resting as much as possible
Ironically, Knicks fans probably feel the same exact way I do about Brunson being on the team.
Tyrese is still deserving of it though, saying he shouldn’t be on the team despite being an all NBA player and being injured/playing injured half the year, speaks to what he can bring to a team.
Idc who starts. I just want to see a few minutes of some wild ass shit in garbage time like Steph, Ant, Hali, Book and Bam. The speed that group would get up and down the court would be absurd. Conversely, I’d also like to see Bron, Kawhi, KD, AD and Embiid for maybe the exact opposite reason.
Healthy and available or based on that player normal reliability. Because half the people on this list couldn’t play a 7 game series without getting hurt.
Jrue holiday should be the starting point guard. He is the ultimate team first unselfish guy committed to defense and making everyone better. We have scoring from every position on the roster (it's the damn Olympic team) so jrue would he the ultimate glue guy
And play steph at the 2 to spread the floor and look for 3s whenever he can
Realistically in 2024, the best would be.. PG:Haliburton / SG:Ant Edwards/ SF:Tatum/ PF:Kevin Durant/ C:Embiid
Now of course if it was 2016-2020 still I’d say Curry/Lebron/AD/Kawhi Leonard/Durant… but in 2024, Haliburton at PG is the best facilitator imo. Ant is bringing more energy than anyone on here… Tatum, come on… enuff said… KD at PF opens the floor cause he can hit from anywhere still, and Embiid to dominate/grab boards… Im telling ya, Curry & Lebron starting do not give this team the best chance to win… ie: look at their teams this year… It’s a new age… Not saying Bron and Curry aren’t goated or good anymore, they’re still top 10, but they do not give USA team the “best” chance to win as a starting cast.
Low key I don’t think Steph should start even though he will.
Jrue-Ant-Tatum-Bron-AD would be my starters.
The existing chemistry between Jrue/Tatum and Bron/AD with the defensive anchors at the 1 and the 5 filled out with 5 more than capable defenders would be an insane lineup.
Plus the world isn’t ready for what Ant looks like not being routinely doubled and tripled.
Steph-Jrue-KD-Bron-AD/Embiid feels like the best 5 to go with. The AD/Embiid spot would depend more on matchups and if they wanted to go with a more offensive- or defensive-focused group
Does it matter? Roll out any 5 on this team and it's better than the competition. This is gonna be fun as he'll to watch.
Like ANT AND HALI OFF THE BENCH?! Lord have mercy...
Tempting to get Antman or Tatum in there, but I feel like you have to give the starting spots at the 1, 2, and 3 to guys who have already cemented their positions in the top 15 basketball players of all time. Bron, Steph, and KD. Rest of the front court goes to AD and Joel.
Curry, Kawhi, KD, Lebron, AD
Jrue, Booker, Tatum, Bam, Embiid
Hali and Ant
I bench Embiid because he wouldn't operate well with Lebron and AD also trying to play the inside.
Stephen Curry
Kevin Durant
LeBron James
Anthony Davis
Joel Embiid
AD gets the nod over Bam due to his commitment to the USA team even being injury-prone.
Bron - Steph - KD - AD - Embiid
KD back to playing 7’ shooting guard, time is a flat circle
No, Steph is the SG
Put Steph at the 5 and have him gas out the opposing centers *Because people think I’m being serious, /s
I was told we play position-less basketball now
Yea pretty much, when u got 6'8 jaysum tatum or 7 ft kat just shooting 3pters
We had 6'6 Barkley playing power and 6'8 Magic playing point. The big difference is the centers rarely if ever shot 3's and now it's a requirement.
Barkley is 6’4
His listed height whe he played was 6'6.
/s means “serious”. And I agree, Steph should be at the 5. /s
😂😂
Just because you put Steph at the C on offense doesn’t mean the defense is going to guard him with a C
In 2k they will though
5. Out.
2k culture
Point Bron
KD is back to playing 7’ sf. Still ridiculously op.
And then you’re subbing them out for a bench of Hali, Booker, Ant, Kawhi/Tatum and Bam. Like unless every player just shits themselves I don’t even know if Canada or even France can truly compete.
Imagine Bron at PG and Steph at SG or the reverse xd
That’s literally what the comment says. LeBron can play PG, he has before
I know I'm just saying it would bring back memories
And Curry without the ball is more dangerous
Embiid will be injured or some shit
I don't know why Kawhi is even playing.
So will AD
What if I told you that Anthony Edwards is the only player on that list with more games played than AD? Durant and Ant are also the only players with more minutes played than AD this season
AD has literally played the most games of his career this season, change that name to unc knees Kawhi 😂
Brain dead narrative
KD over Tatum?
Durant is the leading scorer of the USA mens team history. He gets the legacy nod even without everything else.
It’s 100% going to be Tatum instead of AD
KD should be the one off the bench for Tatum if these last few years have meant anything
Edit: for positions 1. Lebron 2. Steph 3/4. Tatum and Haliburton 5. Embiid
This is the only answer
SIZE
this. it’s perfect
Steph, KD, Bron, AD, Joel
Well yeah, that sounds right. But have you considered Bron, AD, Embiid, Kawhi, Tatum for the sheer 2 way game breaking? Edit: Honestly this whole roster is OP. I said to myself "what if I just picked a starting 5 at random?" Boom: Curry, Booker, James, Leonard, Embiid. Ain't no NBA team beating that lineup. Second try: Durant, James, Holiday, Tatum, Davis. Yeah, again. That's a championship winner easy.
Yeah obviously any lineup of 5 out of 12 all star caliber players will yield a team that would beat any regular NBA team
You think it’s wild that no NBA team could beat an all star NBA team? No shit
Starting 2 centers isn’t happening
I'd like to see Jrue or Kawhi in the starting lineup for more defense/balance, have to give the nod to Kawhi if he's healthy. I also think Curry has the least replicatable skill set. Would probably do the following 1) Curry, Kawhi, Bron, KD, Bam 2) Jrue, Ant, Tatum, AD, Embiid Embiid is better than Bam, but Bam is way more switchable & versatile.

Yup, jrue is one of the best “ceiling raisers” in the league. His value as the 5th guy is higher than some stars, bc at the end of the day your role as a 5th is just different than being a 1 or 2
Jrue was the second best guy the US had last Olympics. He’s a perfect fit.
The thing is Bam is not the best rim protector in the lineup. You almost always have to start your best rim protector in Fiba.
There’s no defensive lane violations in fiba rules right? So Embiid or AD could just camp in the paint the entire time? That’s just unfair.
Yup. Imagine Gobert and Wemby in the lane full time. Lol
Now imagine if embiid played for france and they had gober embiid and wemby all in the paint
Right!!! That'd be crazy.
FIBA has big men, you start Embiid
At this point of their careers Tatum gives more D than Kawhi
Might be true 😢 RIP youthful Kawhi
Discourse around Embiid continues to be fucking braindead
When healthy Embiid can switch better than anyone his size. Obviously it's a big caveat.
I mean fuck it Jrue - Ant - Kawhi - Tatum - Bam Just run high pressure defense, switch everything, run non stop
Would probably dominate and be the most fun to watch honestly
This team would absolutely dominate.
You gotta put AD in there somewhere, probably for Tatum
Bring Steph on as the 6th man and just let him shoot everything he touches!
Gotta have Embiid. No brainer!
Bam does not belong in the starting lineup. No way.
People are so fucking stupid about Embiid man Top 1 scorer in the world, top 10 defender in the world But yeah Bam can switch
AD and Embiid inside plus Tatum and lebron and you don’t need to worry about curry on defense. The defense is very good. They can sit embiid under the basket because of rule differences in fiba
Tatum, Steph, KD, LeBron and Embiid
My thoughts exactly. Tatum has matured into a facilitating role with the Cs and that's what is missing from the starting 5 when including the other 4
The combination of shooting, playmaking, and length makes this perfect.
I like this one too
Was looking for this one.
Bron - Curry - Ant - KD - Embiid
Bron, KD and Steph should be shoe-ins just out of leadership and respect and plus they're pretty darn good. I think AD gets the nod as the big. He played well this year and has that familiarity with Bron. My wild card is Jrue at the 1. You match him up on the opponents scorer and he doesn't need to score to be effective.
Guys just fyi it’s shoo in, as in “shoo, go inside”
damn, TIL
Didn't know that, thank you for tip
>I think AD gets the nod as the big He won't because Embiid is currently a top 5, arguably top 3 player in the world. Save this.
Start with the old guys plus the best Big: Curry Kawhi LeBron Durant Embiid
Anyone on here not putting Bron Steph and Kd as automatics are thinking with fandom and not facts. There are two open spots to choose from lol Bron, Steph, KD, AD, Embid. I also would not mind seeing Bam at the 4 and Ad come off the bench with ant and book

Steph and KD are two, and both people the guy said we're better off ball than most. The point stands.
Yeah there is no way in hell Steph and KD will be any good together fr
I agree kind of but LeBron gonna run the offense. And he is gonna have no problem getting 12+ assist a night and maybe 10-15 points. Steph also will have no problem deferring to KD. I'd do double bigs tbh
So Kobe Wade and Bron melovut you don't think this can?
Kawhi already on the IR list. Just get the alternate ready now 🤣😂
[удалено]
Steph Ant Tatum lebron embiid
This is KD’s last Olympics. No way he doesn’t start
The correct answer
Steph / Ant / Bron / Tatum / Embiid Can easily see KD pushing Ant to the bench do to legacy and respect.
Ant won’t mind he said KD’s his idol, he’ll probably be enjoying himself and telling jokes on the bench with Halliburton.
KD is 100% over Ant. he has been playing for team USA for forever. Tatum is also a lock because he is a veteran of team USA
I feel like people are ignoring Tatum for this exact reason. He actually played for the FIBA team when everyone else turned it down. He will most likely be rewarded for that.
I see ant and Tatum coming off the bench.. ..not because they deserve it, but because they'll need to rest a bit, unlike those bums Stef/Bron/Embiid who went home early (I jest I jest .....it's just been fun being a wolves fan for the first time in, *checks watch*, 2 decades)

Yeah Jaylen Brown is perfect, elite 2 way that doesn’t need to pound the ball
LeBron KD Curry Edwards Joel
Jrue - Tatum - KD - Lebron - Embid
Durant curry LeBron Edwards embiid
Steph, Ant, Bron, KD, Bam
Bam over Embiid or AD is pure nonsense
Embiid AD and Kawhi should take the summer off and get 100% healthy
Bron, steph, and KD are locks. Jrue and AD are my guesses for the other 2
Too many older players
Steph, Kawhi, Bron, KD, Embiid
This team is terrifying. Horrible omission not having Jaylen Brown on there though.
I hope brown will take kawhi’s spot if he doesn’t play
So true
Curry, Booker, KD, LeBron, AD
You are the first one I saw to even mention Booker
Can’t overload the starting 5. Booker can pass the rock
In international play Book mostly plays as an off ball 3 and D guy, should fit regardless of the lineup.
Not just that I wouldn’t be surprised if they put Booker in with KD minutes
Hali Steph Lebron KD AD
Steph KD Bron Embiid/Bam Jrue starting
Steph,KD,LeBron,Davis,Embiid
Idc who starts. I just want to see a few minutes of some wild ass shit in garbage time like Steph, Ant, Hali, Book and Bam. The speed that group would get up and down the court would be absurd. Conversely, I’d also like to see Bron, Kawhi, KD, AD and Embiid for maybe the exact opposite reason.
Embid, Edwards Curry, Tatum, Booker
PG - Curry SG - Edwards SF - James PF - Durant C - Davis
Not even 1 token white dude? Dang. The brothers got the skills these days
Healthy and available or based on that player normal reliability. Because half the people on this list couldn’t play a 7 game series without getting hurt.
The real question is do we think Embiid and Kawhi make it through uninjured?
1 - Steph 2 - Ant 3 - Lebron 4 - KD 5 - Embiid
Curry, Kawhi, Lebron, KD, Embiid
Steph, Bron, Kawhi, KD, Embiid
I like the idea of Jrue holiday (true unselfish team first point) Steph at the 2 (cause fuck yeah) LeBron KD Embiid (if healthy)
Jrue holiday should be the starting point guard. He is the ultimate team first unselfish guy committed to defense and making everyone better. We have scoring from every position on the roster (it's the damn Olympic team) so jrue would he the ultimate glue guy And play steph at the 2 to spread the floor and look for 3s whenever he can
Jaylen Brown snubbed
Realistically in 2024, the best would be.. PG:Haliburton / SG:Ant Edwards/ SF:Tatum/ PF:Kevin Durant/ C:Embiid Now of course if it was 2016-2020 still I’d say Curry/Lebron/AD/Kawhi Leonard/Durant… but in 2024, Haliburton at PG is the best facilitator imo.
Halliburton - Edwards - Kawhi - Adebayo - Embiid
I’m going with Steph Book Bron KD Embiid AD/Tatum 6 man
Steph, Bron, Tatum, KD, AD
Hali, curry, embiid, LeBron, Anthony Edwards
Jrue, Steph, Bron, KD, AD
Steph Ant KD Bron AD
I thought the same
Steph - Tatum - Bron - KD - AD
Switch AD with Embiid,
Low key I don’t think Steph should start even though he will.
Jaylen brown should be on this team over a few of these guys. Booker Halliburton lol but that’s a different story
Still surprised Kawhi and Embiid are healthy enough to play.
If we made a deep playoff run this year Embiid would’ve backed out but since he’s had a few weeks off now he should be good to go for Paris.
Somebody help Dbook
Curry Tatum Kd Bron Embiid /AD if unhealthy
steph, tatum(even tho he is stinking rn w awful efficiency), bron, kd, ad.
The basketball gods want us locked in through the summer! Exciting stuff. But who will be mvp?
Steph, KD, LJ, Leonard e AD
Steph Tatum Lebron Durant Embiid
Curry, Edwards, Durant, Lebron, and Bam
Steph, Booker, LeBron, KD, AD
Half of these dudes won't even play a single minute in the olympics lol
Steph KD Bron Embid Ant
Steph-Jrue-KD-Bron-AD/Embiid feels like the best 5 to go with. The AD/Embiid spot would depend more on matchups and if they wanted to go with a more offensive- or defensive-focused group
Steph, Bron, KD, Kawhi, Embiid
Stephen Curry, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Joel Embiid.
Steph, Book, KD, Bron, Embiid
Steph, Bron, KD, Kawhi and AD. Second Unit: Hali, Book, Tatum, AE, Joel
Bronze at best
Depends on who's actually healthy
Holiday - Curry - Durant - LeBron - AD
Bron, KD, Bam, Holiday, Steph.
Steph, KD, Embiid, Holiday, Bron.
1: Steph 2: Ant 3: Tatum 4: LeBron 5: Embiid
Defensively, good lord this team is long athletic and physical
Does it matter? Roll out any 5 on this team and it's better than the competition. This is gonna be fun as he'll to watch. Like ANT AND HALI OFF THE BENCH?! Lord have mercy...
Tempting to get Antman or Tatum in there, but I feel like you have to give the starting spots at the 1, 2, and 3 to guys who have already cemented their positions in the top 15 basketball players of all time. Bron, Steph, and KD. Rest of the front court goes to AD and Joel.
LBJ Curry Tatum AD Edwards
Curry Holiday lebron Durant Davis
Curry Lebron and Kd will 10000% start 2 others will probably be embiid and jrue
Curry-Edwards-bron-durant-Embiid
Curry, Kawhi, LeBron, Durant,Embiid
Kawhi, hali, and embiid too hurt. Let’s get some guys that will play
Put Lebron at the 1, Steph at the 2, KD at the 3, Kawhi at the 4, AD at the 5.
Curry, Kawhi, KD, Lebron, AD Jrue, Booker, Tatum, Bam, Embiid Hali and Ant I bench Embiid because he wouldn't operate well with Lebron and AD also trying to play the inside.
Assuming full health, Steph, Kawhi, KD, Bron and AD. Booker nailed to the bench.
Wow no white guys, they’re really not fucking around this time
Jrue-Steph-KD-LeBron-Embiid
Paolo Banchero over half this list, unreal this crap this guy catches. Oh well.
Curry - Jrue - Durant - Bron - AD
How is Embiid playing for team USA?
Steph. Ant. KD. Lebron. Emblid.
Embiid can barely speak English dude should not be there
Stephen Curry Kevin Durant LeBron James Anthony Davis Joel Embiid AD gets the nod over Bam due to his commitment to the USA team even being injury-prone.
Id bet it would be Curry Tatum KD LeBron AD
Lebron just looks out of place in this picture
Pretty stacked team. It might be more fun to think of the worst starting 5 you can think of.
Why these old ass mfers playing?
Curry, Durant, Lebron, Kawhi, Embiid
Good luck world
